Need information on Business Object XI R3 with Dashboard Design (Xcelsius)

Hi,
we are planning to install Business Object XI R3 with Dashboard Design (Xcelsius). In order to do this SAP has advised that we require Netweaver 7.0 Enhancement Pack1, Support Pack5.
Could you please let us know if it would take to upgrade and also any dependencies (do we also need to upgrade ECC, BI, SRM or Portal). we did not install EHP for any of the components in our landscape except solution manager (EHP1 SPS22).
Please help in providing the information.

But my query is do we need to upgrade any of the SAP components (ECC, SRM, Portal, MDM or SOLMAN) which are present in our landscape. no SAP components is of relase EHP except SOLMAN system.

The download itself is free and is valid for 30 days only. After that, the software ceases to work.
CS4 is pretty old, no longer sold and no longer supported by Adobe. It's also not compatible with many modern OSes.
Why do you have to work with such an obsolete version of Photoshop?
What kind of "designer" uses it?

I am a dotnet developer (asp.net with C#). I am sorry I dont know much about Business objects. Our client a financial firm wants to use Business object with a web based application. I couldn't got a clear and good understanding of Business object. The client just said Business objects allows dynamically creating reports even clients can create reports very easily even without knowing SQL.
Kindly guide me about Business Object product and its what component I should check for using it. Please mention some links that can give me introduction.

Business Objects is not just one tool. You should ask your client what they will use e.g. Crystal Reports or Web Intelligence.

SAP Business Objects Access control with BI4.1 and enterprise authetication

We are on BI 4.1 with enterprise authentication. We are using IDM (oracle waveset 8) for access management. Currently we receive request from IDM and we manually configure user in BI4.1. We are now planning to automate this process, like as soon as user request place request through IDM , his access wil lget configure in BI 4.1
can we achieve this using SAP Business Objects Access controle or with any other method ? Need your guidance

1. you configure the BOE Server with the SAP authentication for your SAP server
1b you configure trust between the portal server and the SAP system
2. you import the portal iView template as part of the SAP Kit into the portal server
3. you create a new system (or use an existing one) in the portal system landscape and configure the properties of the Crystal Enterprise properties
4. you create a new iView based on the portal iView template

The lock mode controls whether several users can access data records at the same time. The
lock mode can be assigned separately for each table in the lock object. When the lock is set, the
corresponding lock entry is stored in the lock table of the system for each table.
Access by more than one user can be synchronized in the following ways:
 Exclusive lock: The locked data can only be displayed or edited by a single user. A
request for another exclusive lock or for a shared lock is rejected.
Shared lock: More than one user can access the locked data at the same time in display
mode. A request for another shared lock is accepted, even if it comes from another user.
An exclusive lock is rejected.
Exclusive but not cumulative: Exclusive locks can be requested several times from the
same transaction and are processed successively. In contrast, exclusive but not
cumulative locks can be called only once from the same transaction. All other lock
requests are rejected.

Business Objects Platform 4.1 EDGE - Design Studio 1.5

i have a question about the use of Business Objects EDGE 4.1 in combination with the Design Studio ADD-ON.
We want deploy the Design-Studio add-on 1.5 (Ramp-up) into our Business Objects EDGE 4.1 platform.
Is this technical possible? Are there any restrictions from SAP?

Need informations about EWM(Value Added Services) with ECC5.0

Hello to everyone.
In an actual project we will realize the build-to-order-process !
I have seen, that in the SAP-EWM, there are some useful services (Service Added Values).
But my problem is, that I don't know with which ERP-Releases the EWM works !?
We use ECC5.0 as our actual ERP-System - is that release ok for EWM ?

ECC 5.0 should be ok (it runs as of 4.7), but you will need Service pack 6.

Business Objects Reports compatibility with firefox

Hi,
Some BO web intelligence reports which were having issues on our live environment. I have noticed that the reports are having no problems with the fonts and numeric display in BO Infoview while using IE browser.
The problem is noticed in BO Infoview while using Mozilla firefox browser. This does not look to be a font specific issue.
This looks to be more with BO reports compatibility with firefox.
Can any one please let me know the plugin / Patch need to be installed which will correct compatibility issue with IE and Mozilla

Your only approach is to :
a) use a product that is currently supported by the vendor & who's codeline is still actively maintained
and
b) use a mix of software components that are validated for compatiblity and supported by our product development.

Hi, can one help me in this object.
On a monthly basis, after all data has been fed into One Source and the monthly One Source calculations have been performed, an extract will be run from One Source , converted via XI and loaded to BW. The current plants that will be extracted from One Source are: 6101, 6102, 6103, 6201, 6202, 6203, 6301, 6302, 6601, and 6602. As additional plants get converted to SAP; they will automatically start appearing on this extract. The One Source extract file will be pulled from a corporate server for processing. (One source is the Data Warehouse)

Business Objects Crystal Reports with Clarity - anyone on here use is?

we are in the process of upgrading our Clarity system to version 8.1.1 - which has gone away from Actuate to support Crystal Reports instead.
Is anyone here using Crystal Reports with Actuate already?
I was looking into upgrading from CR XI to CR 2008 - but wondered if the extra functionality is worth the upgrade cost.
They say that users can interact with the data by sorting/filtering and re-formatting without re-querying the database - and there is a parameter panel that allows new parameters to be added to the 'saved' data..
i was wondering if those features are available when it is used with Clarity..

Business Object Security Issue - With the Modify Option

Hi all;
My issue is Im trying to restrict all access on Info View that are related to the Modify option for a Read Only user. When I test the user I right click and the Modify option still there.

Basically the solution was on the Application tab... I verify the privs related to the group and I change a few things. Plus still have the Modify option when I right click. Something helpful was that I can still change the column width or the color of the text or bold the text etc, but I can not change the data, which is good. Also when you right click and select view on the report your are not able to change the width of the columns. But it work ok...

Business Objects XI 3.0 : Dashboard (evaluating different options)

Presently we are evaluating different options to create dashboard which is visually appealing and have following features.
1.     Suppose if we have following objects
Dimensions : Product, Customer
Measure : Sales Revenue , Rental Revenue
So Dash board Should Have a options to choose any dimension against any Measure i.e. a combo box or a radio button list which will allow user to see
u201CSales revenueu201D against u201CProductu201D or u201CCustomeru201D based on his inputs.
2.     Filters
We need to provide some filter to user like Year, Month etc.
3.     Drill Down.
User should be able to drill down if there is natural hierarchies. For example Year-> Month -> Day etc.
4.     It needs to be visually appealing.
So we are thinking of evaluating following BO products
1.     SAP BO Polestar
2.     SAP BO Xcelsius Engage
3.     SAP BO Dashboard
We would appreciate if anyone of you can comment on requirements and what is possible and what is not in particular tool. (We have Universe in place).

You can use Xcelsius Engage for visualization of your data.
Since you already have Universe inplace,you can build your query using QAAWS(Query as a Web Service) tool. This is a client tool from businees objects where you can build your query the same way as you build it in Webi based on Universe.
This will generate a wsdl which can be used in Xcelsius to get the data with live connection.
Xcelsius is based on Flash so you would have strong visualization for your data.There are numerous component and features where you can use filters and selections as per your requirements and make a good presentation.
