Need to make cool rollover buttons

Hello all,
This is for a commercial website I'm working on and I hit a snag with.
Here's what I'm trying to do: On the site header, there are topics such as, "Apartments" and the like. What the client wants is to be able to have the viewer rollover the word, "Apartments" and have two options appear over the word. Something like, "One Bed Room" and "Two Bed Room". The visitor could then mouse up and click the option they want to see, navigating the site to that page. Oh, and they want the all the words to change color as well, like in a normal rollover link.
Any thoughts? I know how to make buttons that change when you rollover them, but getting text to appear and then to have two separate links to pick from has me stymied. Thanks!

Hmmm. That could work!
if you are into post editing, iweb (out the box) has no facilities to add HTML, CSS nor javascript directly onto the page. so most people post edit.
and if you think of html snippet widget, forget it because iweb html snippet widget only adds stuff to a markup page and shows it thru an iframe element...
you have to make a very big area for the snippet - if the drop down is very long; then you will have to get the links to open in the same window... on and on...
that said, you can build your own widgets (iweb3) to overcome the above problems only (if only) you know iweb, HTML, DOM, CSS and javascript... here is example built with my 3 widgets:

You can duplicate any form field to all the pages you like... to all pages or just some pages.... Forms>Edit Fields>Duplicate

Help with trying to make a rollover button

I'm trying to make a roll over button using this tutorial

and it doesn't seem to do what the tutorial says it will do 2-3 steps in.
The part where it says...

Mine does not create a gradient that looks like the image they have presented.
I just have the entire wood look, and then the outline of my button is just a little darker. I don't get the white background with the gradient applied to it in the button space.
Would someone mind following the steps at this link and letting me know if it is missing something? It only took me 2 minutes to get to this point before I couldn't figure out why it wasn't doing what it was supposed to.

When you create the button look in the upper left hand corner of the screen and see what type of object you are creating. Placing the mouse of the the three buttons will give you a tool tip of what they are.
The one you want is the one on the right as it will create a pixel based rectangle. Make sure you put this rectangle on its own layer, then you can move it or delete it if necessary. Lock the transparency7 button at the top of the layers panel. The will make sure when you create the gradient it will put it inside the button you made and not outside of it.
If you are seeing just a border I am thinking the middle button in the top tool bar is selected which creates a path. It is possible to fill that path and then create the gradient but you have to make sure that the lock transparency is not checked. Open the paths panel and at the bottom of the panel is a fill button. This creates a pixel based object which you can then create a transparency using the steps above.

Let me know what you think I should do. Keep the buttons i have or ditch it all together and use your code. What was nice about this is the images are already there for me and I just have to alter a few things to get what I want.

Rollover Buttons: How to add an indicator to my buttons?

Hello again-
I'm using the button widget to make a rollover button, but I would like to add a little colored square to my button to show the reader what page he's on. In other words, if he's on the home page, and he clicks the Contact Page link, when the Contact page loads, I want the Contact Page button in the menu to display a little colored square. Know what I mean? How do I do this?

Why do you use an input text if the use can't enter text in it?
If the width of the input text is fixed, you can write a bean method which returns width-3 chars from the text and add '...' and use an EL to shoe it in the ui.
Or you add an output text behind the input text showing '...' when the length of the text is bigger then the width of the input field. Put an EL on the visible property of the output text to only sore it then.

How to make a back button using AS3

I'm trying to do my first project using ActionScript in CS4. I need to make a back button that will take the user back to the last "slide" they were on.
I went through the effort of creating a back button that I only realized didn't work after I was finished. I had it set up to just go to the previous slide and totally ignored the fact that there are several branching scenarios.

I'm more or less having to teach myself at this point. Where should I go to learn about using an array?

Make animated rollover in Flash for Muse buttons

Hello.
I am new to Adobe Muse, but more familliar with Flash. I am also new to HTML.
I am wondering if it is possible to make a rollover animation in Flash to play as a rollover animation for buttons in Muse. I would like it so that when the mouse curser hovers over the button, it plays a simple animation of appering and dissapering stars over the text. I have heard of Adobe Edge, but I am not really familiar with it, so if there is any specific setup for a Flash rollover animation e.g. HTML5 Canvas or whatever, please let me know. Also, I am wondering if a HTML5 canvas Flash animation will play on phones and tablets, or if anything made with Flash using whatever setup, will even work on phones and tablets.

You may need to create the fully function button with all states and mouse interactivity in Flash itself and then place it in Muse and apply a link to it.
Since buttons with states in Muse use background fills which can only be certain image types like PNG, JPG, etc. Since you can't apply a SWF as a CSS background fill, it won't be possible to use it for one of the states of the button.

Rollover Button + Drop-down menu = I need HELP!

I'm fairly new to this whole Flash thing, but i seem to be
doing really well so far. I have created a website that is in
functional, working order - all of my buttons, actions, links, etc.
are working, (which i'm quite proud of), but i'm now at a loss. I'm
trying to create a rollover button/dropdown menu effect for two of
my galleries, and although i've successfully created the pop-up
effect of the menu by utilizing the "Over" and "Down" states inside
of the button itself, when i render out the file and test it, the
drop-down text flickers. Placing the mouse over the original
button, everything seems to work fine, but as soon as i move the
pointer down over the pop-up/drop-down text, it flickers! i've
tried creating this is separate layers, i've tried increasing my
Hit state, i've even tried a stop action, but nothing works, and
i'm out of ideas. Help!?

If you are hoping to make linkable buttons for the drop down
portions, then they need to be separate buttons. If they are
internal to the main button, then they are the main button and will
only link where it links (if they don't totally throw it out of
whack--I forget what one of my client's doing that resulted in, but
the bottom line is... buttons inside buttons are bad news.).
My suggestion: Google "AS2 drop down menu tutorials" and see
what you can find. Googling is a great resource for finding things.
There will likely be a number to choose from, so read thru them and
see which ones match what you're trying to create and are easy to
follow (some may not explain things well... everybody and their
uncles apparently want to try to teach the world what they know,
regardless of their ability to explain things (or lack thereof)).
Some, if not many, will provide source files you can build
from.

How to make edges of rollover button straight

I was using rollover pjc in my forms....
I am setting these properties of the buttons...
--> setting the 'label' property to [ROLLOVER]add
--> setting 'implementation class' property to
'oracle.forms.demos.enhancedItems.RolloverButton'
My rollover buttons are dislayed with rounded edges....
I want to make the edges of my rollover buttons
straight(like sqaure edges). please let me know how do i do that.

Judging by the source code of RolloverButton.java, it looks like that demo will always use rounded buttons.
If you want normal shaped buttons, then you should modify RolloverButton.java or create your own Java class based on it and change it. The change should be to not use setLeftmost(true) and setRightmost(true). By setting them to true you are telling the button to treat the button as if it's the leftmost or rightmost button, which will round that end (or both).

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing. After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

Wow, you just said the same thing. First, when you say "Forms 2.1" do you mean "Developer 2.1", which included Forms 5.0? Regardless, are you aware that these Forms versions are about 15 or more years old?
What you are trying to do is still unclear. Are you trying to output records to a text file formated to csv? If you need assistance, please provide some clarification as to what you are trying to accomplish.

Rollover buttons that play a movie clip.

   I am new to Flash and I am trying to accomplish a simulation such as this example, http://www.its-about-time.com/investinesart/coalplantvirtualtour.swf. I have all of my movie clips done, but how do I tell a rollover button to play a specific movie clip? I also want to have all the movie clips to play simultaneously via a rollover button as shown in the example. I've attached a captured image of my timeline, if that helps. I've tried everything so far, but nothing is working! What is the simplest way of doing this?
I have this inside one of the movie clips (mc_2) in a seperate layer under - (actions)
RO_btn.onRollover = function(){
mc_2.play();
On the main timeline I have an actions layer with this:
stop();
Thinking that this may stop all of my movie clips but it doesn't.
Should I make an actions layer in each movie clip with this syntax huh? stop();?

I have made something that you are looking for.
It will be of help to you.
basically you will have to create a few movie clips namely:
2 buttons: (name them a_btn, b_btn, c_btn, d_btn, e_btn)
3 movie clips (I am taking example image1_mc, image2_mc, image3_mc)
in each of these movieclips.place 2 frames and on second frame put your movieclip(one in one).on both the frames put stop()
now click on a_btn and write this script
on (rollOver) {
_root.image1_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
_root.image2_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
_root.image3_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
on (rollOut) {
    _root.image1_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
    _root.image2_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
    _root.image3_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
with this all 3 animations will work simultaneously. if you need to run any one of the movieclips at a time the you can address that mc in particular
.Say if you want only 1 mc to move at a time then put this on btn 2
on (rollOver) {
_root.image1_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
on (rollOut) {
    _root.image1_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
.Dont forget to give proper instance names to movieclips.(they are in properties panel.)

Yup, I have, but it is a right chore...and you need "iWeb Enhancer, which you can download here:

(you can get a few free runs out of it before you have to pay)
Here is how to do it - this assumes that you know the relevant Java Script coding to enable the roll over.
1) Create your rollover and slices in P/Shop & Image Ready. Export the buttons as slices.
2) In iWeb, drag / use Insert Menu > Choose... and place your "up" i.e mouse-off button in the position that you want it to be. Repeat for all buttons. Ensure that you "send to front" the rollover images.
3) Add the hyperlink in the Inspector pane if you want one.
4) Get you roll over Java script ready in an external HTML editor. Make sure you use the same image names as the files that you added into iWeb.
5) In iWeb, on the page where you have the roll over, add a rounded box - size is not important. Make sure this has no colour fill and no border. Double click in this box and before you do anything else, type this, exactly as it appears here:

After that, cut and paste your roll over java script into the box (the script that would normally sit in the header of an html page.) Include all the beginning and end script tags.
Then send this box to the back.
6) Save and then choose "Export to Folder".
7) Once exported, run iWeb Enhancer and select relevant folder.
8) Once iWeb enhancer is finished, find the P/Shop image that is the "on" or mouse over image of your rollover. Place this in the "Images" folder within the folder that contains your published iWeb site.
9) Now open the html file of the page with the roll over. You will see a section beginning like this:

After this you will find you Java script roll over code. Check that the details of the on and off images are correct in terms of exact name, file type and src. Ensure that the image src, links back to your "Images" file (this is where iWeb will have stored your "off rollover image and you places your "on" rollover images. Adding audio to rollover buttons

I'm having a bit of trouble doing this as I see videos to do this using pre Edge 2014 1.1 before the new function panel and then when I look at the 5.0 function panel I cannot get this right.
I'm able to get the sound to work only once then if I rollover after the first time it plays backwards
I just need to have audio play on a mouseover and I have 3 types of files, mp3, ogg and .wav
I do not see any mention of .wav files do I disregard that file?
So far I import ALL THREE OF THESE to the audio folder
once they are in they reside in a symbol with audio notes on it.
I have the mouseover action for the rollover already so I need to go from there.
ADD ACTION GO TO MOUSEOVER AND SELECT AUDIO.
I NEED THE REST, ANYONE?

Thanks for your answer but I need a bit more info.
I have six rollover buttons each should be assigned a different audio sound.
Each rollover is a symbol on the main timeline, so when I import the audio for lets say rollover_1 do I open the rollover one symbol and drag the audio on THAT timeline?
Or do I have to do this on the main timeline?
In the symbol timeline there is two lables (up and over)
the audio would need to play on the over state which is why I figure if I need to put the audio on the symbol timeline it would make sense.
Lets say this is true so on the symbol timeline the over state is exactly at 0.01
so would I use the following?

sym.$("rollover_1")[0.01].play(); ???????
THEN add the code you gave me?
sym.$("rollover_1")[0].currentTime = 0; ????????
sym.$("rollover_1")[0].play(); ???
If I'm inside the symbol timeline where is the current time and play times?
OR do I place the codes on the maintimeline?

A problem with rollover button

i have a problem with rollover button in the menus when i upload my site to the hosting server. When i preview in browser with Dreamweaver before upload , there are no problems.

You have not uploaded the images on the server which is why rollover is not working. When we put the url - http://modano.1gb.bg/button4a.gif in browser it takes the user to the home page of the hosting company. I think you need to check to make sure that the images are uploaded properly.
