Network Simulation Software

I hope that someone in this forum might be able to shed some light on this...
I looking for network simulation software in order to prepare for CCNA and CCDA exams. I know that Boson makes similar software for the PC, but I have not been able to find anything for my Mac.
Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I searched long and hard for the same thing about six months ago, and gave up once the Intel Macs came out. I ended up purchasing RouterSim as I could run it through Parallels on our Intel Macs. Sorry to say, but you're probably outa luck

  • Network simulator software

I'm looking for a good network simulator software to build a physical network virtually that also supports the commands used on the physical network. Thank you in advance.

James - GNS3 is very popular among networking community. A lot of people use it for certification studies or POC related testing. It has a little limitation it can't simulate switch ASICs (but has switch modules, which is pretty close)
Google GNS3 or GNS3 getting started you will get a lot of stuff on how to set it up and use.

    Hey everyone,
I just purchased the CCNA network  simulator but I can't log in when I run the program.  It's the CCNA  640-802 Network Simulator software 2nd edition. I have a cisco press  login and password which specifically says you need (see screenshot  attached for error).  I've tried contacting support but i get no  response.  I have turned off windows firewall and disabled my  antivirus.  Any suggestions?

I think the above error clearly says there is problem with internet connection while connecting with the pearson site while loading the software. check the internet connection while installing the software.
    Hope it Help !!

  • How can I communicate between two simulated software

    Hallo,
I have confusion regarding this topic "How can I communicate between two simulated software".
    1: PC with CAN simulation
    2:  PC with AFDX Simulation
Now i have to communicated these two pc with each other.
How can i communicated? which module from ni is best for it.
    thanks in advance
    BR

I recommend looking at the Simple Messaging Reference Library that NI has released.  Use the TCP/IP version of it.
FYI, TCP/IP is a communication protocol that is used to communicate between two computers.  It is what the internet uses.  So you just need a network switch or router between your computers and you can talk to each other with their IP address.

  • Problem with Java and APC Network Shutdown Software

I am having an issue with APC's Network shutdown software. On any Win2k Server I load the software on after logging off from the console I am unable to reconnect to the web interface for the APC Powerchute Network Shutdown software. If I stop and restart the Powerchute Network shutdown service it is fine again until I log back off.
I opened a support ticket with APC but they told me this is due to a bug with the underlying JAVA software and I had to get support from Sun for this issue. They referenced Sun Bug Number #4619811 but when I checked that bug out it did not have a solution.
Any thoughts, this only seems to be affecting Win2k Servers, Win2k3 Servers work just fine.

    Hi cptjim,
i have exactly the same problem on two totaly different Win2k3 machines.
APC told me to try the following (i havent tried so far, but will test and report on monday):
To find the APC Powerchute Network Shutdown Service in the registry, use the following path:
    HKey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/PowerchuteNetworkShutdown/Parameters/AppParameters
Open up the AppParameters folder, right click, go to Modify and Add -Xrs before the following entry:
    <space>-Xrs<space>-cp
    .\lib\m11.jar;.\lib\collections.jar;.\lib\jsdk.jar;.\comp\AAOL.jar;.\comp\CommandFileRunner.jar;.\comp\EventLogger.jar;.\comp\http.jar;.\comp\Notifier.jar;.\comp\Omaha.jar;.\comp\PowerSourceAggregator.jar;.\comp\PSAggregator.jar;.\comp\RunTimeVerifier.jar;.\comp\Shutdowner.jar;.\comp\StdPowerSource.jar;.\comp\ps\StdPowerSource.jar;.\comp\shutdownerlets\OSshutdownerlet.jar;

  • I need to install windows on my new Macbook pro for running my flight simulator software

    Hi!
I'm new to the Mac world and I need to install windows on my new Macbook pro for running my flight simulator software which only runs on windows. I would like to purchase and download the windows 8.1 rather than buying the CD.
When i go to the microsoft store and click windows 8.1 it says it is only for who has windows xp or vista...
can you tell me where and how can i purchase the full installation 8.1 for download?
i will keep the ISO file on my flash drive.
    Thanks!
    <Re-Titled By Host>

it's likely an upgrade you are looking for and not a full install of windows
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/get-the-iso-you-need-to-crea te-your-own-windows-81-dvd/
if you get it as an iso file then you need to burn the iso file to a optical disc to install it

  • I need free network analyzer software for my mac. we are trying to monitor what software may be running which is causing our internet to fail, although the internet is still coming into our modem.what is recommended?

My internet keeps 'tripping' at or around the same period time each day.  We have already replaced our modem from our internet provider and we bought a new airport extreme router. We do not believe these were the cause, although we have now ruled them out as a cause.  Everytime the internet fails, our internet provider company tells us that there is still plenty of signal coming into our house. There is something going on inside we believe, and a technician set up our Network Utility to run a continuous ping test to capture information about when it 'trips' againn.  Yesterday, it happened again, and when he checked the data out, he said he is sure there is something 'running in the background' on my IMac.  He advised me to download a free Network Analyzer so he could further investigate what is was that was causing the problem, so I need a free network analyzer software for my Mac. The issue has been going on for a long time, so it is not the new operating system, Lion. This morning, we changed the radio channel from 'auto' to 'manual' and set a new channel, hoping that might help. We are trying to find out what program may be running (even a tiny one in the background) which is causing our internet to fail, although the internet is still coming into our modem. What is free downloadable product is recommended?

Will Activity Monitor and/or Network Utility, both already in the Utilities folder on your Mac, help in trying to diagnose the problem.
If you are connecting via wifi what encryption are you using? If you're using the Exteme I doubt that you are using WEP, but worth checking as it seems Macs don't like it and work better using WPA.

I have been looking over the realease notes for each product trying to draw some conclusion on which titles support or dont support certain products.
Has anyone used these and can give a quick answer for when you would use each and if there are any gotchas or limits to watch out for?
It looks like Prime is a paid for product but will any of the free solutions (CNA, CCP, CCA) work with all enterprise level products (2950, 2960, 3560, 3750, 4948, 4900 4500 switches and 1800, 1900, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 routers) or do you have to use Prime to get a product that will mange these devices?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Simulation Software for Mac

Hi all, I need to know if Mac has a software that can be compared to Rockwell Arena Simulation or any other simulation software. I will also like to know if there is software such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Access. I am sure there are, but I´ve been looking and I haven´t been able to find them.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Microsoft Project has its closest counterpart in:
    http://www.conceptdraw.com/en/products/project/overview.php
Microsoft Access has both Filemaker Pro and Bento from Filemaker as good counterparts on the Mac platform. Furthermore, Filemaker has converters on the Windows side to it from Access. Check http://www.filemaker.com/ for the software.
You can run Windows on a Mac, if you must use those applications, using the variety of titles given on my FAQ*:

  • Please recommend network management software

    Hello!
I need help to find some network management software that will work with our switches. I'm running a network that has Cisco/Linksys managed switches:
    10xSLM2008,
    5xSRW208,
    2xSRW2008MP,
    1xSF 300-08
I was hoping there is management software (not the webview/web browser thing), that could do these things (in preferred order):
    - connect to these by SNMP (or similar) to show me a little statistics on each port on each switch, along with connectivity between these switches.
    - let me know which port knows which mac addresses, and maybe also the IP addresses of these.
    - let me know which mac addresses uses most bandwidth
    - ban a mac address
I'd be happy if anybody could give me an advice on what software to buy.
    Best regards,
    Lars E Fodnes

It can't ban a MAC address, but that is what dot1x/port security is for. I'm not sure if your switches support it, but you can look into that from the switch standpoint.

  • Merging different slides in Simulation Software project

Is there way of using the Timeline function to merge slides in Simulation Software project?

I was thinking of combining the slides because I observe when I publish a project, the transition from one slide to the next, is pretty evident and I was wondering whether by combining the slides, will it ensure a smoother transition.
If I'm doing something wrong, hope you can point it out and how I can rectify it.

  • Is there any free simulation software for  z/OS environment?

    HI! Gurus:
I want to warm up to be ready for z/OS.
At this moment I do not have z/OS yet.
Is there any free simulation software for z/OS on internet for trial?
    Thanks a lot!

There is a hardware simulator call "hercules" (http://www.hercules-390.org/) but it comes without z/OS (or any other OS). On top, IBM does not allow to run z/OS on the emulator but only on their hardware. On the the mailinglist, however, there were in the past a few people able to technically make OS/390 or z/OS to run. Some time ago I played with this emulator and installed z-Linux (31-bit).
z/OS is VERY different to everything you may have seen before, it requires a huge amount of special knowledge.
You may get an idea about the architecture by installing an (ancient - but likewise) system:

  • Lookin for a NMS such as CiscoWorks network management software

    hi everybody
I 'm lookin' for CiscoWorks network management software or equivalent on support section on cisco website support.
I want it to configure snmp on my catalyst 2950 and get some results likes input and output traffic rate on my catalyst, all trafic generated by equipment connected on my catalyst with some detailes likes equipement ip, input and output trafic rate, graph and son on.
I don't find it on the cisco website so I think they'll have an equivalent on the website but I don't know.
If someone has an idea or a link...
    Thank you

    Hi Serge,
Are looking to obtain software that you can install and use, or are you looking for documentation for software you already have?
One type of network management software freely available is MRTG, it will produce graphs of network traffic, a very handy utility:
    http://www.mrtg.com/
Another freeware NMS, if I'm not mistaken, is Nagios:
    http://www.nagios.org/products/nagiospowered/
We do have some software available for device configuration also (depending on the device). Perhaps the Cisco Netowrk Assistant? You can navigate there from http://www.cisco.com . Choose Support, and under Otion 2, choose "Download Software". Then select "Netowrk Management", "Routing and Switching Management", and "Cisco Network Assistant". Follow the navigation, and you should be able to have a tool to help configure your devices.
    Cheers,
    Curtis
