New beta features: share to Twitter, Facebook, & Pinterest

We've added a few beta sharing features for you to try out.  Now, you can share to Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest directly from theme details. We have created a special link to give you access to new features (new feature link)--without this link you won't be able to see the new features.  This link will allow you to use the site, same as before, but will also enable the new features that we're looking for feedback on.
To try this feature you will need to sign-in to the site.  Then, click on any color theme to view more details.  From here, click the "share" icon/link and you will see all the sharing options.  Select your preferred option and start sharing.
We'd love to hear how this is working for you.  We look forward to reading your feedback!
PS- we released a new version of our iOS app last week which adds sharing to Facebook and allows you to share images in addition to your theme.  If you have not updated, go check it out.

The features are now available for all kuler users.  We look forward to your feedback!

  • New beta features (August) - feedback please

    We've added a few more beta features for you to check out.  In this post, I'll explain what's changed and how you view/use the new features.  Please reply to this post to share your feedback.
    Features enabled for this group: (click this link to view the features: https://kuler.adobe.com/features/enable/newFeatures)
    We have created a special link to give you access to new features (new feature link)--without this link you won't be able to see the new features.  This link will allow you to use the site, same as before, but will also enable the new features that we're looking for feedback on.  So, here's an overview of what's new:
    (1) Re-order swatches: You can re-order the colors in your swatch simply by clicking and, while continuing to press down, drag the color to the desired location.  Give it a try and let us know what you think.
    (2)"Slider" editing controls: Previously we had one slider that controlled the brightness level of your color — we've added a slider control for each value in the color space you are editing.  For example, if you are working in the RGB color space, you will see a slider control for "R", "G", and "B".  For RGB, you will see a 4th control, set apart from the others, that allows you to control brightness.  Each control provides a visual spectrum which will allow you to visually edit your colors with more precision.
    Note, we are still working out a few performance issues for these features on the Android default browser and Windows surface.  Ideally, you will have access to another browser to test these features on.
    In addition to the beta features mentioned above, we've also rolled out several features which were previously in beta.  Those features include creating themes from an image, resizable color wheel, and less distracting borders.
    That's it for now.  We look forward to reading your feedback!

    Looking better and better!
    I am testing in Google Chrome in Windows
    1) Reorder Swatches - this works as described. Click, drag and drop. It will be good to have this feature back. On the down side, sometimes changing the base color causes the swatches to reorder... and sometimes the button to set the base color does not respond at all while the swatches shuffle. It hasn't been consistent enough to track down a cause.
    2) Slider editing controls - good to see these back, too! These greatly speed coarse adjustments to colors, while using the cursor keys in the number fields allows for finer deatail control of the number. Seems to work as intended with my brief testing. A possible option would be to have a toggle to switch between the Full sliders and the brightness slider for those that preferred the other way or that simply wish to simplify/minimise the appearance (I like the full slider control, but at times could see the simpler view beneficial as an OPTION).
    Thanks for the opportunity to preview these features!
    -mt
    Edit:
    Another thing that seems to work better now is the list of color spaces. It no longer jumps open on hovering over it. I like that it retains the view setting (open to full list or 'minimized' to HEX + 1) regardless of the pointer hovering over it.
    Feature request: On the sliders, perhaps you can add/enable a set of sliders for the hex values?. Perhaps add an option to minimize the color space list to only hex values?. This could be beneficial for those that work in hex color values only. And, since this is all hypotheical for now, perhaps a toggle to enable or disable a limit to web-safe colors when tweaking hex values via sliders?

  • How to share to Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc. from an iBook

    I'm having a very hard time creating a page at the end of my book where readers can share a quick blurb and my web site on various social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
    My first approach was trying the same version of the Tweet button, the Like button, and the +1 button that you would add to a web site. These *don't* work out of the box because an iBooks HTML widget will not load external JavaScript or anything in an iframe. Has this been everyone else's experience? Am I doing something wrong?
    Then, I made a widget that submitted predefined text and URLs to Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ through query parameters (which most of the share buttons do themselves behind the scenes). However, the implementation works but with severe drawbacks. You can log in to Twitter and tweet something but then you can't share on Facebook or Google+ due to the way iBooks HTML widgets handle URLs. Instead of opening URLs in Mobile Safari, like a plain iBooks Author link somewhere in the book text, the widget opens it's own browser window without any UI, location bar, history, or anything. Worse yet, there doesn't seem to be any way to navigate back or reset the widget to the original URL (main.html in Dashcode terms). This means whatever page you end up at after sharing something to say, Twitter, is the page the widget will always open from now on. To refresh the widget and share via another social service, you have to force quit and reopen the iBooks app.
    You can see my code and try it out here: https://github.com/avk/iBooks-Social-Widget
    The most important files are main.html and js/script.js
    The widget.openURL(...) method, which can open links in Safari from a Dashboard widget, doesn't seem to be supported in iBooks HTML widgets.
    All this seems wrong and unnecessarily difficult. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Unless both ipads were set up with the same Apple ID, there really isn't.
    This does depend on the app however. I don't read iBooks, but there are some e-reader apps like Kindle that may allow you to 'loan' the book to someone else. Or, using an e-reader app, the book can be 'checked out' of a library that supports downloaded books. You have an account, 'borrow' the file, use an e-reader app to read it, and have a certain time frame in which to finish reading.

  • New beta features (July) - feedback please

    Since we launched the site redesign back in June, we've heard a lot of feedback from active Kuler members.  And, we took your feedback to heart. Today, we're happy to be able to share several changes we've been working.  Some of these changes are no-brainers and we're making them available to everyone.  Others need a bit more refinement--so, we're looking for input from you.
    (1) Create themes from an image: You can create themes from an image stored on your device.  Here's how: from the the Create page (color wheel), you should see a camera icon above and to the right of the color wheel. Click the icon and you will be asked to select an image from the file picker.  Select your image and start picking colors.
    (2) Resizing the color wheel: You can resize the color wheel to make it small or keep it large.  And, the site will remember your preference. Here's how: hover over the color wheel on the create page and your cursor will change to a magnifying glass with either a "+" or a "-" symbol.  If you click the wheel you can make it smaller or larger.  Large is good for selecting the right hue and small for viewing color interactions on your theme.
    (3) Smaller borders (and the ability to remove the white "active" border):  We've reduced the size of the borders so they don't get in the way.  We've also made it possible to remove the "active" color selection when editing on the color wheel.  Here's how: while viewing the color wheel, click on the dark grey portion of the page above, below or to each side of the color wheel.  You can now see your theme without any "active" border.
    (4) Easier to find color space data (e.g. RGB, CMYK, etc.): several people had some trouble finding all the color spaces (e.g. RGB, CMYK, LAB, HSB).  So, we added a hover effect that will automatically expand the color space data when you mouse over it.  If you prefer to work in a specific space and don't want it to keep expanding, you can stop the expanding feature by clicking  on the white triangle.  That will contract the menu and will make the last space you edited the default.
    Features available to everyone: (no special link required to view)
    (5) Save changes dialogue: many of you mentioned the new site would not give you a choice to save a new theme or overwrite an existing theme after editing.  That's now fixed.
    (6) Tab order: a few people mentioned tabbing through color spaces was tedious.  You asked us to allow you to tab through each color in a single space (e.g. RGB) before moving on to a different color space (e.g. CMYK).  We've made this change.
    (7) Instant saving: Saving a theme was taking a couple seconds--which was too long. We've updated the save feature to be much quicker.
    That's it for now.  We're working on a bunch of other features and we plan to share those on the forum in the coming weeks.  We look forward to reading your feedback!

    Just had a quick look, so my (first) comments are just about the new/fixed features. I only took a look at my laptop with small screen, so I would have to check on a bigscreen computer, tablet and iphone to give complete advice. And checkout more of course.
    So, for now on small screen laptop:
    (1) Create themes from an image:
    (a) Choosing picture: You can only pick a picture on your disk. Why not from the web? That's a missing.
    (b) Working: After picking it seems to work allright, but I haven't used it until now.
    (c) Activate camera icon: It takes a while (3 sec) before responding. That's too long, looks like it isn't responding.
    (2) Resizing the color wheel:
    (a) covering colors: Hurray! Very nice to get rid of the wheel in front of my colors.
    (b) magnifying glass: recognizable and it works. Good option.
    (c) changing magnifying glass in a colorpicking +symbol:  To my surprise that works good. When hovering over the colorpickers it and I used it without thinking.
    (d) remembering settings: Nice! But will it remember my settings on a different computer? I have to try.
    (3) Smaller borders (and the ability to remove the white "active" border):
    (a) Smaller borders: Nice, just small enough to notice and not disturb too much
    (b) remove the white "active" border):  Smooth!
    (4) Easier to find color space data (e.g. RGB, CMYK, etc.):
    (a) Expanding: Not very fond of the constant expanding. I would prefer to choose a preference when working on a theme.
    (b) change default color space: That's a good option, but still it expands to all spaces when hovering over it.
    (5) Save changes dialogue:
    (a) dialogue: works fine
    (b) naming the theme: the name is still default, you have to give a name afterwards, by editing. Why not ask for a name when you save the first time or save a copy?
    (6) Tab order: works fine, tab and shift-tab
    (7) Instant saving: Saves quickly

  • New Zones features in Solaris 10 Beta 5

    Solaris 10 Beta 5 (otherwise known as Software Express 7/04) should be
    available shortly via the download link
    http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/solaris-express/get.html
    For more information on what's available in the release, please see the
    already posted documentation
    http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/817-0547
    There are some new Zones features in this release that folks might be
    interested in
    * Command line editing and history for zonecfg(1M)
    With support from the the libtecla(3LIB) library, zonecfg(1M) now has
    command line editing and history support which should help in creating
    and/or modifying a zone's configuration.
    * Configuring UFS, UDFS, HSFS and PCFS file systems through zonecfg(1M)
    Starting with this release, users can specify ufs, udfs(7FS), hsfs(7FS)
    and pcfs(7D) file systems as part of the zone's configuration. For
    example, if /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7 is a block device that you want to
    dedicate to a zone under the name /mydata, it can be added as follows:
    # zonecfg -z myzone
    zonecfg:myzone> add fs
    zonecfg:myzone:fs> set dir=/mydata
    zonecfg:myzone:fs> set special=/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7
    zonecfg:myzone:fs> set raw=/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s7
    zonecfg:myzone:fs> set type=ufs
    zonecfg:myzone:fs> end
    zonecfg:myzone> commit
    zonecfg:myzone> ^D
    This file system will automatically get mounted under the name /mydata
    inside the zone when it is booted or made "ready".
    * NFSv4 client support for Zones
    Zones can now be NFSv4 clients although in this release the default is
    to begin negotiating as NFSv3 clients. To configure a zone to
    negotiate NFSv4, the NFS_CLIENT_VERSMAX parameter in /etc/default/nfs
    should be uncommented and set to "4".
    * The new -z and -Z options to ps(1)
    The new -z option can be used to select only processes in the given
    list of zones. For example, the command "ps -z twilight,16,myzone"
    will print those processes from the zones with the names "twilight",
    "myzone" and the zoneid 16.
    The -Z option automatically adds a ZONE field to the existing reports
    as the first column.
    The Zones team would appreciate hearing feedback from our customers on
    these new features and any other Zones issues or questions that you
    might have.

    In the README file for the 07/04 release it says that there's a problem with some 64bit runtime libraries missing from the SUNWlibC package. I'm a bit unsure about where to download this package from. Do you have the link to the page it is refering too???

    I just updated to OS X mountain lion and my notification widow does not have the twitter/facebook feature any way i can set it up or turn it on?

    While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Mountain Lion. There's a Mountain Lion Support Community where everybody has Mountain Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mountain_lion

  • Popular request: How to Share articles via Facebook/twitter/eMail

    I wrote a comprehensive post on how to share your article via facebook, twitter or eMail or collect community comments right inside your folio. This is how I established an overlaying layer of comments and discussion in my DONE magazine.
    This is a bit complicated, has some problems, but is a popular request and might help you to enable more discussion about your content:

    Hi Johannes,
    Thanks a lot, it is very helpful!
    I actually wouldn't be posting here if I wouldn't have a problem with it though.
    The thing is, I can't get it to work!
    So to clear things up here is my HTML code I'm trying to get working on an InDesign document (based on your HTML 5 template - Facebook like button code within the "body" tag):
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <!--

    -->
    <html laneg="en">
    <head>

                        -Pagination of HTML stacks: omit completly or do not use user-scalable and target-densitydpi
                        -PinchZoom: use "Scale Content to Fit" in InDesign and use maximum-scale greater than 1.0, do not use user-scalable=no
              -->
              <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no, target-densitydpi=device-dpi"/>
              <!-- your document css -->
              <style type="text/css">
              /* basic css reset */
              body {
                        margin: 0;
                        padding: 0;
                        /* make WebOverlay transparent in InDesign: "Use Transparent Background" */
                        /* use following line for semi-transparent-background (fourth value is alpha value) */
                        /* background: rgba(50,150,250,0.5); */
              /* your css styles here */
              </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="fb-root"></div>
    <script>(function(d, s, id) {
      var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
      if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
      js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
      js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/nl_NL/all.js#xfbml=1";
      fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
    }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>
    <div class="fb-like" data-href="http://www.website.com/" data-send="true" data-width="450" data-show-faces="true" data-font="tahoma"></div>
    </body>
    </html>
    What I do:
    I create an empty frame in my InDesign document.
    In  the overlay creator I tell it to be a Web Content.
    I select the HTML file containing above code.
    I update the article in the Folio Builder and test it on the iPad.
    The result is actually... nothing. The area in which the frame is, displays a small loading wheel and after that it's totally empty.
    What am I doing wrong??
    Thanks.

  • New IOS features

    Hi guys and girls,
    I was wondering if there was a Cisco mailing list or some type of advertising shoot that Cisco used to advertise new features in IOS software? I have been reading through text books on the new exams in the past to keep up to date but thought that there must be a better way out there that I have simply missed.
    Any help will be appreciated. Oh and you can also be the first person to respond to my posts on the forum :S. To be fair I fixed the other issues by myself but it’s always nice to hear from others.
    Cheers
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    To be completely honest, I would welcome such mailing list or a concise information channel for new and changed IOS features as well. Unfortunately, so far, there are no such focused information sources to my best knowledge.
    What you can always visit:
    1) Each major IOS generation is documented along with the Release Notes which document the changes, newly added or removed features, solved and open caveats, etc. Following is the list of Release Notes for major IOS versions for routers:
    12.4: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6350/prod_release_notes_list.html
    12.4T: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6441/prod_release_notes_list.html
    15.0M: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10591/prod_release_notes_list.html
    15.1M: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10592/prod_release_notes_list.html
    2) Also, major new features are described in standalone documents called the Feature Guides:
    12.4: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6350/products_feature_guides_list.html
    12.4T: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6441/products_feature_guides_list.html
    15.0M: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10591/products_feature_guides_list.html
    15.1M: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10592/products_feature_guides_list.html
    3) For Catalyst switches, the Release Notes are are published more often, however, the IOSes for Catalyst switches are customized for each Catalyst platform and you should always go to the appropriate Catalyst switch product pages to visit the corresponding IOS documentation.
    4) As the Catalyst switches have very nice Configuration Guides, they can also be used as sources of information about supported features, including learning about new features - although it may be difficult to know which exact feature has been added in a new version.
    Anyone here willing to share his/her own ways of keeping in pace with new IOS features?
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Safari will not stay logged into Facebook/Pinterest/Fitocracy/etc. after Mavericks upgrade. How to fix?

    After upgrading to Mavericks, Safari now will not stay logged into any site that requires a username/password, such as Facebook, Pinterest, Fitocracy, etc.  I can log in and browse for a minute or so, then all of a sudden it is as if I am not logged in.  As an example, Facebook will require me to log in again, remember browser, and then I get the security warning email since I have that feature activated with Facebook.  It is as if Safari completely forgets everything.  I believe it has to do with the new iCloud username/password sync function...  How does this get fixed?

    Try deleting the Safari cache.
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
    Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.
    If you still have problems, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
    From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. I
    If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
    If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
    Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
    If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • NSS326 Problems Using New SFTP Features

    Is anyone else having issues using the new SFTP feature that was released in the 1.2 firmware?  We are running firmware 1.3.  When we try to connect to the NSS326 via SFTP, the only user that can login is "admin" and they get placed directly into the root of the device.  We want to use the SFTP feature to backup Communications Manager (which requires SFTP) but being dumped into the "root" does not appear to give us access to the vast disk space on the unit, so the backup fails.  Is there a way to configure the SFTP options, because the administration GUI only specifies FTPS (Explicit)?  Thanks.

    On my NSS326, I have a single RAID-6 volume and it's mounted under /share/MD0_DATA.  Each shared folder is containted in that directory (i.e. Web), but is also symlinked to /share, so my Web content is available under /share/Web.   If you create a new "backups" shared folder, for example, it should be available under /share/backups.  You could try specifying that destination directory for your SFTP backups.

  • Iphoto keeps quitting unexpectedly when trying to share photos on Facebook.

    iphoto keeps quitting unexpectedly when trying to share photos on Facebook.This only started a short while ago. I never used to have issues posting pictures before. Moreover, it also tells me there are issues with my library and prompts a "repair" of my iphoto library. This is scary - I have tons of pics and I'm not ready to lose any of them! I did change cameras a month ago, but it is the same make as I had before - a Canon powershot SX150 IS. Could it have anything to do with it? Could it be the fact that I keep so many pictures in iphoto (10,000 +)?

    How to backup? You should be doing regular backups - if you are not you will lose all of yoru files and photos sooner or later
    If you are not ready to lose all of your photos then you need to pruchase an external hard drive and start backing up immdeiately - for simplicity I recoommend a Time Capsule and Time Machine - but any backup is better than none - I do two daily
    For this simply make a temporary copy of your iPhoto library
    Will it fix the FB problem - hopefully

  • New CS4 features

    At Dave's suggestion, I'm starting a thread for discussing new scripting
    features is CS4. I'd divide new features into three categories: 1)
    improvements/additions to the InDesign DOM, 2) improvements to the ESTK,
    and 3) improvements/additions to ScriptUI.
    I'll start off this thread with one improvement on each of these fronts.
    (There are lots...)
    Category 1:
    There's a new isValid property for all InDesign objects. This is
    something that's been in the SDK for ever, but only made its way into
    the scripting DOM of CS4. This means that instead of try/catch every
    time you're trying to figure out if an object is valid, you can just write:
    if(myObject.isValid){DoMyStuff()}
    or,
    if(! myObject.isValid){return}
    This is a small thing but in my book it's huge!
    Category 2:
    There's a new function panel in the ESTK which shows all the functions
    in the current script and makes navigating to the functions very easy.
    Category 3:
    There are now keyboard and mouse events, so you can now create widgets
    which do everything the built in dialog scripting widgets do (and a
    whole lot more!!!)
    Harbs
    http://www.in-tools.com

    Noel, nothing wrong with Roy's posts for me (using the default web interface). It may just be you :-)
    Talking about interfaces, please don't comment on this one. It does the job, innit? (I'm sure someone else could do better with ScriptUI. Go ahead.)
    var myStyleList = new Array;
    for(c = 1; c < app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.length; c++)
    if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.item(c).otfStylisticAlternate == true)
      name = "[+] ";
    else
      name = "[-] ";
    name += app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.item(c).name;

  • Have you used the new workflow features in CM 12?

    In CM 12.0, users can optionally deploy the standard
    approval processing or new flexible, workflow approval
    processing based on the project and/or document. Have you
    used the new workflow features? Do you think the new
    workflows will allow your organization to better drive and
    control internal and multiple party reviews?

    I was one of those users who fight for this
    functionality.
    I find using it however very
    unhandy.
    Let me give you real
    life examples:
    1. Once you
    create an order/contract and do not choose "New
    Method" you cannot change approval method to new any
    more. Imagine one of my users was creating an order
    with 120 items (hell of typing!) then she spotted that
    she cannot send it with new review process to several
    reviewers in sequence. The need for retyping it makes
    5 other ppl already against this software, even if
    they did not used it at all.
    2.
    Document Owner has admin rights.
    For some
    reason user needs to be document owner in order to
    setup review process. Imagine in our situation usual a
    site assistant, or junior person in technical office
    is responsible for creating and typing all the
    orders/contracts. So this person needs to be Document
    Owner in order start review.
    Document owner
    however can also approve/reject in name of other users
    mentioned in review cycle. This I find strange and
    make entire new review/approval cycle worthless, as
    the situation is still that anyone can approve someone
    on someone behalf with no control.
    <br
    />3. Alerts missing. I couldn't find an alert that
    would be generated if a document is held internal (by
    user) for more then ... x days.
    <br
    />4. I'm also missing a Project Setting for "all
    documents must use new review process"; "defoult
    reviewers is + 'All in sequence' + 'list of reviewers'
    - for each kind of document.<br /><br />If
    you want to force users to follow a strict
    methodology, and your software gives them chance to
    choose whomever they want, wherever they want, use any
    approval method, approve on someone behalf ... you
    will finally fail.<br /><br />I keep
    hearing that Primavera sold thousand of licenses, and
    they will develop this product, I just hope they will
    hurry, before users switch to other software.<br
