Need New Boot Disk/No recovery disk for Windows 8.1

Screen says hp.con./go/techcenter/startup
My other computer is a windows 7 and the new computer that is getting the message is supposed to be Windows 8.1. Can I somehow make a recovery disk on the Windows 7 system so that I can get the new system up and running.

  • New HP HDD load recovery disks fails to boot after install process on pressing continue

I have Pavilion d7-4165dx notebook. I live out US, though made purchase from US (BestBuy).
    - HDD failed after renewing trial period of virus software.
    - All diagnostics would not recognize HDD.
    - HP support indicated still in warranty, but I am out of country.  HP indicated most likely issue was HDD cable.
    - Purchase cables and had someone hand carry out of US.
    - Installed, still same response.
    - Ordered new HDD from HP.  Backordered.  Finally on inquiring was directed to a US 3rd part rep.  He recommended buying directly from outlet, but a higher speed.  Did that and then HP replacement HDD arrives.  Hand carry both out of US.
    - Install faster (slightly smaller) Seagate 500G 7200.  Started recovery with recovery disks (5 total that received from BestBuy, but not OEM looking), but is squawked as new HDD is smaller than original WD 640G 5400.   Put WD into #1 bay and Seagate into #2.
    - Start recovery disk process.  Go through entire recovery from factory process and on last disk, it says to not touch while PC boots on and off, etc.  Then says press Continue to continue.
    - When press continue, simply goes to black screen with "No boot device..."
    - Run other options, same message.
    - Ran diagnostics.  HDD all OK.
    - Called HP support.  He indicates I need to buy the HP recovery disks.  The ones I have (5) are not the right one, that there should only be 3!  They are as I received from BestBuy, but look like they were made there when BestBuy sets up the PC.
    Any suggestions anyone?

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but rather a similar issue.  I replaced a 320Gb - 5400 rpm drive that failed with a 750Gb - 7200 rpm drive and even though I have the factory restore disks, it won't recognize the hard drive and I too get the "No Boot device" message.  Unfortunately, the BIOS is not the best and it won't allow me to see if it actually recognizes the new hdd, which I suspect it doesn't.  Either that or I have a bad MB.
    Sytem information - HP G71-340US
    Processor - 2.20 GHz Intel Core2 Duo Processor T6600
    BIOS - InsydeH20 3.5
Recovery manager *appears* to be installing W7 just fine, but it's a no go when it's time to actually boot to it.  Is this a mb issue or did I just buy the wrong hd?

I have hand-installed the NVidia graphics driver, and I have keyboard, minimal trackpad, and hardwire to internet all working. So the WIndows machine is usable. But I am hurting for wi-fi, better trackpad, and whatever else is delivered by Boot Camp. I can't use any of the Boot Camp upgrades because I do not have XP or Vista.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use Boot Camp. There's a Boot Camp Support Community where everybody uses Boot Camp. You should also post this question there.

  • How do i run a new software program (Investment Account Manager for Windows) using Windows emulation software?

How can I run a new software program (Investment Account Manager for Windows) using Windows emulation software?

You will need a licensed copy of Windows 7, and I recommend VMFusion. You can run the program in Unity mode just as if it were a Mac application. Or, you can install Windows in Bootcamp and run the Mac in Windows when you boot and run it that way. Depends on the resources. I prefer the VM method because it is cleaner and gives you more options as far as backups, etc.

  • Cannot install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on my macbook. I also installed Boot Camp 3.0.1 after Windows 7 installation, however, WiFi did not work. Therefore, I needed to upgrade to the latest Boot Camp 3.2. However, when I tried to install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 74 bit, I got an error message saying that I needed Boot Camp 3.1 installed first. I CANNOT find Boot Camp 3.1 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit on Apple website at all. Can someone please help me on this? Is there a way to get the complete Boot Camp 3.2 package that can simply be installed on version 3.0.1??

here is the link to bootcamp 3.1 for windows 7 64 bit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1336 .. and no there is no package that can be applied to the windows side to go from 3.0.1 to 3.2

    Hi jurleana15722686,
Are you working with a subscription version or perpetual (where you bought the software outright)? Are you running into a particular problem or receiving an error message when you try to activate?
For starters, please check out this document: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html.
If you're still having trouble, please let us know what the exact issue is, including any error messages that you're receiving. It would also be helpful to know what version of Windows you're using.

  • 'Recovery Service for Windows'

Hi.  Looking at "Services" and "Startup" processes on a tx2500z, "Hide all Microsoft services" checked, what is:
"Recovery Service for Windows", manufacturer Unknown.  Thnx.

Hi.  Some additional information from task manager..  This process points to BLService.exe*32, located in C:\WIndows\SMINST, with the description 'Application MFC STServices'.  From what I understand this BLService is an HP solution to a microsoft bitlocker process?
I'm not having a problem with this application that I am aware of (not like the ppl were having in this thread).  I just want to know generally what it is doing and if disabling it from system start-up will increase overall performance.
    Thnx

  • Equium A210 171 What info do i need before i use the recovery disk?

    Hi,
I have 1 recovery disk that came with my equium, haven't used it before.
On the back of the recovery disk envelope it says "insert the first disk"
I'm assuming there should be a second?
Also what info will i need to provide during the install process? like serial number?
All i have is a black and white sticker that's on the side of the box it came in, but that was so long ago.
I'm having lots of issues with windows installer not running and many others,
Windows updates won't work either and i've tried to fix those but a clean reinstall of the os was recommended.
Now at this point nothing will install because windows installer won't work.
So i think i wil lhave to attempt a clean install, but i'm not even sure the cd drive will work.
I have gotten a great run out of this laptop, bit slow for my needs today but over all great product, bought in 2007.
With a clean os and 4 gigs of ram this thing could last for years more, can't afford a new one right now.
I have really tried to avoid using a recovery disk in the past, as i've never had any serious issues till now.
    Thanks

Im wondering why you get such disk together with your notebook why? Because I did not get the recovery disk but I had to create one using the Toshiba Recovery disk creator software
But my notebook is newer than your A210 this might be the reason why you got such disk
I created a recovery disk and I needed two DVD disks I think these depends on the image file size
    > Also what info will i need to provide during the install process? like serial number?
This is not needed because your system was already activated.
But I recommend to backup your personal data because the recovery disk would format the whole HDD and you would lose the files.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - New ODD ignors the Recovery disk

    Hi,
_Satellite Pro A200 PSAE4E Windows XP_
I started getting bad “Not-Ready” system errors on the original ODD. Toshiba Disc Creator report: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H TO01. I tried the FW update, but that did not help.
I replaced the ODD with a new one from Amazon. Toshiba Disc Creator report: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H SC04. The new ODD is listed as suitable in the User Manual - it’s the same model as the original. The new ODD works perfectly for normal use within XP. But when I attempt to use the Recovery Disk, it is ignored and XP always boots from the HDD. And when I press F12 during boot, the new ODD is not listed.
Can you assist me to get the ODD recognised at boot time please?
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Thank you for your replies.
To be exact, I see the following at boot time:
F12 shows only HD and LAN boot options.
F2 shows the usual 4 options, HD, ODD, Floppy and LAN.
But since I have no floppy either, I suspect the F12 list is the correct one - and it fails to show an ODD option.
    @C3PO
Yes, Ive tried all those ideas, and I have the latest A200 BIOS.
    @Akuma
So it is insufficient to have the correct model number? It should be explained somewhere that even if you have the correct ODD model, it may still not work.
Please can you give me a link to Toshiba, so that I can obtain a suitable ODD. I'm in England.
    Thanks for your swift assistance.

  • HT1338 new MacBook air. Recovery disk not made

I have a Macbook air (Dec 2011) which came preloaded with Lion OS.
About a month ago (August or early this month) I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
On disk utilites, it is reported that the verification can not continue as the file system is corrupted and I am asked to use the recovery disk and restart.
Now have not made any recovery disk. In fact while writing this I am taking a back up on an excternal drive.
I do not know if the corrupted files will be backed up as well. I suppose, even if it does, after I have recovered the OS or rpaired it, the back will also get the replaced / repaired image.
I am going to try and recover it online, and I am woried that my MS office for Mac and other software may need a new installation. I mean its not only the time but also the chargeable GBs that I have to pay for. (I have a monthly 15 GB 3-G plan) This is in fact one reason I do not use the iCloud.
I will report back if I was able to recover / repair the system.
By the way, apparantly my  Macbook air  shows no symptom of sickness. I guess the OS is good may be some file system is corrupted and that is why the disk utility stopped the verification.
    J.

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    df -Hl
Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered — the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • Satellite M30-107 does not boot correctly after Recovery disk usage

    Hi
I've recently got hold of a second hand toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop, and decided to freshen it up.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after doing so the laptop no longer loads windows.
When turned on it shows the Toshiba start up disk for about a second then goes to a blank screen and freezes.
When turned off and on again a screen comes up reporting an error in shutting down and gives the options to start in safe mode etc. but choosing any of the options causes the machine to freeze.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    jt

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like the notebook does not boot due to the Windows software issue
Did you recover the M30 with the original Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this M30 unit?
Maybe Im wrong but for me it looks like a wrong recovery CD was used and an image with non compatible drivers was installed
You could try to install the OS from original Microsoft Win XP CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruining using clean OS.
In such case we ( you and me ;) ) could find out if this issue could be related to the software or hardware.
    Bye

  • Drive Partition causing issues after new hard drive and recovery disks installed

I have an HP Pavilion Media Center PC m7640n running Windows XP Media Center Edition.
My hard drive failed and I had a computer guy install a 1 TB Hard drive as well as additional memory.  I purchased the recovery disks and he installed everything for me.  I have two issues:
    1.  After updating to XP Service Pack 3 and all other Windows recommended upgrades the computer deleted all my drivers and would not "plug and play" install anything.  I had the computer guy back to fix this--he did get all my drivers to work, but when I plug in anything new for the first time (such as my iPad), I have to go into the device manager and manually update the drivers.  The computer doesn't recognize it and automatically prompt me to install it.
    2.  The hard drive partition defaulted to my C drive being very small and my D drive being large.  Since software usually defaults to the C drive for installation, I quickly ran out of space.  I had the computer guy back and he programmed something so that everything now defaults to the D drive.  Unfortunately all my program files (including Microsoft Office) are still on my C drive including everything I put on my desktop.  My C drive is now full.
Here is an example:  iTunes shows that it is defaulting to the D drive for anything I load into it.  Yet I tried to download the new operating system for my iPad and it said my hard drive was full.  When I did a file search to see what files had changed in the last week, it shows iTunes on my C drive (and my D drive).  Yet all the files that were "changed" due to my upgrade were defaulting to the C drive, even though in the setting in iTunes it shows it should be saving to the D drive.
    D:\Documents and Settings\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
Is there an easy way to fix these issues?  I've already spent more than I anticipated when I chose to rebuild this computer vs buying a new one.  Now I'm regretting the decision and I'd like to try and fix this myself and not pay my computer guy to come back at $90/hour.
    Thanks!

Here are the original specs of your computer. The specs state that the original hard drive was 320GB. You have since replaced the factory drive with a 1TB (1000GB) hard drive. The HP recovery routine seems to have issues with hard drives that deviate from the original size. The partition issues you are experiencing may be a result of this. As for the rest of your issues, it sounds like the SP3 install went bad.
If I were you, I would consider reinstalling the OS using your recovery discs by doing a complete "destructive" reinstall/recovery. Afterward, I would post the size of both the c: and d: partitions... and go from there.
