Need to store sensitive data in a table, need to encrypt or data masking
Hello,
I have a table that contains a column of sensitive data. Which is a good method to encrypt this column? How about data masking the column? Other methods? Thank you in advance.
Will need to share with us who is supposed to see and not supposed to see the data and under what circumstances.
There are a number of ways to restrict access: via view/roles/privileges, encryption (DBMS_CRYPTO), or TDE if you want to buy the Advanced Security extra-cost option for Enterprise Edition.

For our purposes here:
Table 1 = "Step 2 - Product Sizes"
Table 2 = "Option id Master"
Table 3 = "Export - Product Info"

The user would enter values for "productcode," "Horz," and "Vert"
"Size" would auto fill based on values in Horiz and Vert (I have this taken care of already).
Table 2: This is a completely static table that I want to search against. - Data from other tables in the doc does not alter or change the data in this doc.
We just want to look at table 2. Find the existing value in "table 2 : size" column that matches the "table 1 : size" column and then pull the "optionids" and "productprice" from that row.
Can the value from "Table 1 : Size" be used as a search term in "Table 2 : Size?"
Table 3: The user does not enter any values on this table.
"productcode" is pulled from table 1 - "Table 1 :: A5" = "Table 3 :: A5"
"optionids" and "productprice" are pulled from Table 2 columns "D" and "E" - however we do not know which Table 2 row it is pulling from until we enter data in Table 1.
As I'm writing this I'm realizing that
A. this is probably really confusing to you.
B. this may be impossible inside of numbers.
If you have some other method that would facilitate the same out come but be structured differently please let me know.

I record the size of a piece of art.
Then I manually go to my "Option id Master" and find the same size.
I then copy the corresponding "optionids" and "productprice" cells. (these options control the prices displayed on my website)
I got to my "Export - Product Info" table and paste the values in the corresponding cells.
I was hoping to automate this as it takes a long time when you have hundreds of products.

Line Chart - getting data from two table to behave as 1 data series
I'm using the 'Personal Budget' template, and have two tables titled 'Annual Budget by Month: 2009' and 'Annual Budget by Month: 2010'. These tables show, as their last row, my total savings. I want to set up a line chart to display the (downward) trajectory of my savings in one continuous line.
However, if I create a line chart, the two data sets from the two tables are displayed as two lines, one below the other. If I convert it to a column chart, and then switch to columns instead of rows as the Plotting Orientation (data series button in the upper left of the table), the columns do display correctly. Can anyone tell me how I can get the line version to work?spiff,
I think the solution to your problem is to create a summary table that gathers the data from all your month tables, then plot the summary. Remember to put the category names into a Header row or column so they will automatically show up on the chart axes.

But I want to retrieve the ztable data in the order in which i enter data in to table.

Thanks in advance.You will need to change your table to use a number as the first key field (after the client) which you increase by 1 each time you make a new entry. Alternatively you can add a data/time stamp to the end of your table and use this to sort your internal table once you've extracted the records.

Not much to go on, but this table can hold an infinite tree. Work from that.
SQL> create table tree (node number(15) not null, parent_node number(15))

SQL> alter table tree add constraint tree_pk primary key (node)

BalajiYou really don't enter identical data into 2 tables. You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).

Think about it this way... What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change. WHOOPS!! Now, you've got a BIG problem. For instance, you have a customer

the myhisab table.Your problem isn't in the Java code, it's your SQL code...
Your statement, as submitted, is an improperly formed multi-table select, where you never joined the second table. That won't work.
You need to look into the INSERT INTO statement. The exact syntax of your statement will depend on whether or not both tables contain the exact same column names, etc. A generic example based on what you have might look like:

Need some help with PL/SQL code, I need to write a code which will get data from 3 tables all with the latest date.
For a particular ACT_CODE the output of the SQL query should show data having the latest dates from 3 tables, if there is no
date in the table, it should show the remaining data (think left join will do the trick here)
Table Names:
Institution_UPDT aiu
ASQ_CONTACT ac
GR_AUTHORIZE gr
All 3 tables have ACT_Code as common
Column Names

In all places where I said "SELECT *" above, you may want to list the individual columns you want.
If you do that in the sub-queries, then you don't have to qualify the names with the table name: that's only required when saying "SELECT *" with another column (r_num, in this case).
It's more likely that you won't want to say "SELECT *" in the main query. The three r_num columns, while essential to the query, are completely useless to your readers, and you might prefer to have just one act_code column, since it will be the same for all tables that have it. But since it may be NULL in any of the tables, you'll have to SELECT it like this:

) AS act_codeThe query above will actually work for multiple act_codes. You can change the condidition to something like

URGENT - How to change data in a table
I have created the basic table to display some data. But how do I change some of the data in the table. I generate the data within my program and then need to display the new table data in the same original table.
So far I am just testing with the example codes from the sun website. How would I change the name Mary to say Kate? Do I have to implement an abstract table model? Can I just change the value in the array or something?

i have to select data from a database table into internal table but i want that it shud be selected as it is means i have a char 30 field which may have CAPS and small values in table but in the internal table it comes as all CAPS but it shud come as it is e.g "Data" shud come as "Data" in internal table but it comes as "DATA".
Just check the Domain of the concerned field. There will be a characteristic check box called "lower case" in the Definition tab of your domain. See if that is Flagged. If that is flagged, then the stored record will be case sensitive. In best practice, you should not have that flagged, So that the records will not be case sensitive and you will not have to face a similar situation.

Putting different tables with large amounts of data together
Hi,
I need to put different kinds of tables together:
Example 'table1' with columns: DATE, IP, TYPEN, X1, X2, X3
To 'table0' with columns DATE, IP, TYPENUMBER.
TYPEN in table1 needs to be inserted into TYPENUMBER in table0, but through a function which transforms it to some other value.
There are several other tables like 'table1', but with slighty different columns, that needs to be inserted into the same table ('table0').
The amount of data in each table is quite huge, so the procedure should be done in small pieces and efficiently.
Should/Could I use data pump for this?

Please suggest which would be the best method to upload the data into table. Data is employee ticket history which is of huge data.
How to do the mass upload of data into oracle table need experts suggestion on this requirement.

SudhirOne method is to use SQL Loader (sqlldr)
Another method is to define an external table in Oracle which is allowing you to view your big file as a table in database.

GyanYou need to create two schemas: One for deleting all rows and one for inserting.
Then combine these Schemas into one and use the "CompositeOperation" SOAP Action Header.
Something like the below (a SQL Example, so the Schemas needs to be replaced by WCF-Oracle syntax)
