Need a pause in tween animation

I want to use tween animation to move 6 or more images onto a stack in the middle of the stage. (I can do this). When all the images are in the stack, I want the images in the stack to disperse to various parts of the stage.
Can't seem to get a pause in the movement that i need. Anyone know how?
Thanks,,,

if you want to delay the execution of a tween you'll find it easier to use one of the third party tween classes (like greensock's).  they all have delay parameters that make staggering tweens especially easy.

  • Captivate 8 pausing on PPT animations instead of playing through to the end of the slide.

    I imported a 26-slide PowerPoint 2007 presentation with animations into Captivate 8 and added two separate Captivate 8 simulations. When I preview, Captivate pauses at each and every animation. I would like for it to play through the entire slide that has been timed to a narration, and the user will only have to click to move to the next slide. Am I too ambitious or missing a critical step/setting? Please help me if you can. I've checked everywhere I can think of. The only thing that seemed to work was when I ripped all of the animations out of the PPT. It behaved then as I am hoping for it to do when the animations are in the ppt.

    You'll have to check the PPT: maybe it is set up to need a click for each animation instead of just being timed (following in sequence)? Captivate is just recording (creating sort of movie clips, one per slide) literally what is set up in the PPT.

  • Graphics2D and AffineTransform needs object-reuse for smooth animation!

    Hi,
    I'm currently working on a graphical framework for animation using Java2D but has come to a dead end. The goal of the framework is to deliver smooth animation on various platforms, but this seems impossible due to the following fact:
    I have a tree of graphical objects i render on a Graphics2D-object. Some of the objects to be rendered are transforms on the Graphics2D instead of visible objects - this way I can have transform-objects in my tree which will affect all child-objects. This is all very nice, but when doing transformations on the Graphics2D A LOT of objects are being created by the implementation of Graphics2D (SunGraphics2D). I've designed my framework to utilize object-reuse and cacheing-mechanisms to ensure no garbage collection is performed when actual animation is in progress - if gc's are performed, this results in visible pauses in the animation. Now, I would like to ask if someone knows how to get around this problem, or suggest I simply abandon Java2D?
    The details of my problem is the following:
    When doing transforms on the Graphics2D-object which is passed to every object in the tree (and hence, a lot of transformations are being done), a lot of FontInfo-objects are being created - even though I don't use any of them - it's all in the subsystem. The source in the SunGraphics2D is as follows:
    // this is called by my framework to rotate all childs in the tree
    public void rotate(double d) {
      transform.rotate(d);
      invalidateTransform(); // the evil starts here
    // this is called a lot of places in SunGraphics2D
    protected void invalidateTransform() {
      // a lot is thigs are going on in this method - cutted out...
      // before this method returns, the following takes place
      fontInfo = checkFontInfo(null, font); // now we are getting there
    // this is the method of pure evil object allocations
    public FontInfo checkFontInfo(FontInfo fontinfo, Font font1) {
      // every time this method is called, a FontInfo-object is allocated
      FontInfo fontinfo1 = new FontInfo();
      // and a lot of other objects are being created as well...
    }I have come to think, that Java2D is pretty old and should be pretty mature at this point, but now I doubt it since object-reuse is a pretty obvious way of doing optimizations.
    Has any of you experienced the same problem or maybe found a solution to doing transformations on a Graphics2D-object without a ton of objects being created?
    If you would like to have a look at the problem you can do the following:
    Make yourself a little program which is doing some transforms on a Graphics2D-object in a loop (to emulate the 25fps animation and the transform-objects in the tree). Now use your favorite memory profiler (I use JProbe Memory Profiler, free evaluation) and see for yourself - the objects which are garbage collected includes a ton of FontInfo-objects and many AffineTransform-objects.
    If I do not find any solution to this problem, I'm forced to face the fact, that Java2D is not suitable for animation-purposes - gc's during animation is no solution!
    Thank you for your time - hope to hear from you soon.
    Regards,
    // x-otic.

    I think the main point is java transform objects are to slow to use in animations. They definitly have there uses, but for fast animations you need something more optimized.
    If you assume a general graphic objects has getHeight, width, x, y, render(). You could do translations using these general properties at an abstract level, letting each graphic object implements its own way to render itself and use the properties.
    I tryed to make sense!

    I need help making Adobe Edge animation appear correctly on iphones, ipads and android phones. It currently looks fine on desktops and androids. I am using wordpress with a responsive theme (Canvas). I will need you to document The url is http://adamhtc.org.s183459.gridserver.com.

    Thanks George, interesting thought.  I looked on Adobe's site and they "advertise" fillable forms for the iPhone and Android markets, but on the Windows Phone tab, that is mysteriously missing.  lol    Maybe it will come later?   Meanwhile, I'll google to see if there are any PDF viewers that can handle it now.   Thanks for the reply.  :-)

  • How to play a movie clip with a tween animation

    I created a movie clip symbol with a tween animation and created an instance of it on the main stage. The animation is in the movie clip timeline, not on the main timeline. I cannot get the mc to play using mc.play() or mc.gotoAndPlay.  What am I missing??

    Hi Ned, thanks for the response;
    1.Yes I named the instance.
    2.I  don't beleive so. I started from the library creating a new symbol, added the graphics, added the key frames, then created the tween. Then I dragged the symbol onto the main stage and named the instance. So I don't think there is a movie clip inside an mc.
    Here is the main timline:
    Here is the mc timeline:
    Here is what I'm trying to do:
    stop();
    blk1._visible = false;
    blk2._visible = false;
    blk3._visible = false;
    ppk1._visible = false;
    ppk2._visible = false;
    ppk3._visible = false;
    storeCartons = new Array();
    storeCartons = [blk1, blk2, blk3, ppk1, ppk2, ppk3];
    startButton.onRelease = function() {
        myNumber = Math.floor(Math.random()*storeCartons.length);
        trace("myNumber "+myNumber);
        activeCarton = storeCartons[myNumber];
        activeCarton._visible = true;

  • Use Slider to control timeline of tweened animation

    I have 3 pictures and animated it using motion tween as
    usual.
    Now, I want to create a slider so that user can drag along
    forward and backward so that the tweened animation moves
    accordingly. Eg the whole motion ends in 10 sec
    If user drag slider to far right it goes to 10 sec frame and
    if it position to middle the movie go to 5th sec. etc.
    How to do this to associate the slider to frames ? The adobe
    official site does not have document on this. Please help.
    Thanks.

    You have to make your own slider.
    Sliders are based on the idea to find the percentage of the
    position of scroller to it's maximum position as a ratio 0-1 (0
    left, 1 right) and multiplying that ratio with a value (in your
    case the number of frames). As least that way I can think of them
    and create them.
    You can utilize this link I just created to solve your
    problem, where you move a scroller/slider to navigate into the
    timeline:
    http://www.sp7.gr/adobe_forum_data/06_TimeLine_Slider.zip
    I tried to make the slider portable, thus you can initialize
    it with a preferred width and set the number of frames it will
    handle...

  • Do I need to pause Time machine when I install Aperture 3 ?

    do I need to pause Time machine when I install Aperture 3 ?

    If I had to anticipate when TM was about to run and then quit Aperture I'd really be disinclined to use it.
    Not always, but you have to give TimeMachine a chance to make at least once a full backup. If Aperture or iPhoto are open, when Time Machine is running, you will only get incremental backups. I cannot find the corresponding Aperture document right now, but see this:
    iPhoto '11: Back up your iPhoto library
    Important:   Time Machine can’t do a full backup of your iPhoto library when iPhoto is open. To ensure that Time Machine does a complete backup of your library, quit iPhoto periodically before backing up.
    To restore photos, quit iPhoto, open the folder containing your iPhoto library, and then open Time Machine.
    I noticed recently, that TM had never made a full backup of one of my Aperture libraries and was a bit scared, because I am relying heavily on TM. So I try to remember to quit Aperture before connecting my backup drive. It is not dramatic, if I do not do it everytime, but I make sure, I get a full backup of each library at least once, after I created it.
      Early versions of TM had a problem where if Aperture was running and TM did its backup there was a chance the whole library would be backed up rather then just the changes but I thought this was fixed in later versions of TM and/or Aperture.
    You are referring to this, right?
    Mac OS X v10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2: Time Machine may back up the entire Aperture Library each time
    In Mac OS X v10.5 through 10.5.2, Time Machine may perform a full backup (rather than incremental) of the Aperture Library, resulting in heavier-than-expected disk usage for Time Machine backups.
    This can happen if the Aperture library is included in Time Machine backups and a backup occurs while Aperture is running.  In this situation, Time Machine excludes the Aperture library from a backup while the application is running, but backs up the entire library once Aperture quits, rather than just the changes since the previous backup.
    Resolution
    Download and install Mac OS X v10.5.3 or later. Afterwards, when you use Time Machine it will perform incremental backups as expected.

  • Clock where i need a pause in it

    I have created a vi with 2 clocks in it. I need a pause function in this clock. When i press pause it should wait for the start butten to run the rest of the time.
    When i press reset the clock stops totaly. When i press start then the Clock starts to run from the first clock.
    How to fix this???

    Hello Shea,
    I need for the part Endurance a pause function.
    I'm using this VI to control a endurance sequence for High Pressure Cleaners.
    This means it runs for a time with control over the Liquid flow and Pressure.
    If the Pressure is to high or to low / if the flow is to high or to low the endurance sequence should be paused. When i have checked the HPC on failure and somthing is broken (example: the high pressure hose) is replace that part, and press then pause on the screen and the system runs again. But when the HPC is broken the in reset the clock to 0 with the reset button.
    i have also changed the vi with the clock in it. Placed in the VI: Flow and Pressure control.
    I didn't try the breakpoint function yet, because i'm still le
    arning with Labview. i'll try it later on today when i get the time for it.

  • Need to pause the action

    I have one action with 15 steps . How can the action pause at 7th and 11th step in 5 seconds ? I insert Stop but after the action stops I have to click play button to continue- it takes time. Thanks for your help.

    You can use the built-in action pause playback option but you will need to create two scripts. One to set the option to pause and the second to set it back normal.
    function setPlayback( optionID, seconds ) {
        //stringIDToTypeID('accelerated')
        //stringIDToTypeID('pause')
        // second argument required only when id = pause
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID('Prpr'), charIDToTypeID('PbkO') );
            ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('capp'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
            var optionsDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
            optionsDesc.putEnumerated( stringIDToTypeID('performance'), stringIDToTypeID('performance'), optionID );
            if(seconds!=undefined) optionsDesc.putInteger( stringIDToTypeID('pause'), seconds );
        desc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('T   '), charIDToTypeID('PbkO'), optionsDesc );
        executeAction( charIDToTypeID('setd'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    setPlayback( stringIDToTypeID('pause') , 5 );
    and
    function setPlayback( optionID, seconds ) {
        //stringIDToTypeID('accelerated')
        //stringIDToTypeID('pause')
        // second argument required only when id = pause
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID('Prpr'), charIDToTypeID('PbkO') );
            ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('capp'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
            var optionsDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
            optionsDesc.putEnumerated( stringIDToTypeID('performance'), stringIDToTypeID('performance'), optionID );
            if(seconds!=undefined) optionsDesc.putInteger( stringIDToTypeID('pause'), seconds );
        desc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('T   '), charIDToTypeID('PbkO'), optionsDesc );
        executeAction( charIDToTypeID('setd'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    setPlayback( stringIDToTypeID('accelerated') );
    Then where you need the pause have the action run those two scripts.

  • Changing tweens/ animation in new scene

    I am trying to create different scenes with the same character doing different things in different scenes.
    I have created and animated a character in scene one.
    I saved the character to the library and pulled it into scene 2 to do a different animation with it.
    Unfortunately, when I delete the tweens of the character in scene 2 they also disappear in scene one.
    Can anyone help how I can use the same character in different scenes and create different tweens/ animation with it? Thank you

    It sounds like you are either not creating the tweens properly or you are creating the tweens within the character symbol rather than on the timeline.
    A timeline tween requires having the same symbol at the start and end of the tween.  If you are seeing Tweens getting created in the library as you create the animation you are not creating the tween properly.
    If the tweens are within the chareacter symbol, then removing them from that symbol removes them from every instance of that symbol.

  • Need to pause Background music during .flv playback

    Hello,
    I have a project that has 2 .flv videos, and I need to pause the background music while the user is playing those videos- is there an advanced action that would let me do this?  Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

    No worries.
    I looked through the Cp4/5 system variables and I didn't see a way to manually set the background audio to 0%.
    I don't know what else is going on in your slide so this may or may not give the effect you want, but can you mute the background audio in the slide properties and add the narration audio to an invisible object on the slide?

  • Motion Tween animation hanging/pausing in browser

    Let me start by stating that I am a complete and total noob to web design, programming of any type, and flash animation.  I've spent more hours watching videos on YouTube and reading web pages than I ever should have.  I've created my first flash animation for my business website that consists of four pictures moving across the page, with the final picture fading in.
    The problem I'm having is that as the first two pictures reach the side of the page where they exit, they pause for a second or two.  This happens even when the animation is fully loaded.  I need to smooth this out as it makes the intro feel very sloppy.  Any help/advice on how to smooth this out would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Yes, I placed each picture on the blackboard, then right-clicked and selected Create Motion Tween for each one.  When I watch the animation in Flash CS4 it hangs up for a second where the first and second layers overlap, and then where the second and third layers overlap.  But it transitions smoothly between the third and fourth layers.  I did fail to mention that the first, second, and third tweens all consist of motion whereas the fourth tween is simply a fade in for a static image.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

  • Flash`s Best Tweening/Animating Practices

    Hi there (again),
    Looking for best practices over the net I found only some obvious things such as organize your library, layers, frames, one layer for actions only and these kind of things.
    What I want to know is something more... I don`t know, advanced, maybe?
    Here is my context: I`m learning ActionsScript 3.0 now and with it Flash too. However I did already know the basics of Flash animation (tweening, creating buttons with gotoAndPlay functions and so on). Earlier I used to make some simple animation sites which didn`t use actionscripting (just stop, play, gotoAndPlay/Stop and that basic stuff).
    Now I`m learning actionscript and I find myself in a completly new world on which I can make animations without needing the timeline that was the fundamental part of my earlier knowledge.
    I ended up finding the TweenLite opensource library ( http://blog.greensock.com/tweenliteas3/ ) and now I even more end up making animations through actionscripting.
    Now I find myself in doubt of when I should use frame animations and actionscript animations.
    Let me give you an example.
    Making site with between sections animations (something like fade out to leave a section and fade in other one). When you click a button you need to fadeout the current section and fade in the other one.
    Well, usually I wouldn`t know how to do this. Now I know 2 ways (lol).
    Method 1 (using frames): For each section I have a fadeIn animation (frames: x until x+10 with a stop() at the end) and a fadeOut (x+11 until x+21 with a gotoAndPlay(nextSection).
    This way, when I click in a button I just change the nectSection string and run the play() command.
    If I`m in a section it means it is stopped at the end of the FadeIn parte. Clicking a button will execute play() command and will show the fadeout animation. When it gets to the last frame it will go to the next section fade in frame.
    If I`m in the middle of an animation the play() command wont disturb the animation. Only the nextSection will be updated. Keeping the site smooth.
    Method 2(using actionscript): Here it isn`t important how do I do this since you can do it in many ways. But it is important to know that I can make it with 1 keyframe in the timeline. Can make it with coding only.
    Can you guys see what I`m trying to explain? I just don`t know what is the best way to make my site with lots of buttons rollin rollout animations, sections, subsections and everything else since I can make frame animations and coding animations.
    Is there any best practice for this ?
    Thanks again,
    Oscar

    There are no tips relating this subject?
    Thanks

  • I need help with a button animation!

    Hi,
    I hope someone can help with a simple-looking problem which
    nonetheless has me stumped!
    I have a feeling that I've missed something obvious.
    I've created a movie clip to act as a button (I've called it
    "abs_button") and placed it on the stage.
    My main movie has one frame.
    Within the "abs_button" movie clip there are 5 layers.
    Labels, actions, default button state, rollover state and rollout
    state.
    Technically, default button state, rollover state and rollout
    state could be on the same layer as they don't overlap, but I've
    given each animation its own layer for clarity.
    FRAME 01.
    Default button state is one frame with a graphic of the
    button. Just a label at the start ("abs_up") and a "stop();" action
    at the end.
    FRAME 02 to 31.
    Rollover state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
    ("abs_over"), "stop()"; action at the end.
    FRAME 32 to 62.
    Rollout state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
    ("abs_out"), "stop()"; action at the end.
    All animations were achieved with tweens.
    My initial "abs_button" code:
    on (release) {
    getURL("targetPage.htm", "_self");
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay("abs_button", "abs_over");
    on (rollOut) {
    gotoAndPlay("abs_button", "abs_out");
    As it stands, the animation jumps to frame 1 of "abs_out" on
    rollout.
    I need the "abs_over" animation to always play through to the
    end, as the "abs_out" is "abs_over" in reverse (i.e. image grows
    large on rollover and shrinks again on rollout.
    I've tried for 2 days to solve this, but I clearly need help.
    My experiments with variables simply didn't work.
    I would be grateful if someone could tell me where I'm going
    wrong!
    Thanks,
    Andy

    use this:
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay("abs_over");
    Since the code is attached directly to the movieclip, you
    don't have to
    identify the clip. A gotoAndPlay() function takes a frame
    number or a
    frame label name as its argument, never the name of the clip
    that
    contains the frame number or name.
