N8 50m 52sec video time limit

Why is there a 50 minute time limit when recording in 720p? Is there any way round this limit?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Or instead of NTFS, a quick fix would be a utility that restarts the recording every 45min with say, a nice musical note. The phone could give a warning musical note/vibration 1min before restart so the videographer could choose to restart early so a critical event is not missed. Thanks Le55ons, you have answered/reminded me of old limits.

  • IPod maximum video time limit?!

i've been converting some DVD's to ipod format for my 5G ipod.
(using Handbrake to make a mpeg-4 file that i then use Quicktime Pro 7.0.3 to convert to iPod format)
I have had no troubles and the video looks great but i have noticed that iTunes won't allow me to put a few movies onto my ipod.
for example Cinderella which is 75 minutes works great as does everything i've done that is shorter than that (45 minute tv shows 7 minute cartoon shorts etc) but when i try to put Raiders of the Lost Ark or Star Wars (115 minutes and 125 minutes respectively) they get refused when trying to load to the ipod.
all the movies are made with QT7 Pro and fall well within the specified iPod video specs.
this morning i exported a 20 minute chunk of Raiders and it worked fine.
has anyone had any luck with movies longer than 75 minutes?
is there a maximum movie length the ipod can handle?!
    -Don

Are you suggesting that Quicktime 7 is failing to keep the bitrate within specs? the resulting movies say their bit rate is in the range of 625-660 kbps.
While I also find this "double conversion" process of yours a bit unusual, if it works for you, what can I say? Don't believe QT Pro is creating files beyound the iPod limitations (as confirmed by your data rate readings), I am curious about a few other matters. For instance, HandBrake has a habit of resetting frame rate to 24fps if not manually overridden. Wondered, therefore. if you are overriding them for your intermediate MPEG4 file. And, if the intermediate MPEG4 file is at 24fps, what is the final frame rate in the H.264 file created by QT Pro? (Have never tested to see if QT Pro maintains the sorce frame rate or attempts to reset it to the more normal 29.97fps.) Also wondering what MPEG4 data rate you are using for your intermediate file. Unless you are using a combined audio/video data rate on the order of 2000-2200kbps, it seems to me you may be creating an inferior intermediate file and then possibly forcing QT Pro to work harder in an effort to correct matters. What about resolution? Are you dropping it immediatelly to gain processing speed in later file processing or are you "stepping" down the resolution change gradually? Normal workflow requires (or at least implies) that each preceeding file should maintain a level of quality (by virtue of frame rate, resolution, data ratre, etc.) slightly greater than that of each succeeding file.
As I said, have not run any tests to see what sort of impact these various aspects may have on your final target file. It may be interesting to run some tests when I have the time just to get some idea as to what may be going on here. Rule of thumb in most cases is to apply the old "KISS" approach -- "Keep It Simple, Stupid." By this I mean to say that it is sometimes better to keep things as simple as possible so as not to introduce unanticipated problems. Question: Do the files which are created directly (but too dark for your taste) sync to/play properly on the iPod?

  • This is not right: time limit on iMac G5 Repair Program

iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302181
The program covers affected iMac G5 computers for up
to three years from the original date of purchase.
Apple sold iMacs G5 computers that were defective when they left the factory. Apple knows the cause of the defects. In some of the affected iMacs the defects manifested them earlier, in others later.
That Apple is using a time limit for the free repair is not right because the manifestation of the problem is usage dependant - those who used their iMac little (and the problem appears late) are being penalized. The correct way would have been to recall and repair all of the affected iMacs or put no time limit on the free repair.

    Hello All,
I agree as well. My iMac G5 would not power up on Saturday morning. I bought it in Feb. 2005. I had the logic board and power supply replaced in May 2006. My apple care ran out in Feb of this year. Still, I called Apple, thinking perhaps something could be done.
The tech was very, very nice, and talked with his supervisor three times to see if perhaps I could get some kind of discount on a new computer. No go. And he explained that Apple is no longer making the old logic boards, they have to be made special, etc. I do feel a little cheated, since they replaced the logic board with one that had the same problems (opened it up--bulging capacitors with the cross mark on them). Well, it lasted two years after that, but we are not hard on our computers, and now I wish I'd have been less cautious with it. Maybe it would have died two months sooner when I still had Applecare!
Nevertheless, I still went out and bought a new iMac 24 in. 2.8 with 4 GB ram and a new Airport Extreme Base Station (Apple products are still the best I've ever used). I'm going to wait awhile to get Apple Care--to extend my coverage time as long as possible, since even a couple months would have helped in my situation.
Good luck to all you G5 owners. And thanks to all the people in the G5 forums that have been so helpful in the past. And Back-up often--you'll be glad you did.

  • Recording time limit on QuickTime?

Using Mountain Lion's bundled (out-of-the-box; free) version of QuickTime, is there a set time limit to a single screen capture recording?
Specifically, I want to press record and have it screen record 30 to 60 mins of continuos video. Is this possible as long as I have plenty of hard drive space?

Nice! That's exactly what I needed to know.
Yes, basically I want to capture just a portion of the screen (web-cam live feed) for 45+ mins. (no, not pr0n)
Any idea what the min per MB rate of capture is?

  • Canon 5d video file limit.

    Hi All,
Hope someone can save me a bit of mucking around with some advice. I have a 16 gig card for my 5d and i thought this would extend my video time on the 5d but i have read somewhere that the video limit on the 5d is a windows file-size thing and nothing to do with the 5d per Se.
Has anyone done any recording on a 5d with a 16 gig card and if so what happens? When it reaches its 12 or so minutes, can you just switch it off and restart recording on that card or is 12 minutes all you can possibly fit on the card?
Hope i have articulated the problem OK
    thanks for any advice.
    Simon..

According to the <a target=new href=http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/6/0300001676/01/eos5dmkii-im-en.pdf<b>manual,</b></a> you can also shoot for about 24 minutes at 640x480. (but who wants that?) It also says that a fully charged battery will give you roughly 80-90 min of video time depending on temp. That may be the main problem right now because finding batteries in stock presently is as hard as finding the camera!<br /><br />> I also heard rumblings about Olympics press rules and different access for still and video photographers. <br /><br />Yep, John. That's true for many sporting events (won't be surprised if these new "hybrids" change the rules), but I think the main reason for the limited time is the FAT32 file size limit. <br /><br />-phil

  • 4GB video file limit removed?

One of my big gripes with the AppleTV was the 4GB video file limit. Can anyone confirm whether this limit has been officially removed?
The reason I ask is that I recently had a 4.02GB movie file in my library which is shared to the AppleTV and I was surprised to see it listed on the AppleTV shared movies. It played fine. I have since tried a movie file over 6GB and this too plays fine.
I hope this is a feature and not something that Apple will remove in future updates.

    jtw13 wrote:
Previously, any movie file over 4GB was never synced to the AppleTV or shown as available for streaming. My understanding at the time was that the AppleTV software did not support over 4GB, as iTunes itself would load them and play them fine.
    So it seemed.
If you look at the maths, a 32-bit number can store file poisition data (to the nearest byte) up to a maximum of 4GB. In order to reference files over 4GB, you needed to use 64-bit addressing.
    Absolutely.
I haven't seen anything official, which is why I am asking.
This is a user to user forum so you won't get an official reply (usually).
My answer is based on several anecdotal reports here that >4GB files have been usable of late.
As far as I can remember there was never an 'official' 4GB limit in the first place, just again anecdotally in user experience it appeared to be so.

  • Youtube Time Limit

Youtube have increased their time limit to 15 minutes per video, however iMovie still says only 10 minutes. Any help?

First you would need to share your movie using SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE
(SHARE TO ITUNES OR SHARE TO MEDIA BROWSER OR SHARE to QuickTime would also work)
This is the file you upload to YouTube.

  • Youtube Upload Time Limit

My youtube account allows me to upload videos longer than 15m but my Adobe PE10 refuses saying 15m is the maximum.  Are there any settings that simply allow me to scrap/change the maximum time limit or do i have to do it the long way.......copy file to computer (i.e mpeg/avi) and then upload independently.
    Thanks

    BillSPrestoneEsq
There seems to be no other solution but to export your Timeline to a file (as SG suggests) and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
As you see, the Premiere Elements 10 feature does not allow for adjustment of the stated limits for that particular version anywhere in the Share/Online/YouTube feature. I have never found a way to make that kind of adjustment even after the YouTube area appeared in that Share/Online/You Tube route.
You will note, when the features's stated limits for one version were increased in a later version, that a patch was never forthcoming for the earlier version with lower stated feature limits.

  • Error while executing a report : Time limit exceeded

    Hello Experts,
i have executed a report  and it took long time and finally throw an error saying that time limit is exceeded ,
please suggest how to resolve the problem
    Thanks in Advance
    Nitya

    Hi Nitya H,
There are many resons behind Time out issue.
It is better to find where exaclty, our report is taking more time.
Below are the some of the bottle necks we need to monitor for time out issue:
    1) OLAP query generation time.
    2) F4 Search time.
    3) Read Cache.
    4) Write Cache.
Above features we can monitor @ RSRT transaction.
If OLAP query generation time is taking much time means ,pls regenerate the query @ RSRT.
For F4 search ,keep mater data as data retrival target.
For Read Cache and Write Cache increase the query memory @ RSRT.
Plse check the report and let me know if there is other bottle necks for query execution....
_Note:_ This is just a high level view but we can have many performance drills...like Free char ,complex calculated key fig...etc..
    Hope this may helps you...
    Cheers,
    Maruthi

  • Short dump "Time limit exceeded" when searching for Business Transactions

    Hello Experts,
We migrated from SAP CRM 5.2 to SAP CRM 7.0. After migration, our business transaction search (quotation, sales order, service order, contract etc) ends with the short dump "Time limit exceeded" in class CL_CRM_REPORT_ACC_DYNAMIC, method DATABASE_ACCESS. The select query is triggered from line 5 of this method.
    Number of Records:
    CRMD_ORDERADM_H: 5,115,675
    CRMD_ORDER_INDEX: 74,615,914
We have done these so far, but the performance is still either poor or times out.
    1. DB team checked the ORACLE parameters and confirmed they are fine. They also checked the health of indices in table CRMD_ORDER_INDEX and indices are healthy
    2. Created additional indices on CRMD_ORDERADM_H and CRMD_ORDER_INDEX. After the creation of indices, some of the searches(without any criteria) work. But it takes more than a minute to fetch 1 or 2 records
    3. An ST05 trace confirmed that the selection on CRMD_ORDER_INDEX takes the most time. It takes about 103 seconds to fetch 2 records (max hits + 1)
    4. If we specify search parameters, say for example a date or status, then again we get a short dump with the message "Time limit exceeded".
    5. Observed that only if a matching index is available for the WHERE clause, the results are returned (albeit slowly). In the absence of an index, we get the dump.
    6. Searched for notes and there are no notes that could help us.
Any idea what is causing this issue and what we can do to resolve this?
    Regards,
    Bala

    Hi Michael,
Thanks. Yes we considered the note 1527039. None of the three scenarios mentioned in the note helped us. But we ran CRM_INDEX_REBUILD to check if the table CRMD_ORDER_INDEX had a problem. That did not help us either.
The business users told us that they mostly search using the date fields or Object ID. We did not have any problem with search by Object ID. So we created additional indices to support search using the date fields.
    Regards,
    Bala
