Navigate to needed row in hierarchical table
Hello everyone.
I have a problem related to Table UI Element. In my case it has hierarchical structure. By default, all nodes are collapsed. I need to provide user with ability to find nessesary element: if it's leaf, then all parents above have to be expanded and row is selected. I did this. Unfortunately, if found row has big index, it isn't displayed and I have to scroll down to find my selected row. I know that I can set "FIRST_VISIBLE_ROW" property of table. But how can I determine index? Internal table which is the source for hierarchical table has different number of rows. For example my internal table has 700 rows, when in the UI table only 120 rows are displayed.
Does anybody know?

Need help in SQL Query: Update a row in a table & insert the same row into another table
I want to update a row in a table say Table A and the updated row should be inserted into another table say Table B. I need to do it in a single SQL query and i don't want to do it in PL/SQL with triggers. And i tried with MERGE statement but its working with this scenario. (Note: I'm using Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0).
Thanks in Advance.Using Sven's code as an example, you could save the updated row in a sql plus variable. (also untested):
SQL> var v_id number
update tableA
set colB='ABC'
where colC='XYZ'
returning id into :v_id;
insert into table A_History (ID, colA, colB, ColC)
select id, ColA, ColB, ColC
from tableA
where id = :v_id; -
Need to send text string to new row in expandable table
I have a table that is a summary of other choices made throughout the document. For specific check boxes in the form, there is a defined phrase that needs to be sent to a new row in the summary table.
The general idea is that for checkbox:
form1.sfMain.sfContent.tableC2.Row1.cbC2b6
if (this.rawValue == "1") {
this.resolveNode('form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A._Row1').addInstance(1);
this.resolveNode("form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A.Row1[*].ddApp6A1c").rawValue = "Blue bottle";
This needs to be something I can specify for each applicable checkbox (each will have a different text string), but I don't know what the final count is going to be (depends on choices made by the user) so I can't delete rows in the table and start over every time. It needs to be additive.
Any suggestions?

[SOLVED :)] Need help with adf table row selection
Hi,
In my application I am displaying results in a table. The DisplayRow property of table is set to Selected
There are Next and Back buttons which help user to view details associated to the next/previous rows.
I am using ADF 11g
When user clicks Next or Previous button, then the selection of the row should also gets updated
To achieve this i wrote below piece of code:
this.tblS.getSelectedRowKeys().clear();+
this.tblS.setRowIndex(count);+
RowKeySet rks = tblS.getSelectedRowKeys();+
rks.add(tblS.getRowKey());+
rks = tblS.getSelectedRowKeys();+
ISSUE:_
When i run application and click Next/Previous Button, all functionalities do take place properly, but a null pointer exception is also thrown._+
If i remove DisplayRow property of table from Selected to Default, every thing works good and no Exception is thrown_+
But as records in my table are going to be around 50-60 everytime, i need to set DisplayRow property of table to Selected.
Is there any way to achieve this? Solve this problem?
Some more details:_
I am using a POJO class to create DataController. This DataController is having a view Object which is used to create results table.
I have defined Primary key for my POJO Data Controller.

Edited by: user11255144 on Feb 8, 2010 5:33 AMHi Arun,
Thanks for replying.
Actually in my application there is one result table and a section that is displaying complete details of the product selectd in result table.
The next/previous buttons are not binded with result table.
What I am doing is, I am puuliing data from VO and displaying it on form, whenever any of these buttons is clicked.
As soon as these buttons are clicked data is coming up, but selection state of table is not getting updated.
So to update selection state i wrote piece of code described in my previous post.
Everything works fine if displayRow property of table is not set to selected.
If i set display row property of table to selected, then i get a null pointer exception with message log defined in previous post.
Although NPE is thrown, yet all data is properly fetched and table selection is also updated. But am not able to get how this NPE is coming and hpw to fix it .
(I need to keep displayRow = selected, for all other cases NPE is not thrown)
Please help..
Thanks and Regards

Need to add a blank row to a table when checkbox selected
Hi ALL,
I have a custom page having 2 check boxes and few fields , i am doing search operation by entering one checkbox checked and few other fields and data displaying in table region.
my requirement is when i select second check box and click one button as add new row it should create a blank row in the table, means table should availabe with a blank row so that user can insert data,
please help me on thsi
ThnaksHi there ,
If you 're working with advance table then you have an default option to create a blank row , please through topic 'add another row '
in jdev guide .
If you are working the regular table region then you might follow the below code suggested .
Create a new item of the type button ( not submit button ) and handle the event in PFR of your controller class
String addRow=pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM); // "addRow " is an event attached to table
if("addAnotherRow".equals(addRow))
am.invokeMethod("AddRow");
In AMimplementation class :
public void AddRow()
OAViewObject headerVO = (OAViewObject)getsdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVO1();
sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVORowImpl rowh = (sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVORowImpl)headerVO.getCurrentRow();
rowh.getPacelineHeaderId();
OAViewObject lineVO = (OAViewObject)getsdaPacelineWorkupLineUpdateVO1();
Row lineRow = lineVO.createRow();
Row lineRo = lineVO.last();
lineRow.setAttribute("PacelineHeaderId",rowh.getPacelineHeaderId());
lineRow.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
lineVO.last();
lineVO.next();
lineVO.insertRow(lineRow);
lineVO.setCurrentRow(lineRow);
lineVO.setCurrentRow(lineVO.last());
Note : Replace your vo name in place of sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVO1()
Please let me know if you have any questions .

I Need Help In Deleting Table row by clicking on "Delete" button inside the
Dear all,
first i'm new to Swing
i have created table with customized table model, i fill this table using 2d array, this table rows contains JButtons rendered using ButtonRenderer.java class and action listeners attached by the AbstractButtonEditor.java
what iam trying to do is when i click on a specified button in table row i want this row to be deleted, i found some examples that uses defaultTableModelRef.removeRow(index), but iam using customized table model and the following is my code
JTable tblPreview = new JTable();
DbExpFormTableModel model = new DbExpFormTableModel();
tblPreview.setModel(model);
//adding the edit button
tblPreview.getColumn("Edit").setCellRenderer(new ButtonRenderer());
tblPreview.getColumn("Edit").setCellEditor(new AbstractButtonEditor(new JCheckBox()));
//adding the delete button
tblPreview.getColumn("Delete").setCellRenderer(new ButtonRenderer());
tblPreview.getColumn("Delete").setCellEditor(new AbstractButtonEditor(new JCheckBox()));
and here is the code of the code of my customized table model ( DbExpFormTableModel )
public class DbExpFormTableModel extends GeneralTableModel
public DbExpFormTableModel()
setColumnsNames();
fillTable();
private void setColumnsNames()
columnNames = new String [5];
columnNames[0] = "ID";
columnNames[1] = "Database ID";
columnNames[2] = "Prestatement";
columnNames[3] = "Edit";
columnNames[4] = "Delete";
private void fillTable()
int numOfRows = 2; // = getNumberOfRows();
data = new Object[numOfRows][5];
data[0][0] = "1"; //we must get this value from the database, it is incremental identity
data[0][1] = "AAA";
data[0][2] = "insert into table 1 values(? , ? , ?)";
data[0][3] = "Edit";
data[0][4] = "Del";
data[1][0] = "2"; //we must get this value from the database, it is incremental identity
data[1][1] = "BBB";
data[1][2] = "insert into table2 values(? , ? , ? , ?)";
data[1][3] = "Edit";
data[1][4] = "Del";
and this is the GeneralTableModel class
public class GeneralTableModel extends AbstractTableModel implements Serializable
public static Object [][] data;
public static String[] columnNames;
//these functions should be implemented to fill the grid
public int getRowCount()
return data.length;
public int getColumnCount()
return columnNames.length;
public String getColumnName(int col)
return columnNames[col];
public Object getValueAt(int row , int col)
return data[row][col];
//i've implemented this function to enable events on added buttons
public boolean isCellEditable(int rowIndex, int columnIndex)
return true;
public Class getColumnClass(int c)
return getValueAt(0, c).getClass();
public void setValueAt(Object value, int row, int col)
//fireTableDataChanged();
data[row][col] = value;
fireTableCellUpdated(row, col);
And Now what i want to do is to delete the clicked row from the table, so please help me...
thank you in advanceHi Sureshkumar,
1. Create a value attribute named <b>select</b> of type boolean.
2. Bind the <b>checked property</b> of all the checkboxes to this attribute.
3. Create an action called <b>click</b> and bind it to <b>OnAction</b> event of the button(whose click will check all the checkboxes) and write this code in that action.
<b>wdContext.currentContextElement().setSelect(true);</b>

How to populate the selected row details of table in the next view?
hi,
Im having a table, on selecting a particular row of a table by clicking on a radio button. i need that row details to be passed on(populated) to the next view when i navigate to that view by clicking on a button?
Thanks & Regards,
SureshHi Suresh,
Your scenario is simple. Just follow the ex as shown below
(Assuming you want default selection view provided by table itself.)
1>Create 2 views (Ex:A and B)
2>Create a Context with a node and attributes(For Ex:Person as node and Fname and Last Name as attributes
2>In A view create a table with F name and L Name(map to context as well) and a action button to navigate to B view when you selected a particualr row o.k
3>In B view, create a TextView with mapping to LastName(or all the data if you want from input selection) from the context
If you want you can add back action button from B view to A view for easy navigation.
4>Execute the application and select any row in the table appeared, press next action button,you can see that the selected row details will be shown in second(B) view.
If you do the above example, I think you can easily find the solution for navigation issue.. try it out.
In case if you are not able to ...let me know..I have that example.
Hope that helps
Regards

ADF Table - Command buttons disappear when no rows returned for table
We have a command button that navigates to a create screen, when the table returns no rows the button disappears. We need to have this displayed always and within the ADF table. The code looks like:
<f:facet name="selection">
<af:tableSelectOne text=""
binding="#{Search.tableSelectOne1}"
id="tableSelectOne1">
<af:commandButton actionListener="#
bindings.ExecuteWithParams1.execute}"
text="Edit n"
action="edit"
binding="#{SearchCtgry.commandButton3}"
id="commandButton3">
<af:setActionListener from="#{row.Code}"
to="#{processScope.toCode}"/>
</af:commandButton>
</af:tableSelectOne>
</f:facet>try placing the command button within the "actions" facet of the table. It will place it above the actual rows of the table. You could also use the "header" facet.
<af:tableSelectOne text=""
binding="#{Search.tableSelectOne1}"
id="tableSelectOne1">
<f:facet name="actions">
<af:commandButton actionListener="#
bindings.ExecuteWithParams1.execute}"
text="Edit n"
action="edit"
binding="#{SearchCtgry.commandButton3}"
id="commandButton3">
<af:setActionListener from="#{row.Code}"
to="#{processScope.toCode}"/>
</af:commandButton>
</f:facet>

How to query 2 hierarchical tables and join?
Hi
I've been bashing my head against a well to get this to work efficiently in 10g. I can solve the following writing some pretty horrible SQL, but can't figure out how to do it elegantly and optimally.
We have two hierarchical tables as follows:
select * from data_categories dac
dac_code name parent_dac_code
10 MANAGEMENT
20 MEDICATION 10
30 PROCEDURE 10
40 SURVEY
50 ASSESS
60 NATURE 50
70 OBSERVE 60
select * from data_elements des
des_id name parent_des_id dac_code display_seq
100 DOSE MEDICATION 1
110 1MG 100 1
120 2MG 100 2
130 3MG 100 3
140 ROUTE MEDICATION 2
150 ET 140 1
160 EM 140 2
170 RESPONSE MEDICATION 3
180 IMPROVED 170 1
190 NOCHANGE 170 2
200 FILED MANAGEMENT 1
210 INPUT OBSERVE 1
You'll note:
1) We have hierarchies in both tables, and a fk from data_elements to data_categories via the dac_code.
2) The depth of both data_categories and data_elements is unlimited.
3) There is no single root node record in either table.
4) The appropriate PK and FK indexes exist.
We need to write a query that returns the following results:
root_dac_code parent_dac_code des_level des_id name display_seq
ASSESS OBSERVE 1 210 INPUT 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 100 DOSE 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 110 1MG 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 120 2MG 2
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 130 3MG 3
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 140 ROUTE 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 150 ET 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 160 EM 2
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 1 170 RESPONSE 3
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 180 IMPROVED 1
MANAGEMENT MEDICATION 2 190 NOCHANGE 2
MANAGEMENT MANAGEMENT 1 200 FILED 1
You'll also note we need to return the data in order of the root_dac_code, then parent_dac_code, followed by the display_seq.
Does anybody know how to write this query in an elegant and optimal manner?
Many thanks for any help!
Cheers,
CM.Flakey model.
Why does data_elements.dac_code appear to refer to data_categories.name rather than data_categories.dac_code?
You do not appear to be ordering by root_dac_code, parent_dac_code and display_seq (if you were MANAGEMENT/MANAGEMENT would not be at the end). Did you perhaps mean ORDER BY root_dac_code, des_id, display_seq?
Something like this perhaps?

How can I display "detailStamp" facet selectively for rows in a table ?
Hi,
My JDEV version is Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0
I am trying to display "detailStamp" facet selectively .
If I read api in link below
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/apirefs.1112/e17488/oracle/adf/view/rich/component/rich/data/RichTable.html
Use the "detailStamp" facet on the Table to include a collapsable content area for each table row. Please note that the height of the open detail area will be a set height based on the height of the detailStamp component. Adding a component that changes in height (like showDetail or panelBox) will by default produce strange results when the detailStamp component's height changes.
Detail Stamp can be selectively displayed for rows in the table by EL binding the "rendered" attribute of the "detailStamp" facet to "true" or "false". The EL binding can contain references to the table "var" attribute since during rendering it will be executed in the context of the row. Disclosure icon is displayed only for rows which have rendered="true".
I can see that i can achieve it by setting rendered property for that facet. BUT this property is not available in Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0Hi Frank.
Thanks for your quick reply .
But I am using Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0 . In this version the property RENDERED of f:facet name="detailStamp" is NOT allowed.

Put in another way , I want to render the "detailStamp" facet selectively for rows , so for that I need the RENDERED property of "detailStamp" facet. This property is ONLY available in Jdev version 11.2 . I am using Jdev 11.1.1.5.0 so I need some alternative to RENDERED property as this property is NOT available in Jdev 11.1.1.5.0.
Please suggest some way to achieve this behaviour of displaying "detailStamp" facet selectively ....
Thanks!

Creation of new Row in Tree Table
We are creating a new row using CreateListener which is written in Bean, after creating the row, we are adding it to the iterator and the new row is not getting highlighted and focus is not in new row in the table by default. It takes an click to make it editable. 'setActiveRowKey()' method didnot help here which is used in the af:table component to achieve the same.
Any pointers regarding this issue would be helpful..
Thanks,
ShruthiHi Max:
According to what you described, it's really wierd. An ADF table is Surrounded by a panelCollection or not doesn't matter in terms of CreateInsert operations, I think. Also each step you said OK doesn't mean that step is 100% problem free towards your final goal. For example, when you drag and drop and ADF table onto a JSF page, you forget to turn on 'row selection', it will be OK, you won't get any error message, but later on when you find that you need to turn it back on, you have to go back to JSF page source, to manually added codes to do so.
The simpliest solution and quickest one is to reinitiate a clean ADF project and do it all over again. It's simple straightforward in my view. Probably don't use PanelCollection first, just drop your ADF table on a form, or af:panelForm, but make sure your table and 'CreateInsert' button is surrounded by a form, otherwise, when you click on 'CreateInsert', nothing will happen. When everything works, then probably back it up and replace your form or af:panelForm with panelCollection. See how it goes.
Thanks,
Alex
