Need an idea of how to gather input in workflow
Hi Folks,
Any one with an easy ways to gather information in a WF so all people can see the info all along in the WF.
Example:
Person 1 enters info
Person 2 enter additional info
Person 3 display the info and do some stuff :o)

Workflow Log can be seen from the inbox or the display/change transactions of the triggering object (if implemented with GOS - Generic object Services). Log will show who are the agents for an incomplete WI or who executed a completed WI and its outcome. If you are looking something more than the log - (what did Person 1 and 2 change), you may have to write a custom report or build that intelligence into your workflow. Change Documents exist for most of the standard objects and the change history can once again be displayed from the objects's maintenance transactions. If you are dealing with a custom object, your application should keep track of the changes.

you already did the first part of validating. You have already found out, if it was a "C" the user typed in. Now do the test on "F" and if it was neither "C" nor "F" print an error message.

How to pass input value to the IN parameter in a function
Hi ,
I'm new to pl/sql programming.
The below function is used inside a package and the package is invoked in visual studio.
The function uses 2 input parameters.
Out of which 'in_report_parameter_id' value comes thru job processor service 's job request.
The second IN paramter values are hard coded in the function.
I'm not able to understand this.
If the values are hard coded , how to make sure that only the hard coded values are the right ones?
Please anyone could explain to me?
I really dont have good idea about how to pass INPUT parameter to the functions or procedure
Is there any nice document which could give me good understanding about what are the ways or types we could pass values to the input parameter in subprograms?

You have 2 input parameters, in_report_parameter_id and in_which. I could not find where in_report_parameter_id was used in the program, but the value passed in for in_which is being used in IF logic to decide how to open the cursor. After the cursor is open rows are being fetched and eventually the cursor is closed.
The values in_which are compared to are hard-coded. It is the programmer's job to make sure the values listed are the right values and the actions taken are also correct. Your program is assuming that if the first 2 values are not encountered the third one listed is the one you want.
To pass input values to a procedure you merely provide the values as a literal or variable in the call, something like

Need idea on how to replicate muti/multi choice form
I am working on trying to "computerize" a set of NCR forms we use for Home inspections.
So far, so good. I have check boxes, radio buttons, and more....
BUT...
I have a lot of lines that are multiple/multiple choice entries that work fine on paper, but I can't figure out how to present them on a electronic form...
Example:
Oven/Cooktop
[ ] Deterioration/Damage/Not Functional/Unsafe/Near End of Lifespan*
[ ] Not Inspected (power/gas off) [ ] Upper/lower Element-burner - not functional [ ] Heavy Corrosion/Wear
[ ] Recommend anti-tipping device (2) [ ] Gas shutoff valve not visible / none (2)(4)
On paper, I could select (check) the initial box, then circle "Damage " and "Near end of Lifespan"
Without creating a checkbox for EVER option, does anyone have an idea about how to present these type multi-option options.
I have 16 pages PACKED with choices like this. Pull downs don't help me much, as then the user can't see all the options.
We will use Pull downs for some of the canned comments, and other field type for simple (short) lists...
PS...thanks to this forum I figured out how to have text fields appear & disappear based on check boxes. Anytime there is a *,2 or 4 I need a comment to appear on the summary page...now if only I can figure out how to make the summary page look nice with missing fields....One possible option is to use a button that trigger a pop-up menu to open,
where the user sees all the options at once and can select one of them.
This would require a bit of scripting, though, and the only advantage over
a drop-down menu is that all the options are visible in a single window, as
opposed to a scrollable list. -
This may be a basic question... but in InDesign, how does one determine the pixel size of a text box? Specifically, we need to write text to specifications of 600 pixel width, and have no idea a) how to scale a text box to specific pixel width, b) how to determine what word count we can fit in, and c) how to do it in a table? Set your ruler increments to pixels Preferences>Units & Increments. You can fill the text box with placeholder text Type>Fill with Placeholder text and get a word count from the Info panel with Show Options turned on from the flyout.

The easiest way to use it is to install the 'Real Media' player:
1. RealPlayer BBC.app
2. RealPlayer 12.app
I have both installed & use them sometimes.

Need idea on how to do question and answer program
I want to create a troubleshooting program where it asks the user questions until its drilled down to an appropriate answer.
I've done this with a web server before but I can't seem to figure out how to do it in a program without involving many many forms. Any ideas on how to do the UI?
Thanks!Building an expert system is not a trivial process so for a commercial app you'll need to do some research. For an internal app you should probably use a database. For a school project you can get away with storing the data in a file that is loaded into
memory (or simply building the data in memory directly). In any case you'll need to define a table of questions. If you support questions with fixed answers then you'll need a separate table for the answers associated with the questions.
If questions can be different types (as mentioned previously) then you'll also need to track the question type with the question. For the relationship between questions you can go different ways depending upon your requirements. If question 1 with answer
A goes to question 2 but answer B goes to question 3 then you can create a simple reference table that indicates what the next question is given the current question and answer, basically a state machine. If a single answer opens a whole series of questions
then you might do better to group the questions together and manage the transition between groups of questions. It really depends upon your requirements. You'll want to research state machines to implement this though.
On the UI side you really don't need to dynamically create anything. The only thing that changes between questions is the text and possibly the answer format (if you support multiple questions). As I mentioned earlier you can create a separate container
(Panel) for each question type and then show or hide the container based upon the type of question (from your database data). This eliminates the need to dynamically create the UI. -

How to reset input Text value on click of root menu item navigation link ?

I am facing this issue across the pages.
I have a root_menu.xml based navigation available as links at the top of ADF application. Some of the menu links directly have JSPX pages having the content being loaded , and others are JSPX containing Bounded task flow.
Issue :
On the click of the menu links, the page gets reloaded / refreshed , however the input value given on the page remains displayed even after refresh.
We need the page refresh along with any input test box getting cleared on Menu item click.
Any pointers as to how we can resolve.
ThanksIf your page is in a taskflow (which it should be as you use pageflowscope), you should have a method action in your task flow which you call to clear all the values you use in the UI.

I'm trying to connect my 30" Cinema Display to my new Mac Pro along with a new Apple 23'" monitor. The new Apple monitor is fine. On the cinema monitor everything is blown up pretty large. Any ideas on how to solve this?

After connecting my Apple TV this morning, I have no sound. It is hooked up to play through my television speakers. Any ideas on how to get sound? Also, I tried hooking it up through my surround receiver, but could not get it to come up on my ty screen, what can I do to correct this problem?
Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?
