New book themes for  '08?

Why doesn't Apple provide the new themes in 09 for 08? Does that mean they will print lower quality books just because I haven't upgraded? I cant see the printing method change just for books made in iPhoto '08. Can anyone explain this one to me?

Why doesn't Apple provide the new themes in 09 for 08?
Because they want you to upgrade. They see it as a way to encourage you to buy the new product.
Does that mean they will print lower quality books just because I haven't upgraded?
Not at all. The books will be of exactly the same quality, they'll just have different designs available.
I cant see the printing method change just for books made in iPhoto '08
They won't.
Can anyone explain this one to me?
Did I?

  • How to get murrine dust theme to work? (new concept theme for ubuntu)

    hello!
i just want to try and install the new concept theme for ubuntu - DustTheme!
but i don't get it to work. it uses the murrine-engine - but when i want to select it via gtk-chtheme or gtk2_prefs it does not sets the colors or anything else. when i hit apply, the standard ugly gtk-theme will be selected.
anyone here who actually uses the theme?
    more information:
    DustTheme Ubuntu Wiki
    installed packages:
    gtk-engine-murrine 0.53.1
    also tried: gtk-engine-murrine-svn rev 94
    please help, thanks...
    bye iggy

Hrm, I'm not quite sure what you mean.  I don't see "profile" anywhere in the gtkrc - everything seems to be labeled as "style" already.

  • Where can I find additional book themes for Aperture?

I've made a few books with Aperture, which I've enjoyed and which turned out very well.  However, I'd like to find more book themes.  (A current need is a theme that is better suited for an actual travel journal with more text.)  I've spent a couple of hours on Google and poring over the Apple sites related to Aperture, to no avail.  I'm sure =someone= offers new themes, free or not.  Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

I don't know of any themes, but there are photobook plug-ins for Aperture. These will create books for third-party print services:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/resources/third-party-books.html
If you want to print using Apple's print services, try to modify the available themes by saving custom master pages.

  • How to install new themes for GDM?

    Hello guys,
where can I find the related directory to extract new GDM themes for Gnome 2.26?
    Thanks

Personally there is no such entry...
Do I have to install gnome-system-tools to have this possibility?
Currently I only installed gnome and gnome-extra.
did you say 'yes' to all? i may be confusing the name of the entry, too. it's in the administrative tab in the menu (whatever it's called. 'system', maybe. usually the last one on the right) and it's usually something like 'login manager'. you might want to look at the menu editor and see if it's been somehow unchecked from the menu.

  • How can I create or customize an iPhoto book theme?

I am looking for a way to make a new book theme in iPhoto, so a group of photographers can create portfolios with a consistent style. I have had complete success doing this with Aperture, but not everyone has Aperture!
So far, for iPhoto, I have done the following:
    1. Copied one of the existing themes in /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes;
    2. Renamed all the files, and references to files to my new theme name;
    3. Copied the necessary files in the /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes/Shared folder.
This works, in as much as I see the new theme in the choices in iPhoto. However, the pages are blank, and not editable. The only way to make them editable again is to change the "CFBundleIdentifier" back to an existing theme, eg "com.apple.framework.iPhoto.Contemporary-Hardcover"
I have scoured the system, and I can not see any frameworks folders or files identified by iPhoto themes. Is "com.apple.framework.iPhoto.Contemporary-Hardcover" a call to a compiled function in the program itself? In other words, is this something only Apple can alter, or does anyone have any new leads for me to follow?

This is not an exact match of what you point to as an example, but you might conisder it...
    http://www.flashxml.net/cover-flow.html
Play with the various adjustments and see if it is something you can use.

  • Aftermarket book themes?

Is there any way to get new book themes into Aperture? I'm currently trying to design a 10x10 photo book. I'm using a custom layout obviously, but that also means I have no built-in themes to start from. Using Aperture 2.x, but willing to move to 3.x if that helps my situation any.
I would love to have some pre-built book templates for babies, children, vacations. But I don't use Apple to purchase my books from (usually Pounds Photo Labs or Black River Imaging).
I know there are four vendors that have plug-ins (for example, Graphi Studio), but those four are all well beyond my budget for a photo book. But, it might be that I can use Aperture 3 with the Graphi Studio plugin to do a 10x10 book and export the pages as JPGs.....

there are some available through this site:
    http://www.macmethod.com/ApertureBooks
but in general, yes. i think apple needs to include more designs in the application!

  • New ksplash theme - archlinux-modern

I've put together a new ksplash theme for KDE 3.x which uses the newest official Arch Linux logo art:
It's available here for now.  As soon as I can either get it hosted or figure out how to get my host to accept connections via makepkg/wget, I plan on submitting it to the AUR.  Please let me know if it's worth the effort.
    Until then, to use:
    1. Unpack the file - you'll get ./archlinux-modern-ksplash-1.0/archlinux-modern/ as a directory structure.
    2. As root, copy the ./archlinux-modern directory and its contents into /opt/kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes and then exit the root session.
    3. Fire up the KDE Control Center, go to the Appearance & Themes section, and run the Splash Screen configuration module.
    4. Select archlinux-modern and hit Apply.
Please enjoy, and thanks in advance for any feedback.

    It's now available on AUR:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18653
    Please enjoy, and thanks again!

  • No themes available when creating a new book in iPhoto 08

    I cannot create a new Book in iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5 (378).
When the dialog opens, the Book Type ComboBox is empty. If I press the Choose button, a new error dialog appears with the message: "No Available Themes".

Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation.

  • How do I turn on my wireless keyboard and make it 'discoverable'?  I got a message that the batteries were low, so I changed them for new ones and now the keyboard doesn't work.

I got a message saying that the batteries were low, so changed them for new ones and now the keyboard cannot be 'found'. There seems to be no way to turn it on and make it 'discoverable' to the system.  At the moment I'm typing this on a spare keyboard plugged into the  back of my mac via a USB.  Please help!

Have you checked to make sure the batteries are inserted the correct way? Have you tried to turn it on by pushing the right upper (round) edge of the keyboard - if you do that, do you see a tiny little green light? Since you have a wired keyboard, can you get to the Bluetooth setup/preference pane so you can manually try to sync the keyboard?
