Never Again Nokia ! - EPIC FAIL ¡

The title says it all reason :
I've purchased an n97 for nearly 30000 inr two years back - i know very well that its completely outdated and due to hardware restrictions - it wont ever be updated to anna or belle ¡ . But how come nokia expect me to suffer for their fallacy of putting a mere 128mb ram and 434 mhz processor on their flagship ? I envy these first gen s^3 devices - they've got 2 major updates !- anna /belle and now belle refresh is coming ! Not to count numerous minor updates too ! Why then were we left with pathetic firmware on our devices ! -we never wanted belle or anna atleast make the current one more usable !
I've lost hope in you nokia ! Atleast if you have read numerous requests in here for doing something for s60v5 devices in here - you would not have done this to us !
I pity myself for having bought your flagship and will never again do the mistake of buying a nokia ! Who knows even lumias may suffer the same fate when wp8 arrives !
This is not only a single person expressing his anger here ! There are thousands behind me ! Fall nokia fall - YOU ARE AN 'EPIC FAIL' !

    Hi there,
    When you open an application which requires internet connection, the phone checks the saved access points according to their priorities to see if there is an available access point among them and when the phone finds an available access point, it tries to establish a connection. (Normally, WLAN connections come first prior to gsm operator connection (3G or EDGE) in order to save the cost.) This is OK so far.
    Now here is the abnormal behavior;  when you open the Social application, the phone does not check the saved access points whether they are available or not, it tries to establish the connection right away!! So, if you are somewhere out on the street and have for example 10 or more WLANs saved in your access list (I have 8 in my case), Social app tries to connect each and every one of them without checking whether they are available or not and gives connection fail message after it tries every WLAN access point then finally it reaches the end of the access point list and finally establishes the operator connection. This takes a lot of time and causes useless battery consumption. Most of the time it doesn't connect at all. I have to open any webpage to establish the connection first then I open Social app. Yet, to work around this problem, there is no setting to tell Social app to use a specific access point.
    Is there any solution to this "another epic fail"? I'd appreciate if someone help me out on this.

  • My iTunes account was disabled:  epic fail Apple!

    So, here's my story.  Last night, I was suddenly aware that I couldn't update apps on my iPhone (4S, up to date), or load new ones.  Tried everything, nothing helped.  iPad seemed fine.  Restored, restarted, resetting as new phone, nothing worked.  I went to my local genius bar and spend THREE HOURS with them, where they tried everything as well, resotring, resetting, even swapping the phone, nothing helped.  They suggested I contact apple for more help, I completely stumped the entire genius team at this store. Calling apple store support on my way home in a huff, the nice woman on the other line suggested that my account might be disabled.  So, upon returning home, I looked up "disabled itunes account" and noticed that to fix this, all one needed to do is change your itunes password.  When I did that, everything was fine again.  Apps loaded fine, existing apps updated fine as well.
    I consider this an epic fail on Apple's part.  Mind you, I love the iPhone, have had every model, and would never get another phone.  Nevertheless, why was my account disabled?  Why is there no phone number to call itunes support?  I have to email and wait for them to call back?  Why wasn't I sent a message saying that my account was disabled becuase of a potential security breach?  My account is in good standing, I barely purchase anything to be honest.  The odd small app or two, but that's it.  All was valid and in good standing.  Why would the geniuses not think to say "maybe it's your itunes account, let's change the password and see what happened."  I consider this a collasal failure, making me waste an entire evening, only for it to be a quick fix.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Usually it is because of multiple incorrect password entry attempts. Since resetting the password fixed the problem, this would seem to be likely. I can't say with certainty, though.

    No idea. E-mails are I believe usual in at least some such cases, but whether one would be generated in this specific instance (and perhaps was blocked by a spam filter) I can't say.

    Again, no firm idea, but the Geniuses aren't expected to provide support for the iTunes Store, so it probably hasn't arisen in exactly that way before and hence just didn't occur to them in absence of any evidence or notification that the account was disabled.

  • Hp Mini 110-1127NR EPIC FAIL HP

    I bought my HP mini when my old computer finally died. I'm a student, and use my comptuer for both work and school.
    So, when my motherboard died for the first time <3months after purchase, suffice to say I was mad. After dealing with a tech support that was at best pathetic, I was annoyed. When I recieved my computer back from HP two weeks later, you can imagine how screaming mad I was to discover that they had subbed out my 250g HDD for a 150g HDD.
    Think thats it?
    After calling back tech support and having them inform me that my computer doesn't come with a 250g HDD (as I was looking at the NewEgg page I'd purchased it from, which plainly states 250g) they finally agreed that I was right, that it did come with a 250. Two weeks later, my PC was finally back to normal.
    Over. I think not.
    Two months after replacement of mobo, my RAM unit went bad. Replaced that on my own (Didn't want to deal with HP)
    Now, four months after replacement of mobo, seven months after purchase, my computer randomly shuts down, restarts has killed TWO batteries purchased from NewEgg in addition to the one originally purchased with the netbook. It currently is unable to use a battery, as any new one plugged into the unit quickly loses its abliity to recharge.
    I've called HP to try to give me a replacement unit, as I love the Pink Chic coloring, but am met with only resistance. As someone in the computer field, I felt obligated to publicly voice my absolute displeasure with HP, thier tech support, thier products and thier customer service. I, personally will never purchase or reccomend another HP or Compaq product. I hope that the company suffers greatly from it's lack of quality in both its products and support.

    And the very night after I posted this thread, it died again.
    Epic. Fail. HP.

  • Without Warning, OSX 10.6.8 emailer has epic fail

    Even my MacGuru of some 17years could not figure what the *wild weasel* malfunction was coming from. He's the one who steered me to use the designated iCloud account page. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my 10.6.8 emailer *epically failed* to receive email as shown in the InBox. Contacted my MacGuru , whom is also my webmaster who has set up my emailer in past who advised to do a Connection Doctor check. Did one 3X and all a connections green lighted and sent current screenshots as proof of my findings to him along with a screenshot of the InBox of my OSX emailer showing *zero* outside emails since 6:30 AM, July 31,2014. That InBox remains dysfinctional. The strange thing is it does register email I send myself to myself as well as some., nowhere near all , ( as shown by my iCloud account webpage InBox , emails of my webmaster. It was as if fully half of our morning's email dialogue never happened according to my OSX 10.6.8 email InBox. He even informed me everything looks fine from his remote monitoring to which I had to reply, obviously the remote map is clearly *not* the actual territory. I suggested a possible *corrupted* emailer which he responded that it can't happen because all signs show everything is go. So what do I do with that diagnosis when my OSX 10.6.8 *still* is NOT  functioning as it normally should forcing me to depend upon the iCloud.com account page for any reliable receiving of email. I can *send* form my on iMac emailer, but reception is totally epic fail. Hence the iCloud.com account webpage is the only reliable alternative.
    Any ideas out there? Should I just back-up archive all of my created MailBoxes and trash this piece of dysfunctional emailer garbage and either do a clean install of just the emailer or would an epic fail like this require a clean install of all of OSX 10.6.8? I amForced to staywith OSX 10.6.8 because this is Wacom's he cut-off support version for my the drivers for my Wacom 12X 18 Wacom Intuos as I can not uyet afford the $700 upgrade to an IntuosIII . Measnwhile this iCloud account page is *most* inefficient , but I am left *no* other choice that I've been made aware of . That's why, out of desperation to understand what the OSX emailer app dysfunction is , I came to this open forum.

  • Is my iMac dying? Epic fail all day yesterday

    Yesterday failed in every way, it froze completely and after restart (all) apps wouldn't even open.. icon just kept bouncing.. nothing worked properly.
    After all sorts of weird stuff going on and about 5 restarts [with some complete freezing during some], then starting up holding D and chosing the HD I was able to run Disk Utility and Verify came out ok but apparently many Permissions were bad.
    Since I had worked a lot the day before (typing stuff in for ex.), I figured I should take advantage of the system apparently working normally again to make a smart backup with SuperDuper!  (didn't want to lose the work done).  Bad idea, it took 10 times longer than usual and copied a huge amount of GB - which makes no sense because I hadn't changed nearly that much stuff since last backup-... so no idea what that was about... could I have screwed the backup???   My main concern is losing the 800+GB  of important data etc... if the iMac dies that's fine.
    iMac is almost 4 years old... new internal HD a few months ago...
    I disconnected the internet fearing a 'hacker' attack...  (?)  Possible?
    Today it seems to be working normal again... Anyway... what could be going on??  Sorry for the long story

    An epic fail seems more likely to be a story.

    Below is an email i wrote to the company:
    Dear Ladies and Gentleman,
    please let me explain to you why i will never again by a product of your company.
    It is not because of the product itself, it is the way you distribute your product.
    I recently bought a Zen Creative mp3-player, which really is a fine product.
    When i bought it online, the product description said "software only available for windows"
    which is ok with me, i dont use windows anymore, and i am used to reading this sentence.
    Ususally this only means "of course you can access the product with whatever operating system you prefer,
    but the software we ship out with the product works only on xyz" (xyz meaning windows in 99%)
    Then i tried to copy my music:
    It is not possible to read or write to the player using Linux as operating system.
    Please dont tell me that this would be difficult to write your software for linux,
    i am a software engineer developing for windows and linux and i know that this is trivial.

    Even worse, you designed the player in a way, that it is impossible to copy data to it WITHOUT
    your software. And no, this didnt show up in the product description. Scince your player is more or
    less just a usb-stick, there is - from a technical point of view - not a single reason why anybody would
    need a special software just to simply copy data to an usb-device.
    3.
    Now the worst of all: I still had a windows 2000 system on one of my computers, so i tried to install
    your software on the system. which of course failed scince your software can only be installed on windows xp.
    Again, for no technical reasons.
    This leads us to 2 questions:
    a) How much money did Microsoft pay you, that even people owning a legimitate windows 2000 licence are forced to buy windows xp?
    b) Let me guess: As soon as windows Vista is released your software only runs on windows vista, right?
    Please be also informed that i also sent letters describing the case to several german popular computer magazines, and hopefully
    they will publish my concern as an example of how impertinent a company can get.

    I am not a Creative employee but I do know a bit about Plays for Sure so I can reply a bit about that.
    ). Creative did not choose to limit the players to Windows XP. Creative chose to make the ZEN line Plays for Sure devices. Microsoft was the company that chose to limit Plays for Sure to Windows XP (and at one point they were saying there would be a 2000 and ME/98SE update but it never came out). By choosing Plays for Sure I am sure Creative was aware that they would be restricting to a Windows platform but Plays for Sure was the only standard being offered that has built in database and metadata support which the ZEN line all depended on. UMS (Uni'versal Mass Storage) does not have the features that allow for the internal system database to be updated during transfer (rather you have to update it following the transfer which is usually done at boot up which leads to very long boot times following uploads). Creative had been using a proprietary system (called the PDE driver) however that also was being critisised for not being uni'versal enough and requiring the disk to install the drivers (the ZEN Micro fixed that by adding a UMS data dri've feature which many used to store the CD on). The PDE system also did not support subscription tracks like PFS does.
    2) The system is in fact not at all like a USB stick. There is a database in the background that stores all of the metadata for the tracks to allow for the sorting and subscription/DRM support. There is a USB storage mode where you can make a portion of the dri've act like a data stick using UMS but it can't support music transfer due to the limitations of the UMS system. On Windows XP machines (with SP ) the player is plug and play with no need for special software (it works with Windows Media Player). It is only when you move outside of the specified system requirements that you lose the plug and play ability.
    3) Windows 2000 isn't supported by Plays for Sure. There are workarounds, but really this is a case of Microsoft not providing a driver. You may be a
    a) I suspect Creative paid a licensing fee to participate in PFS. I would take your complaints about PFS not supporting Windows 2000 to Microsoft as they are the company that runs that program.
    b) I doubt that Microsoft would remove PFS support from Windows XP. Such a move would be horrible but once again would not be the fault of Creative.
    One might fault Creative for supporting PFS, but even today it is the only standard available that offers the features it does. It also offers support to what accounts for a vast majority of Creative's targeted user base. I am sure Creative would love for it to be offered for 2000/ME/98SE but they don't develop the license.

  • Draft created on iPhone, modified and sent from iPad - Epic Fail

    My wife worked for days on a reply to an email she received.  She did this on her iPhone and was saving it as a Draft.  We both have mobile me accounts and both of these accounts are set up on our iPad.  I opened the draft from her Draft folder in the iPad, read it over, made a couple of changes and hit Send.  A message was displayed about not being able to send it, something wasn't set up properly.  It never got put back in the Draft folder, or the Sent Folder.  It didn't sync with her Outbox on her Mac either.
    She can create an email on the iPad and send it just fine.  So can I.  My account is the primary account in the iPad.
    We just can't edit/send a Draft on the iPad that was created on either Apple Mail, or iPhone Mail.
    Anyone else ever experience this?

    Just discovered this issue as well and "epic fail" is the exact way to put it. Can't believe this is an issue. Doesn't matter if in me.com, gmail, or other accounts...there is no way to edit and save IMAP draft message on iphone or ipad. Major disappointment.

    You will need to do a network recovery:
    Install Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
    Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Guess what? It was a font conflict all along. I removed a folder of free fonts I downloaded days earlier. Problem solved. No need to wipe out the system and reinstall!

    I won't preorder again either. I also won't suggest anyone else pre-order because of this run around I'm getting.  I pre-ordered hoping to get my s4 in a timely convenient manner. It's unfair to see many others have their phone in hand while I still wait. I ordered prior to the in-store release date so I should have mine in the same amount of time as anyone off the street. It's unfair to make me wait. I ordered on the 22nd and it's the 30th.. I still wait.
    Also, it's ridiculous that no one can answer when pre-orders will be shipped. Answers are vague and scripted and forum moderators don't help.

    The only accessory I know of that can be used to transfer photos from a camera or SD card to the iPad, is the Apple Camera Connection Kit.  The kit consists of two adapters.  One has an SD card socket.  The other has a USB connector to connect directly to the camera.
    I do not think you can transfer photos from the iPhone to the iPad unless you first transfer them to a computer.  If you then transfer the photos to an SD card, they must have eight character names plus suffix and be stored in a DCIM folder, just as if they came from a camera.
    One thing you can try is to reboot the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Rebootting will not hurt anything and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

    Finally, I can draw a conclusion for myself and for you: If you contemplate buying a HP Laptop, don't. Not unless you have a very good reason that it must be from HP.
    Having witnessed several generations of HP Laptops I can rightfully say that if you can choose another Brand, choose Acer, Asus or possibly Samsung, not HP.
    Yes, HP Laptops work. And if you don't care about details and only about price/performance ratio, you are probably fine with the shiny producs which HP advertises. But if you are looking for mature, compatible, well-chosen and professional hardware, which allows you to go beyond running a 0815 graphics application and Microsoft Office you are better advised to avoid HP wherever possible.
    Want to use Linux? Don't buy a HP Laptop.
    Want to configure your computer to fit your needs? Don't buy a HP Laptop.
    Want a working BIOS? You surely don't want to buy HP then.
    Want to update your hardware? Better not buy HP?
    In all of those cases and many more you should stick to brands which don't use cheap, under-developed core components in favor of a bloated features. In particular, you want to save yourself the trouble of permanent hardware failures and poorly executed repairs.
    2011 HP limbs long behind its competitors, who offer flexibile, powerful BIOS, solid and mature hardware and well-balanced components. If these days the most impressive setting HP BIOS have to offer is setting the system clock and the boot order, even if you don't know what that means and what other options there *might* be, trust me, you want to keep away from HP laptops.
    These are things you won't see when looking at the specifications of laptops, boasting with speed and size. Quantity over quality, eventually, you will notice quality matters.
    PS: I want to note that this is not to be understood as a criticism of HP hardware in general. HP has, in more than one field, a long and successful history of creating high-end hardware. But laptops turn out just not to be HP's domain. At least not on a level that one would call "professional":

    So, after having the screen replaced three times, I thought that things would work, after all. I even deemed myself lucky, because I had not been faced with the issues hundreds of other people on this forum say to have, such as overheating, errors on POST or complete failures
    Today, about two weeks after everything seemed to have gotten back to normal, the Wacom Touchscreen/Pen eventually died completely, from one minute to the next.
    Oh, the irony...
    I wonder what I will do once I run out of warranty. Is that what HP speculates on?
    I can nothing but reaffirm: HP Laptops? Never (again)!

    and tried to move my logic over.. well.. this hasnt been so smooth ..
    Im wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make this work..
    Installed Logic - from Install Disks
    Received "error message"updated Logic from 9.0 .. to now 9.1.7
    Received another error "Logic Pro requires that your system have ProKit 5 installed; this system has ProKit 0 installed."went online and updated to ProKit 5 ..
    The updated Lion to 10.7.3.. as sugguested
    Open up logic.. works fine..
    go to import audio file (Add Audio File) no responce
    go to add anything from the media bin and no responce --- things click, but dont open, files dont land in the arrange page
    The pointer is no longer an arrow but a (side ways arrow on both side)
    Loops wont allow themselves to be dropped on the arrange
    Quit on Logic is "Greyed Out"
    Open Movie doesnt respond..
    Im totally lost on what to do

  • Nokia 5800XM Keyguard or Security Lock EPIC FAIL?

    Hi all, i am a DIE HARD Nokia fan,
    all 9 of my phones in my entire life have ALWAYS been nokias, 
    since my first phone i've MAXIMISED 100% efficiency with ALL of my handsets.
    from my 3320, 6360, 6230, 6101, 6300 and now my 5800XM
    with LOVING my phone to the very last ends, i seem to suffer from one MAJOR problem. the phone has a lock 'switch' on the side that is genuinely very efficient. 
    HOWEVER, this does not 'secure' my phone as much as i would like it to be protected from 'just anyone who can slide the lock key.'
    all my other nokia phones had auto keyguard locks, which will then require a security code to unlock the phone. seeing that this phone unlocks MANUALLY my sliding the key, is nokia really telling me that there is no security feature to ensure the safely of my personal data?
    which i find EXTREMELY unacceptable. i've even searched for MONTHS now trying to find an 'APP' to sec. lock my phone, and i've had no such luck.
    nokia should have implemented this technology and software in ALL of their phones, why not in this one? ALL other phones have this security feature, even on other touch screen phones where users touch key points in sequence to unlock the phone. dare i ask why is this so difficult to address?
    further more, users shouldn't have to ASK reliable companies like nokia for an 'update' for this feature to be installed. im sure it's not only me who thinks their information isn't easily accessible by just anyone who finds and picks up their phone, slides the key, and has unlimited access to all their personal information.
    maybe i am not informed of this feature, but if it IS possible, please do respond?
