Need of a JSP tutorial

Please give me a link for a JSP (JDeveloper 10g's) tutorial that demonstrate How to Insert and extract data from a table..

Use the JSTL SQL Tag Lib.

Trouble with bc4j/jsp tutorial

I'm having difficulty running the bc4j/jsp tutorial in the doc pages. he ones on the oracle website, not through the help menu cos it's modal!
After the second start from scratch I'm pretty certain I'm doing excatly as instructed but on starting the oc4j, I get the following error page in IE...
Any ideas?

2. Are you running on a deployed environment?No. This was as the tutorial, in the embedded oc4j

4. Did your BC4J project compile cleanly?yes (or at least it appeared to do!)
5. Did you check the Deploy Password box when you created your database connection?yes.
I shall be reading up on the bc4j.xcfg today...

Need JSP tutorial - EBS 11.5.9

Hi all,
I would like to quickly implement a few jsp query and data entry pages in my EBS 11.5.9 enviroment. Can somebody point me to a good tutorial or book that will get me up and running quickly? I searched for a local Oracle University class that would give me what I need, but didn't find anything...

But as far as I remember there is only particular patchset version of 11.5.9 for which OA patched Jdeveloper is available, so if you are planning to work on OAF, make sure that you have the right Jdev, otherwise, you would not be able to develop OAF pages with Jdev, on 11.5.9
See old threads for the correct jdev patch for 11.5.9 with your instance patchset level.

Looking for Eclipse/JSP tutorial

Anyone know of any good web tutorial on JSP/Servlets using Eclipse? This will save me from asking a ton of simple questions. In my initial google search I did not find anything all that good.

Need Help with DataboundComponents Tutorial

Running XP SP2 with local derby and remote Oracle 9i
SJSC2.1 on XP - up-to-date
Completed the DataboundComponents tutorial, I am trying to use the same "idea" with app myyrock that uses Oracle 9i (remote Sun Solaris 9 box)
The derby/travel version works ..The oracle/myyrock version fails with the following error:
I believe it is a problem is within the sessionBean1.java file and also the prerender in page1.jsp...
"Report" is a table and ReportID is the PK of the table
Table report coincides with table Travel.Person.

You are trying to add a recordset to a page, right? You need
to have told
the page where to GET that recordset first, by adding a data
connection to
it.

JSPs are best used for displaying UI - since you already have it working in the middle layer with Java classes you should keep it that way.
If you want to pass data back and forth between the Java class that sends mail and the JSP use JavaBeans and make use of jsp:useBean tag and other related tags.
Also so consider upgrading to JSTL 1.1 , instead of using scriptlets in JSPs.
I don't know why you want to make it work in the JSP itself. If you still want it to work in the JSP the post more details about what error you're getting - look in the log files if necessary.

Need Suggestion about JSP/Servlet OR JSF2.0

I am new to Java and working on it as fast as possible. Got 5+ years experience in ASP.NET C#. I have covered basics of Java and now want to jump into web development by making a project by converting one of my ASP.NET project.
I have explored Servlet/JSP and JSF2.0. Want to learn only one from them and put all my energies in it. I find JSF more robust, clean and easy to use with templating etc . I am doing all this so that I cover most of the things to complete one full project and try to find a job as starter in Java.
Now my questions
As a starter job in Java what things should I know?
Should I learn Servlet/JSP even if I am good at JSF (suppose)?
Do companies still need skills in Servlet/JSP or they are adopting JSF?

see jsf and jsp both are based on the servlet .main things is that you have to learn servlet first .Why wouldn't you want to switch your technology? Java barely existed when I started my career. If I had stuck with only the language I needed for my first job, I'd have very few jobs available to me now. If one technology was good for everything, then other technologies wouldn't be invented--we would have stuck with the first technology. Different languages have different advantages (and different disadvantages). You should learn what you need for the tasks you are given, as well as learn what you need for the jobs that are available. If there are fewer jobs in technologies you already know, you should learn a new one. Or, you can learn a new one just because you want to expand your horizons, or any other reason you feel like.

Need help in JSP and Servlets

Now, to my problem..i need a suggestion, a way or a method to implement the following!
I am supposed to create a servlet that reads data from oracle database. Once i retrive the data (for example: 6 rows of a table having 4 attributes), i am supposed to pass this data to a JSP page where the data has to be formatted and displayed properly. If i call the same servlet from a different JSP, i should be able to access the data in that JSP and format it in a different way. How do i pass the data to JSP? what method i can use to achieve this task?
Note: I already know about PrintWriter pw = response.getWriter(); and then printing the formated HTML page..but i want to keep the formatting to JSP part and send only the data part that i can access in JSP

I need help with this tutorial from the Adobe website

Am I on the right track?? The editor uses Flash Builder but I'm using Flash Pro cc.

In need of a jsp book :)

I'm planning on converting a asp website to jsp and I need to figure out the following:
1: servlet that gives out connection objects from a pool and manages "lost" connections to a mysql db
2: a bean that has getConnection and closeConnection that is used on every jsp page.
3: servlet/bean that can check size/dimesions/filetype on a remote url image
4: Figure out what users are logged in at every given moment. result: x users are on, these are user1, user2, user3. automatic removal when session runs out. probably need a servlet for this.
Its been 3 years since I've touched java so i hope you guys can recomend a jsp book that can answer these questions for me and help me get started with this project?

deitel advanced java 2 platform how to program
the last ook has a servlet and jsp section ut I suspect that java has evolved since then so thats why I'm asking if you have any other suggestions that offer more than 2 chapters. Its really basic the stuff i have :)

Need help w/ JSP formating a page.

Ok. I need to make the following code work. I think it needs help w/ formating is all. Below is the JSP page I would like it in as well as where I think the code should go. Not shure how to get it to display the output though.

Great catch on the aplet and maybe that is where I am going wrong. So let me back up a little and maybe you can get me out of my bind.
Basically what I want for a test app is: a little text box w/ a button. type in an number and click the button.
the button will then send the info to a terminal emulator. (ibm host on demand)
So that is what the 3 include statements where for. I got that from the API example.
so what I really need the page to do is print the list of connections.
so I need to get the latest session ID:

I m using JDK 1.5 and Tomcat 5.0 the problem is that after starting server when I m going to access my application at that time instead of displaying HomePage it directly display the blank page on screen.

After getting this kind of error I have analyzed my code furhter then I came to know that there was problem with static include tag.
In my jsp page I have used following line which is the main cause of error
<%@ include file="top.jsp" %>If I ommit this line then it is working properly.
Instead of static include I have used jsp:include also.
Still I m getting same problem.
We have to migrated from JDK 1.5 to 1.6 and Tomcat 5.0.28 to 6.0.14, still same problem is there.
We have tried a lot but didnt get success to overcome this problem.
If anybody having any solution then ur each reply will be appreciated.

It doesn't seem any problem with top.jsp. As per my thinking the problem is there in include due to that it doesn't compile the JSP page in Tomcat 6.0.
Earlier I am having same code running on the Tomcat 5.0.28 and JDK 1.5.0.

ei, i'm learning about jsp's... i'm reading this book and trying all this examples given in the book.
my problem is where am i suppose to put all the jsp's and beans?
this is where i put all my programs as stated in the book... webapps/ROOT/web-inf/classes/calculators/
i've made this folder calculator as what is instructed in the book... and i've put the class file and jsp of the Triangle program i've made.
and in the web browser... i type this url... http://localhost:8080/Triangle.jsp but it generates http 404.
what add-ins should i put in the web.xml? please tell me all i need to do.

Need Information on JSP to JSP Communication

I am working in a Banking domain. I got a problem where i need to communication One JSP located in One SERVER to Another JSP Located in ANOHTER SERVER. I am not able to find the solution. Some Body Please Help me out.

See if you dont know anything about the JSP in another Server, it would be difficult for you to achieve what you are trying to do.
Let us say u have a JSP named 1.jsp and u need to connect to 2.jsp in another Server. Teh Problem is you might not know what are all the Parameters that the other Server / JSP is expecting. First identify that.
If the JSP only pulls data from the URL Query String, you are saved... All you need to do is POST the first JSP to teh Second JSP with the Parameters
For Example:
