Need help Loading parsed RSS text

Hi, I have created an AS3 FLA where I am parsing and
displaying RSS text. I have traced the parsed text and displayed
the text into dynamic text boxes on the stage no problem.
However the line breaks in the traced text show up on stage
as well.
How does one strip out the <p> or </r> tags from
the text to make the text one nice long line that will wrap using
the length of the text box as it's parameters?

OK, I have found the answer, thanks all.
var myvar:String = myDynamicText.text;
myDynamicText.text = myvar.split("\r").join(" ");
myDynamicText.text = myDynamicText.text.split("\n").join("

    Don't flag your question as urgent, even if it is for you.
    * We all answer questions here voluntarily, in our leisure time. We do that because doing so is fun for us, because we enjoy helping people and having interesting discussions. Guess what, it is much less fun if it gets stressful. So the last thing you want to do to get us to answer your question is to pass your stress over to us.
    * People who are stressed and want a fast answer often don't even find the time to do the necessary research or to formulate their question in an easy to comprehend way. That's even less fun to work with. So you really don't want us to feel your stress. Instead you want to take your time to write a well formulated post that is fun to answer. The less likely it is for us to know that your question is urgent, the more likely you are to get a fast answer!
    * The simple notion that you want your post to be answered faster than those of the other members might feel rather unfair to some of us. Doubly so because often "urgent" questions actually are homework questions. Yours might be different, but someone who had bad experiences with this type of question might not read far enough to notice.

  • Need help generating an rss feed via jsp

    this is ridiculous, but i cannot get my jsp to generate rss feed code. i am querying my database for stories, then displaying the various fields within the rss xml codes. the page either refuses to load altogether or displays the content as one run-on sentence (i.e., without the xml codes). i'd prefer most of all to have a nice xml-look-and-feel display to show up in my browser, but i can live without it as long as someone hitting the url of my page can get the rss feed to parse. however, the page generally just refuses to load anything.
    if anyone has any input or suggestions, i'd greatly appreciate it. i've done countless searches here and web-wide with no results. i get lots of help on parsing (which is a cakewalk as far as i'm concerned compared to this stupid stupid display problem).

    I will presume you are generating valid xml. What happens if you view source, save it as an xml file, and then try and open it? Is it valid?
    Try this at the top of your page.
    <%@ page contentType="text/xml" %>
    That may help the browser understand that you are sending it xml.
    I dunno - I had mixed results with my little experiment here - IE didn't even try to load it sometimes.

  • Need help in parsing a VARCHAR2(4000 BYTES) field

    Hi Guys,
    Let me give the DB information first:
    SQL> select * from v$version;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
    TNS for Solaris: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    My problem is: The frontend of the application sends a large string into the VARCHAR2 (4000 BYTES) field. The string it sends is somewhat like this -
    <strong>Crit:</strong> Some text. <br><strong>Distinguished</strong> (points 3):Some comment text1. <blockquote> </blockquote><strong>Crit:</strong> Some other text.<br><strong>Distinguished</strong> (points 3):Some comment text2. <blockquote> </blockquote><strong>Crit:</strong> Some more text. <br><strong>Distinguished</strong> (points 3):Some comment text3. <blockquote> </blockquote><strong>Overall comments:</strong><br> Final text!!I want to parse the text and put into separate columns. Number of Crit: can be more than 3; its 3 up there. But the basic structure is same. What is the best possible way of parsing this in PL/SQL code? I want something like
    Table 1
    Crit                       Points           Comment
    Some text                3        Some comment text1.
    Some other text        3        Some comment text2.
    Some more text        3        Some comment text3.
    Table 2
    Overall comments
    Final text!!Please let me know, if you need further information.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
    Looks like noformat tags are not working.Please use the {noformat}{noformat} tag if you want to post formatted examples/code.
    For example, when you type:
    {noformat}select *
    from dual;
    {noformat}
    it will appear as:select *
    from dual;
    when you post it on this forum...

  • Need help loading DLL in labVIEW project

    I have a DLL that was written in C# that I want to load it to my labVIEW project. I have never done this before, so I need help. I chose Connectivity-Call Library Function Node then loaded my DLL. After, under function name, I typed in the function name from the code. I don't know what to do with other like Parameters.
    They don't let me attach dll file
    Can someone explain how to set the parameters and etc?

    Well, it seems that you really need to learn quite a bit about .NET (ActiveX is very similar!) first.
    The constructor node in your code creates an object in your .NET CLR (Common Language Runtime). This object exposes properties and/or methods. Use Property Node(s) and Invoke Node(s) to access these. Usually, you get references to other objects which you can work this.
    Remember the golden rule for ActiveX and .NET:
    Close all references you created in your LabVIEW code on your own (using Close Reference)!

  • I need help loading a swf file in a flash website

    Hi,
    I am an interactive design student working on a flash portfiolio and need help. I can't figure out how to load a game I made in flash into my porfolio so that it loads after clicking on a button, becomes playable, then have a button to leave the game and go back to my portfolio. I'm working in Actionscript 2.0 because that's all my teachers will show me and I have minimal actionscript knowledge.
    Thanks,

    I thought I got it to work with loadMovie, but it only plays the intro, and then either repeats or exits as soon as the first bit of actionscript starts

    I simply want to call a swf into an existing fla. I have
    tried everything. When dragging the timeline, you see the swf. When
    you preview, it is not there. Background - I have an exisiting fla
    that contains the image background for all. I want to set a
    transparent carousel menu on top of the background that is in the

    The carousel.swf will need to call java and an xml file on the web
    server.....all external to the "summed" final. If I could layer
    flashed in DW, then the problem would also be solved. Please be
    detailed, I am obviously not a developer.

    although I'm not certain why you would not just 'place' the
    background 'image' on the stage in the fla (probably because you
    wish to change it dynamically down the road) - you need to 'load'
    the swf, not 'place' it within the other file. you do this with the
    MovieClipLoader class.
    with the swf that you wish to load in the same directory as
    the swf of the carousel file, place something like the following in
    the first frame, on a layer called actions, in the actions panel:

  • Need help loading data from Excel data file to oracle tables

    i need to load an Excel spreadsheet to Oracle table.
    The spreadsheet contains 20 columns, the first 8 columns contains basic info, but the rest 12 columns contains info like
    1stQtr_08, 2ndQtr_08, 3rdQtr_08, 4thQtr_08
    1stQtr_09, 2ndQtr_09, 3rdQtr_09, 4thQtr_09
    1stQtr_10, 2ndQtr_10, 3rdQtr_10, 4thQtr_10
    So what i need to accomplish is:
    break that one record(with 20 fields) in Excel to 3 records for each fiscal year in the Oracle table, so each record in the database table will look like
    8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_08, 2ndQtr_08, 3rdQtr_08, 4thQtr_08
    8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_09, 2ndQtr_09, 3rdQtr_09, 4thQtr_09
    8 basic field + fiscal_year + 1stQtr_10, 2ndQtr_10, 3rdQtr_10, 4thQtr_10
    There are about 10000 rows in the data file, so how can i use sqlldr to perform such task? beside sqlldr, any other good suggestions?
    thx

    External Tables is just an Oracle API for sqlloader. If you going to load this data over and over again, External tables would be a good idea, but if it's a one time thing, sqlldir is simpler, unless you just want to learn how to use External Tables.
    I used to run a data warehouse, so I have done, at least similar, to what you are doing in the past.

  • Need Help Loading RSS pics

    I have an RSS feed parsed and displaying text into 5 Dynamic

    loader.load(new
    URLRequest(xml.channel.item.enclosure[0].@url);
    However the pictures are coming in at the centre of the
    MovieClip and too large. I need them scaled to 50 px x 50 px to fit
    the movieclip and to either centre or import at x=0 and y=0. I
    tried this code from another project, but nothing happened. I

  • Need Help with parsing text

    Hello all, I hope this is an easy question....
    I have a string similar to
    <li><span class="RandomInformation">the latest news on my site</span></li>
    I am currently geting a string where each new line is a new <li> from a pure http call. what I need to do is split this down into an array of strings (Yes this is my website, and no im not trying to rebrand other's work...:) ) delimeted on :
    - each line needs to be a separate element within a multidimensional array
    - Can't split on CrLf because further up and further down I have other entries I dont care about, so I need to use the <li></li> as indicators that they contain the information I want.
    - out of each line, I need to separate them into multiple 'columns' within the array
    - one for the contents of the span clas (in this case "RandomInformation"
    - one element for the contents of the link (in this case my url, http://www.w2gas.com, but will be sub pages later like http://www.w2gas.com/page2.html)
    - most importantly one element for the text between anchor tags (this case it is "the latest news on my site")
    I tried a Regex for stripping the HTML tags out, however all I was left with was the text between anchors. I know I could do it based on character by character looping (have done that) but its terrible slow. I know there must be a way to accomplish this, however Im just too new to figure it out. (maybe?)
    Thanks in advance

  • Need help with reading RSS feed from SSIS

    Hi all,
    I am trying to read RSS feed from SSIS by using the Script Component. So far I am able to read some information from the RSS feed from the following items included in the code, Title, PublishDate, LastUpdateTime, Id and Summary.
    There are still more item but I am unable to identify the proper data type for the following:
    //Output0Buffer.Description = item.Content;
    //Output0Buffer.Category = item.Categories;
    //Output0Buffer.Comments = item.Summary;
    //Output0Buffer.Source = item.SourceFeed;
    When I define the data for item.Content as Unicode String in the column properties for the Output column I get the following error message:
    Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.ServiceModel.Syndication.SyndicationContent' to 'string'
    And the same error for the other three variables.
    I am using HTTP Connection manager to read the xml link.
    I tried to google around for some help but I could not find more information about the datatype.
