Need key commands list - complete

can someone do me a favor and email me the clipboard output of the comprehensive key command list? i'm not in a position to do this myself right at the moment. if someone chimes up, i'll reply with the email address to send it to. no formating or anything is necessary.
also, for those that use key commands a lot and have some complex customization, what is your opinion on its reliability? my questioning is due to the possible utilization of a remote session of logic, receiving custom MIDI sysex commands to basically remote control functionality via MIDI. (i will be sending commands via TCP, but there will be a local server sending MIDI to the host machine) do key commands ever not execute? if you send a rapid sequence of key commands, do they execute in a predictable fashion? etc...

Why do you need to use Sysex commands? They're so much more complicated to program and keep track of...
In terms of reliability, sometimes I find that key commands "go bad". This is almost always a case of "key label" commands going bad and to fix the problem they need to be re-programmed as "key position". That's the only buggy behavior re key commands, aside from the bugs in the key command window itself. But that's another story. Here's the list:

  • Are the default key commands completely different in L9 compared to L8?

    Hi Guys,
I have had to reset my key commands to the defaults, and seem to have lost all my old key commands.
My commands with Logic 8 were the absolute default ones (I didn't change any of them!!) - here are some of the ones I used a lot:
Pressing 0 on the numeric keyboard was always stop. "/" on the numeric keyboard was always cycle on/cycle off.
Pressing control and using the up/down/left/ right arrows (the ones in between the QWERTY keyboard and the number pad) always zoomed in and out, vertically and horizontally respectively...
Pressing the "C" key was always click on/click off. Now it's cycle on/off.
My question is... can someone confirm that the Logic 9 default key commands are completely different, and that these shortcuts above have all gone?
I know I can set them up again, I guess I'm just puzzled that so many of the main commands would completely change their defaults for L9!
    Cheers and thanks,

Some of the more in-depth key commands have changed slightly , but the standard ones are still the same.
Most of these you've described are ( or should be still ) exactly the same.
Make sure that you are still using the standard keyboard layout and language in *'Apple/system preferences/international/input menu'*
Mine swiched to German a few months ago and I had no idea what was going on.

  • Sync logic key commands?

    hi.
anyone know if its possible to sync logic key commands with more than one mac?
the sharing prefs in logic dont work and i dont use mobileme anymore.
    thanks.

    Hi
Yes they do, but they can be a bit fiddly to get right.
    Step 1
All Macs on the same Local Network?
    Step 2
    Preferences:Sharing
On the 'Primary' Mac tick the "Key Commands" box in the Bonjour section. You might want to do this for all Macs on the network?
On the "Slave" Macs, tick the box to look for Shared Data on the LAN (might want to do this for all Macs on the LAN?)
    Step 3
On the 'Primary Mac', save the current Key Commands using the Options:Export function in the Key Commands window.
    Step 4
Depending on your firewall preferences, you may need to restart Logic on the slave Macs (and you may get an alert about in-coming network/firewall messages... Accept).
    Step 5
On the Slave Mac, open the key commands window; Options:Presets.... under Bonjour, you should see your "Primary' key commands listed.
Alternatively, Save (Export) the KC's from one Mac, copy the file to the others, then open them using KC Window:Options:Presets.
The KC files are saved in
    <User>:Library:Application Support:Logic:Key Commands

  • Key commands for part box missing in Logic Pro X

The manual mentions several key commands for selecting objects in the part box, that would make this a very efficient step time input program, but they don't exist in the key command list.
Can anyone help? All I want to do is select note or pause values with one hand while inputting pitc from a midi controller keyboard.

Thanks for this reply. You are correct I am actually running 10.9 and fully up to date on software updates for August 2014. My bad, thought I had taken the most recent option from the drop down menu.
I have been able to fix the issue but going into Library/ApplicationSupport/Logic and removing the 'drummer' folder. I also went into the plugins folder and removed 'drum presets'. I put all removed files onto a new folder on my desktop.
When I tried to open a drummer track Logic detected that the files were missing and prompted me to download the missing 'drummer files' once the download was complete, drummer operated correctly with all drummers available again.
I went back into the file system again and moved some of the drum presets that I had initially moved out (I  had originally acquired these when I first installed Logic and did a lengthy additional content download) that had not re-downloaded back into 'drum presets'. All drumkits were now available too.
If the issue occurs again I'll take a look at Spotlight file reindexing - would be worth a try and probably quicker. It would make sense that the underlying issue here is one around the drummer sampler code having issues around indexing the sample data.

  • Strange Key Commands Issue - Please Help

I understand how to make/delete and export key commands.
I made a key command preference that I like that doesn't involve the screen set key commands ... herein lies the issue.
I delete the commands (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) that are assigned to screen sets because I want to use them for other things. I save the preset. If I keep logic open everything is hunky dory, but if I close logic and re-open it the screen set key commands are suddenly part of my preset again.
    I'm running Logic 8 btw.
I thought Logic might automatically be initializing it's key commands from their provided key commands list, but after removing them I found that was not the case.
I also tried deleting my com.apple.logic.pro.plist file but still the screen set key commands keep showing up.
Does anyone know a way to keep Logic from adding them back into the key commands everytime I start it up?

instead of using "learn by key label" I used "learn by key position" and then the numbers on the number pad can be whatever I want!
    YESSSSSS.
    thanks again for your help!
LOL, OK, you never mentioned the keypad... I just assumed you were after the top row number keys... but those on the numpad are indeed available (or set in limestone). Good persistance! And thanks for reporting your solution.

  • Default key commands "Bonking"

    Hi all,
Just picked up Logic Pro Studio. On numeric keyboard, as I try to start and stop with 0, I get a "apple bonk". Also astrik "record" and other short cut keys. Watching a tutorial and see that these keys are suppose to do something. How can I reset default command keys or adjust these key to work properly.

    thanks for the reply jdredge,
He was useing 9 in the tutorial but probably had earlier versions as you described. I deleted tranzport from control surface, repaired disc, trashed prefs (com. apple playlist and playlist cs. reset defaults (although I've only been on it for a week and didn't change anything. ) I haven't hit it hard for system specs but I'm running 10.5.7 with Logic pro 9. Do you think it makes a difference if I went to 10.5.8 and logic 9.0.1? Or are these the new defaults and that wouldn't matter. One more thing, as I look at key command list... what is a up arrow (like a greater than or less than symbol but points up) with a line over it , and what is an arrow that kinda swoops down from the right and goes left?
Thanks again for writing, I'll try your suggestion.

  • Problems Editing Key Commands

This started occuring after I opened a new project and played about with the 'adjust tempo by length locators' command.
I originally had apple T set as the shortcut to split regions, sometime during this it changed to the shortcut for the tempo change command.
Now when I go back to the key command list to change it, I can't seem to set split at SPL back to apple T; whenever I press T, it enters as "-116" ?!
Hopefully that makes sense, it's frustrating me a lot!

Hmm, it seems only the split by rounded SPL is working.
The standard split at SPL has been set to shift, apple T, but this is doing nothing whatsoever.
I've checked through the list and found the shortcut used twice so I got rid of the other instances but it's still not working.
Is it possible to search the key command list by shortcut rather than by function?

  • What is the default key command for the COMMAND key?I seem to have changed it somehow along the way and now when I push the command key it hides all windows or shows desk top I need to correct this as soon as possible-.any ideas?

What is the default key command for THE COMMAND (apple) key? I seem to have changed it somehow along the way and now when I push the command key (only) it hides all open windows and shows the desk top and when I push it again it shows all windows again...I need to return to default A.S.A.P. just this one key...Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

    Go to
     > System Preferences > Keyboard
Click on the 'Keyboard' tab and hit the 'modifier keys...' button. You can see and change the defaults there.
As I'm not sure if all the labels are the same in Lion, he's a screenshot from Snow Leopard. It should be similar enough:

  • Advice needed on Key Commands presets in Logic

Hi, just upgraded to Snow Leopard and Logic 9 and very happy. Now I'm planning to work more with key commands. While watching many Logic 9 tutorial video's on youtube etc. I find different Logic users seem to work with different (default) key commands. For example: on http://www.youtube.com/user/groove3Inc#p/search/2/BSE3VdlkZJM he's using Ctrl * for 'Capture as recording', while for me the default command is Ctrl Alt Cmd R
    Now my question is:
    1. What is the default / standard key command preset in Logic
    2. Which Key Command preset in Logic would be best to use (also considering that on a different location I sometimes work with Protools)
    3. Which Key Command preset in Logic would be best to use considering the many tutorials I find on the web
Or any other advice / tips on key commands...
    Thanks!

You can easily create your own set of key commands, according to your own needs. I mean, you still can learn some built-in key commands, but you can also change them as you please. Probably, in your case it might make sense to have the same set of key commands for both Logic and Pro Tools, to make life easier.

  • Is there a key command for "none" when making a list but I'm finished

When I am making a numbered list, Pages automatically adds numbers to the next line when I hit "return."
    for example
    1) sdjfskdfdsjdk
    2) ahfghfdghfdhnvbcnbncbv
    3) tereteewtrterwtret
    4)
In this case, there are only three elements, but Pages goes ahead and thinks I'm going to keep going with the list.
Is there a key command I can map that will "de-number" the fourth line so I can keep typing without having to go up to the task bar and select "none"?

Pages User Guide which is also for you claims :
As pressing return twice doesn't behave well here, I decided to use the second sceme return + delete which works well every time.

    Hi,
Apple Care Level one responders are very Script Led.
This means they try to fit what you are saying into a Software or Hardware issue and into a Apple Care Period or  not.
If you are having problems convincing them it is an Account/Apple ID problem (even though it only effects the Mac's use of it in iMessages) ask to speak to a Level 2 person who should be more knowledgeable because fixing and Id issue is free and not subject to Apple Care.

  • Key Commands Printable List

Does anyone know of a printable list (posibbly pdf) of the most commonly used key commands por Logic?
    Thanks for the help.

Someone posted a very nicely done PDF of the default key commands in the "Tips and Tricks" section at http://LogicProHelp.com

  • Cycle mode key command

Hi. I know this may be trivial but I've been searching everywhere for a key command for toggling cycle mode with no success. Anyone who knows would be so kind to help. Also, is there a list of default key commands anywhere that can be found? I looked for it in the manuals but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance.

Did you customise that yourself, or is it one of the language/region differences?
I've been with Logic since Logic 1.x. I've been known to customise my own key commands plenty (which is the key to a powerful, fast, efficient and bespoke workflow).
They evolve over time, of course. Like how they stopped letting you assign the tab key in LP8. Tab has been my "set rounded locators and play and cycle selection" for fifteen years until LP8... grr...
I set up what makes most sense to me, not what makes most sense to some random guy in Hamburg.
No one else works in Logic the exact same way as me, or uses the same functions in the same way. I set up the things I need to keys that make the most sense. I may constantly use function X and therefore assign to a single key, and never use function Y and so deassign it. You may rely on function Y but never user function X at all. So how can a generic set of key commands work optimally for every persons unique workflow and requirements?
If you already know where to look & how to search!
Yeah, of course. I'm just talking general cases really...
The main problem is often not knowing what something is called, therefore not having the ability to easily search the documentation. That's where other users can give a valuable heads up.
Eg type "key commands" into the search of the manual...

  • How to disable shortcut keys not listed in the keyboard shortcuts system

    Hi all
As a Graphic Designer I find the shortcut Shift+F12 amazingly irritating when using QuarkXpress, as this is the key command for editing the colours list. For those of you who don't know this shortcut works exactly the same as F12 (Hide/Show dashboard but in slow motion.
You may be supprised that I find this of somewhat limited usefulness.
    Can anybody help?
    Ta

    Hi supertottenham
The Shift key is slo-mo for several functions so I doubt if it can be disabled.
However if Dashboard is not one of your priorities there is an app called TinkerTool which enables alterations to several of the built in apps including Dashboard which it stops appearing completely including Shift+F12
It is a freeware download from http://www.bresink.de/
Hope this is of some use
