Network - network monitoring and tracking

hi all, i'm newbie on networking field in labview, before this, i had done a project about DAQ, and i found out labview is a quite interesting programming langauge than others, so i wish to explore more about labview's abilities.
All i want to ask is about can labview monitoring packages throught our pc?
another question is about do labview having the function of tracking the packages through our network adapter and find out the sender?
if the both answers are yes, where i'm going to start about this? or any places having some teaching sources for me?

LabVIEW itself does not have the functions for sniffing other apps' packets, but you can try something like calling WinPCAP.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here, here, here, here and here are a few you can start with and here are some tutorial videos. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

Network Monitor and WebServices

Hi all,
my project uses a WebService by means of classes generated by the introspection service in Flash Builder 4. The service is located in a external server, and functions correctly when debugging locally my project, but only if Network Monitor is disabled. In case Network Monitor is enabled, I get a fault event with faultString "HTTP request error". If I reload the swf, it appears a message about a bad formed html. The activity is the following call
http://localhost:37813/path-to-my-service?WSDL?hostport=myExternalServer:8080&https=N&id=x x
so I assume that Network Monitor uses a kind of proxy to monitor traffic. It seems to me that for a reason I don't know the soap service get confused with this address because it sees a html page instead of a xml document containg the wsdl.
Interestingly, the same project but using the classes generated by the introspection service in Flex Builder 3 works correctly with the Network Monitor enabled.
Do you have any ideas about what I am doing wrong?

I am in Flex web application running on Mac Safari 3.2.3 (5525.28.3) using WebKit r44341 on OsX 10.5.7, but the problem also appears with Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; es-ES; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021906 Firefox/3.0.7), with the message "SOAP Response cannot be decoded.".
In both Firefox and Safari the response header from server has "Transfer-Encoding: chunked".

Spiceworks Network Monitor Foibles

Hello team, I have
some questions and concerns about the network monitor. My up time has been
about 65% since installing the monitor to a standalone, sufficiently powered
system. After an extended period of monitoring it will cease loading and
auto-refreshing the page. Also, when I conduct server reboots, the monitor will
not refresh when the server comes back up (I verify the connectivity from the
standalone system itself as well as remote into the server/run a ping -t to
track its' status). Thirdly, I have not been able to add any SNMP devices: wifi
APs, switches, routers, temperature monitors, and my UPS all return failures
when using the correct credentials to connect. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I guess the first question would be, what do you WANT to see from these monitors? Is there specific information you want to get from them?

I am a novice who is responsible for a small network in a library. I need to learn more about network monitoring. I have installed the Spiceworks Network Monitor, and I have been a exploring a little bit with MRTG. My particular issue is that I do not know how to interpret the information from the monitors. I have been searching for resources to help me with this and network monitoring in general, but I haven't been able to find much. Can anyone recommend where I might be able to find some help.

Activity Monitor and Network Usage??

I'd like to get an idea of my network usage per month prior to signing up for a service plan, and I notice that the Network tab of Activity Monitor will track Data received. When or how does the number shown there get reset to zero? What would be the best way to track the network usage over a period of a week or so?

I believe the number is from your last login, but it shouldn't be too hard to test whether that is the starting point or the last restart.
Neither will help you track network usage over a specific period. For that, you will have to hunt down a utility on macupdate.com or versiontracker.com. I'm pretty sure I've seen some go by. You might search using terms like "ISP", "bandwidth", "network", and "meter".

So I Uninstall and reinstall Kaspersky, so now I have problem with reinstall that doesn't work, then way later that day it is reinstalled..not over yet..that virtual keyboard now pops up randomly wanting me to use password? seems like they can copy anything real fast for i have to enter info like 2 or 3 times, never had that problem before. I'm thinking about going old school with paper docs and checks..yes technology ***...too vulnerable. .on the news they said 97% of businesses are hacked! can someone help me to counter this attack? thx

You have not been hacked. Get rid of all that antivirus. It is just making your life harder.

Geektool and network monitoring

I've been using Geektool to display some stuff on my desktop. I have become stumped when it comes to one thing and that is network monitoring. I would like to monitor the network traffic in terms of kb and mb flowing in and out, and then summing it up.
This should be doable in either a perl script or a bash script. I will however confess that at the moment I have not gotten further than netstat -w 5 which isnt quite enough.
Would be grateful if someone could give me a helping hand in this matter.

netstat -ib will give you the in/out byte count for each interface. It should be easy to parse the data you want with perl.

Yes. I tried it. But whenever I restart m Mac, the watch folder doesn't work until I reconnect to network or run the Automator... I need a simple system that automatically connects to the network and monitor the folder, even I restart the Mac.

What is the difference between spiceworks and the network monitor

My wifi wasn't working for more than 10 minutes at a time after updating to IOS8 and resetting network settings. I turned off google drive, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings and rebooted my iPad4. So far so good.

I have an ipad4. Wifi keeps cutting out after the upgrade even after I forget the network and resign on or reset all network settings. I deleted iCloud drive from my iPad, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings, and rebooted my iPad. Since I upgraded to IOS8 this is the longest wifi has consistently been working for me. Which is approximately an hour now. Anyone else find that this worked or have figured out if this or anything out there is a permanent fix?

Error message when trying login to Network Monitor "oops something went wrong"

I am trying to get network monitor to work on my network. However, when installed I enter my credentials and get the error something went wrong. I am assuming we are blocking some traffic on the firewall or possibly even through a content filter. What I don't know is what url needs to be white-listed or which ports need to be opened for the application to work.
Firewall is off on the pc. I can authenticate when on a standard "outside link" But cannot when the same pc is on the LAN at work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit version).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

I received the email informing the availability of the new release of Network Monitor. After upgrading, the web console locks at below step:
The above issue persists whatever restarting the services or rebooting the computer hosting this service.
I also noticed that the size of this release is 682KB which is obviously small compare to old version:
Anyone else experiences the same issue?

XFCE network monitor applet

XFCE has this nice network monitor applet, in which you can set the colors of the incoming and outgoing bar. The only problem is that they don't seem to have any effect. Mine stay blue. I'm guessing the global color scheme is interfering somehow... Any solution for this problem?

Performance of Network Monitoring in SCOM 2012 SP1

Hi all!
I´ve problems with performance of the network monitoring feature in SCOM 2012 SP1.
According to the
guide the following should be adeqate:
•1000 network devices (approximately 12,500 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has three or more management servers
•500 network devices (approximately 6,250 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has two or more gateway servers
We have 800 network devices with a total of 24000 ports,
BUT only 1500 of them are monitored. This is basically what happens automatically after discovery, since only ports between monitored devices are monitored by default.
For this setup I first used only one management server dedicated to the Network Pool,
based on my assumption that if two servers could monitor 6250 ports, one server would be more than enough for 1500. I found this configuration working very poorly so I added another server. I now have two servers
dedicated for the Network Resource Pool. (They are NOT members of the “All management servers resource pool”)
Still, I get constant alerts regarding Health Services Private Bytes on these servers. They vary between 1-2Gbytes. Furthermore, if one of the servers goes offline, the network devices that was monitored by that server becomes grey for
several hours. Even if the server only is rebooted it takes forever to get everything online and green again.
I don´t really know what I should do now. I had a plan to replace our current network monitoring system (SNMPc) which easily handles this load on only one server. They are of course completely different beasts, but still. SCOM seems to
require a massive back-end to produce equivalent real life results.
Any suggestions or reflections from the field are highly appreciated!

Try to overide the monitor Health Services Private Bytes by the following steps.
◾Go Authoring space – Management Pack Objects – Monitors
◾Go to change scope – select clear all – look for Health Service – tick it and press OK.
◾Expand Health Service – expand Entity Health – expand Performance – expand Health Service Performance
◾Select the Health Health Service Private Bytes Threshold.
◾Right click the mouse and choose to overide the monitor for a group
◾Select the group called Management Server Computer Group and press OK
◾Select the Agent Performance Monitor Type – Threshold and change the value 104857600 to ex. 2610612736.
◾Select to store the overide in a management pack you have created and press OK

Network monitoring on application level

Hi all, is there an app that allows to monitor and log the network traffic on an iphone 4s (6.0.1) on the application level? Cheers, Kay

There is an app called "Airport Utility" in the App Store that allows you to manage the network. you have to have an Apple router or Apple Airport to manage the network. I don't think it monitors it though. From what you're saying, you want to monitor traffic. Airport Utility can let you know how many devices are on your network and how fast the network speed is for each device.
