Hi All,
I need to display two text documents with their differences highlighted. Is there a Java open source package that can do this? Or is there any Java API that can be used for this purpose. I want to display graphically( like a xml diff tool) the differences.

i need a open source implementaion or some api written in java so that i can integrate in my product. Given two files the utility should compare 2 files(any format) and return me the differences. I have googled a lot but was not able to find any in java. Is it that java is not that preferred for file operations when compared to c/c++?

I'd say - don't get carried away with the heavyweight frameworks. Don't use EJB if Hibernate and/or Tomcat will do the job. There's a danger of winding up using a bulldozer to crack a wallnut.
What people mean by "J2EE" varies a fair bit.
Start with Tomcat, which has the virtue of being free. Try some JSPs and servlets.
Use Applets to do client side presentation only if you must; Applets create an installation overhead on end-users, and some of them can't cope, while others may not have the necessary installation permissions on their office machines. They are pretty rarely needed, IMNSHO, most client-side behaviour is better handled with html and JavaScript.

There's no reason you can't go on using iWeb for this - with iWeb '08 you have to publish to a local folder (i.e. on your Mac) and then upload the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) to your hosting service: and you have to make sure you enter the new URL in the Publish information or the feed won't work properly; this done, an iWeb podcast should work fine.
Of course there is still the problem that iWeb is not supported and sooner or later a system upgrade may break it. You could look at RapidWeaver: you can make podcasts with that, though the last time I looked into that - which was admittedly some time back - I didn't feel it was ideal for this. There are lots of other podcast creation programs or services around. WordPress is OK but it may be a bit of a steep learning curve: Libsyn is an online service that seems to work reliably. Blogger writes messy feeds but does usually work. Podcast Maker used to work well - I used it myself a few years back - but it rather looks as if it's gone moribund and it may not be reliable with Lion/Mountain Lion, so you would want to check into that.

i have long wished to find a way to avoid the need to reselect the editing tools (underline, highlight, strikethrough) in acrobat x. this was the case in version 8, it meant that you could make multiple underlines etc in a document without returning to the toolbar each time to select the tool.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Bring up the Properties toolbar (Command+E) and select the tool you want. You should see a "Keep tool selected" check box.

What features do you need in a LabVIEW build tool?

When developing LabVIEW applications, libraries, and components often ones needs many more features than the Application Builder provides. For example:
* excluding certain directories from the build
* defining custom destinations for specific source directories
* optionally convert destination folders to LLBs (or EXEs)
* adding a Namespace suffix so that all VIs in the built application have globally unique names.

All you can do is turn off the phone. SMS text messages are sent on the same network as voice calls - there is no way around that. You cannot change how they are routed.
iMessgae, will use a wifi connection, when available, but otherwise your text messages will be sent and received over the cellular network.

Diff and Merge tools

Anyone care to recommend a free diff and merge tool?
I dl-ed compareandmerge which works nice, but is a limited trial.
I know there are a ton of diff tools out there but if anyone thinks theirs is particularly good, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I like ExamDiff for Windows. It was free last time I downloaded it, but I haven't looked in a while.
I don't know of any good merge tools, streamy. I'll have to crib what comes back from others.

Need Help with the Clone Tool

I need help with the clone tool, in that when I clone (let's say grass as example), the new cloned area does NOT come out as sharp as the area selected. It comes out much softer and somewhat blurred. I have the opacity and flow both set at 100%. This is very frustrating since I can not get a true clone.

what "tip" do you have selected? where are you sampling from ( found in top option bar) ALSO make sure MODE is normal

Need help using the selection tool

I have some strange (to me) occurrences while using the 'quick selection tool'...
Explanation
I'm using PS Elements 11 on a Win 7 (64) PC.
What I want to do is to create a new pic from an existing pic. The existing pic's background is unsuitable for what I want. But the FG is what I need. I thought that selecting the FG object and placing into a new pic would be what I needed using the <quick selection tool>.
To do this, I am trying to use the <quick selection tool>. I've had varying degrees of success using it. One main thing I don't understand & pretty much renders my project useless & undoable, is the fact that whenever I use <refine edge> so that I can refine my edge selection, my pic is immediately lost or taken away. Since I have no idea as to what's happening, I am forced to close the pic (W/O saving changes, of course) & then re-opening the pic. All's well until I click the <refine edge> button again, then, my pic disappears AGAIN!
My guess is that maybe the pic is somehow transformed to a layer or something. But, how can I turn this behavior off and not make my pic disappear??
There are a few more details about this <selection tool> that I'm muddy on. Is there something where I can read more about its use? I would love to know more, but how? Where?

There are many selection tool and way to extract a subject. There are more way in Photoshop then in Photoshop Elements you should ask over in the Elements forum to get answers suitable for elements users. You may get answers here that are not possible to use in Elements. Photoshop Elements

Here is the directory structure of my program. My log4j.properties file and HelloWorld.class file are residing in folder HelloWorld\bin.

Please note - The same program works fine for console and file appender when I comment the database appender part in my properties file.

I am a visual artist for the most part.
What I am working on musically, primarily, are longer-playing instrumental pieces. Today I'm working on mix of one for my new website (it will accompany a video that was shot and edited by an award-winner...). So music will play when my art video is playing.
Some of my paintings (cropped) can be seen on my user profile. The art will give you an idea as to the music, perhaps?
I am looking forward to using Logic for adding my music to films of my visual art I shoot, but that is another day. (Hopefully any software I need will be easily found, then!)

What operating system are you using?
You don't see the tool options bar (Window>Options) or your looking for the Analysis Menu which is now under Image>Analysis?
You can also get select the ruler tool from the toolbox

I want to restrict PDF reader to achieve Digital Rights Management (DRM).
Do I need to pay anything to Adobe if I inject java script to achieve so using some open source library?
Basically I want my PDF documents to be restricted such that I can:
Limit printing
Prevent screenshots
Restrict access by license expiry date
Restrict distribution of downloaded PDF (i.e. the document should run on specific machine only)
Restrict copy and paste within PDF document

I think it is a vain hope to imagine you could implement DRM via JavaScript. Remember it can be turned off.
Printing is either enabled or disabled according to document security.
Working with PDFs does not require permission from Adobe but
* adding functionality to Adobe Reader definitely does; a DRM development license is a major investment.
* if the file is Reader-enabled, all third party tools will disable that.
