Networked HP 3485 Printer Options Missing

System
iMac - Power PC
OS 10.5.7 (recently upgraded)
HP Deskjet 3845 Printer (networked through other Powermac with 10.4)
Issue:
Now when trying to print to the networked HP 3845, the options for Quality, Color Management and various other items are missing. I have only generic choices. Quality does exist under the application Preview, but is none existent in QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator (where needed).
Using the latest HP drivers 1.1.1 and selected (reselected) the printer in Printers and Faxes. The utilities that came with the newer driver does not see the printer on the network at all.
Any suggestions????

Yes, both computers have the proper printer driver installed. It still will not show up.
As for the utility not seeing the printer. It used to when I was on Tiger. Ever since updating to Leopard, it does not show up through the utility.
The print driver included with OS 10.5 is version 3.3.1 as listed in Apple HT1370 and with OS 10.4 is version 2.7.1 as listed at HP Support. Consider triple checking that the print driver matches exactly to your printer model number.

  • Epson R1800 printer options missing when using AEBS wireless printing- WHY?

I have run into a very odd problem with my Epson R1800 printer. When I install the printer for directly connecting via USB or FireWire the version 6.12 print driver appears with all of the options. When I install the same printer when connected through my AirPort extreme base station the print driver is lacking most of the adjustment features.
Fire wire and USB contain the following menu items in the drop down print dialog"
Print Settings (with basic and advanced tabs)
    Roll Paper Option
    Expansion
    Extension Settings
The AEBS printer options only contains one printer specific selection called:
    Printer Features
which has a very limited selection of options, an no options which allow me to turn off color management.
    Some additional information
    - I installed this same printer driver on one laptop back in the days of 10.5.2 and I was able to install a AEBS printer which allows all of the options. On that same computer if I now install a new printer with the same driver those extra options are missing.
    - I just upgraded a second laptop to Leopard today and went straight to 10.5.3 and the wireless driver for this printer only contains the limited menu items.
    - I am certain that I am using the Epson drivers and not the Gutenprint drivers. Please do not suggest the Gutenprint drivers, they do not handle color management properly.

This is a real problem for this printer OS combination... I believe due to the crappy Epson driver. I searched the internet and found lots and lots of people having a similar problem. When I contacted Epson today they admitted there was a driver problem, but the tech told me they had no plans to improve the driver 'because the R1800 is a discontinued model'! How's that for support!
Anyway...several people have had fairly decent luck removing the printer and all Epson software then re-installing it. When the 'correct' driver is installed it will say something like "Epson R1800 (sp) 1". My problem is there is no way to profile this printer and have the driver work as it should for proofing and color management. I know that doesn't help much, but if you google "Epson R1800 problems with Leopard" you'll see what I mean.

  • Printer options missing

I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard but for some reason most of the options on the print screen are missing (e.g. paper handling, scheduler, etc.). I recently purchased a MacBook Pro with SL and it set itself up to work with the same printer (Canon MP780) OK. I don't get as many printing options on the MacBook as I did with Tiger on the iMac, but it offers the key ones. How do I sort out the iMac?

Also the printer/scanner won't scan any more - it says it can't find the driver.
Repair permissions and restart your computer. If the printer/scanner is still searching for its driver, go to the manufacturer website, download & install any & all of the updated drivers you find for your model printer/driver. You will need to repair permissions and restart your computer again after the installation.

  • Maintain printer option missing

Interesting problem here but guess it's not so unusual. Purchased a B9180 printer in the sales, but then moved house and never had chance to install it for a year. When I went to install it, I discovered there was no installation CD, but managed to find some software on the HP site. Printer was OK but I felt it could be better supported by using the pro print plug-in for Adobe Photoshop (Adobe Cloud account holder). However, it was not there in the menue where it should be. So I uninstalled the software and went to the HP site to reinstall. Software not available, directed to MAC and a software updates. That worked OK to the point that the printer is now working again and I see all the printer cartridge levels etc. However, I still do not see the Photoshop plug-in. When I go to the HP Device manager to find the "Maintain Printer" option which can apparently be used to activate the plug-in, I can't even find the option for Maintain Printer, let alone the actual option of activating the plug-in. Grrrrrr So what is missing and how do I update my device manager so it has the features of "Maintain Printer" and "Install Adobe plug-in"? Noted when I do go to ose this printer in Photoshop, it does give me the option to let Photoshop Manage the colours, but I assume the Adobe plug-in will do so much more and help me get better prints. Any guidance appreciated.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you're trying to get more settings for your HP Photosmart Pro B9180 Photo Printer. I'm happy to look into this for you.
Did you have an older version of the Mac Operating System installed and then upgrade to 10.10? I'm glad you were able to get the printer working, however, I'm not certain how you had the option maintain printer.  One thing that comes to mind, you might have been using a different software package/driver for this printer previously.  As you stated, HP does not Software for this printer on Mac OS 10.10.  The Apple Software Update provides the basic print driver only. I don't believe it includes the option to maintain the printer. As far as getting plugins to work with Adobe and Photoshop. I would suggest contacting them for assistance. Best of Luck!

  • Print options missing

I have not find anything about this topic, so hopefully there is only something wrong with my computer. When I want to print any documents, the option of printing a particular page is gone.
I can only print the whole document. Further the option to select how many copies I like to print is also missing. I can only print one document at the time. I am using HP 2210, HP2510 and HP 8750.

Thank you. Simple things makes you feel stupid sometimes. I recently started using reading-glasses.
Ha ha, I contribute it to that. Thanks again.

  • Adobe PDF Printer Options missing (OS X 10.5.4 & Acrobat 8.1.2)

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to 10.5.4 and my PDF options when printing to a PDF via Adobe PDF are no longer available (ie. selecting the PDF creation type). Is this yet another bug with OS X & Adobe?
    Regards,
    Kristin.

Yep, that fixed it. Repairing Acrobat Installation didn't work on its own though I had to manually remove the PPD from all the affected machines and then re-run the repair.

  • Epson 2200 printer options missing in Leopard

I've just spent almost an hour with Apple Support and they were not able to help with this issue, despite the fact that a quick Google search shows that I'm not the only person with this problem.
I'm using the most recent Epson drivers from the Epson website and although I can print, I cannot select any paper types, resolution, double sided printing, high-speed, etc. I've tried to reset the printer queue, I've deleted all the driver from my Library>Printer folder and reinstalled... NOTHING.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've done several searches and followed the various procedures others have recommended to no avail.

I have no trouble printing to my 2200 using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Preview.
What drivers are you using Epsons or Gutenprint? I am using the Epson one (ver 3.09)
You can find out the drivers by opening System Preferences -> Printers Select the Epson and then click on Open PRint Queue, click on the 'i' Info button in the print queue to see the version.
I think you need to use Epson's. I downloaded them from their site and installed them. I also downloaded there paper profiles and installed them.
Finding the "handle" to get to the things you want to set was, and to some degree, still is, a bit obscure to me being relatively new to the Mac (and loving it!)
Using Preview as an example open an image and: Select File -> Print
In the middle of the column of various Settings you will see Preview click on it and you see a bunch of choices like: Page Settings, Color management, Print Settings etc. Each of these changes the options ans let's you select paper size, paper type, print speed who manages color etc.
    In Photoshop CS3
You select some of the options in (Photoshop File -> Print and the rest after you hit Print which gets you the Mac OS X Print dialog. In this case "Layout" is in the middle box instead of "Preview" but clicking on it reveals the same option dialogs.
There is a similar thread [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1669867] for the moment I'm working with him directly as we're into some nitty gritty specifics but I expect we'll summarize some of the results when we're done.
If this doesn't help give us some specifics of what/how you're trying to print.

  • Print Comments Option Missing in Adobe Reader 9.4.0

Using a PDF I downloaded online, I inserted comments using both Adobe Acrobat Pro and Nuance PDF Converter Pro.
In both the Acrobat and Nuance applications I can print the PDF with the comments just fine.
When I opened the document in Adobe Reader 9.4.0 it would not print the comments by default.
I hunted around the File > Print & Edit > Preferences dialog boxes but found no such option in Reader 9.4.  It either does not exist, or I'm not looking in the proper place(s).
I opened the same document in Adobe Reader X and I did have the option to print the comments as outlined in the instructions here (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/897/cpsid_89733.html).
On that same page however it says a comment printing options should be on both the Edit > Preferences and File > Print dialog boxed in Reader 9 but it is not.  The instructions above appear to be inaccurate.
I've tested this on multiple systems (same base OS & configuration) but the problem persists:  How does one print comments in Adobe Reader 9.4.0?  (Upgrading is not an option at this time.)

    Thanks for the speedy response!
The repair didn't appear to do the trick.  The Comments option under Edit > Preferences is still missing and even with the Document and Markup option still selected, it doesn't actually print comments.I took it a step further & removed it completely then re-installed it but that didn't help.
I am part of the IT organization .  So you're suggesting (or saying) there's a certain Adobe Reader 9.4 update that introduces this feature?  If so, do we know which specific update?  Is there a KB article, release note or change log that that covers/discusses this?

  • Missing print options - Canon MP600 and ????

Well I discovered the hard way another function deleted in SL!
I have a Canon MP600 multifunction unit. Now when I go to print, I can NOT specify certain pages to print such as 1, 3, 7, 10. In Tiger & Leopard I could.
I finally found the option for printing all even or all odd pages under "Paper Handling". This helps but this means I have to switch to another screen to get that option. And why there instead of under instead of "Duplex Printing and Margin", a more logical place for the even or odd selection if not on the main page.
Also missing is the option to just print the current page.
For one document I wanted to print, I selected the pages one-by-one on the first page of the printer dialogue by selection a range of say 3 to 3.
Is this all the SL printer driver? Will the old Leopard driver work? If so how do I get it back?

I agree with Todd. You must have been using Office or Acrobat or some other application that provided this feature. The Preview application included with 10.6 has exactly the same print options as that provided with 10.5.
I finally found the option for printing all even or all odd pages under "Paper Handling". This helps but this means I have to switch to another screen to get that option. The Duplex Printing menu is provided by Canon. It is known as a PDE (Print Dialog Extension). When you think about, if the printer can print duplex then you usually don't want to print odd or even pages. This is more suited for printers that have no duplex option, where you would need to print one side then reload and print the other - hence it being provided by Apple and not the vendor.
Also missing is the option to just print the current page.
Preview does have an additional menu under File called 'Print Selected Page'.
For one document I wanted to print, I selected the pages one-by-one on the first page of the printer dialogue by selection a range of say 3 to 3.
That was also the case with Preview on 10.5. So again, you must be referring to a particular application that had print current page. BTW - if it was Acrobat you were using on 10.5 then this is still available with 10.6.
Is this all the SL printer driver? Will the old Leopard driver work? If so how do I get it back?
No. The issues you are mentioning appear to be application specific. As for installing the Leopard driver on 10.6, I don't believe the driver v5.8.3 for 10.5 and earlier can be used on 10.6. In testing the installation of the v5.8.3 driver on 10.6, it did appear to install but without an MP600 to connect to I cannot be certain it will work. So you may need to test this yourself. But that said, I don't believe the v5.8.3 driver will give you back the settings you want...

  • I can access a website and select the 'print' option but the print misses out

I can access a website and select the 'print' option but the print misses out photos that should be included in the print. It happens on more than one website. If I use Explorer it doesn't happen. I guess there must be a setting or something that I have not found? Any help very gratefully received. Than you.

I don't know if this will help, but I found it by accident. When I send Word projects to recipients, it doesn't always read properly depending on their format. If they have a PC It distortes my  program, or they may have newer versions of Word. If you have your document showing select 'print' and on my print menu at the bottom left corner it has a button that says 'PDF'. Click on that and it gives you several options for a PDF. What I do if I'm emailing to someone is select the email option then you can always print from the email. Hope that helps.

  • When will AR Andriod APP have the 2-sided print option available for a local network duplex enabled printing?

When will AR Andriod APP have the 2-sided print option available for a local network duplex enabled printing?

    I solved my problem!
Since I suspected routing or firewall problems inside the LAN, I went in to the router setup and did some in depth snooping. On an advanced menu of the wireless section was a one-line setting and check-box that said "Block Wireless Bridging". According to the manual, this setting "blocks wireless clients from communicating with other wireless clients on the LAN side of the Gateway."
I unchecked it and restarted the router and now all macs are screen and file sharing.

  • Reader 9.0- Print PDF Option Missing In All Applications...

Due to a glitch, I had to delete and reinstall my printers; now the option to print to PDF is missing in my print options. I am currently using Reader 9.0. I tried repairing the installation, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no luck. I cannot find any information on how to fix this. Please help- this is a feature I use daily!

Thanks Mike, I guess that's why I couldn't find any fix for the problem. I must have downloaded a PDF printer at some point and forgotten about it... I'm surprised though that Adobe doesn't just include this feature as there are several good free options out there.
