Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. There is no Pages 5.05 and you will regret converting your old files to the new format.
Pages 5.2.2 can not open Pages '08 files, you will need to Export the Pages '08 files to Word .doc/x.

I have a 2008 Mac Book Pro 15" that I just installed a new solid state 256g hard drive into last night using OS X Yosemite. I just installed iWork 08 from my original disc and now when I try and open a numbers (excel) file that I had created previously its blank except for the email link I created and the response time is very slow for scrolling or right clicking. Is the problem that iWork 08 isn't compatible with Yosemite? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For Numbers '09 to run smoothly under recent OSes, you need to apply the following updater.
iWork 9.3

* If your Numbers '09 is not from iWork '09 DVD, the updater above would not work because the updater assumes supporting libraries are at
/Library/Application Support/iWork '09
which is the case with the DVD version of Numbers '09 whereas the MAS (Mac App Store) version of Numbers '09 contains supporting libraries in its own application bundle.

PS. If you're not using the latest Numbers v3, you may simply delete it from your disk so that it will no longer mess up the files created with older versions of Numbers.

Just got a new computer running windows vista home premium. I downloaded itunes with no problems, ran it, no problems. Then turned off my internet connection and computer. Next time I turned on my computer, I could not connect to the internet. There is no problem with the ISP or the computer (all have been checked). If I uninstall itunes, everything is back to normal, internet connection is fine. I have tried a few times to install itunes (which is easy to do), but my computer will not let me access the internet while itunes is installed on the computer. Any ideas as to why this happens and what I can do about it? Many thanks for any help anyone can give.

Look into the Security control panel for the firewall settings and the list of applications allowed to access the Internet. I think you can tap the Windows key and type "firewall" to be shown the panel immediately.
I just got a new computer with Vista Home Premium too. The first time I ran iTunes, Windows brought up a Windows Firewall warning asking me if I wanted to allow iTunes through. People tend to blow by these popups but they're very important. Often Windows will not ask again, and you have to go digging to get to the option later. Reinstalling the app won't necessarily help because Windows would think that the app you already blocked is just trying to get through again, so it blocks it again.
When I view the list of permitted apps for the Windows Firewall, I see many entries with "iTunes" in the name, each probably governing a separate network feature (sharing, purchasing, artwork, track lookup).

I followed directions for Nortons firewall -- I also downloaded Network Magic.
Last night I ran ipconfig on both computers and didn't change anything but they both came on-line. Not sure what or why but they were at least working.
Just now I followed directions for Nortons firewall on new computer which has 2008 I believe........then downloaded Network Magic and installed on both PC & laptop.
The only difference is the version of Norton which os '05 on the laptop. I see a secure connection - WPA - on both computers.
New question: I have a 3rd computer, an older PC which is connected direct to the router. This is primarily for my husband to use for e-mail and browsing the web -- no need to share any files and it has a separate printer. Should I also run Network Magic on that computer or leave it as is?

With my old computer I could easily download video clips, they would open and play as soon as the download had ended. Now I have to click on the download box and click on "Play". Also, when I wanted to keep a clip, I just right clicked and a menu appeared and I would then click on "Save as" or similar. Now there doesn't appear to be any way to save the clips. Apart from a faster and more powerful computer I feel I've gone backwards. Can anyone help?

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.
