New Connection Nightmare

Question

Ok so i have just changed to BT from BE.
The change took place around 11am on the 9th of May and i was getting a very solid 6mb+ up until the change. 
Since then it has been an absolute nightmare with using the internet being a pointless excercise for long periods of time. Pretty much the best i have had in that time is short spells with 1mb dl speeds.
As i was getting solid 6mb+ previously i very much doubt anything has happened to my line at exactly the same time as the broadband was changed, i have however done a quiet line test and that seems fine. 
I was aware that there might some variable speeds at the start however i was not aware that variable = hardly usuable!!!
Both my wife and myself rely on a good connection for work...we are now entering day 3 of shocking broadband service, I tried on line help and they said nothing could be done for 10 days!!! to be honest i am not prepared to suffer this level of service for 10 days.....variable speeds is one thing....usless broadband is another.

 this is the speed test i did last night - speeds are the same today
i have also tried the usual cable checks etc but nothing has changed
so at the moment i am on the verge of canceling and going back to BE :-(

PROGRESS !!!
I connected to the test socket and via ethernet cable - 11.75mb dl (a quick test on speedtest.net) ...went back to the master socket and the nightmare again....then back to the test socket and 11.67 mb dl :-)
so it looks like the issue could be down to the front plate on the box

error seconds look high is that due to me disconnecting and reconnecting to the test/master socket?
also will i be able to buy a new front plate for the master box to resolve the problem?
