"Network timed out."

So I have not been able to access the iTunes store for a couple of months now. Whenever I try to access it, the loading bar at the top of the screen just stop and mid-way and a box pops up like 20 minutes later sayin that the network timed out. Occasionally when I try a very, very basic iTunes pops up. It has all of the words taht would be in the regular home screen in blue letters, underlined.There are no pictures, and has blank boxes with questions marks in it. I can get no farther than this white screen. I have tried flushing the DSN, un/installing iTunes, turning off the firewall, EVERYTHING. And my internet connection is perfectly fine. I'm really frustrated and would like a step-by-step solution please...HELP!!!!!

Also, when I run a diagnostics, it says the secure link to iTunes store failed, and when I click the help button next to it, nothing ever pops up. When it does, the window says that iTunes help is currently unavailable and that I should try again later.

Disabling the computer's security software (firewall and antivirus) usually resolves that error.

For two days I've been trying to fix a problem: when I go to the Itunes store and buy tv shows (CSI, Battlestar Gallatica) I can buy them, start the download, but after a minute all of the downloads stall and I get the error message "network timed out" "error 3259"). However, I can download podcasts at lightning speed, and my connection is very high. the error message said there was a problem with the itunes store.
I deleted itunes several times, reinstalled, went through and deleted all the old files, reinstalled, and tried several times. Each time I get the same message
The itunes store says: "Hey, you bought this, but unsuccessfully downloaded it before. want to try again?"
and each time it fails.

I tried to see if the problem was with the itunes store - I bought a song and it downloaded in seconds. I then went to the tv shows section and tried to download a "free" tv show - and got the same message. So in this case, the error only seems to be with downloading tv shows.
I'm at my wit's end - don't know what to do.

Are you doing this over a wireless network. This happened a long time ago when we had DSL. I got sick of it and went to broadband thru our cable company.
If you are using wireles router, use a cable and connect your computer via the cable to the modem or wireless router if you have a location for the cable upon the wireless router. I think it is a cat 5 cable that connects the computer to your modem or wireless router. This way you Internet should not time out.
I hope this helps you. It is hard to identify the issue not knowing your Internet connect setup. Some modems and wireless routers have more Port options.

The router is in your house.
In a nutshell, a modem communicates with the Internet and brings a single communications link to your house, The router takes that single link and divides it up among many links, both wired and wireless, to support many devices in your house. The router and the modem may be separate physical boxes or, more commonly, they're in the same enclosure.
Unfortunately, if there is a firewall in the router, you will need help. I don't think that it's a good idea to try to walk you through it via the forum. You should contact the router supplier and have them walk you through the investigation.

u can make a new id and password by going to apple.com and clicking on the forgot id and forgot password button in login.
also u can go to a nearby apple store and tell them that u want a new apple id and password
maybe they'll even help u to retrieve ur old apple id and password

Upgrade to iOS 4.3.3 getting a message "network timed out".

I am running iOS 4.3.1 and trying to upgrade to iOS 4.3.3 and keep getting a message that says "network timed out". I had this same issue with upgrading to 4.3.1 but after disabling Firewall and anti-virsus software and moving to ethernet wired connection (not wireless) it worked. Not so with 4.3.3. I have tried at least 15 times at different times of the day/night. APPLE is there a fix?

Hi there, welcome to the site!
This is usually a cause of a slower internet connection, that is why ethernet probably helped, it is faster than Wi-Fi. I would firstly turn your router off for 5 mins, then back on again, and try initializing the update. If not, maybe try changing the channel the router is broadcasting on. This can usually be done after entering 192.168.0.1 into your browser bar. Refer to your router documentation for more help.

Iphone 4 won't restore-network timed out error?

I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 7.0.3 and when it said to connect it to itunes I did and got an error message saying my phone was in recovery mode and i needed to restore it..
I tried restoring it and when it was almost done downloading an error message popped up and said the network timed out.. It has done this more than 3 times now. I turned my firewall off. I'm not using wireless internet, the modem is connected straight to my laptop.. my itunes is up to date.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!!!

Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
