Need Quick Help: LR and PS issue

In my work flow, I do all of my adjustments in LR but I do send certain photos into PS to get fine tuned and then the file is usually re-imported back into LR so that I can organize my files and upload them to various sites and services.
The issue that I am having now, is that when I choose to save the photo as a full sized JPEG it no longer automatically imports in back into LR even if I manually do it. It only re-imports the photos automatically if I save it as a Tiff.
Someone recommended on another forum that I might need to change the file names which worked, but no longer linked the photo to the original cr2 file.
Could anyone help me resolve this issue?

You might want to read the thread. The OP is rendering the file to PS. Irrespective of whether the RAW file is converted to DNG or not this requires the creation of a TIFF or PSD.
Converting a TIFF to DNG would be pointless ,DNG is a TIFF itself, and create larger files as TIFF's zip compression, which is lossless, is not only the same as used by DNG but can also support layers which DNG cannot.
Personally the only time I open a file from LR into PS is when I have a issue that requires the use of layers as anything else editing wise can be done in LR. I always save with the layers intact so I can reopen if I need. This does create pretty large files, from even smallish originals, let alone 21 MP cameras. However I have loads of hard drive space. If you are short of hard drive space then just enable TIFF's zip compression, this will be at the expense of longer save and open times, but otherwise have no effect on the files itself other than reducing its size considerable.

Why do I need Quick time 7 and Quicktime 10 ?

I have just migrated from iMac5 (2.16 GHz) Mac OS 10.4.11 Quicktime 7.6.4 to a new imac 3.06 Mac OS 10.6.2 Quicktime 10.0.
Some of my quicktime files play ok but others prompt me to download quicktime version 7. Why do I need to do this ? (There seem to be a lot of problems with this looking at the forums). All the files play on the old mac. Why isn't Quicktime forward compatible or why is there no import facility so that you can make your old files compatible ?

Because your system thinks you are missing specific codecs required for the playback of certain compression formats. In some cases this may be an installation problem in which the codec was "lost" or "orphaned" during the update process. In others it may be a need to update the component to work properly under the dual QT X/7 framework installed under the Snow Leopard OS. You need to check the Inspector/Finder Info or similar window to determine what specific codec is causing the problem and then re-install or update that specific codec/component/package.
(There seem to be a lot of problems with this looking at the forums).
Most of the problems are "self-inflicted" by individuals who, rather than studying the problem symptoms, analyzing them to determine their cause, and then fixing the problems, elect to immediately delete and re-install software -- often attempting to mix components from different operating systems and/or update versions of the software in their haste.
All the files play on the old mac. Why isn't Quicktime forward compatible or why is there no import facility so that you can make your old files compatible?
I am running both Leopard and Snow Leopard variations of QT v7.6.6 and all of my "old" files have remained compatible -- to include MPEG-2 video and a limited number of third-party supported compression formats. Since my configurations continue to work properly, my first guess is that you have an unresolved configuration problem or inability for your QT X 64-bit routines to communicate/switch properly with the 32-bit routines as required for your content.
Why do I need Quick time 7 and Quicktime 10?
Technically, you probably don't. However, as an old QT 7 Pro user who likes many of the QT 7 Player controls/options/features better than QT X's new but more basic features, I maintain both in active service and tend to use QT 7 as the default player of most of my work flows. Still, this is up to the individual. I am in no hurry to rush the changeover from an older but still more reliable QT technology to a more modern, but as yet, less mature and well tested "new" QT technology. In short, I feel it best to make the most of both dispensations during the development of this "new" version of QT.

Hiding Quick Help Link and Force Display Explanation Message

We are using the Talent Profile window in Talent Management and have added custom help text in the explanation hierarchy elements for each view using Floorplan manager configuration. The requirement is for this help text to always be shown when the user views the screen. Also immediately to the right of the explanation text is a link "Hide Quick Help". We would like to Hide/remove that link from the screen so that the users will not accidentally hide the help text in the explanation UI element. Now I have searched the forums here and saw threads such as Show explanation by defaul ("Display Quick Help")? and How to hide Display Quick Help and More Field Help and others. I have tried using the application parameters WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION and WDHIDEMOREFIELDHELPASDEFAULT.The setting WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION = X successfullyremoved the personalization options from the context menu. I tried WDHIDEMOREFIELDHELPASDEFAULT and if the user had previously selected "Hide Quick Help", setting this parameter to either X or space did not bring up the Explanation text when that user closed out of and then re-entered the application. Does anyone know how to force this text to display regardless of what the user previously selected?
Also I am at a lost as to how to get rid of the link "Hide Quick Help". Any help will be appreciated.

Need Quick Help if Possible

I have two big questions that I need urgent help with.

Remove all the videos that won't play from your iPod. Go to the Store menu in iTunes, Deauthorize your computer, play one of the videos in question and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password. Resync the videos.

Help Needed re:Spry Tooltip and render issue with XP

I have an issue with spry tooltip and XP not sure why ?
Here it is I am designing/building a website for a restaurant, I am making use of the spry tooltip on the menu page as a rollover for a larger menu image to appear, which it does. Everything is cool in Vista etc. but if you are using XP for some reason the rollover effect only works once and then no more until the page is refreshed which is really annoying and certainly not the effect i am looking for. I know this is occuring because of this line of code :-
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7"> which I need to keep in.
Does ANYONE know a quick fix ? or ran into this problem before ?
I am sure the attached .JS file is the key to fix.

This is one of those situations you may need to see to believe,
whats happening is only on an XP IE8 browser which the ******** client is looking at (what are the odds)?
On newer systems and other browsers NO problem:-
You bring up the menu page and mouse over spry triggers and it works PERFECTLY, but only ONCE when you try again the cursor flickers as the trigger is engaged and nothing is revealed? I am sure the spry is working but somehow it is being hidden from rendering correctly as if trapped behind another image or on a delay, and then when you mouse off maybe 500ms later the image flickers into view and dissappears almost instantly. (an obvious error of some sort)
This only occurs when I place this source code in the head tags:-

Without code works fine, but I need to include this code for it to look as it should cross browser.
Ask me anything I will help as much as I can but right now I am at a loss !

I am very lost and need quick help. my i photo is not working, can't open it. unexpected closed-

when i want to open my i phozo it open it for 2 seconds, then it closes and it says it was unexpected closed and and i have the selecction to choose between ok and try again, when i press try again, its the same like before. now im very very very worried that my pictures are gone... terrible... pleeeeeeeease help!!!!!!

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Brand new to the Mac World and NEED SOME HELP with startup disk issues

Hello everyone. I am a new Mac user and I purchased my mac on ebay. It's an iMac that came with tiger 10.4.11. I wanted to get a fresh start on the computer, since the person who had it before me did not erase all of his stuff. I didn't know what to do so I got a startup disk/install disk off ebay also. When I go to install it says "software cannot be installed on this computer." Before I bought the software, I had called the apple store and they said it should be fine to buy any install software to put on the computer. If I could get any help it would be appreciated. I had read previous threads that I should hold down c when I start up (didn't work) or that I should select archive or erase and install (I never got these options when I went to install).

What iMac is it? I only ask as the Retail Tiger CD/DVDs don't work on IntelMacs, only PPC, (G3, G4, G5 Macs).
Sorry what you were told by the Apple Store, but if it's a Gray CD/DVD then it is Machine specific as Neil stated.

Need quick help, please!!! How do I scan the counter and analog channel in parallel, synchronized?

I'm using LabView6.1 and a PCI6014 DAQ card.
I have to scan simultaneously an analog channel and the counter on the card. My project requires me to measure in parallel a force (a voltage on an analog channel) in correspondence to a distance (measured with a counter) and I have to display a force-distance graph.
So, can someone please tell me how can I program the counter and an analog channel to take 1000 measurements in parallel, and then, by reading the buffers to have two sets of corresponding measurements?
I've tried some things and I've got only an error message, that says that there is no free DMA channel available (the error comes from configuring
the analog channel). I attached one of these programs that gives this error, maybe somebody can tell me what I do wrong.
If somebody could send me an example (in LabView6, I have no 7 :-( ), I would be grateful.

Hi pixooxiq,
unfortunately, your Card has only one DMA-Channel.
If you want to use two Channels simutaneously, you have to tell one of them to use an Interrupt instead.
This option can be set with the "Set DAQ Device Information.VI"
Just see the Bitmap, I've attached.
Perhaps, you now get Performance-problems, cause the IRQ does not directly write the Data but involves the CPU. In this case the only possibillity is to use an other card with more than 1 DMA-Channel...

Problems with MSN Messenger - need quick help

I posted yesterday that I was having some trouble with my Ameritrade stock trading account, it was a java issue and they had me delete the cache in java and my Ameritrade worked again.
Now this morning I'm having problems with MS messenger which I use all day long for my job. When I try to sign in it keeps telling me it can't sign me in and I must not be connected to the internet. Which I am.
Its got some thing to do with my airport wireless thingy. Is there some way to "open" that up. When I unplug it and then replug it back in I can sign in to MS messenger for about a minute but then it somehow blocks it.
It keeps me on the internet but I get a message that I an not connected to .NET Messenger service. It is blocking me on my laptop PC now too. And it behaves the same way. After unplugging the airport I get a quick window where I can sign in but after that it blocks that .NET messenger service.
Is there some way I can open up the airport so I can get on the NET messenger service. Skype and iChat work but I can't use either for my job.
Does anyone have any suggestions (I'm begging here cuz i start work at 9:30 am and I need it working by then!).

Wow this is a mess, I want to add that again i'm sure its the airport extreme somehow. However on my PC laptop I can sign into messenger with an older version of it but when i try the new LIVE messenger it won't let me sign in.
The iMac version forces you to use the latest version so I can't use an older "non live" version to sign in with. I am praying someone can help me figure out what is wrong.

I need quick help - iDVD5 crashes

I apologize in advance for the redundance of this topic, as I realize that the issues I'm facing are probably largely documented here, but my problem is I have very little time ahead of me and I can't browse all the topics.
I have 15 odd hours to burn an iMovie film, and here are the issues I've encountered so far :
- When trying to burn a DVD in iDVD5 (updated to the last version), I either get crashes at phase 2 (processing menus) or stalling task bar as it is processing the video itself. Right now it's stuck, no beachball, just the radioactive icon spinning. The video sequence it's actually stuck in was processed in another try, only to stop at another farther in the film.
- I've tried both direct burning and imagedisk burning (via the menu and via that little "plugin" (press alt+ctrl), I'm getting only crashes and stalling.
My config is a dual 1Ghz G4 MDD, and I'm working on my internal HD.
I'm sorry if this has been covered, but I'm very very busy and I would appreciate any quick feedback on this.

Do you have 20GB+ free on your start-up hard drive?
This frequently helps solve some problems. Quit iDVD. Search for the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it. (A new one will be created next launch of iDVD.) Or look in: User/Library/Preferences. This may solve project loading errors too. Restart and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.

Here A, B, C are columns and C column is Calculated Item(A-B) and Maximum and Sum are Totals items, everything working fine.
The intent is that I would need the difference between totals items I mean Maximum and Sum , i.e Maximum-Sum (147,644.08 - 147,644.08) =0(in this case), but I am not able to get it, can anyone help me on this that would be greatly appreciated.

But when i create new calculation item for examle TEST with calculation MAX(A) over () - SUM(B) over ()
then i am getting new column next to C with name TEST and with two rows of data with 0 (Zero)
like this

why am getting two rows of data, and that too can't we get this ZERO under C column at the same Row as MAX and SUM

if not possible then after adding coumn TEST next to C column can we get ZERO in the row as MAX and SUM

I need some help with my GPS issue

I'm writing to ask you if You could somehow help me solve my GPS issue. I own Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I've recently updated it's software and installed the new OVI Maps. I know that there is an option to use it offline which means without an Internet connection. When I start the Maps application and choose the offline mode, the only thing that appears at the top of the screen is "Searching position". The map is available but my position can't be specified without Internet on. When I turn my wireless router on, even though my maps are set in offline mode, it automatically connects to the Internet and spends something like 5KB download. If I keep navigating it spends even more. I've left my mobile phone offline to search for my position for an about half an hour but nothing happened. So, my question is, could you tell me what to do and how to use OVI Maps offline?

Assuming you are useing Maps 3.06 from beta labs and the map data is the latest compatible maps installed through ovi suite, then all should work well provided you followed the installation instructions correctly. If you don't use assisted gps or any other method of positioning except integrated Gps then you need to be in an open space with clear view of the sky to allow the GPS antenna to get a lock, this can take 10 to 30 minutes (the first time you try for a lock, shouldn't take that long again) and once you have a lock the location should work fine. The reason the other methods are available is thet they speed up the whole process and also work when in built up areas where buildings can block thre satelite view from the gps antenna. The amount of data used to lock your position is minimal and unless you have zero data allowance I suggest using all the positioning methods. If using the navigation abroad, you can disable evrything and simply use integrated GPS as long as you've loaded the local map data to your phone previously.
