Need for sugestion about DAQ Card for load cell

Hi.
I have a AT-MIO-16XE-50 DAQ card. But, I guess it doesn't work with load cell since it dosen't have output. So I need your regomendation about what DAQ card I should use. Also, if I need to use strain gage conditioner, recomende to me.
Thanks
Jee

I couldn't find any information about a DAQ 512, but I did find info about a DAQCard-512 and DAQCard-500. If you meant one of these boards, then you will need NI-DAQ 6.9.3. That is the latest version of NI-DAQ to support these boards. Post again if you need additional assistance.

Do a search for the correct name and you should come up with a lot of references. It is the AT-MIO-16E-10. Note that it is not an M'ten' but an MI(as in input)O(as in output).

  • Custom scale for load cell

    Hi
I am using a load cell to monitor an impact force. The load cell has a fixture attached to it which results in a non zero output. I am using a custom scale to convert the output from the load cell in volts to force to Newtons.
I am creating a custom scale and applying it to the task. I then want to be able to programmitically tare (zero) the load cell output before testing. However, my code does not work. There are no errors, but the gradient and intercept controls within the while loop do not function. Can anyone tell me why? I am aware that this could be done mathematically but I do not understand why the property node method does not work.
I am using labview 2010 with the latest version of daqmx (9.17 I think). My hardware is the USB-6211 card.
    Many thanks.

    Hi John,
Thank you for a good description of the problem you are facing, as I understand it you have set up a custom scale but it doesn't seem to be functioning as you expected.
I have looked into this for you and have found a few examples which may help with the development of your application, I have also linked some articles for you.
The custom scale will need to be created entirely before the task is created, so any modifications can only be done before acquisition begins.
I hope this information is useful, and if you have any further queries please go ahead and post them and I will look into it for you.

  • Connection for load cell to NI9237

    Hi,
I have this omega load cell part LCKD-10 which is a half bridge load cell that I need to connect to the NI9237. Please advice on the connection.
    Thanks
    Joelle

Thanks. I need to write out a program which checks the centrality of force. I will be using 5nos of the omega load cell, 1 in the centre(Isolated) and the other 4 at all 4 corners. I'm suppose to firstly calibrate the load cell and then take measurement of the force applied to the 5 load cell and display the result in a form of a radar graph (Just a dot in the centre of the graph to show the centrality of the force). Appreciate if you can provide some procedures or program that I can use or try out.

  • ........ Expert  suggestion needed for Loading Data in DB

    Hi all
The current requirement we have is to Load data from Excel File to oracle Databases.
The Excel file has around 30 Sheets , each corresponds to a table, ( means 30 tables in the database) .
Currently we are using sqlldr commands to load data from CSV files to the Oracle Database. The only problem is that sometime the DBA has to go out or is busy workign on somthing else, so May i kindy get some expert suggestions on how to automate this DataLoading Task.
Somebody has suggested to My Manager ( who is not aware of oracle and IT at all) that data can be loaded via ODBC. It is suggested to him that all we need to do is to place the CSV files on the Server at a particular folder and Oracle will do the rest.
I am not that proficient in Data loading methods.. so may i know any technique which will simplify/automate the Task.
I mean how can we automate so that every time , the the sql loader scripts run at command promt. I think data base ( Oracle ) as nothing to do with command promt i feel. isnt it ..
    Kindly have ur expert./experienced suggestions.
I would be highly grateful to all
    Regards

To automate sqlldr scripts, you would usually write a OS script file that will periodically looks for files in a given directory and run the sqlldr commands:
    - on Windows: .bat or .wsh files to be scheduled with "at" command or windows scheduled tasks tool
    - on Unix: a script shell in the crontab.
Much more complicate but without any OS script:
    - write a PL/SQL code to read, parse the file to be loaded using UTL_FILE
    package
    - this PL/SQL code must also generate INSERT statements and process errors ...
    - this PL/SQL code can be scheduled with DBMS_JOB package to run a periodic intervals.

  • CF8/JRun4 Cluster for Load Balancing

Does anyone have an example of how to set up a CF8/JRun4
    cluster for load balancing?
    I have three servers:
    x004 - Linux - Apache2 (10.0.0.54,10.1.0.54)
    x020 - Linux - JRun4/CF8 (10.0.0.70,10.1.0.70)
    x021 - Linux - JRun4/CF8 (10.0.0.71,10.1.0.71)
Every server in our network has two network cards. One
network card is attached to 10.0.x.x which has a gateway to the
internet and runs at 100Mbps and is firewalled, and the other is
attached to 10.1.x.x which runs at 1Gbps and is internal with no
gateway. I'm trying to set it up so web traffic arrives on
10.0.0.54 into Apache and mod_jrun20 bootstraps a cluster named
STST using 10.1.0.54 which consists of STST_x020 coldfusion server
running on x020 and STST_x021 running on x021. I want the
communications between JRun4 on x020 and x021 to occur on the
10.1.x.x network and eventhough JRun and ColdFusion will only use
the 10.1.x.x network I still need the 10.0.x.x network card
attached for other purposes which require a gateway. I have
installed JRun4/CF8 about 10 times already and it seems I have no
control over what network JRun4 clusters on... sometimes it will
communicate on one, sometimes the other and without being able to
set which network is being used there always seems to be "network
error" on at least one of the two CF8 servers. I was able to get
everything working fine by disabling the network cards on the
10.0.x.x network and re-installing everything... but as soon as I
added the network cards back the whole thing was broken again.
How is this supposed to work? Most of the examples are either
no clustering or clustering on the same machine with Apache running
on the same box... I don't see any clustering across machines
    examples.
How do I install a connector on a web server which doesn't
have JRun on it and get wsconfig to connect to a multi-machine
cluster when wsconfig only accepts a single IP address as a host
and the cluster is not listed?
How do I get JRun to bind to a specific network card?
Does this work if I choose a J2EE server other than JRun?
Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. I'm
getting close to giving up which means staying on the non-clustered
environment and figuring out how we can deal with scalability by
    switching to something else.

    The article at
    http://www.adobe.com/go/1e8e9170
is specific to configuring two or more cluster nodes that reside on
separate networks, e.g. 10.0.1.0/24 and 10.0.2.0/24. (The article
doesn't state it, but you can only use unicast peers if your
cluster nodes host a single instance of JRun or multiple instances
of JRun in the same cluster domain. When performing unicast
discovery, JRun looks for all Jini groups and not just the cluster
    group.)
Anyhow, that's not your problem. The simplest solution is you
    haven't enabled the jrun.servlet.jrpp.JRunProxyService service. I'm
most familiar with the Windows version of JRun, but I'm assuming
the directory structure is similar across platforms. In
    <jrun_root>/servers/<name>/SERVER-INF/jrun.xml, set the
    deactivated attribute of the jrun.servlet.jrpp.JRunProxyService
service to false and restart JRun. You should now see JRun
listening on the appropriate port. (The default for the first
manually created instance is 51000.) You can limit the proxy
service to a single interface using the interface attribute.
If you have enabled the proxy service, verify your security
    settings in <jrun_root>/lib/security.properties. It's usually
best to limit access to specific hosts. Comment out the
jrun.subnet.restriction parameter and set the jrun.trusted.hosts to
the IP address of your web server, e.g. 10.1.0.54.
Forcing all JRun processes/services to listen on a single
interface isn't difficult, but it does require modifying quite a
few configuration files by hand. If you need assistance with that,
    I can elaborate.
Configuring the JRun module under Apache is pretty
straightforward. If you're not using virtual hosts, it's very
simple. If you are using virtual hosts, it's still simple, but your
JRun configuration can be virtual host-specific.
On your Apache server, you'll want to create a directory
structure for the JRun module. I'll assume
/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1, but you can use anything you want. Once
the directory structure is created, extract the appropriate JRun
module from wsconfig.jar to the new directory. You're most likely
interested in the Apache 2.0 module,
    wsconfig.jar/connectors/apache/intel-linux/prebuilt/mod_jrun20.so.
Let's assume you've extracted the module to
    /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so. Your Apache service account
should have read, write, and execute permissions on the
    /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1 directory.
The JRun module configuration is normally appended to your
current httpd.conf file by wsconfig. Here's a sample configuration:
    LoadModule jrun_module
    "/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so"
    <IfModule mod_jrun20.c>
    JRunConfig Verbose false
    JRunConfig Apialloc false
    JRunConfig Ssl false
    JRunConfig Ignoresuffixmap false
    JRunConfig Serverstore
    "/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/jrunserver.store"
    JRunConfig Bootstrap 10.1.0.70:51000
#JRunConfig Errorurl <optionally redirect to this URL on
    errors>
    #JRunConfig ProxyRetryInterval 600
    #JRunConfig ConnectTimeout 30
    #JRunConfig RecvTimeout 30
    #JRunConfig SendTimeout 30
AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws .cfm .cfml .cfc .cfr
    .cfswf
    </IfModule>
You may also want to update your DirectoryIndex directive
with an appropriate index page, e.g. index.cfm.
After the first request to a page handled by the JRun module
is received, the module will query the boostrap server,
10.1.0.70:51000, for a list of cluster peers. If you've configured
your cluster correctly, a line similar to following will be written
    to /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/jrunserver.store:
    proxyservers=10.1.0.70:51000;10.1.0.71:51000
You can create/edit this file manually as well.
Unfortunately, the bootstrap option only accepts one server. If
your bootstrap server is down, the JRun module will use the values
in jrunserver.store directly, if the file exists.
Here's a complete list of JRun module options:
    metrics *
    debugger *
    ssl *
    verbose
    traceflags
    serverstore
    bootstrap
    errorurl
    apialloc
    ignoresuffixmap
    proxyretryinterval
    connecttimeout
    recvtimeout
    sendtimeout
    sslcalist
Options flagged with an asterisk can only be configured at
the Apache server level. All other options can be configured at the
server level and/or the virtual host level. The usage of these
options is in the JRun documentation, and the JRun module source
code is included in wsconfig.jar. Keep in mind that versions of the
JRun module shipped prior to ColdFusion 8 were coded to assign the
connecttimeout and sendtimeout options to the socket connection
timeout. Whichever option appeared last in your configuration ended
up as the final value. This has been fixed in ColdFusion 8 and
presumably the next release of the JRun updater.
I think that's a good start. If you need more information or
can't find what you need in the JRun or ColdFusion documentation,
    let me know.
If you're looking for resiliency, I highly recommend
expanding your configuration to include a second web server and a
hardware load-balancer (preferably one that supports redudancy via
multiple paths and devices, e.g. devices from Cisco, F5, or Foundry
Networks). Often, however, running Apache on the ColdFusion
server(s) provides adequate performance, and round-robin DNS
records coupled with the ability to update DNS quickly in the event
of a failure may be all you need for load-balancing and
    failover.

  • How to initialise DAQ cards prior to AI_Vread?

I have a problem when i use the AI_Vread function. It appears to me that the i need to initialise my daq card before it can start to pick up the readings from my voltage source. Please advise me!!!

    Hello;
You can refer to one of the shipping NI-DAQ examples code. For your case, I believe you can look at the one named "AIOnePoint.c"; which can be found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\VisualC\AI.
    Hope this helps.

  • "connecting a load cell to scb-100"

I have an scb-100 and want to know if it is possible to connect a load cell to it and if so, how.

It is probably possible, but you have to have some additional circuitry in order to use the load cell. Typically, load cells are comprised of strain gauges which require some kind of Wheatstone bridge completion. Additionally, most strain gauges need excitation. If you can provide the bridge completion and excitation, then you could simply read the output of the strain gauge by connecting the output + and - to your SCB-100. However, setting up this external circuitry can be a little complicated. So, the recommended setup is to use some signal conditioning. National Instruments provides a couple of options regarding signal conditioning for load cells. Below is a link to a tutorial that discusses how to measure a load cell and what hardware is recommended for
that. I hope this information helps.

  • Need an enable/disable Labview VI for SC-2062 relay board using PCI-6503 DAQ Card.

I am using Labview 6i, and I need to write an enable/disable VI that will enable and disable 6 of the 8 relays at any time while keeping the whole vi running. Therefore one or more positions may be changed at a time, but positions that don't change cannot be interrupted when changing others (no port resets allowed). I was wanting to maybe send a 1 by 6 array of some sort out but I can't figure out how to use the array to communicate with the DAQ card, relay board and SC-2051 adaptor. There also needs to be error handling in and out. Thanks for your help. Any examples would be very helpful.

    Hello;
The best way to go about that is to disable the data points correspondent to the channels you want to disable. Meaning that you can ignore the datapoints of the channels you want to disable on the fly. That is the only way to disable channels on the fly.

  • How to structure the DMA buffer for PXie 6341 DAQ card for analog output with different frequencies on each channel

I'm using the MHDDK for analog out/in with the PXIe 6341 DAQ card.
The examples, e.g. aoex5, show a single Timer  (outTimerHelper::loadUI method), but the example shows DMA data loaded with the same vector size.
There is a comment in the outTimerHelper:rogramUpdateCount call which implies that different buffer sizes per channel can be used.
(the comment is: Switching between different buffer sizes will not be used)
Does anyone know what the format of the DMA buffer should be for data for multiple channels with different frequencies ?
For example, say we want a0 with a 1Khz Sine wave and a1 with a 1.5Khz sine wave.  What does the DMA buffer look like ?
With the same frequency for each channel, the data is interleaved, e.g.  (ao0#0, ao1#0; ao0#1, ao1#1, ...), but when the frequencies for each channel is different, what does the buffer look like ?

    Hello Kenstern,
The data is always interleaved because each card only has a single timing engine for each subsystem.
For AO you must specify the number of samples that AO will output. You also specify the number of channels. Because there is only one timing engine for AO, each AO will channel will get updated at the same time tick of the update clock. The data will be arranged interleaved exactly as the example shows because each AO channel needs data to output at each tick of the update clock. The data itself can change based on the frequency you want to output.
    kenstern wrote:

In your example, you need to come up with an update rate that works for both waveforms (1 KHz and 1.5 KHz sine waves). To get a good representation of a sine wave, you need to update more than 10x as fast as your fastest frequency...I would recommend 100x if possible.
    Update Frequency: 150 KHz
    Channels: 2
Then you create buffers that include full cycles of each waveform you want to output based on the update frequency. These buffers must also be the same size.
Buffer 1: Contains data for the 1 KHz sine wave, 300 points, 2 sine wave cycles
Buffer 2: Contains data for the 1.5 KHz sine wave, 300 points, 3 sine wave cycles
You then interleave them as before. When the data is run through the ADC, they are outputting different sine waves even though the AO channels are updating at the same rate.

  • Multi usb daq cards for stain gauge calib

    Hi guys,
I am new to labview and tring to build a daq system use multiple usb cards. My application is to calibrate an array of 36 strain gauges. I know there are cards that have 40 analog inputs (I use single input from amplifier) but budget is tight, boss want to use cheap multiple cards. I already have a ni6009 and need 4 more ni5008 to get a total of 40 inputs (resolution is not a problem). The guy told me that the problem with many of these usb cards is that they can't synchronize. But I think my application need not to synchronize these cards. I only want to read all the ports at "approximately same" time, so  software timing will do. Is it correct? Will a use one vi to read all these cards?
Another thing is that my computer only have 4 usb ports. Can I use a usb hub or should I use an adaptor?
Is there any other solution? Any suggestion will be welcomed.

    Hi Xiao,
“Synchronization” can mean anything from devices on either side of the world operating on a clock disciplined to GPS, to starting to devices at about (ie: a few milliseconds difference) the same time. The USB 6008 can accept a digital trigger, so you could make it so that all the USB 6008’s start on the same trigger. The lack of synchronizing ability of this device that “the guy” mentioned most likely has to do with this device’s inability to share a clock. Although each device will start at the same time each devices clock with me slightly off from one another and with time this error will accumulate and could become significant. If that doesn’t sound like a problem and starting all the devices at about the same time is fine then your approach seems reasonable.
You absolutely can use one VI to read each of these cards, you would have to create a different task for each but they can all be in one VI.
In answer to your last question, if you do use a hub, a powered USB would be better, however, I would recommend a true PCI or PCIe USB card in lieu of a hub. USB hub quality varies greatly between manufacturers, and unfortunately I don’t have recommendation of a USB hub use.
