  • No CD drive on new computer- importing songs?

We had to get a new computer after a rather dramatic computer desctruction. One problem- the laptop my wife picked out doesn't have a cd drive. My entire library is on my ipod, but half of them are imported from cd, not purchases. Is there any way to make sure that those songs get imported to itunes when I install it?
    Thanks

By "a rather dramatic computer desctruction", I assume you mean the old PC is no longer available? To the point you cannot even put its hard drive in an external enclosure and get your tracks?
If that is the case, and you have no backup, make sure that ipod doesn't get dropped, lost or stolen before you buy a 3rd-party ipod manager and get the tracks from it!

If there is any way you can use the old hard drive, my advice is to do that so you will have a backup for all your important files. Not just itunes, but irreplaceable digital photos, email contacts, browser favories, etc.
Video on doing that - you would just have to take the old hard drive out before proceeding

  • Computer crashed, ipod synced to new computer, purchased songs are gone.

My computer crashed. I used EphPod to download my ipod mini onto the new computer. It looked like all the songs were transfered so when I went to resync it in Itunes, I clicked "erase and resync". Then a window popped up saying that some songs wouldn't be transfered because the computer was authorized to play them. I clicked resync anyway since I have no way to deauthorize the computer that crashed. I thought EphPod had downloaded the purchased songs. It didn't. Is there any way I can retreve my purchased songs? Are they stored in my Itunes account or something?
    Thank you for your help.

The policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. • New Computer, No songs on my account?

I recently got a new computer and downloaded the latest version of iTunes on it. I've had an account for a little over a year now and have bought many songs through my account. When I sign into my account, on my new computer, none of the songs I bought show up in my library. My last computer quit playing the songs I had downloaded as it stated, 'it couldn't find the song on my computer', now they're not even showing up. How can I reload these songs again so that they'll show up and play on my new computer.

*When I sign into my account, on my new computer, none of the songs I bought show up in my library.*
If you want your purchased songs on other computers you have to copy them from the one they were originally downloaded to, they don't download automatically to other computers you log on to: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
If you still have the original computer you could try finding the lost purchases: iTunes Music Store: Finding missing music and video downloads
If you have completely lost the songs from the original computer and you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once

If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • New Computer, lost disc, have serial, can I put on new computer

Does anyone know if I can download the software for elements 2.0 from their site. I have my serial number, lost the disc and want to install in n my new computer.
I just got 7.0 and dont like it, it doesnt have the photomerge that 2.0 elements had.
    any help is greatly appreciate

PSE 2.0 is long gone from the Adobe site, but you could probably get a cheap copy on eBay. Or, just take this as a chance to upgrade. Photomerge was improved in PSE 3.0, but I don't know whether they made any further enhancements in PSE 4.0 for Windows.

  • Installed itunes on a new computer but songs aren't in library - help?

I have a new computer and downloaded itunes and authorized it but now I have no songs in my library. What else do I need to do to get the songs to transfer?
    Thanks.

You need to move the files manually, or transfer them via an iPod or similar Apple device, or follow these instructions.

  • New computer - 300+ songs I purchased won't transfer!!!!!

Help! In anticipation of buying a new computer, I copied my I-Tunes library on to an external hard drive. I have now loaded my library on to my new computer. After connecting my I-Pod, only about half my songs transferred, and I got a message saying that 300+ songs (that I paid for by the way!) cannot be transferred because they were on another computer. I assume I-Tunes thinks I'm sharing songs, but surely Apple realizes that people buy new computers! It's too late for me to use my I-Pod "in reverse" to transfer the songs on to my new computer (and nowhere in my I-Pod manual did it suggest that I needed to do so). How can I retrieve all these songs I paid for?????

Ipod Mini   Windows XP   Lap Top

    Hello Miz C,
As I said in answer to your other post, pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes or one with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. Unless you have the original PC to connect back to the songs you had are gone. You could check out what data recovery programs are on offer but I have no experience of any to fully recommend.

  • I synced with new computer, lost apps. reinstalled but Office HD docs that we're not lost when I reinstalled will not cut and paste. Will I need to use only new documents to cut and paste?

I synced my IPad2 with a new computer and lost all apps. I reinstalled apps. When I reinstalled the Office2HD, all documents were still ther, but I am trying to cut and paste one and it is not allowing? Will I need to save new documents there for this function to work?

       1. Open the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe). You can do that by typing msconfig at the Start screen and pressing Enter.
       2. On the Services tab, set the Hide all Microsoft services check box and then click Disable all.
       3. On the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager, right-click and disable each Startup item. Then close Task Manager.
       4. Back on the System Configuration screen, click OK, and restart the computer.

  • Have New Computer - Some Songs wont copy because not authorized user

I just bought a new computer and moved all my songs over. When I sync up, most of the songs copy over, but there are about 54 that wont. i get an error message that states "Some of the items in the iTunes Library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer"
    What am I doing wrong.

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes, or play one of those songs on your computer; when prompted, provide the username and password associated with your iTunes Store account.

  • New Computer - Some Songs Not Authorized

Hi. I switched my iTunes library over to my new computer. It went well, except it now tells me that 23 of my purchase songs can't be played because my computer is unautorized to play them.
So, (already logged in) I authorize the computer, which it says is successful.
I then go to play the song and it says the computer isn't authorized to play it...lol
Any ideas? The same thing happened when I upgraded to iTunes 7 for the first time and there was an issue with me switching from an AOL account to and Apple account.
I emailed apple support and they resolved the issue, but can't seem to find a support email address anywhere on here, so thought I'd try the forums....
    Thanks for any help.

You are correct. Apparently it is asking me to authorize under my old AOL account information. Unfortunately, that account no longer exists. The password does not work.
This was the same problem I described in the original post. I emailed support and they "consolidated" my accounts under my appleID. Apparently, transferring the library to a new computer somehow screwed that up.
Does anyone have an email address for support. That was the way I was able to get it fixed last time. Thank you for the reply and any additional help.
