  • Req suggestion to start up Career for SAP consultant

    Hi all,
Can u suggest me how can I start up my career as SAP Consultant in SD or WMS, I have 7 + years of  Experience in Both the modules as End user now I want to start up my career as consultant... Can u plp guide me how to Start up and what are required for the same?

    Hello Surender,
It good that you have chosen a path to be an SAP Consultant.
As a end user for more than 7 years, you will be familiar with business process and with SAP technicalities too.
So, you can go ahead and give certification exam. If you feel you need a training before giving certification, You can have a formal training in SAP authorized education partner and then apply for certification.
While going through this, i wish to tell you some things which a person should keep in mind while going for certification.
Kindly do Remember, SAP Certification is not a Job Guarantee Program. Certification may add a value to it if you possess enough domain knowledge.
Companies Need Consultants who have good experience and knowledge in Business scenarios.
So, if you are good with Business process and have a valid SAP certification, then it will be easy for you to crack the interviews and get a break in your consulting career.
Regarding to your question about which module to choose SD or WMS, It is up to you to choose a module, Learn and Excel in that. There is no standard answer for choosing a module.
I would suggest you to choose a module in which you know the business process more.
All the best for your SAP Consulting career.

  • How Can I run a .vbs (Visual Basic Script) file on Linux?

    Hello, I have a doubt:
How Can I execute on Linux a .vbs file? I can't use wine cause it is not a .exe file.
    Is there any way?
    Greetings

    Mikko777 wrote:http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/visual-ba … linux.html learn to use google
Google works, yes ... if you know what you are searching for. Try this search: VisualBasic is not VBScript.
Here is what you will need (consult an attorney first):
    - Wine
    - Windows Scripting Host (WSH) 5.6* (available officially from MS website, but requires validation):
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta … laylang=en
    * There is an update to 5.7 also available form MS
    - You will also need (from your Windows installation):
    mfc42.dll
    - Once you have the files placed in your Wine '/system32' folder (via installer or extraction), you will need to register dll files. At minimum, I think you can get by with:
    wine regsvr32 /path/to/vbscript.dll
    wine regsvr32 /path/to/wshext.dll
Others may be required ... if you get more messages alerting you to register files, just repeat for each one necessary. Or register them all and be done with it.
Once you have WSH setup, you can launch the VBScript file by opening 'winefile' and double clicking on the script. From the command line, you will need to launch it with 'wscript':
    wine wscript "Z:\\home\\user\\.wine\\dosdevices\\c:\\Program Files\\test.vbs"
If you attempt to launch the VBScript with just:
    wine "Z:\\home\\user\\.wine\\dosdevices\\c:\\Program Files\\test.vbs"
you will get a message about 'BAD EXE Format' or similar.

  • Free Goods - (ISA 5.0)

I am using the ECC/R3 "edition" of E-Commerce (ISA 5.0)...NOT the CRM flavor. I am trying to see if anyone has successfully configured the 'free goods' functionality. Although, all of the documentation I have seen confirms that ISA 5.0 supports it and there are options within the XCM to enable it, it does not work.
To be more precise, when 'free goods' is enabled, it generates a 'runtime error' inside the java basket when trying to create new orders.
Has anyone successfully got this working with the R/3 edition of Internet Sales? I've talked with SAP and got two different answers. They first told me to disable 'free goods' to 'get rid of my runtime error' problems...so I did. Then I talked to another SAP person who said, "free goods is supported, but you will need consultation to get it working."
At this point, I'm just looking for anyone with experience with this. Enabling the functionality kills the basket and renders the application useless, yet there are no SAP notes out there to correct this.
So, does it work or not?
    Any feedback is appreciated..
    Thank you.

    Hi Mr Bryan Fickle
Did you have a solution for your Free Goods , because i am having a same problem ,

  • Change u201CDefault for baseline dateu201D programming. Have you ever do it?

    Hello colleagues,
I want to pay to my vendors with the u201CBase line dateu201D equal to the entry date of the treated document.
    For this reason I set several payment-terms with u201CDefault for baseline dateu201D = u201CEntry dateu201D.
This ran perfectly in FI transactions (fb01, fb05, ...), but the result was wrong with MIRO. I posted a Note to SAP and I was replied with the typical u201CThis is the standard behavior and you would need consulting service for your need.u201D
Then I decided to change the u201CDefault for baseline dateu201D to u201CNo defaultu201D in these payment-terms, in order to set the value I want with programming. But I have a lot of problems because apparently there isnu2019t a unique point to change in order to get the desired behavior. There are a lot, and in each t-code the called function is different. Have you faced up to a similar case? How did you solve it?
    Thanks in advance.

you really have a lucky hand in finding poor documentation.  Why dont you directly search in help.sap.com
The technical archiving process is well doucmented there, step by step.
further you should search OSS notes with key "MM_MATNR", there are plenty, make sure you are current with notes before you start. But more intresting in the beginning are the consultant notes there, explaining the errors  you may discover when archiving materials.
of course you have to do this for any object that you need to archive before.
Which objects this can be in theory can be seen in the network graphics, this answer was already given.
But you have such a network graphic for any object that you need to archive before.....
of course you do not need to archive any object there, just objects you use, and only those records from the object that are relevant to the materials you want to archive.
Usually you set up a archving project, defining residence times for all potential archiving objects, then you do customizing and finally you start testing and then real archiving. this is explained in much more detail in help.sap.com and service.sap.com/plm
And do not underestimate the effort. you need consultants from any module, and people from the business, and good to have auditors as well in the project. you will certaiinly face possible error, any process that is not defined and excuted clean from beginning to the end will give you headaches.
I had a 50 day project (just my time),  to get familiar with the object, doing its customizing and execution (this can be different from object to object, even you start everything from SARA) and of course documentation. I have already spend more than 70 days in 3 years (it is not a high priority project) and I have not really archived materials that were in use yet.
if a material was never used in dependent objects, then you can archive it right away.
SAP does extensive checks (and you many have to add own addtional checks in user exits to avoid screwing up your production system (most archived data cannot be retrieved into the database). My system takes between 1 and 3 minutes to archive 1 material (or finally fail because of an error)

  • Unable to connect Actiontec M1000

Any suggestions for getting my Linksys WRT160N to work with my Actiontec M1000? I have tried the connections recommended on the setup CD (I have no LAN connection on my Actiontec), and the setup recommended in the Linksys brochure (unplug the existing ethernet cable from the computer and plug it into the yellow port on the Linksys, then plug the supplied blue cable into port 1 on the Linksys and the other end to the computer). I get error 322 - New router or gateway not detected. Qwest tech help says I need to get Linksys to disable DHCP services and change the internal IP to 192.168.0.97. The Linksys help site has instructions for doing that myself, but I am unable to make a connection using 192.168.1.1

I have found some instructions for you to follow, as I do not have any knowledge of you modem, it seems the set up is different than most. See if this will work for you. There has been much controversy about setting up this modem as they want you to set a PPPoA connection which is not supported in your Linksys router so I found 2 solutions for you, hope they will work for you.
The exact steps will vary depending on what type of router you have. With the Qwest Actiontec M1000 DO NOTHING. This will be our router. With the second router login.
D-link is 192.168.0.1 and linksys is 192.168.1.1 . You need to plug the router directly into a PC with out is being hooked to the M1000. If you are unsure what the ip is you need consult your manufacturers website. Log into the router and change the local IP for the Router itself to 192.168.0.151. Now you will have to re-log into the router using this new IP. We now need to change the range of the addresses given out.Change the Starting IP Address: to 192.168.0.155. Go ahead and save changes. Now you will have to disalbe the DHCP server on the the router. You are almost done. Now conect the Qwest Actiontec M1000 router to the back of the Linksys router. DO NOT plug it into the WAN port. We have set the router up as an AP so plug it into any port 1 through 4.
                                                             OR
    1) When looking for info you will find there are two different ways to configure a router behind the M1000. Option one is to set the M100 modem in "Transpoarent Bridging Mode" Option 2 is to use the the DSL modem for ISP login and the gateway to the ISP. With my Linksys WRT54G option 1, "Bridging Mode" WILL NOT WORK, ever. My ISP equires PPPoA protocol and the WRT54G does not support PPPoA and so you can't use this even though you will find postings on the Internet to use "Bridging Mode" This would be for other models of router where PPPoA is supported.
    2) So here are the steps for configuring the ActionTec and the WRT54G that worked for me. First configure the ActionTec as instructed by Qwest. I had to make two "special" settings for my situation. First I had to set the ISP protocol to PPPoA and I also had to set ATM encapsulation to "VC-Mux". Both settings are found under the Advanced Settings tab. The PPPoA setting is for my ISP and the VC-Mux is for Qwest networking needs (I think). Then of course I had to enter the "PPP User Name" and "Password" for my ISP access. After this I could Access my ISP from the Modem. I did this setup by having my desktop computer connected directly to the M1000 via ethernet. To get this to work I had to point my compuer or the computer router address to 192.168.0.99 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) which is the DSL IP address.
    3) Next step is to get the LinkSys WRT54G connected and working with the DSL Modem. Connect your computer to the Linksys Ethernet and then connect the Ethernet from the Linksys to the M1000. At this point I also did a reset on the Linksys to force all settings back to factory default. At this point you'll need to change the router address on your computer to 192.168.1.1 (the address of the Linksys after factory defaults) I assume you already know how to do this. Then login into the Linksys from your computer. Now on the Setup page of the Linksys enter the following under "Internet Settings" -
    a) Select "Static IP"
    b) Enter "Internet IP Address" - 192.168.0.99. This is the IP address that the Linksys Router uses to talk to the M1000 modem. (the outbound IP address) This was the same address that the computer used when setting up the M1000 while directly connected.
    c) Set the "Subnet Mask" - 255.255.255.0
    d) Set the "Gateway Address" - 192.168.0.1 This is the IP address of the DSL modem. So 192.168.0.99 (the Router) will talk to 198.168.0.1 (the M1000) and versus.
    e) Enter the DNS IP address(es).
    4) Make sure the Local IP address is set. The default is 192.168.1.1. This is the address of the router as seen by all the network nodes on the local network (wired or wireless). This is what is used for each of the network nodes to use as the address of the Router. I left this set to the default.
    5) I left all other settings to factory defaults except for the "Time Zone"
Then click on the "Save Settings" button at the bottom of the page. Then bring up another page in your browser and try surfing using some of your memorized bookmarks. You should be in business at this point.
If you still can not get pages to come up there is one of two problems. Either the settings were not set correctly on the Linksys Setup page or you need corrections to settings on your computer. For iunstance in my case I need to have my computer set to a fixed, permananet IP address. So my computer is confirgured manually and when this is done you need to tell the computer where the router is (192.168.1.1) and where the DNS servers are which are usually at your ISP. The ISP will publish these IP numbers and you'll need to enter these numbers whereever a DNS IP address number is needed.
    Hope this will help

  • AuC load

For loading AuC's through AS91, the field capitalized on is a required field. How to make it optional. I have seen in the screen layout, there are fields under Posting Information, "capitalization date" which is opitonal but did not see Capitalized on. THis should be optional field for AuC as the asset is still uner construction.  How to make it optional?
Secondly, when loading AuC through AS91, after clicking on take over values, the tab for "transactions" is greyed out. I think this is the place where we mark it as AuC by transaction type. How to enable it?
In As91 , should the posting date and document date be the same. For eg, if the takeover date is set to June 30, 2009, what date should be there in document and posting date in AS91?

    Sheena,
In Investment Mgmt component of SAP, you have three important things:
    1. The cost object/collector (in your case it is WBS element. It can also be an internal order);
    2. The AUC asset (this is automatically created when the cost object is created with the relevant investment profile. The AUC asset and the cost object are tightly linked to each other.)
    3. The final asset or the Inservice Asset.
During goods receipt of capital item, the cost object is debited i.e. it receives the costs. These costs are periodically settled to the AUC asset. The specific date when the costs are settled from the WBS element to the AUC, is the date of capitalization of the AUC asset. When this happens, appropriate financial entries are passed. However, as stated previously the AUC asset does not depreciate. This business process is meant to show that the Asset is under construction i.e. it is being tested and installed. This is what is implied by capitalization date for an AUC.
The posting date in AS91 should be not after June 30. It can be June 30 or anything prior to it. But I doubt whether you can put the original posting date since that would mean opening numerous periods in FI. However, you need to test this. To me it should be the original date of asset transaction. But please test whether entering the original dates necessitate opening up those periods in FI.
Ahah! There is no straightforward answer to this question. It depends on the state of your data. This is where you normally need consulting help. I mean there are many ifs and buts while considering entering the legacy AUC assets. Try looking up in SAP help if you can find something.
    Hope this answers your questions.

  • CRM_MKTPL and BW

    Hi,
I've implemented most the BADI's surrouding Marketing Planner on CRM and BW.
What I've found if that all the BADIs are run on CRM, then all the BADIs are run on BW.  However BW is calculating a text that I want to send back to CRM.
Is there anyway of doing this?
I can write an RFC from BW to write a text entry to a customer table on CRM and have CRM read that - but the user will still have to make another key stroke before the new text shows.
    Cheers
    David

    Hi Davinder, thanks for reply.
The issue is not solved ??
We ca't pass the extra values as a BW report parameter...can you give me an example of your function module? and where is it called??
we will need to get values back to CRM to BW too....but I want to solve the first part first. I wrote to OSS but they say these requests need consultant.
If you inform me about your function and where used, I will be very happy, thanks

  • Dedicated Upgrade / Migration Tracks at OOW

At Oracle OpenWorld this year (November 11-15, 2007, San Francisco, http://www.oracle.com/openworld/2007/index.html) there is a dedicated JD Edwards program self-contained in the San Francisco Hilton. This allows us to concentrated on JD Edwards specific topics, and gives us all a chance to interact together in a fairly small space.
Included in the JD Edwards program there will be a specific dedicated track for Upgrades with 5 sessions, and a second track for Migrations with 4 sessions. Each of these tracks will include a panel discussion with customers that have completed these projects, and a chance for you to ask them questions such as "how did you justify the project", "what did you learn to do and avoid", "where and when do you need consulting help", and more.
More information about the JD Edwards track itself is available here (http://www.oracle.com/openworld/2007/jd-edwards.html).
    Dan Stern

    Hi Dan,
You are on the right track. However you can perform some of these function "online".
First you want to ensure that you are running at a minimum, Nexus 1000v SV1(4a) as ESXi 5.0 only began support on this release. With SV1(4a), it provides support for both ESXi 5.0 and ESX/i 4.1.
Then you can follow the procedure documented here:
Upgrading from VMware Release 4.0/4.1 to VMware Release 5.0.0
This document walks you through upgrading your ESX infrastructure to VMware Release 5.0.0 when Cisco Nexus 1000V is installed. It is required to be completed in the following order:
    1. Upgrade the VSMs and VEMs to Release 4.2(1)SV1(4a).
    2. Upgrade the VMware vCenter Server to VMware Release 5.0.0.
    3. Upgrade the VMware Update Manager to VMware Release 5.0.0.
    4. Upgrade your ESX hosts to VMware Release 5.0.0 with a custom ESXi image that includes the VEM bits.
Upgrading the ESX/ESXi hosts consists of the following procedures:
    –Upgrading the vCenter Server
    –Upgrading the vCenter Update Manager
    –Augmenting the Customized ISO
    –Upgrading the ESXi Hosts
There is also a 3 part video highlighting the procedure to perfrom the last two steps above (customized ISO and upgrading ESXi hosts)
Video: Upgrading the VEM to VMware ESXi Release 5.0.0
Hope that helps you with your upgrade.
    Thanks,

  • How many pin connector/2nd hard drive recoomendations?

I have a dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac that I got maybe 2-3 years ago, probably closer to the latter.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
There appears to be 2 female ribbon connectors below the top hard drive on the outboard edge closest to the removable side aluminum door panel.
One female pin connectors is longer, the other shorter.
I am trying to figure out whether I need a 7 pin connector hard drive or a 21 pin.....I will be getting a Seagate hard drive.
Anyone have a definitive answer compared to a guess?
Also, what hard drive of this size would be a plug and play sorta thing without having to do all sorts of whizbang stuff.....I hear Western Digitial has some 10,000 rmp drives, but I need a high sustained transfer rate fast drive to handle realtime editing using Final Cut Express. Suggestions?
    Thanks.

Ok, I got the same box as you.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
Ok HiDef really, really, REALLY, takes up drive space. Especially in uncompressed formats. If your doing this on any regular basis your going to have to seriously consider speed and data redundancy with something like Apple's X-RAID and a Fiberchannel PCI card with a RAID 5 setup and a lot of drives.
Obviously your going to have to learn all about RAID. Sure you could slap a 400GB drive in and go, but as that beast fills up it's going to crawl and your going to have problems as the speed drops considerably as the drive fills up.
You could roll your own external RAID O with a SATA PCI card and a SATA drive enclosure as a working disk for speed, but don't get a whole lot of storage. Backup the finished files to the 400GB internal SATA at night with auto-backup software. But I think of you do this regularly your going to eat up that 400GB in no time flat.
Depends how involved you get, how much money you got to spend.
There appears to be 2 female ribbon connectors below the top hard drive on the outboard edge closest to the removable side aluminum door panel.
One female pin connectors is longer, the other shorter.
One is a SATA connection the other is the power supply for the drive.
I am trying to figure out whether I need a 7 pin connector hard drive or a 21 pin.....I will be getting a Seagate hard drive.
All you need to know is SATA or Serial ATA. Plug it in and Mac OS X will take you right to Disk Utility to format it. Do a Erase w/Zero, format HFS+(journaled) The "Zeroing" will rewrite the drives bad sector map and make your writes considerably more reliable, it takes some time, but boy is it worth it! You can't do this later without completely erasing the drive. Video needs a good write source as they are very large files.
Also, what hard drive of this size would be a plug and play sorta thing without having to do all sorts of whizbang stuff.....I hear Western Digital has some 10,000 rmp drives, but I need a high sustained transfer rate fast drive to handle realtime editing using Final Cut Express. Suggestions?
SATA drives are plug n' play. Just what your G5 needs.
However if your doing a lot of video I suggest a Apple Fiberchannel PCI card and a X-RAID. Because you need large storage space, redundancy of data and speed for lots of HD video. This comes at the price of a lot of drives and a very fast interface.
The Raptors are fast, but they don't have a lot of storage space. The largest one at 10K RPM's has only 150GB of space and you need a Firmtek SATA PCI card to hook them up to G5's (excluding the Quad supposedly). So they make great boot drives and small storage drives.
Of course it's possible to get a 8 bay external SATA enclosure, a FirmTex 8 port SATA PCI card and eight 150GB Raptors and have a total of 1200 GB of drive space. Which you could roll 4 drives as a RAID O (striped) for 600GB as a working disk and the other 4 drives as combined into one for 600GB of backup storage.
Of course you can also use other larger drives with 16MB caches in the external enclosure but they run at 7,200 RPM's which would be fast enough if you striped them for a working disk.
Everything depends upon how much GB's of data you intend to be using daily, and if time = money then speed is a big factor, and if a lot of files then storage space and for backup. Plus how much you can spend.
If you need consulting services for a professional installation then your going to need someone to help you make the right decisions.
Apple's X-RAID is pretty easy and they will help you get set up, but it costs considerable amount of money. If you knew a bit more of what you can reasonable expect you would be doing with HD, also if you knew a bit more about the technology, you could do things yourself.
So you can either go through a couple year learning curve, hire somebody, or spend the money for a Apple X-RAID and have them walk you through the installation.
    Here is some resources.

  • Ni 488.2 cannot find gendrad digibridge.. incorrect protocol?

ni 488.2 times out during bus search for old genrad digibridge 1687b..
    protocol incompatible, or hardware problem?

    Hello,
To determine if your device is comatible with 488.2, you will need consult your instrument's documentation.
The correct way to find an instrument is to right-click on your GPIB card in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and select Scan for Instruments. If you are still timing out from here, make sure the instrument is turned on. You might also try using a different instrument to determine if the problem is with your GPIB Card.
Let me know if this does not work.
