N81 Bugs / Issues Thread

I'm thoroughly impressed by this phone I love it's style, the keypad is great. I'm really loving the games so far and can't wait for the N-Gage application launch. The phone really works well.
Mostly...
I wanted to start this thread to raise a few bugs I have found and encourage other users to do likewise so that nokia 'might' take them on board for future firmware updates.
Incidentally I am currently using a N81-1 (8GB) with firmware 10.0.053.
I will update to 10.0.058 as soon as it becomes available for my UK phone.
1: Using voice commands causes the phone to hang for a few seconds and then reboot.
2: The headset microphone does not work when answering a call. However the hardware functions fine for making calls and recording sound clips.
cheers
Dave

Got this fone a week or so ago. The main bug I have found is the sleep mode:
With the fone closed and the keypad locked, the screen goes blank and the backlight goes out like it should, initially. Then after about a minute the fone lights up again without anything being pressed. Not just the flashing light to show it's on - fully lit up. The backlight eventually goes back to it's lowest level, but doesn't fully turn off (if you look carefully in a darkened room). There's nothing displayed on the screen throughout, but it must be draining the battery.
Anyone else have this problem?
Nope, don't have this bug.
Got the 053 firmware (20-09-07)

    Dear All, I am facing following problems:
    1. Battery Life updation fails most of the time. And it get stuck say 70%. Now again if I try to charget battery it starts counter from 70% even if battery life is lesser than that. So, after 30% charging I get a message Battery Charged. Sometimes it starts working.
    2. loud speaker problem.
    3. As Jarboni mentioned I noticed the bug - draggin the notificaiton bar using more than one finger reduces the brightness.
    Rest other things are fine.

    Hello all,
    I just got my K900 for a week now and I found that there are some bugs or settings which I am not familiar with.
    Therefore as there are no bug list thread in the forum, I thought its good to start one so people who are having issues can refer here and if its a bug then hopefully Lenovo will look into it.
    1) Dimming when watching videos / doing swipe down with 2 fingers dims the screen.
    Steps to replicate:- In your home screen, use two fingers to swipe down on the top status bar dims the screen. If use 1 finger to swipe down the top status bar, the screen brightness remains the same.
    For other issues, please post below so we can have a compiled list.
    Thanks all!
    Using two fingers to swipe down down on the top status bar opens the notification screen which is dimmer than the home screen. Looks like your notification bar pull down menu is not working.
    Try to Factory Data Reset you phone after backing up your data. It may work to restore your notification bar.
    I updated to firmware 0727, data is intact but custom settings got reset.
    Could determine only 2 changes after the update:
    Removed:
    Option for Animation & other settings for Magic Weather is missing.
    Added:
    Knock to Light feature added but works only when knocking twice on the lower central part of the display where the default lock screen buttons are located.
    Dint find any performance improvement or degradation.
    Other existing issues faced with my K900:
    1) Call drop on every other call.
    2) Wifi signal drops to 1 bar when touching any part on the rear of the phone, when placed on any surface, signal is full.
    3) Time in notification bar is incorrect and am unable to change it while the weather widget displays the correct time.
    4) Speaker not loud enough to be used a speakerphone while on phone call or skype video.
    5) Despite disabling vibration time & again, it keeps getting enabled all by itself.
    Has anyone else faced the above issues?
    Please advice
    Thanks in advance

  • Wifi Bug issues

    I suspected there is a software bug issues with the Wifi once you first install the Windows 10 Preview Technical Enterprise.

  • N78 v20.149 Bug List Thread

    Hi everyone, thanks for all your advice and comments now that v20.149 has been released here (only on FOTA and not NSU yet) are the changes I have noticed, along with some newly discovered bugs:
    NOTE: all the documented features/improvements are performed with the Theme Effects turned on.
    Changes/Improvements/New features I have noticed from v12.046 to v20.149:
    Standby screen:
    *While scanning for wireless networks in the home screen, instead of saying “No networks found” as in the past, it says “No WLANs available”, also some other minor name changes in this menu.
    *Share online icon in standby screen seems to be different
    *When going back to the music player via the standby screen, it goes straight into the player without a fading in/out transition as it did before when Theme Effects are turned on (an instantaneous response). However, for going into other sections from the standby screen the fade in/out transition still occurs.
    *When Music Player is operating, and seeing the track name on the screen, and then when one song ends and goes to the next track, the speed at which this happens is much improved although not flawless (there is still some lag).
    *Scrolling up and down through the entries in the standby screen is very fast and not slow like before.
    Call log, Contacts and calling function:
    *Calling speed (from standby screen to Contacts or Call Log) and transition to call/disconnected screens much faster and improved
    *Faster resume of music playback after call is ended
    *Volume bar is changed from ten dotted increment to continuous coloured volume triangle (this has also been reflected in other menus and options throughout the phone)
    Maps:
    *Maps updated to version 2.0
    Music Player:
    *Much faster interface and speed through all menus
    *Pressing volume keys is much improved and faster and more accurate response than before (where it may have taken time in the past for the volume level to update)
    *Music controls (i.e. Rewind, Fast forward, play/pause, stop) are no longer the same colour as the matching theme, now it is just the same light green colour across all themes
    *Visualisations are still a bit slow, but faster than before
    Photos:
    *Transition into the Photos application is much faster than before
    *Scrolling through photos and videos and the like is still jerky and thumbnails still take a while to be updated from pixelated to clear thumbnails
    Settings:
    *In Themes, there is a new theme called Music (very yucky looking I must admit)
    *Power saver now includes “Now playing” option, so when the backlight goes off, the currently playing song and time are displayed on the screen for a number of seconds before disappearing. This occurs before keypad lock is activated, and when any key is pressed, the names of the song light up (in green or red). Also when going from one track to the next while this screensaver is activated, the date is displayed briefly.
    Other:
    *General speed improvements across all menus and applications
    *Help function is much faster and speed improved
    *New help topics added to Help function
    *Speed dial now works without any lag
    *New RealPlayer interface and version updated (where the RealPlayer screen is no longer displayed but grey bars on top and bottom of the video)
    *About application has been updated for the year dates so that they are all “2009”.
    *Installation of applications and refresh of available applications within the Application Manager is much improved and faster (although icons for installed applications are now not displayed)
    *”Application update” added to Applications
    *Carousel menu has new options under each heading
    *Navi-wheel seems to have been tweaked a bit more
    *Background light settings actually work now
    *Truncated email-account login name fixed
    Other documented changes that have been stated by others for v13.052 and now v20.149:
    *Improvements:
    Connectivity:
    - System Error message appears when trying to stream a clip from a busy server
    - Timestamp corruption error in long streaming which leads to 'Error in receiving live
    content'
    -VPN not working through WLAN in offline mode

    - Mail For Exchange did not play tone for every mail received as per S60 3.0 and 3.1

    chosen

    *Carousel menu by pressing that small silver key is still inconsistent, sometimes appears with scroll bar and performance is still slow
    *Still no N-gage client within firmware
    I have yet to check all the bugs that were documented for v12.046 in the thread /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=42047&page=4, but I will go about that very soon and document all the changes here in this thread. But so far, so good, the firmware appears to be a lot better and more stable than 12.046. Again, thanks to all users for their current feedback on problems. Remember to be sure to add your experiences with the N78 here!

    My n78 froze at the standby screen when it rebooted itself during the upgrade from v12 to v20.149. The background image and active standby icons appeared, but nothing else - no network provider name, no battery or signal level indicator, no clock, no calender entries, no wlan scanning, no share online. I left it for 15 minutes or so before crossing my fingers and removing and replacing the battery (since the power button did nothing). Not a great start I thought. But it started up ok.
    new/unfixed bugs
    The clock alarm did not switch the phone back on after the first 5 minute snooze, but it did do the snooze resume thing when I actually switched the phone on 15 minutes later... I setup a "within 24 hours" alarm and that had no problems switching on the phone several times with a 1 minute snooze so I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if my weekday alarm snoozes properly now...
    The FM transmitter was transmitting at 107.5 even though the settings screen and active standby message showed 106.9 which I had set it to before the update... Viewing and saving the fm transmitter settings did update the frequency to 106.9 though.
    I'm still unable to set default numbers for some contacts - the contacts app exits to the standby screen.
    Unable to zoom camera/photos when musicplayer and fm transmitter activated.
    improvements
    At least the loudspeaker function works after using the FM transmitter now.
    Playback of videos through the images app seems much improved - i.e. it actually plays video clips all the way through without freezing the picture.
    I'll post more if I notice anything

  • N81 BUG: date jumps to nearest event entry(date) i...

    Hello folks,
    I have the following issue:
    After firmware update to 21.0.010 I found a weired bug: In may case I have a Calendar entry for 18 September of type "Anniversary" with alarm turned on for the same day (time 13:00) and I have noticed in the last few days (few days before and till 18 Sept) that my clock (date) start to jumps from current day (lets say that current day was 14 Sept) always and directly to 18 September any time I watch my phone in the morning (maybe there is something to do with the fact that I setup my phone every day to wake me up for the work and I also turn my phone off every night, so nobody bothers me till the morning when the phone turns on by itself and wakes me up).
    This behavior wasn't there in firmware v20.x.xx, because the phone never behaved like this before for the other events.
    Btw Network operator time (Clock's settings) is turned off, but I've also tried to turn on, but the behavior stayed the same.
    I hope someone from Nokia team will see it.
    V 21.0.010
    My phone: RM-223
    Nokia N81 (05.01)
    Prod code: 0550138

    Try to tap and hold for a couple of seconds in the day view, until you see a Green block appear. Once you see just let go anf you will see that you have an option to edit your event.

  • Merged clips and modified audio channels bug/issue

    My problem is that if I create a merged clip and modify it's audio channels Premiere (both CC and CC2014) does not respect the modification under specific circumstances. These circumstances are: if I use keyboard shortcuts or the source window buttons for overwrite/insert to cut the merged clip into a timeline. However, if I drag & drop the clip from the source window or from a bin into the timeline Premiere will respect the audio channels set through modify audio channels.
    Here are steps needed to create my problem. You will need a video clip and an audio clip with at least two channels to reproduce this.
    1. Create a merged clip from the video and audio. Does not matter if you have "Remove audio from AV clip" enabled or not.
    2. Right click on the merged clip in the bin and select Modify -> Audio Channels.
    3. Set the merged clip's audio channels to Number of Audio Tracks: 1, Channel Format: Mono. Set the source channel for Audio 1 to anything except Channel 1. Click OK.
    4. Make sure you have the merged clip open in the source monitor. Use keyboard shortcuts (. or ,) or the insert/overwrite buttons in the source monitor to cut the clip into a sequence.
    5. The merged clip in the sequence will use channel 1 for audio, even though it has been set to use another channel.
    6. Now try drag & dropping the merged clip from either the source monitor or from a bin into the sequence. It will now use the audio channel that has been set through modify audio channels.
    My workaround is to use drag & drop for now for affected clips, but in the long run this is a pain in the backside.
    My question is if this is something that affects other users as well. And while I'm waiting for a fix, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get modified audio channels to work properly, I will gladly listen.
    I have filed a bug report for this. I have reproduced this on multiple Windows 7 machines with Premiere Pro CC and on two Macs with both CC and CC 2014.
    EDIT to add: I have been in discussion with Rameez from Adobe about this through the support chat and have been told that this is working as intended. He suggested I post a thread about it to see how other editors feel about the functionality. I personally feel that the way it works now makes no sense at all. If others feel the same way, maybe this issue can be fixed in a future update. So please make your voice heard.
    EDIT to add: In most usage this might not be an issue at all. But if for example you have external audio on multiple channels and to make sure you have a clean timeline, you wish to remove extra tracks from your merged clips and those extra tracks happen to be any track before the last one(s), you will find that editing the merged clip in in any other way than drag & dropping it in the sequence will result in you losing those last tracks instead of any tracks in the middle that you have disable through modify audio channels. I would think that the audio channel modifications should work no matter what way you cut the merged clip in.

    Going to try, but here is my workflow and have not encountered any problems until this last P/U days footage.  I've been doing things this way because I found having all files in the project was causing it to crash constantly when I was working.  I have a new I7' processor IMac with 24 gigs of RAM.  And since Premiere does not allow you to have multiple projects open at the same time (Wish this would change.  Avid and FCP both allowed multiple projects) I have to do things this way.
    Pre-workflow Project File
    Label all Video and Audio files to match Scene #'/Takes
    Set in points on all video and audio to reflect slate
    Merge Clips
    Working Project File
    Import only Merged Clips into Project.  Either via import or copy/paste
    Now I've done this workflow from just about the very beginning.  Deleting all of the original source video and all audio clips from my working project so only my bins containing my merged clips remain.  Have had no problems and edit has been smooth.  Did a pickup day last week, followed same steps as I've done in the past, imported the merged clips into my working project and the clips have the audio set to none by default.  Now once I go into the sequence I can manually set it and it's there but I cannot play audio in the source monitor which is how I edit, there's no reason I should have to go back to the crappy FCP way of editing doing the copy and paste from a sequence.

  • N81 8GB issues (reset on WiFi, speakers background...

    I have noticed one serious bug, and few minor software glitches.
    1. When I try to connect to local Wireless Network, WEP secured, I enter the key in all CAPS. Phone tries to connect and RESETS.
    I have tried many times, it resets every time. Very unpleasant.
    I have then downloaded the nokia updater software and updated the firmware to the latest version. The same problem remained. Device restarts once I try to connect to the wireless network.
    Then I have tried entering the network wep key in lower case, such as abcde1a instead of ABCDE1A...you get the idea. That works.
    It connects to the network now and does not restart; however, once connected it takes a long time for it to display which network it is connected to on the first screen (lets call it a desktop, I am new to Symbian).
    From whatever I can figure out, if it works with wep key entered lowercase (works really fine) I do not believe it to be a hardware glitch?
    Few more things I noteiced.
    2. I got an application called 'Islamic Organiser' preinstalled. App manager simply refuses to delete it? Software bug?
    3. And the Speakers, they seem too loud, which is supposed to be so I guess. However, just prior the music starts you can hear background speaker noise. Is this supposed to happen? Once the music starts, you can not notice it anymore and music quality is good.
    4. SMS sorting by date seems to be broken, sorts by something else. Looks like SORT BY TYPE actually sorts by date. I might be wrong though.
    So, basically, it is a great, really great phone; with above mentioned issues.
    Thank you all for reading!

    I am in the US and have an Arabic version of the N81.

  • How can I tell that it is a hardware issue or ios bug issue with Iphone 4S Battery life & flapping 3G?

    Hi There,
    My Battery dies real quick on 4S compared to 4 eventhough my wireless is off, location services are off, the only thing on is the cellular data. I even adjusted the brightness to 60%.
    Another issue is that My 3G connection keeps flapping, goes & comes in a wierd way where it falls back to Edge.
    Am I to consider this part of the issues i can see so many people facing & therefore consider as ios bug & wait for the update or should I take it over to a service center to check the phone for me which means waste of time to get it done.
    Kindly advise from your experience

    It's almost always a software issue. Actual hardware problems are rare but can get very serious, if you recall the antenna issue last year.
    Reception problems just depend on how strong the signals are at your location. But if you're dropping to Edge even in strong areas, it wouldn't hurt to have an apple store look at it.

  • THE ULTIMATE PALM PRE POOR SIGNAL ISSUE THREAD

    The previous thread I posted can be deleted.  This thread has everything people need to read.  Here is the conversation I just had with Palm about the rampant signal problems everyone is having with their Palm Pre phones (side note, they say they'll be calling me back in a few days.  I'll assume they mean BUSINESS days and i'll post here again tuesday or wednesday if I don't hear from anyone.) :
    1:56 AM Connecting...
    1:56 AM Connected. A support representative will be with you shortly.
    1:57 AM Support session established with Sabino.
    1:57 AM Sabino: Hello David. Thank you for contacting Palm. My name is Sabino.
    1:57 AM David Doria: hi
    1:58 AM Sabino: I understand that you are facing issues with weak signals.
    1:58 AM Sabino: Am I correct?
    1:58 AM David Doria: yes.  weak, and also erractic.  sometimes i will get full bars, and then it will jump to one bar, or none...then be roaming, then Ev, then 1x...all in the SAME spot
    1:58 AM Sabino: I’m sorry for any trouble this may have caused.
    1:58 AM Sabino: May I know since how long you are facing this issue?
    1:59 AM David Doria: as long as i've been using a palm pre, but it is getting worse with time.  i've been using a palm pre since october of last year
    2:00 AM Sabino:  Let me know the webOS version on the device and your carrier name.
    2:01 AM David Doria: whatever the latest OS is.  1.4.whatever.  and i'm with sprint
    2:01 AM Sabino: This seems to be the issue with the network, all the network related issues were taken care by your carrier. I suggest you to contact Sprint. They will be able to fix the issue.
    2:01 AM David Doria: um, you said that before i even told you what carrier i'm using
    2:01 AM Sabino: I just pulled the details using your phone number.
    2:02 AM David Doria: you know that isn't true.  you know it's not sprint
    2:02 AM David Doria: i just told you all my other phones with sprint worked fine here and i've only been having problems since i got a palm pre
    2:02 AM Sabino: Okay, contact your carrier, they will be able to fix the issue.
    2:02 AM David Doria: i've lived here for 4 years and i've had sprint all 4 years
    2:02 AM David Doria: no they won't.  i've been contacting them for weeks.  they came out and checked the tower TWICE now.  there's nothing they can do.  it's a hardware issue for palm
    2:04 AM David Doria: there are threads all over the internet with hundreds of people complaining about having signal issues ONLY since they bought a palm pre.  now you're telling me it's a sprint issue and you haven't even looked at my phone yet.
    2:05 AM Sabino:  What I would like to do, is place your case into a special team that develops technical solutions. They will do further research on it. They would be in touch with you once they have further updates. I cannot commit to a specific callback period, but please know that we are working on your case. May I do that for you?
    2:06 AM David Doria: no, because i saw someone in one thread say that palm told them the exact same thing...in 2009
    2:06 AM David Doria: so you're basically saying you're forwarding the problem to a generic department to a generic person that i can't know the name of, with no contact info, and that there is no guarantee when they will contact me IF they even will contact me...but i should definitely believe they are working on the problem
    2:06 AM Sabino: What exactly you want me to do now?
    2:06 AM David Doria: that's ridiculous
    2:07 AM David Doria: i want you to tell me why palm is not fixing this problem with the palm pre and is instead telling me it is sprint's problem and then pretending to forward the issue to another department which has already had years to fix the issue
    2:08 AM Sabino: As I stated, all the network related issues are taken by carrier.
    2:09 AM David Doria: it's a hardware issue
    2:10 AM Sabino:  I am going to tell you about our 2 repair options:
    2:10 AM Sabino:
    1.  Repair return: After I create your service repair order, you receive an email with the details on how and where to ship your device for repair. The email also contains info on the follow-up process. After the repair center receives your device, you’ll receive a working device in another 5-7 business days.

    2:10 AM David Doria: you can't even KNOW it's a network issue without looking at the phone, and all evidence points to hardware since other phones on the same carrier work fine
    2:10 AM Sabino: Please go through the above 2 options.
    2:10 AM David Doria: this is my SEVENTH palm pre phone, sabino
    2:11 AM David Doria: as many others in forums will tell you, they have also replaced their phones MULTIPLE times hoping to fix this issue.  nothing works.  there is SOMETHING physically wrong with the reception capability of the palm pre
    2:12 AM David Doria: dude, stop copying and pasting what palm tells you to say and listen to me.  these phones do NOT work.  there is something majorly wrong with them and palm is cheating people out of hundreds of dollars a piece to save themselves the cost of a fix.
    2:13 AM Sabino: Please hold on while I transfer the chat to our Supervisor.
    2:13 AM David Doria: thank you
    2:13 AM Sabino: You’re welcome.

    2:19 AM Saben: I am sorry, I just want to know did you run the webOS doctor tool?
    2:19 AM David Doria: i've been talking to sprint about this for WEEKS now.  in case you didn't read the conversation, they've already come out to check the local tower twice now
    2:20 AM Saben: Okay. It seems that you did not use the webOS doctor tool on the device to check the issue.
    2:20 AM David Doria: yes.  the local sprint repair center used the tool when my phone froze during an update
    2:20 AM David Doria: yes i did
    2:20 AM Saben: Okay. Thank you for the information.
    2:20 AM David Doria: you're welcome

    2:33 AM David Doria: bye
    Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    So they finally called me back, but I didn't get the call because.....I had no signal.  HAHA
    I got their voicemail and called back.  First, they tried telling me YET AGAIN that it was Sprint's problem.  They said that if I call Sprint, they will give me a device to boost signal in my home.  I said, "That's fine, but what do I do when I'm in the rest of the country?"  Then they told me it was a software problem and that I need to run WebOSdoctor to reinstall the operating system.  I told them that this is my 7th Palm Pre.  I told them that Sprint already used the Doctor...like I told the online tech people.  But this guy on the phone wasn't having it.  He told me that he didn't think Sprint was able to do that (so I can, but Sprint can't =/?) and that I should do it just to be sure.  He said if that doesn't work that they will try out a NEW Palm profile and see if that fixes it.  If neither of those works, he basically admitted there are no other options.
    I asked him if there is some sort of way they can physically upgrade the antenna system with a better material or placement and he said that Palm has no department able to do that.
    I told him about the various threads online like this one, where dozens of people complain about the same  issue.  He told me to just do the WebOSdoctor and call him back.   I asked him if this has fixed signal problems for people previously and he said that he doesn't get to know the end result of his suggestions to customers.   How unprofessional is that?  How is the guy supposed to get better at his job if he's not allowed to find out if the fixes he suggest to people actually work?  That seems nuts to me, but i digress.
    I haven't tried the Doctor yet.  I'm going to, but I'm just being lazy because I know it won't work, and it's going to be really annoying to update my phone and backup photos first and all that good stuff.
    I will post back after I run the doctor and try the new Palm profile.  Until then, I'd REALLY suggest you all do what I did and call Palm, insisting they fix the problem, even if it means a recall.  They aren't gonna do it just for me, no matter how many times I complain.  That's a fact.
    If anyone DOES call Palm, it would probably be a good idea to bring up this thread and also to post here about what they tell you!

  • Database bug issue after upgrade ( version 8.1.7.4)

    Hi,
    Currently our database version is 8.1.7.0.0
    We have planned to upgrade our database to 10g Rel2 and for that we have already applied terminal patch set (i.e. 8.1.7.4).
    But after applying terminal patch set we came through list of the GENERIC bug fixes included in the 817X Patch Sets. i.e.
    ALERT: Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7) Support Status and Alerts
    Note :- 120607.1
    Actually in this note we are having confusion whether to apply the patch or not for the bug that is mentioned.
    Some are those which affect Oracle 8.1.7.X releases are :
    1)Trigger updates wrong after DROP functional index Note 259854.1
    2)Changing the Database Character Set can corrupt LOBs Note 118242.1
    3)Large export buffer can produce corrupt export file Note 223399.1
    4)Export can generate a corrupt export file Note 199416.1
    The first one has been applied successully, but having confusion with the remaining,
    Question regarding points 2 & 3 above :
    2)
    As we are not going to alter our database character set (WE8ISO8859P1) at 8.1.7.4, so is it required to apply the patch ???
    or will have to apply as we are going to upgrade it further to 10g Rel2(Here database character set might get change) for future upgradation ???
    3)
    Currently our database export is being done via conventional path
    Now, the workaround mentioned in the patch is as follows :
    (Patch is not available for Windows OS)
    Workaround
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    1. Prior to a Conventional path export, set the environment variable
    ORA_OCI_NO_OPTIMIZED_FETCH to 1.
    Windows:
    set ORA_OCI_NO_OPTIMIZED_FETCH=1
    OR:
    2. Export the data in Direct path mode, by specifiying the additional
    export parameter: DIRECT=Y
    So the query is,
    I am not getting any parameter like ORA_OCI_NO_OPTIMIZED_FETCH.
    Is there any parameter like ORA_OCI_NO_OPTIMIZED_FETCH in oracle 8.1.7.4 ?
    OR
    Will have to change the export method to direct mode ? by doing so will there be any adverse effect ?
    With Regards
    You are repeating a question that you already made on your previous thread.
  • 4.2 bug/issue: imported app is created but doesn't show up in builder
    Hi all,
    We are running into an issue in APEX 4.2 when importing an application.
    The issue is already explained in every detail several years ago on this forum but it wasn't answered:
    https://community.oracle.com/thread/2464689
    Any suggestions these days?
    Regards,
    Bart
    That would be because the PXI 5124 is a digitizer not a analog input device.  You need to use the NI SCOPE driver not NI DAQmx
  • Help: Collaboration Room Bugs/Issues
    Hi,
    I have created my own collaboration room template by duplicating the standard Information Site template.
    However, i am facing a few issues related to collaboration room creation, which might be standard features/bugs in collaboration room.
    1. When i create a new Room, all the users of that room (members as well as administrators) get full access to room documents, headers, news, Faqs etc.
    The permissions started working fine when i changed permissions in KM Content --> Room_Extensions.
    All the existing rooms showed the correct permissions.
    However, whenever i create a new room, every user gets full permissions to all the parts of the room.
    This is despite the fact that i have removed all the users from full permissions to the room_extensions folder in KM and reset the child permissions.
    2. I have attached the iView com.sap.ip.collaboration/TemplateContent/Homer/iViews/ com.sap.netweaver.coll.RoomMemberList (Team Members iView)to my room template.
    When i create a new room based on my template, i do not get the users specific to a particular room.
    What i get in the Team members list is all the users listed in the Contacts list in Collaboration Launch Pad.
    3. When i try to preview some of the iViews stored in com.sap.ip.collaboration/TemplateContent/Homer, i get an exception. On attaching these iViews to the Collaboration Rooms, i get a message stating "Invalid Item ID" index.xml.
    I get the same message even after attaching these iViews to a collaboration room template and creating a room based on the template.
    Any help regarding these issues would be highly appreciated. Full points for helping me with these issues.
    Regards,
    Vibhu
    Hi Vibhu,
    here my comments:
    1) These are the standard settings (every room member gets full access) for the permissions of KM content created during a Room creation. Since KM can't distinguish between the room roles, we can't set 'better/stronger' permissions. You can only set manually permissions on concrete users.
    2) It seems that you have not set the mappings for this iView. For the RoomMemberList you need the following settings:
    StartURI        room_rootrolegroup_rid
    path            room_rootrolegroup_rid
    roomrid         roomid
    in the documentation you find more mappings for iViews delivered by SAP, which You have to set in the templates.
    Please see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3f/fcfe06fd7f1321e10000000a114cbd/content.htm for more information.
    3) That's possible since some of the iViews needs certain iView-Parameters set to work properly. Please check if this iView needs some mappings under the link in the documentation under 2)
    4) Up to now we are treating groups as you described. We are working on a solution where we work with groups as room members and we don't resolve the members of the invited/added group.
    Regards, Erwin
  • How to "Fix" the 50% dreaded bug issue on almost all  android devices.
    I made a post about LG Ally having this issue a few days ago and I've done heavy research on this issue since then and found that pretty much all 2.1 devices have this issue. Yes google is aware of it and I've seen topics where verizon and htc said that they were aware of it too and all 3 companies are working to fix it and push an update. I tested a "fix" to this issue and it seems to work. I don't know if it's permanent but so far my Ally is not showing this issue so let's get to fixing.
    Here's the link to my LG Ally topic it has another fix there too:
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Android-Devices/Why-your-LG-Ally-has-horrible-battery-life/td-p/210036
    How to find out if your android device has this:
    --Go to [Settings>About Phone>Battery Use>Cell Standby (if you don't have cell standby in there than you don't have this issue, but if you do doesn't mean you have it, keep reading)>if your time without service is above 50% than you have the bug.]
    The fix that I've been testing:
    --Open dial pad and dial *#*#4636#*#* (If Testing menu doesn't come up than click "Call" and it will come up)>Go to Phone information>Scroll down and you'll see preferred network type>click it and switch it to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
    Now your issues should start going away and the time without service will slowly start decreasing. For the first few hours my time without service stayed at about 11% but than dropped to 0% in 24 hours.... You might need to do that step a few times before your phone makes that option a default one. Your phone might try to change preferred network type so check it every 2-3 hours on the first day.
    Which method.  I would imagine the airplane mode is a temporary fix.  Something about it resets the radio apparently.  With the *#*#4636#*#* method you need to keep checking it.  I have 2 issues with it though.  First it does take several attempts before the change sticks.  Second since there appears to be no GSM radio I can't see why this is an advantage at all.
    I have searched and searched for anything that would explain why this is there and why I can select it on my Incredible but not on my Dad's Moto DROID.  Is it possible that the Incredible does have a GSM radio?  I can't select a band it force closes on me so I have to assume it doesn't however if you change it to CDMA/GSM AUTO and ping it apparently it does seem to find GSM signals.  That is intriguing and a little disturbing.  Intriguing because if it is there and inactive then there is a way to activate it and in theory you could use the phone on any network.  Disturbing because there is no mention of it anywhere and no way to choose a band.  That disturbs me as well because the choosing the band thing, which I could do on my dad's Moto Droid had options for Wimax, several versions of CDMA and all the current itterations of GSM including the new TMobile signal.  How cool would it be if you could unlock GSM on this phone and use it on literally any network.  I guess it doesn't matter the main advantage we have is the network but if the phone is completely unlockable it makes it that much more valuable.
