  • Has anyone actually been able to build a FLV player with Flex 2?

    I have been playing around with a FLV player in Flex 2, but I
    keep on running into one big problem: I never get a picture. Sound
    is not a problem, and all code seems to do exactly what it should.
    Except for the video showing up... I have tried loads of examples,
    read all of the docs I could get my hands on, but it all ends the
    same: no picture.
    The best solution (imho) I found is listed below, but still
    it does not do what it is supposed to do. Still, I only get audio.
    If there's anyone who's got a player working with the Video
    object using Flex 2 (SDK), I would *love* to hear your solution.
    Michiel.

    }

    Hi Chielosos,
    In your code, after
    import flash.utils.Timer;
    You may need to add
    NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding =
    flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF0;
    SharedObject.defaultObjectEncoding =
    flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF0;
    Hope it works,
    Jeffrey

  • Has anybody actually succeeded in burning  96/24 audio onto a DVD-R?

    Has anybody actually succeeded in burning 96/24 audio onto a DVD-R and been able to play it back on a standard DVD player? iDVD apparently does not support 96/24 audio files. On three different computers, 2 MacBooks and a G4 Powerbook, with 5 different versions of OS 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 and several different updates to Toast 9, I still have never been able to burn a 96/24 Music DVD. 48/24 works, but that throws away half the musical information/resolution--and that really isn't satisfactory. Is there anyone out there who has actually succeeded in burning 96/24 Music DVDs with Toast Titanium 9???? If so on what machine and with what OS (and I suppose what version of Toast 9)? Any hints? Thanks

    Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Try having a read of some of the articles on this page. These cover the use of the Burn folder as already mentioned as well as various other methods.

    Has anyone not been able to get the iTunes installer to load properly and get a message like this: This iTunes installer is intended for 32 bit versions of windows. Please download and install 64 bit iTunes installer instead. I have tried repeatedly to get this to load, I have uninstalled iTunes completely and reinstalled and still get the same message. I have windows XP and a brand new ipod touch which I am trying to load.

    Yes, it's come up a number of times. If you look to the right under "more like this", you'll find threads that may offer useful suggestions.

    ok thanks, that's what I tought,looks like apple machines are only good for two - three years, the software developers are ahead of the hardware to a certain point, love macs but this is forcing us to buy new macs just to keep  up with development. There was a time it was the opposite.
    By the time we get up on new stuff it's time to change again. Gotta be rich to deal with macs ...LOL

  • Has anybody else been having trouble with there iPhone 4s randomly freezing and only unfreezing to shut down because the battery is dead?

    I have been using my iPhone 4s a lot mainly for email and to text my friends. I have also noticed that my iphone seems to have recently begun freezing up. It's done this a number of times, and ive only noticed it happen after i updated the software to 5.1 version. Has anybody else been having this problem? I have takin good care of my iphone, and I care to know why my 300 dollar phone is currently being out done by any 20 dollar walgreens phone that I have had in the past.

    I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
    The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
    if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
    Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
    turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Has anyone ever been able to get a Windows VPN to work on Airport Express?

    I've got an Aiport Express hooked up as my primary router for my home network. My laptop is running Windows XP and I'm using SafeNet as the VPN client. When I use any PC based router and open port 500 I cang et the VPN to work no problem. As soon as I started using the Airpot, I can get the initial authentication to work, but all secured data packets keep getting dropped. I have a feeling it's because UDP port 500 isn't being passed through (though apple's documentation says VPN passthrough is supported), but I'm not sure.
    I've seen a number of people with the same problem, but I haven't seen anyone get it to work. Has anyone been able to do this using IPSEC based VPN?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I'm an IT guy myself, with quite a bit of VPN experience under my belt, and I've thrown everything I know at the Airport with no success. I have a feeling the problem could be one of two things.
    1. The port forwarding feature is TCP only (ipsec needs 500 UDP)
    2. The VPN passthrough function is interfering with PC based VPN, and has only been tested with Apple VPN software.
    Has anyone tried contacting Apple support with this issue? Any official responses?

  • Has anybody else been having issues with their home button after using assistive touch for a little while?

    Me and my brother have been messing with Assistive Touch on and off since iOS 5 canme out. We been noticing that when we actually move to use the home button, sometimes it doesnt respond. Though I'm all for thinking my home button my be on the fritz, it wouldnt explain how mine and my brother suddenly have issues with our home buttons at the same time. Both of us had a time where the home button didnt respond at all. and its been intermittent ever since. Anybody that has an answer or another case like this I' d like some information

    Reset Home button steps:
    (1) Tap Settings App, when it is open:
    (2) Hold Power button until "slide to power off" bar appears.
    (3) Don't slide it, release power button.
    (4) Gently, continuously press Home button for few seconds until home screen appears.
    (5) Done.
    If this does not help, further points to Hardware Problem.

  • Has anybody else been seeing (Not Responding) at the top of the screen and having thier browser not respond to wheel scrolling and scrolling with the usual slider at the right part of the screen?

    I have noticed my Firefox browser is having way too many incidences where it is "Not Responding". The browser freezes up for a second quite often and the "Not Responding" message will appear at the top of the screen.
    The browser will also not scroll with either the scroll bar on the right nor with the mouse wheel. Both used to work in previous versions of Firefox, but it seems to have gotten worse since Firefox 5 0r 6. The same with the "Not Responding". It is happening more with Firefox 7 than in at least the past two versions.
    Anybody else having these issues? Seems like they are hand-in-hand. Thanks for any and all help or advice. It's making me pretty angry since I'm online all day for work.
    Just an FYI. At the bottom of my troubleshooting copy/paste is a suggestion to update the driver for my graphics. That was a no-go. I tried that.

    Thank you for this first reply! I'll have to give this a try later....the main laptop I experience this on crashed not more than an hour after I posted this issue. I'm on a tiny, slow netbook that hasn't had the same problem. Now I'm wondering if I picked up a Trojan on the main laptop and the "Not Responding" message is a side effect of a virus or Trojan.
    One of the system .dll files has been corrupted and I'm not being allowed to use recovery discs, previous disc images, or any recovery options. That was an all day sucker yesterday and from what I've read on forums and have researched, it appears I'm going to need to reload the operating system. If it is indeed a Trojan/virus, I'm surprised it made it through my antivirus and firewall. Anything is possible, really.
    Thanks again, I'll get back with results once I get the wounded laptop back up and running.

  • Has anyone ever been able to boot Clonezilla on a macbook?

    Is there any way at all to boot Clonezilla on a Macbook? Either a bootable Live USB stick or Live CD.
    Judging by the results of a google search, it would seem this is not possible.

  • HT4809 Has anybody else been experiencing mass USB keyboard death?

    In the last month alone, 9 USB wired aluminium type Apple keyboards under 18 months old have had one or more keys sticking or stop working from a user base of 40 users i.e. almost a 25% failure rate.
    The majority of these keyboards are already replacements for previous keyboard deaths of the same model and many have only been in service for 2 or 3 months before they die but sitting shrink wrapped in storage (cool, dry place) for 6 months or more before that, so warranties are questionable at best.
    These numbers exclude obvious keyboard deaths such as coffee spilliage. Generally users come in in the morning or back from lunch and suddenly their keyboard has stopped working either with keys being stuck or just parts of the keyboard dying e.g. no numbers or random keys such as "a" and "d" stop working. This can happen while a machine is running or on a fresh boot after a clean shutdown.
    Standard troubleshooting - change usb port, reboot machine, check the user has not turned on anything funny via system preferences all turn up no results. The onscreen keyboard does not clock the dead keys as being pressed but replacing the keyboard fixes the problem every time.
    Keyboard death is not OS specific as we are running OSX 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8 and keyboard death shows no specific swing to a certain OS. Plugging a dead keyboard into a Mac running a different flavour of OSX still shows the same symptoms as on the machine where the problem began.
    The usage is standard web browsing, email and document editing in an air conditioned office environment. We have a mixture of people ranging from those who still type with one finger to people who touch type at high speed but this does not seem to affect the life of the keyboard at all.
    These keyboards are a mixture of US layout and Japanese layout keyboards.

    Keyboards are a low power device.   Go to the system profiler to determine the power of the various port buses.   Plug the keyboard into the USB port that is not low power.
    Either that, or replace the USB cable, or add a USB hub that has wall power from outside the computer.

  • Has anyone ever been able to leave openbox for good?

    I just went on a little adventure over the past couple of days trying out different WMs and DEs.  I went from XFCE, to gnome, to XFCE, then compiz stand-alone and back again.  I found that in every environment I was trying to make it feel more like my openbox setup.  Finally I realized that I needed to come back to my comfort zone.  I must confess, the main thing I miss from using other DEs is compiz and its wobbly, snapping windows.  Not to mention expo, and the desktop wall.  However, I hate dealing with all the crap that comes with a DE, and compiz standalone is just not there yet.  I also dabbled in awesome because I like the idea of being able to tile my windows, but I don't work enough in terminals to go that far.
    Has anyone else ever tried to leave openbox? If so, why? Did you leave for good?

    The OP's question implies that you would want to leave Openbox.
    Btw, for those who enjoy the merits of tiling WMs, just configure your openbox to behave like one. I have the following in my rc.xml file which lets me very quickly arrange windows in a tiled layout with no wasted space on my desktop using the MoveToEdge and GrowToEdge actions. Using these actions on windows without decorations lets you created any tiled layout that you want (I tried Awesome before Openbox but just couldn't stand the limited layout options). All it takes is a few drags and clicks.

    <mousebind button="W-S-Down" action="Click">

    You could of course skip the mouse and create some keyboard bindings to handle all of this too.
