"New" document title

I'm writing a format plug-in that embeds the filename into the file header (8 characters of it, anyway). When I access the FormatRecord->fileSpec->name I get the ~PS....tmp name. When I use PIGetDocumentName() function I get the old name (before the user enters a new name). Is there somewhere else I should look? Is the fileSpec->name changed to the user's entry after a particular point or only after the file has been written?

Run this huge script :
--{code}
property title_len : 32
tell application "Pages"
          tell document 1
                    set newName to (characters 1 thru title_len of body text) as text
          end tell
          set name of document 1 to (newName & ".pages")
end tell
--{code}

  • History report page prints before printing each new document?cc=us

    How do i stop my HP Officejet 6700  Premium from printing a history report page before printing each new document, using Windows 7 & Using Microsoft Word? When I open a document and print it, it prints a history including: File Name; Directory; Template; Title; Subject; Keywords; Comments; creation Date; Change Number; Last Saved On; Last Saved By; Total Editing; Last Printed On; As of Last Printing....
    Everything worked perfectly for a year, then I had to reinstall the printer because I deleted it by mistake. I cary it with me when I travel to meetings and didn't have my install disk, so I had to download the install software. I haven't changed any settings in Word, but it appears that the report is generated from Word.
    Help will be appreciated. I can't find any other topic like mine to see an already presented solution.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    The report indeed being generated by Word and not by the pritner driver.
    As you did not clarify your MS Office version I included the steps for Word 2010, I believe the same should also apply for Word 2007:
    From Word click the File menu, then select Options.
    Select Display from the left pane.
    Under the Printing Options sections, uncheck the box next to Print document properties.
    Click OK and try printing again.
    If you cannot find the specific option, please clarify your exact Microsoft Wiord version.

  • Acrobat Pro X Replaces Document Title with File Name

    We process many Microsoft Word Documents into PDF. Whether or not this is the correct way to process them we use the new "Action" previously a Batch Process.
    We require our documents to open "Full Width" so we run the created Action which converts the Word files to PDF and sets them to open width.
    In the previous version of Acrobat (9) this worked fine. But the current version strips the document title out of the Word document and replaces it with the file name in the PDF. eg. If the title of the document set in the properties of world.doc is "Changing the world", when the action created the PDF its stripped and replaced with "world.doc"
    This of course means that we must now take the time to change the title of each document so that the search engine on our intranet can correctly list it. As you can imagine a time consuming process, which until this update never had to be done.
    Alternatively is there a better way to convert large numbers of Word documents to PDF that will keep all of this information intact?
    Many thanks
    Murray

    Actions are not really intended for that type of work:
    Actions allow a complex, guided series of events to be applied to a single file, usually with some user interactivity. They can be run over and over but usually only process one file at a time. In the example we show based on redaction, this guided interactivity is essential as only a human can decide what to redact in each document.
    Batch processing applies a standard set of events to a series of files, usually without any user interactivity beyond selection and filename choices.
    What happens when you try and run your Acrobat 9 batch sequence in Acrobat X?

  • Changing Document Titles in Templates

    Hi all
    I know this must be something I am missing that is easy - but
    I cannot figure out how to change my Document Titles in files that
    are using a single Template. They cannot be edited in the file, as
    they are locked in the Template. How do I unlock the Title in the
    Template so I can make the Document Titles different? This must be
    an easy one - I've just been working too long today and am under a
    deadline.
    Thanks for the help -
    Q

    A properly made template will allow you to edit your child
    page document
    titles. The fact that you cannot means you have not used a
    properly made
    template. To see what I mean, do this -
    Create a new page.
    Use FILE | Save As Template..., and give it a name.
    Look at the code - see the editable region around the
    <title> tag? That's
    what yours should look like.

  • Change default magnification of new documents?

    When I have a document displaying at 100% on my 24" iMac, it doesn't display at anywhere near 100%. This can be proven by holding up a piece of paper next to the display. An AppleWorks document set up as 8 1/2 x 11 in Page View has to be magnified to about 130% to be the same size onscreen as an actual 8 1/2 x 11 document.
    Why is this? Is it because of the higher resolution of the monitor? I still don't see why this should matter. Actual size should mean actual size.
    This being the case, is there any way to set AppleWorks so that new documents will be displayed at 130% by default?

    AppleWorks was originally written to display at 100% on a screen with a fixed dot pitch of 72 dpi. The code to accommodate a variety of screen resolutions was never implemented (and probably never written).
    You can create a default template with your own parameter settings, including default magnification.
    Open a new word processing document and set the parameters as you want them to be, then press command-S.
    Click the Template radio button at the bottom of the Save dialogue. AppleWorks will navigate to the Templates folder where this should be saved.
    Name the document "AppleWorks WP Options" (without the quotes). AW will supply the correct extension.
    Click Save.
    New WP documents will adopt the parameters you set for this template.
    The process is similar for other types of AW documents; substitute the two letter code that shows in the title bar for "WP" in the instructions above.

    Barry

  • DW - DOCUMENT TITLE - ICON/LOGO IMAGE

    Most websites viewed in I.E. clearly display a small

    See the tab for this site as an example: the viewer using

  • Document Title Variable Text for Footer

    I am fairly new to InDesign and did as much searching as possible before posting this. I took a three-day class for InDesign, but we never got into variables.
    This is for a technical document template I am creating. What I am trying to do is create a text variable that pulls the "Document Title" from the File Info. This variable would put the document title in the footer of every body page in my document.
    Thanks for any help!

    I took it to mean the data in the indicated field inthe XMP data below:
    You get here by choosing File Info from the File menu in ID, or you can acess it through Bridge, I presume. By default this field seems to be blank, and you get to enter anything you like into it, so it might or might not be the same as the filename (I asked earlier if it was because I hadn't done any investigation and wondered if you had).

  • Refresh document title on change

    Hi!
    Does anyone know how to refresh document title on change?
    I have master.jsf with
    <af:document title="#{someBean.activeDocumentTitle}" id="documentRoot">In method activeDocumentTitle I get currently active tab, and get its title. Then I build
    activeDocumentTitle by concatenating application name and currently active tab title. Like so:
    "ActiveTab/ApplicationName".
    Problem is the document title does not refresh on new tab opening. If I refresh it manually (F5), document title has right value. Please help.
    I use JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0

  • Trying to save a new document and then "The file "lyrics project.pages-tef" couldn't be opened."

    As the title says...  Open Pages, Create new document, click Save, the dialog box comes up, I give it a name and select the Desktop as the destination, click OK, the dialog box disappears for about a second and then I get the above message.
    No way to save the doc.  I even copied the text, opened another new document, Renamed it and tried to save and same results.  It's a very simple document saved in Pages format, without involving iCloud so it should be as easy as it gets.  On top of that, I just want to Save.  Why is it trying to Open something???
    I ended up having to copy the text into an email and sending it to myself in order to copy it into a SimpleText file.
    Any ideas on what might have been going wrong?
    MacBook Pro 13, OSX 10.8.2, current version of Pages.
    Thanks much.
    Bo

    That is the iCloud version of the document as I understand it. There is a version saved on the Net for iCloud to be shared and a local version on your hard drive. One of those is currently inaccessible.

  • How to force a new document to check in using an event receiver

    Hello,
    I need someone to guide me how to achieve using an event receiver or any other method how to force a document to check in. I have some users that forget to check in their documents. I have a workflow that runs every time a new document is uploaded and check
    in to run an approval process. Hope anyone can help me with this.
    Best Regards,
    Fer

    You can check-in document in the ItemAdded event
    Example:
    namespace MultipleFileUpload.MultipleItemsAdded
    /// <summary>
    /// List Item Events
    /// </summary>
    public class MultipleItemsAdded : SPItemEventReceiver
    /// <summary>
    /// An item was added.
    /// </summary>
    private Guid siteID;
    private SPFile file;
    public override void ItemAdded(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    siteID = properties.SiteId;
    file = properties.ListItem.File;
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(siteID))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    base.ItemAdding(properties);
    SPListItem oItem = properties.ListItem;
    oItem["Title"] = "Please add a title.";
    oItem["Description"] = "Please add a description.";
    oItem.Update();
    if (file.CheckOutType != SPFile.SPCheckOutType.None)
    file.CheckIn("Automatic Check In");

  • Problems W/ "W3C Validators" -Do I Have To Upgrade, Or Can I Manually Fix Code In Each New Document?

    I am having some trouble with "Validators" (BTW, using an older version of Macromedia DreamWeaver MX  from 2002 I think) and wonder if I need an upgrade or I can just simply manually change the code that is put there by default when a new document is created? (It seems to be "breaking the linters" when I try to share those pages to Facebook, for example.)

    Hi and thank you!
    I forgot to mention that I'm on a Mac, and that "free Expression Web" link would probably show me what code I need to manually update (each time I create a new document). Would you be willing to tell me what part of this (old) code is wrong? New document default code is:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    The Vaildator keeps showing me this main error (among others) - which I do not have the savvy to understand:
    The character encoding specified in the HTTP header (utf-8) is different from the value in the <meta> element (iso-8859-1). I will use the value from the HTTP header (utf-8) for this validation.
    It shows that error even on a page containing *only* the code that I shared with you above.

  • New Document: # pages and start page?

    I am starting a new document, the beginning of what will be a 180 page ebook. In terms of the start page, do I use that to allow pages for my cover, title page, toc, etc.?
    Or can I just start with page one and insert pages later for the toc and all?

    Consider using the InDesign Book feature (File > New > Book...) with your document. This feature allows you to manage multiple InDesign documents, sync styles, inks, etc. and other controls.
    I have a long document book consisting of:
    Cover
    Main TOC document listing chapters and appendix
    10 Chapters (with chapter level TOC)
    Appendix of terms chapter
    The book allows for managing page numbers across the documents, the multiple TOC for each chapter (the chapter level TOCs do not pick up the Paragraph styles of the other chapters, whereas the main TOC is designed to search each document of the book), packaging, printing and exporting of the entire book, etc.
    If it interests you, check out Michael Murphy's long document videos at The InDesigner website.

  • I opened a new document and a popup messages says; "The document could not be autosaved."  Pages won't allow me to manually save or duplicate document.  What's up?

    I opened a new document in Pages 5.2 and a Pop up message appears; "the document could not be autosaved."  First time I have seen this.  Went to manually save the docement and another message appears; "the document "Untitled" could not be saved as "Project Portfolio" [my document title].  Then, Pages would not let me duplicate the document.
    I suspect something may be missing and I need to reload Pages.  Is there another way?
    Thanks

  • Creating a new document in Finder with right-click--How?

    Is there a way to create a new document in a Finder folder by right-clicking (or Ctrl-left)? So that the new file will be created at that very spot, in that very folder.
    In Windows-Explorer this was quick and easy. Just right-click and you could choose from a menu to create a new empty doc of the most popular (installed) programs. Text file was mandatory. The file was created where the curser was at. VERY handy as that way you didn't have to open the application, create a new doc and then when saving having to crawl your way all the way to the position in the Explorer/ Finder.
    Since I started with Apple and Tiger I've been missing this feature and Snow Leopard still does not seem to have it. Or did I miss something? I checked all the menue as well. There's not even a "Create new document". Only a "Create new folder".
    I was just reminded of this when I wanted to create a new file on an external drive on a server to save some text in it. There was no way other than first opening Textedit, saving the empty file on the local Mac, THEN transferring the empty file to the server. Only THEN I could open it and edit it.
    There MUST be a quicker way.
    Also, in Windows you could edit this list in the menu (and add programs that would not by themselves do this). Is there a way for the Mac?
    Cheers,
    Jay

    I might have just found a solution myself:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/10432377?messageID=10432377&amp%3b#1043237 7
    It seems other people are wondering too.
    And for those of you who don't understand why this is useful: Try it.
    Open Textedit, Apple-N, and then save the darned file somewhere deep in the labyrinth of the Finder where you've just been but withouth the file. It takes AGES.
    I, on the other hand -- at least in Windows --, right-click, new, double-click AAAND I'm on editing the file.
    VERY quick.
    It's beyond me why this is not possible on a Mac.

    In order to create a document type for a purchase requisition  use the path
    spro-materials management - purchasing--purchase requisitions --define  document type
    in that screen you select the document type you want to copy to create your document type and perform the action.
    if you want to change the screen/field selection for your document type select the field selection key (if you select the document type as NBB the field selection key will be NBB.,and go to the screen and change the field status.
