Need strategy on DB Pollin

Hi,
I have a requirement, where I need to Poll from multiple tables (16 different table) and based on the last created date, I need to get that specific record that was created last, need to push it to other application through some business logic.
Which one is the better approach:
a. Have all the 16 polling adapters in one single composite and use Pick activity and in the respective onMessage branch, write the business logic and invoke the destination. Each branch has different logic (transformation and few If constructs). Also, target is different for each message.
(OR)
b. Have 16 polling adapters in a composite and using a mediator, route to separate BPELs (each BPEL having its own business logic).
(OR)
c. Have 16 different BPELs, each one with its own polling adapter?
Currently, we are following first approach. But we need to move this code to Cluster. So, distributed polling will come into picture. Need some expert advise on the same.
Regards
Venkat

Hi,
another possibility is to use triggers on the tables to write a message into a single AQ directly in the database. The message structure should be the same for every table. Than you can use a simple AQ adapter in one composite backed by a mediator that can implement routing and transformations no the messages. I think 16 polling adapter can have performance impacts on the database.

  • 2 Users and 2 iPhones, but only 1 MBP.  Need strategy.

    I have a MacBook Pro and iPod touch. I'll be getting a roommate soon at which time we both plan on purchasing iPhones. My research on these forums indicates you can use multiple devices, e.g. a touch and iPhone from the same Mac and iTunes. I'm not clear about 2 iPhones though. Also I cannot get my head around what strategy to use with iTunes to keep different playlists, videos, songs, apps, contacts, etc., etc. straight with one iTunes? Is iTunes smart enough to know which iPhone is which and the preferences for each separate? Even if yes doesn't that mean everything from both people will have to be in the same iTunes which could get confusing.
    Any advice or strategy before I start my adventure would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    CC

    I'm not clear about 2 iPhones though.
    The same applies to 2 iPhones, which includes an iPod, and is the same as an iPod Touch except for the phone and camera.
    Also I cannot get my head around what strategy to use with iTunes to keep different playlists, videos, songs, apps, contacts, etc., etc. straight with one iTunes? Is iTunes smart enough to know which iPhone is which and the preferences for each separate?
    Yes. You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhones with the same iTunes library on the same computer. There is no device limit, and each iPod and/or iPhone can have its own sync preferences with iTunes on the same computer.
    Even if yes doesn't that mean everything from both people will have to be in the same iTunes which could get confusing.
    It shouldn't get confusing. You can create your iTunes playlist and transfer your selected playlist to your iPhone only. The same for podcasts, video, 3rd party apps, and for photos transferred to your iPhone. Your roomate can do the same making the desired selections under the various tabs for his/her sync preferences.
    The problem will be if you won't be sharing the same/existing iTunes account, and syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal.
    A Mac is designed for multiple computer login accounts with each login account having its own Home folder directory that is kept seperate. You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process.
    Your roomate can access his/her email accounts only with the Mail.app under his/her login account, the same for contacts in the Address Book, calendar events in iCal, iPhoto library, the iTunes library with a different iTunes account, along with all user data with both login accounts kept completely seperate. Each login account has a Shared folder where documents can be placed to be shared between each login account. Each login account can have its own wallpaper, screen saver, various computer settings, etc., etc. giving each login account the impression the computer is his/her own computer. Each login account has access to the same applications, and you can give another user account computer admin privileges or not.

    I have been using one apple ID for my family as it makes it easier to manage itunes purchases/rentals on all of our devices.  Now that my kids are getting old and my wife has recently purchased an Iphone, I can see that I need to change my strategy. I plan to add a few more iphones to the family very soon.  What is your recommendation to manage all of our devices (iphones, itouch, apple tv) for my family?  Can I continue to function with one apple ID or is it time to take the leep into attempting to manage multi-apple ID's?

    There's a few ways of managing multiple devices on a single computer (and keeping seperate content on each). The following document is worth checking through:

  • Family Migration Strategy needed (from mobileme)

    My brain is about to explode. I have read countless articles about mobileme to iCloud migration, and I am NOT clear as to how to accomplish this...
    - I have an "AppleID" ([email protected]) that I have used for my family for countless years to purchase iTunes content.
      - I have a mobileme account ([email protected]) that I have been using for a few years for iCal and Address book sync between 3 family iPhones and 3 family macs. Yes, we all share calendars and contacts.
    It is my understanding that iCloud does not want us to share contacts and calendars. But as a family we want a single address book -- at least a subset of our addresses should be "shared".
    I know that we can use the old AppleID for the store -- [email protected] -- ok, fine.
    BUT - what is the best solution for:
    - iCal calendars. We want to share our calendars between all macs and all IOS devices;
      - Address Book. We have a family shared database -- and we want this shared. In our perfect world, we would have a group shared address book, and then local, non-shared part  (didn't Now Contact handle this just perfectly 12+ years ago?)
    Am I reading this corectly that we can have a 3rd AppleID for certain iCloud services? Is this true? But the "migration" is going to be a mess since we already are using, "[email protected]" for mobileme -- yes?
    CAN I DO THIS:
    1. use my existing [email protected] AppleID for iTunes (purchased content) for ALL devices;
    2. use my existing [email protected] AppleID as MY iCloud address - for all iCloud services EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    3. create a new [email protected] AppleID for wife's iCloud services, EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    4. create a new [email protected] for daughter's iCloud services, EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    5. create a new [email protected] for FAMILY SHARED iCloud services: calendar, address book and photo stream;
    Will this work for us?
    Yes, WE WANT to share our calendars, our contacts and our photos.
    Will the fact that I already have 2 Apple IDs (and one is mobileme) get in the way?
    Is this strategy of a "3rd/SHARED" AppleID for contacts and calendars the correct approach?
    Is there a best-way to do the migration?
    Is there a worst-way/guaranteed to fail/avoid-or-else method?
    WE DO NOT use mobileme or appleID for email.
    WE HAVE gmail accounts in addition to our [email protected] addresses.
    My macs are still on Snow and my iphones are still iOS 4.x (all iPhone 4), so I can't really try it and revert. I really want to take advantage of Lion and iOS5 features -- but if I can't do the shared calendars AND contacts, I need to find the solution before I do this.
    Thanks in advance for your assistance here.
    J

    CAN I DO THIS:
    1. use my existing [email protected] AppleID for iTunes (purchased content) for ALL devices;
    2. use my existing [email protected] AppleID as MY iCloud address - for all iCloud services EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    3. create a new [email protected] AppleID for wife's iCloud services, EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    4. create a new [email protected] for daughter's iCloud services, EXCEPT calendar, address book and photo stream;
    5. create a new [email protected] for FAMILY SHARED iCloud services: calendar, address book and photo stream;
    You should continue to your iTunes Store ID as you have done before, logging into iCloud sync services won't change this.
    You can do all that you suggest however you can only log into one iCloud account at a time and your suggestion would require you to keep logging in and out of accounts which would all be rather clumsy.

  • Need Advice on Backup strategy

    Hi,
    Database version:10.2.0.
    Database Size:60GB.
    Daily Updation Approximately :2GB.
    I need some advice on my backup strategy.
    My backup startegy:
    Monthly Once, Date: 1 Full backup (Incremental level 0).
    Daily Incremental level 2 backup from Date: 2 to 6.
    Weekly Once Incremental leve 1 backup on Date:7.
    Daily Incremental level 2 backup from Date:8 to 13.
    Weekly Incremental level 1 backup on Date:14.
    Daily Incremental level 2 backup from Date:15 to 21.
    Weekly Incremental level 1 backup on Date:22.
    Daily Incremental level 2 backup from Date:23 to 28.
    Weekly Incremental level 1 backup on Date:29.
    My system requirments are i have only 70GB disk to store the backups, i can store only the full backup in it.So what i am doing is, Am storing the full backup in my disk and am transfering the Incrmental level 1(weekly Once backup) to the Tape and deleting the Daily level 2 backups, after taking that weekly backup.
    Is my strategy correct or should i do anything different plz give me some advice.
    TIA,

    This backup strategy doesn't look bad. However the 70G of free space will be a pain in the neck. I suggest you to increase storage. Have you considered archivelog too? This average 2G daily transaction rate will increase storage requirements, sooner or later, so backup storage requirements.

  • Recovery Strategy - Need Some Information - Critical

    Hello all,
    I need help from you all to understand the following scenario:
    1.We have a Production database which is running in ARCHIEVELOG mode.
    2.This database is supported with FAILOVER Machenism.
    3.The backup strategy is as follows
    3.1 Sunday Level 0
    3.2 Monday,
    3.3 Tuesday Level 2
    3.3 Wednesday Level 1
    3.4 Thursday Level 2
    3.5 Friday Level 1
    3.6. Saturday Level 2
    Now follows my question:
    1. If I need to delete some of the old Archieve files, Can I delete them?
    2. If I can delete them, up to which date can I delete them?
    3. Consider on Sunday the date is 16, and my db is crashed on 20 i.e on Thursday and I have deleted the archieve files till 15 i.e. on Saturday. In this situation can I recover the database completely?
    If you need any clarification, please revert.
    This is very critical issue for me.
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Himanshu

    Hi again Himanshu,
    In fact you don't even need to restore the archived redo logs if you backup them!
    For example in your backup scripts you can includeBACKUP ARCHIVE LOG ALL DELETE INPUT;This will include the in your backup sets, so they'll be targets for your backup retention policy.
    Then, if it crashes on monday, you just RESTORE UNTIL "sunday";
    RECOVER UNTIL "monday sometime";RMAN will find the necessary backupsets, including those for the archived redo logs and do it for you.
    Or you can RESTORE ARCHIVE LOG also. Refer to RMAN guide for syntax.
    HTH,
    Yoann.

    "sunday" and "monday sometime"are not RMAN keywords! (just to get it straight :) )

  • Need to activate release strategy for PR from PS(a/c assignment N)

    Dear experts,
    I need to establish release strategy in PR raised from Project System. PR account assignment in 'N'= network. PR will be differentiated PR value wise . Please help in this regards,
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,

    Hi
    You already have account assignment category (KNTTP) in communication structure CEBAN. You can use it to define your release strategy. If you wan to use field which is not there in CEBAN then you need to append CEBAN with the help of apaper.
    Use this link as an example for release procedure and create your own with KNTTP.

  • Customize AGDLP strategy for specific needs

    Hi all, hoping I could get some input how to stick to the best practice AGDLP nesting strategy while meeting the specific needs of my users/departments.
    I have a network share for our Marketing department. Following AGDLP, I have put my Marketing users in a Global group called G_Marketing, I then put that group in a Domain Local group called DL_MRKShareModify, and I have assigned the appropriate share/NTFS
    permissions to the DL_MRKShareModify group on the actual shared folder. This works perfectly if ALL of my Marketing users should have access to the share, but in reality, only a select few Marketing users should have access to the share.
    What is the best way to set this up while also sticking to the AGDLP best practice?

    I understand it's most useful in multi-domain environments but I still want to use AGDLP as it scales well in case we were ever to deploy more domains in the forest. This was actually recommended in the link posted above.
    Knowing that I want to still use AGDLP, can anyone give me examples of how to best set up group nesting for the example I gave in the original post? I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Well put them (the user objects) directly into "DL_MRKShareModify" then?
    Keep in mind that AGDLP comes with the disadvantages of potential token bloat where users are members of to many groups and will face issues with authentication, Kerberos and group policies etc. I would never choose AFDLP in a single-domain forest just
    because it _eventually_ would become a multi-domain forest, in it's turn the cases for justifying a multi-domain forest is really rare except politics and lack of knowledge.

  • Someone take my VISA!!! Sun JES strategy and SMB ==   need support.

    Hello --
    I'm a VERY small company -- seven seats -- looking to license JES Communications Suite. Big thing: need official Sun support because components of JES 2005Q4 REQUIRE (!!!!!) tech support -only patches in order to operate with stability (reference: UWC threads in Messaging forum -- patches are required to product to work in production).
    I spoke with Sun inside sales: guess use-license is FREE as part of promotion, but support is an entirely different matter (100 seat min).
    Sun JES message: you can't get any Sun support on software unless you spend $5,000 (ie. 100 seat min -- JES Comm Suite with Standard suppot -- $50/head).
    Surely, someone @ Sun marketing & product mgmt has head up darkness by essentially pushing SMB customer to "dark side" of Microsoft. A ten user company is not going to spend $5,000 year on email system.... period (not including hardware and datacenter).
    Summary from Sun:
    "We'll give you the software for FREE -- but in order to run the software in production, you'll need to buy support for min of $5,000/year to get required patches."
    This strategy stinks. -GA
    ============ Info from inside sales.
    So, let me throw out some numbers:
    JES the entire package with support per year (minimum 100 employees)
    Standard support: $140 per employee
    Premium support: $150 per employee
    Java Communication Suite only with support per year (minimum 100 employees)
    Standard support: $50 per employee
    Premium support: $60 per employee
    There is no way to purchase support for under 100 employees, per the terms of the promotion for JES:
    **Customers who wish to purchase support can purchase a commercial license for the Java Enterprise System, which includes technical support, updates and maintenance. Minimum number of units (employees) licensed is 100 under the commercial license terms. (pricing per above)

    In addition to the subscription options, Sun also provides perpetual licenses for each individual component product. This might better meet your needs since you are using this for a very small deployment. If you expect your org to grow in size you could upgrade to a subscription model at a later date and take advantage of the unlimited RTU. Please contact Sun Sales to explore this option as well.

  • Need help on Sales Order Strategy Group 20.

    Hi PP Gurus,
    Could anybody please help me out of this problem?
    Strategy group 20 is for purely MTO scenario. I know the execution part including most of the possibilities in PP module but I'm not that much aware regarding Costing part for it. Could anybody please focus somewhat on costing part required for it like
    1. Sales order costing only required or Periodic or Order based costing also solve the purpose in general?
    2. What will be the impact if we go for Sales Order Costing?
    Since we are using here REM environment.
    Please come with prompt comments.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abu Arbab

    Hi,
    Since your scenario is MTO, so sale order costing is the most suitable one. It is better to run the sale order costing for each & every sale order. It is similar like the standard cost estimation and EK02 condition type will bring the value in sale order pricing. This condition type you need to define in the requirement class.

  • RMAN Backup Strategy Comment Needed

    Hi,
    Currently I'm trying to implement a backup strategy with RMAN.
    Scenario: My side we're 5 days operational (Monday to Friday). I'm planning my backup as follow:
    Mon – Incremental level 1 differential
    Tue – Incremental level 1 differential
    Wed – Incremental level 1 cumulative
    Thurs – Incremental level 1 differential
    Fri – Incremental level 0 (aka full database backup)
    I planned Mon,Tues and Thurs as an incremental differential, while Wed as an incremental cumulative. With Wed as a cumulative backup, my thinking is that if my db is to fail on Thurs/Fri, my recovery will need to apply fewer backups but at the expense of storage.
    Any comment or view about the strategy will be greatly appreciated.
