Need to convert a string to boolean

i have string true, false, i need to convert them to boolean, is it good to use String.equals(true/false) or is it good to use Boolean.valueOf(true/false)

JOptionPane has no method showConfirmDialog that receives a String and an int (exactly what the error message is telling you).
What was wrong with the version I showed you?

Converting a string of numbers into an array of booleans

For a homework assignment, I need to convert a string of numbers into an array of booleans. The string is a bunch of random numbers (0-9) in sequence, with no spaces. It looks something like this: 0123452348949230740329817438120947392147809231419. I need to make it so that each even number represents a "True" boolean and so that each odd number represents a "False" boolean. I think that I first need to convert each element of the string into a number, and then use a case structure (or something) to say, for each element of the array, "If even, then true. If odd, then false," but I could be wrong. Any suggestions?

To be fair it sounds like there is more work that is needed. A new user of LabVIEW will have a hard time figuring out how to process each character one at a time when it isn't in an array.
It's just that most people (me at least) stopped thinking about division with quotient and remainder after basic algebra. I then of course changed my way of thinking when I used LabVIEW. Still most of the time when you use division you want to know the fractional part as a decimal. Thinking this way makes the problem more difficult then it needs to be.

Converting a string into Date format

I am currently using a JSP.
I currently need to convert a string that holds a date in "dd/mm/yyyy" format to the jva.sql.Date format.
Any ideas as to what the proper way of doing this is?

How to convert a string-xml placed inside an xml tag to xml format.

I have a invoke activity to invoke Web service(code snippet from bpel) .The text in bold is a string that gets formed based on some condition using concat inside while loop .Before calling the WS i need to convert this string into xml

How do I convert a string to a double, a number loses the precision

I tried converting a string to a double but that limits the precision. I need to convert a string to a double.

If you use the Scan From String function, the default is to convert to a dbl. If you're looking at a front panel indicator, don't confuse the format and precision of the indicator with the type representation. You can set the indicator to display as many digits as you want but that doesn't change the actal number stored in memory.

I need to convert A String to a Double in my application.
Usually I use the Double.parseDouble(String) method that works fine.
But I have found one line in the code that use the Double class constructor: new Double(String). It has been observed that that constructor sometimes throws NullPointerException.
My question is, are theses two methods both good practices to do the convertion? Could threre be a multi-threading problem with the Double construtor?
I'm using JDK 1.3.1.
Here is a sample of stack trace:

Need to convert string data to numbers.

I have string data that I need to convert to numbers so that I can graph it or perform calculations on it. The data (file attached) is in three columns (tab separated) and is in the format time/double/time (saved as a string with Write haracters to File.) When I try Read From Spreadsheet I get 0.0000 for column 1 and 2.0000 for column 3.

(String)longNumber = some function that returns a long;

Why not just use Long.toString()? If you start with a long value, you can create a Long object and get it's value as a String.
