Need a PL/SQL debugger support NCHAR type

Hello,
I'm looking for a PL/SQL debugger which supports NCHAR type of Oracle9i. I need it to watch variables of unicode data type (AL16UTF16).
Or, if you could share with me how you debug your stored procedures which involve unicode data types.
Thanks.
Yanli

Thanks for the reply, Barry.
I use PL/SQL Developer for sql debugging. Unfortunately, it won't display a variable of NCHAR type, the watch window simply shows blank. I also find a freeware called Tora which supports unicode input/output, however, to debug stored procedure one needs to compile the procedure using its compiler first, and it just hangs all the time.
If you know some debugger which work good with NCHAR type, please let me know.

  • Will SQL Developer support data type anydata

Will SQL Developer support datatype sys.anydata in future releases?
Currently SQL Developer will not show any data for columns of type anydata.
    Example:
    create table t1 (id number, col1 sys.anydata);
    insert into t1 values(1,sys.anydata.convertvarchar2('TEST'));
IF I export data from this table something like
Insert into T1 (ID,COL1) values (1,'SYS.ANYDATA'); will be generated.
The grid will display 'sys.anydata' for this column
    Versions:
    WINXP SP3

  • Transact-SQL debugger not working in SQL Server 2008: "...debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier..."

I have recently installed SQL Server 2008. When I try to execute a query against an Access database, I receive this debugging error:
"Unable to start Transact-SQL debugger. The Transact-SQL debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier versions of SQL Server. (SQLEditors)"
Nor will the query execute; I get a transport-level error 0. Any thoughts?

    Hi Davidmhjr,
    >>Unable to start the Transact-SQL Debugger. The Transact-SQL Debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier versions of SQL Server. (SQLEditors).
Have you tried to restart the server once you have installed SQL Server 2008? As Naomi N mentioned please check the version of SQL Server you are using.
If you tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2008 SSMS, you would not be able to debug and get this error, it happens because T-SQL debugger includes both server-side and client-side components. The server-side debugger components are installed
with each instance of the SQL Server 2008 Database Engine. The client-side components are installed when you install the SQL Server 2008 client-side tools.
So it works with SQL Server 2008 only so far. Another way is you can triy to use SQL Server 2005 SSMS to connect to SQL Server 2005.
More information about configuration requirement to run T-SQL debugger as below, please refer:
There are no configuration requirements to run the Transact-SQL debugger when SQL Server Management Studio is running on the same computer as the instance of the SQL Server Database Engine. However, to run the Transact-SQL debugger when SQL Server Management
Studio is running on a different computer from the instance of the Database Engine, you must enable program and port exceptions by using the Windows Firewall Control Panel application on both computers.
On the computer that is running the instance of the Database Engine, in Windows Firewall, specify the following information:
•Add TCP port 135 to the exceptions list.
•Add the program sqlservr.exe to the exceptions list. By default, sqlservr.exe is installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.InstanceName\MSSQL\Binn, where InstanceName is MSSQLSERVER for the default instance, and the instance name for
    any named instance.
•If the domain policy requires network communications to be done through IPsec, you must also add UDP port 4500 and UDP port 500 to the exception list.
On the computer that is running SQL Server Management Studio, in Windows Firewall, specify the following information:
•Add TCP port 135 to the exceptions list.
•Add program ssms.exe (SQL Server Management Studio) to the exceptions list. By default, ssms.exe is installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE.
    Hope it is helpful.

    Thanks, Subbu

Yes, you have to use Unicode data types such as nchar and nvarchar to store the data. See https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191200(v=sql.105).aspx

  • How do I view downloaded content when the error message, not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged, shows up?

I trying to download a book as a pdf to view through my adobe reader. But every time I do I keep getting the same error message saying that the file is not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged it can't be opened or viewed. What do I do and how do I get it to work. Because as of now I only have one option of downloading the book and I've tried to download the app notable pdf to see it that worked but it didn't either. As of right now I'm using google chrome but I also tried using Safari but it's still not working. I have a Mac with a Mac OS X updated system. I need an answer ASAP. Can anyone help me?

I have the same issue.  Almost none of the PDFs I download from Safari browser can be opened. Same message about the file being damaged or not really a true PDF.  Neither of these are the issue here. Size of file is not an issue. I have Acrobat Reader XI so I believe that's pretty up to date.  If I open with Text Editor the file is blank.  any ideas?

It sounds like your file associations are messed up and Reader is trying to open your .jpg files. Is this correct?
If so, you just need to change the associations to choose what application opens them. Here's how: Change File Associations in Mac OS X

  • MS Word not listed in Acrobat 9 supported file type (Windows 7 64 + Office 2007)

    Installation details:
    Windows 7 64bit O/S
    MS Office 2007
    Acrobat 9 Professional
When attempting to create a PDF from multiple files or combine multiple files into one PDF (single or package/portfollio) Microsoft Word is not listed in the supported file type drop down menu. This means when I navigate to a folder containing *.doc files I cannot see them. I tried adding *.doc files via drag and drop but Acrobat listed red exclamation marks stating it could not convert that file type. MS Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher appear in the supported file type list.
I believe this may be a Windows 7 compatibility issue as the same problem occured when using Acrobat 8 Standard prior to installing Acrobat 9 Professional. MS Word files are supported when both Acrobat 8 & 9 are installed on a Windows XP system.
I can create a PDF of individual MS Word documents using the acrobat tab inside MS Word itself.
I have thousands of Word files I need to combine into PDF portfollios (packages in Acrobat 8 I believe).
My great appreciation if you can provide any help.

Well, thumbnails in Explorer don't work either, but we're not concerned about it.  The preview pane is what we're worried about.  There is a button in the top-right that turns the pane on.  Previewing in Outlook does not work either.

  • Using Maverick, error message: Adobe Reader could not open '***.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

Receiving error message using current Maverick version: "Adobe Reader could not open '***.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).".  Is fix the same as on previous OS versions?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

I had to set Binding Style to Oracle Positional on the View Object declaration (Button of page).
Saw this somewhere when I searched for the error but it didn't connect...
    Anyways, problem solved.

My project involves lots of Complex Type data, I like to know if the current BPEL PM support the Complex Type that I just described?

    Hi June,
BPEL PM Supports complex type return. I am not why you see this error in debugger. can you enable the bpel domain debug (under BPEL Console-->Manage Domain-->Logging) and send us the debug log? Is it possible to send your process (including wsdl + xsd) to our support email at [email protected]?

user569548Thanks for those who have bothered to view this thread. I have googled and struggled and found out that Oracle supports ROWID type by:
    (1) ResultSet' method getString() rather than getRowId(), which is weird.
    (2) and oracle.sql.ROWID, CF java.sql.RowId.

  • Dynamic SQL on Unicode data types

    Hello,
We're in the process of converting our database to support Unicode. So, converted the tables to NCHAR/NCHAR2 from CHAR/VARCHAR2. Now, dealing with stored procedures. Here's a stored procedure that's causing issue:(I am just giving the part of the code that's causing issue)
    create procedure xx_xxxxx(
    v_sql_txt nvarchar2(2000),
P_CV1 IN OUT COM_DEFS.CV_TYP) -- CV_TYP is a ref cursor type declared in COM_DEFS package
    as
    begin
    OPEN p_cv1 FOR v_sql_txt1;
    end;
v_sql_txt is built my the application and getting passed to the stored procedure.
It gives an error PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type.
After some digging, I found that NVARCHAR2/NCHAR types are not supported in OPEN .. FOR.
Could someone of you suggest an alternative to this?
    Thanks
    M.

Apparently you don't understand the difference between characterset and national character and you are heading in a completely incorrect direction.
You should change the characterset of the database NOT the national characterset.
    Consequently
    - you should NOT change all CHAR to NCHAR and VARCHAR2 to NVARCHAR2
    - you should change the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS of the database to CHARACTER (as opposed to BYTE)

  • "the file has an un-supported compression type"  appears today after updating Premiere Pro CC

Started computer, Opened up TX ATTO project today and portions of an existing project is off line after project opens, and does not ask you to relink as it is opening.
A segment of a sequence in the timeline is Off Line. Go to Relink, then find clip, select, then “the file has an un-supported compression type” appears as you select the correct clip to “relink”. Will not let you relink. Fun Fun
I did nothing but edit yesterday and e-mail. Nothing new or opened, except update CC PP. The clips that it need to link with are there.

MTS files, from a SONY FS100 camera. First time we have seen this occurrence with multiple boxes running PP CC.
I tried some just basic tests.
It was only one clip. So I copied it to the desk top, renamed it something different and it relinked that specific clip thru the entire timeline. Weird. Something with the clip name with in the project got corrupt, because even the specific back up  of the RAW media clip on our server said the exact same error.
    Problem solved.
    Thank you for responding!
