New application not available to other users

My iMac is set up with a separate user account for each family member. My wife has admin priveleges, my daughter's is a general account and my son's is restricted (i.e. kid friendly).
I just installed Rosetta Stone v3 from within my account. I confirmed that it runs properly; the installation was successful. My next step was to check that my family could use the program. Within my wife's account I got the following message: Fatal Application Error 5118. Naturally, my first thought was Permissions. I went back to my account and set the group Everyone to have read/write permissions and set the third menu (Others? Guests? I forget what it's called...) to read/write too. Back to my wife's account; Error 5118. I looked in the Get Info window to confirm the changes took place and they had. I restarted the machine, checked Get Info again (still read/write for everyone) and once again got Error 5118.
I've called Rosetta Stone. Of course they're not Mac-saavy, but they indicate Error 5118 is a permissions conflict.
My question(s): is there any way to ensure that applications I install are available to all users? Do I have to log in as Root (something I HATE doing) to install new applications?

Problem Solved! Although I had set the privileges for the application, the problem was in HD>Library>Application Support>Rosetta Stone. By setting that folder and its enclosed folders to read/write for everyone, the fix was in.
It's too bad that I had to do any of this. The installer should have adopted the permissions from the folders it installed into. Grrrr.
BTW, the error message was a Rosetta Stone message, not a Mac OSX message; I didn't make that clear before.

    When I try to select one of this new applications on BPC for Excel, they are not available for me, after I select my set of applications.

    Go to Member access profile under security.Here you will see your newly created Application.Selection this application and assign
    it to users and groups.Now go to connection wizard.In drop down box for Application you will be able to see your application.Login using this application.

  • Error importing new version of our app "Application not available for edit"

    Hi,
    We are trying to import an app and get the error: Application not available for edit
    thats it on a clean white background - Application not available for edit shows up at the top left corner of the screen.
    Any clues?
    We tried a new id, tried a custom id.
    Then we tried deleting the existing app so we could insert the new app.
    We can't delete either.
    Help!

    I'm going to hijack this thread and ask a follow up question to Scott (or whoever reads this).
    When we export our application out of DEV it gets exported as Run + Build. When I have the DBA import into test or production on the Import screen I have them set it to Run Only and Reuse the Application ID. After installing it just forwards you to the same white screen with the "Application not available for edit" message on it. Now I understand the actual message since its Run Only, but its not clear that the import actually worked correctly or not.
    So although it does seem to import correctly, they always get nervous when they see this that it didnt import correctly. So is it better to have them import as Run + Build and then go change the build status through the admin front end rather than the way I'm doing it now?

    I need to make Skype available to other users set up on my (first) Mac... can't find help for this in the Help sys. I am a recovering PC user and new to Mac. I want to perform login management.  I have spent over three hours trying to figure out how to get Skype visible to other users on this (home) Mac.

    It is installed in neither of those locations.  It is not in 'Harddrive/Applications/" or user folders.  It appears to have installed it in the ROOT on the same level (in Finder) as "Macintosh HD."  I logged into my primary Admin account and used the Skype defaults for installation.

  • Error - Some objects are not available to your user profile...

    It is for BI 4.1 on Windows. We have a connection called CON1 pointing to DB1. It uses UNIV1 All reports were working fine and we were able to refresh it as well.
    Now the CON1 is changed to point to DB2 and we are now getting following error - "Some objects are not available to your user profile. You cannot refresh this Query. See your Business Objects administrator to request rights".
    If I create a new report using CON1 and the it works fine. Only the old reports are still causing issue on refresh. I tried with Admin account as well and same issue.
    The CON1 is still CON1 and universe UNIV1 is still using CON1. Just the content was edited from DB1 to DB2 in CON1. If we create a new report then no issue.
    Can anybody advice if something needs to compiled. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Your old reports are still pointing to same connection. Remember the DSN has been pointed to use another Database. The records and entries will be different. In addition as the records or object mapping have changed for these reports. Hence this would be a very normal behaviour.
    Create a new connection named CON2 or something like that to point DB1 as per your requirement. This way your original reports would work.

  • Applications not available

    I am searching for several apps via my phone app world but the search result does not display them.Yet when i search via a PC on App world (not via the phone) the apps are there?
    I then send the link to my phone to try and install the apps but get the message "application not available on your device or for your carrier". The phone is less than 1week old. surely the app search should bring up all apps on App world and where the app states available for for all devices and all carriers it should work?
    my carrier says it's not the phone and it's because its new - can someone clarify this as correct or should i just request a new phone?

    Well here are a few options.
    Torch has 360 x 480, 9700 has 480 x 360 pixels, 8900 has 480 x 360 pixels, 9000 has 480 x 320 pixels.
    I wouldnt recommend an iPhone (I deal with them all day) unless you jailbreak it.

  • "Application not available" page

    We have a need to display an "application not available" page when a person navigates to the site outside the normal hours of operations.
    One way to do this is to have the index.html route to a JSF page which checks the time, then either redirects to the application, or if outside of operating hours displays the "not available" message.
    Is there a way that this can be solved with the faces-config.xml file? I would like to move this logic out of the page.

    I'm hoping this is an easy one...
    I have a Lumia 710 with the latest software. I reinstalled the OS on my laptop, and reinstalled Zune. I connected my Lumia and change the sync partnership type from Guest and everything looked OK.
    Since then, when I connect to the App Marketplace and irrespective of what application I select, I get the message "Application not available. This might be because your phone software needs to be updated..." message.
    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    If you go to Microsoft store on your PC and you sign in with your Microsoft account you should be able to select apps and install them to the phone without the need of Zune. If this works and you can also install apps directly on your phone I'd contact Microsoft Store Support for further assistance.

    Hi Alex,
    Though I have not worked using T.code SQVI, I had done the ABAP Query using "SAP Query". The procedure in it is in T.Code SQ03, we create a User Group and assign the users in the same, so that the users can access the Query. Hope this might help you.     i had the same problem before using a fresh install of Windows 8.1.  I have resolved this issue by running the program compatibility wizard.  This I did by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the desktop, selecting Troubleshoot compatibility, waited for it to detect compatibility issues and when presented with the following options: 1.) Try recommended settings; 2.) Troubleshoot program, I chose the latter.  When asked what problems I noticed, I checked the following: "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run" and "The program requires additional permission"
    After that, it tired to resolve the issue, and provided the necessary settings to run iTunes.  Now it's running flawlessly.  I have Avast anti-virus installed though.

  • Initiator Task not visible to other users in the Group

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, WLS 10.3.6, BPM 11.1.1.6
    I have a Process and the swimlane containing the Initiator Task is assigned to a Group.
    All the users in the group are able to Initiate the Task.
    But when the Task is initiated, the Task is assigned to the User specifically, but not to the Group. I guess this is the default behavior.
    The Human Task Assignee - defaultPerformer for the Initiator Task is uneditable in the initiator.task file.
    What I was expecting is that, since the Initiator swimlane is assigned to the Group, All the users in the Group should be able to see the Tasks initiated by anyone in the Group.
    I want this behavior in the Initiator type of tasks specifically. (The normal Tasks other than Initiator tasks are working as expected.)
    The reason why we want this is, let us say after the task is created, and before it is submitted, there is a lot of work to be done, for example, data entry, should be done by many people in the Group.
    If all the users in the Group are able to see the Initiator Task, then it will help to share the responsibility of data entry among the users of the group.
    I tried Reassigning the task to Group, and it works, but we am looking for something automatically assigning to the Group when the Process is created. (We may not be using the Oracle BPM Workspace at all).
    Can anyone please tell us if there is a way to make the Initiator Task automatically assigned to the Group instead of just the user?

    Thanks for replying.
    I did the same and it was working for me even if the Type is Single.
    I just gave the Group name and all users were able to see the task. This is fine with me.
    I just observed one more thing.
    When the task is created, all the users in the Group are able to see it in 'Me & My Group'.
    But the data entered by the creator is not seen by other users.
    There is an action 'Save' in the Task. If the creator clicked on it, then the task is automatically 'Acquired' by the creator.
    Other users in the group are able to see the task and the saved data, but are not able to Submit.
    What I expected the Save button to do is only to Save the data in the Payload. Not Claim it.
    Is there a way to make the payload data only to save but not to claim the task?

    I am not a developer, so pardon me if I misunderstood this question. I thought screens and other repository objects are client independent. That means the change should be evident in all clients without a need to transport.
    Is this to do with security by any chance ( though it seems unlikely )? Can the other users see the change in the original client in which the request was made? That should help you determine whether the problem lies with the transport or outside. Also you can check the contents of the transport in SE01 and see if it holds the kind of data that you are expecting it to. I am guessing you have already generated the screen after saving the changes.
