New email only works online

I setup my Wifes iPhone 4 with the new iOS5 this morning (said it did a backup, but this was empty and had to start phone from scratch again!, anyway....) - the mail address that was setup during the 'setup' procedure only works online when using icloud.com - I am unable to send or receive any mail to the new icloud / .me email from her iphone or any other device!?!
Am I missing something here?
Rick

Update: The problem seems to have corrected itsself (after 5 days of dealing with the issue)

  • Email Signature on New Emails Only

How do you configure your email signature so that it only attaches to new emails rather than new emails AND replies?   There is an option on Windows Mobile PDA devices to select "New Emails Only," but I do not see that option on a Verizon Blackberry Tour 9630.

Not an option on the BlackBerry... sorry.

  • Iphone 3G, Exchange mail - can't send new mail only works by reply

Before upgrading from 2.0 to 2.0.2 all worked like a charm with Exchange mail. Now I am not able to send new mail from iphone using Exchange account. When I try to do so, a send bar appears shortly, but no message is sent. When trying to forward a note from Notes application using exchange account, also applications closes down automatically.
The only viable option to send mail via Exchange is by replying to someone's message.
    How to deal with this?
I have tried to delete all accounts on iphone and re-establishe them. Doesn't work.

Discovered, that it is a problem connected to Contacts. If you are using Contacts or typing a new email address, New mail won't go.
If you however browse Exchange address book and select a person to send email to, that will work.
    Apple what happenedin 2.0.2?

  • Replying to emails doesn't work, but composing new emails does work

Using the standard iPhone email app, if I reply to an email, the screen will show "sending" at the bottom and will update the inbox with an arrow next to the email to show it has been replied to, but the email is not sent. It is not received by the intended recipient. It does not appear in sent items. It is not shown as in the outbox. There is no error message. The email just disappears, and the only evidence I replied is the arrow shown in my inbox.
However when I compose a new email from the same account it is sent as would be expected.
I would guess this started happening at some point in the last few days, though I can't be sure because it is failing silently.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This also happens intermittently on my iPhone 5. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Cannot receive new emails only one email from 2 days ago.

Thunderbird has been working fine - until yesterday when no new emails were received - the last one was dated 12/16. Today started Thunderbird and nothing newer was added (except the same email dated 12/16). When I click Get Messages - I get another copy of the 12/16 message. I can see newer messages via my server (comcast.net). I am running another account on another computer with TB program without problem. HELP!

  • I am able to read my emails (AOL), but unable to reply, forward and save or write new emails. Works OK in IE.

When trying to create an new email, I can enter information in the "To" and "Subject" boxes but in not the "Message" box.
Once I have read an email, If I click on "Reply" or "Forward", a new email form opens but with all boxes blank and again, I cannot write in the message box.
I also tried saving an email form (I didn't want to lose the email address I had typed in) but this also failed.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.

  • I have an old email associated with my apple store. It has been closed. How do I get the new email to work with my account?

I want to associate my old purchases with the new email and not loose my history.

You should be able to update the primary email address on your account either via the Store> View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes (there should be an Edit button to the right of your account id on your account's details page), or via http://appleid.apple.com - you might then need to log out of the account on each comuter/device and log back in with the new version to 'refresh' the account on them

  • Pls help - Thunderbird still can't recognise my new email - have followed online guides + set MX records but still can't get TB to recognise - spent over a day

    Hi,
I am trying to set up my new business email account (3rd party - netregistry from Australia) [email protected] onto my Thunderbird account.
I have new domain with wordpress exploreyogatravel.com
Trying to get new email onto Thunderbird - have set MX record for netregistry on wordpress. Have manually configured mail account on TB (pop/port/ etc) per netregistry instructions). Have spoken to netregistry on a number of occasions - they now feel it is at the TB or WP end.
TB still can't locate settings for my email account when I manually set up as following and I have wasted so much time on this.
    (incoming - pop3 - pop.exploreyogatravel.com - 995 - SSL/TLS - normal password
    outgoing - SMTP - smtp.exploreyogatravel.com - 465 - ssl/tls - normal password
username incoming - [email protected] outgoing - same)
Please help what I need to do to get this sorted.
    Regards
    Mariska

I think your latest issue will reside in your anti virus package.
Disable email scanning. The setup routine tries to connect to the server 8 ways to Sunday to establish the correct settings. The Anti virus program thinks there is mail coming, steps up to the plate and makes a total disaster out of something that was often not all the pretty anyway. To make matters worse, because of the quick fire scanning some then just decide it is malware trying to spam people and blocks it in the firewall.
Next check the firewall (particularly the pesky Norton one if installed) and ensure Thunderbird has full access to the internet. Auto is not sufficient. That is usually what got us where we are, manually fiddling with settings.

  • Signing emails only works intermittently - problem reproducible

    Good Afternoon,
I am two digital certificates from VeriSign/Symantec for use with my email. One is for digitally signing email, the other for encrypting email. I have both certificates installed in my login keychain and they are showing up in the "My Certificates" section.  I also have root and intermediate certificates for VeriSign installed in my login keychain.
When I open the Mail application and attempt to send a digitally signed email sometimes I have the option and sometimes it is grayed out. The problem is reproducible in an unusual way. If I am looking at my inbox and select an email in my inbox, any email, and then click "Compose" I am UNABLE to digitally sign the new message. If I am looking at my inbox and I don't have any message selected and click compose, I AM able to sign the email. Please note, I am not replying to a message, only creating an entirely new message.
I have been able to successfully send signed messages using the second method listed above, so I know my certificates work. I have removed the certificates, repaired the keychain, and reinstalled the certificates, and repaired the keychain again. No problems are ever reported with the keychain. I am restarted the mail application numerous times and restarted the system several times. I updated the OS and all software to the latest versions available. Here are some details about my system:
    Macbook Pro
    Mail application version 5.3 (1283)
    OS X 10.7.5
Also, two other individuals are having the same problem in my organization when using Macs, so I don't think this issue is due to my specific hardware configuration or my certificates. Thank you for your help.
    -Trevailious

First, the address associated with the S/MIME public key must exactly match the address to which you're trying to send the encrypted message. The matching is case-sensitive. "[email protected]" does not match "[email protected]".
The recipient's certificate must be valid: not self-signed, expired, or revoked. You can check the status of the certificate in Keychain Access (see below.)
If you can't encrypt messages to a valid address with a valid certificate, continue.
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
    Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid.
If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select Keychain from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
Quit and relaunch Mail. Test. If the problem isn't resolved, continue.
Export all S/MIME certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
    Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Test.
If the test fails, delete all the certificates again, then reinstall them from fresh copies.

  • Make the iPod NOT download emails (only view online)

Okay this is basically the situation.
I have a domain and hosting; the person in charge wanted to route that email through Gmail (using Google's domain tools, I think) for better spam protection and easier setup. I just got an iPod touch, and set up the email under Gmail, and in no time all the messages showed up in my box.
To test if the messages were stored locally or if it was viewed online and relied on the internet connection, I turned off the Wifi. The messages were still viewable, and I deduced that the messages had been downloaded to my iPod.
How can I make it so that I can only VIEW and SEND when I'm connected to the internet, and not make it store the info locally on my iPod?

you don't need to ask questions twice. bear in mind that these are world-wide user forums. the people who come on here aren't apple employees paid to sit and answer tecchy questions. they either have a problem, or have come here to help others. the vast majority of them have lives outside of Apple User Forums, and the one with your answer may be sleeping/working/living life at the time you post. in my experience, everyone here is very friendly and willing, IF they have the answer they will tell you, and if not they may try to make suggestions to solve your problem.
as to your question, i'm not sure how to do that, or if indeed it is possible. but i'm not sure how much space it takes up either, i've never been a massive user of email on the ipod, so am probably not the best person to help.
i might be wrong, but i think when i've deleted emails off my ipod, then logged into my account on a computer, they've still been there.

  • Email only works on Wi-Fi and Edge, not on 3G

My husband and I both have the iPhone 4. We run different versions of iOS (6.1 and 6.1.3 ) We both use different email providers (I'm with Gmail, he is not) but neither of us can send or receive email via 3G, only via WiFi and Edge.
Our 3G is definitely working because we can use it to browse the web, run Pandora etc.
    Things we've already tried:
    - Close all apps and restart phone
    - Change Fetch/Push settings
    - Reset  Network settings
Like I said, the only thing we have in common is the ATT data account, so it's not our email providers or iOS.

  • BPC Report emails only work from server (not client) - BPC v5.1

    Hi all.
Hope someone might have seen something like this before.
Basically, I setup our servers to send email from BPC about 3 weeks ago.
(NB - If it makes a difference, we use Lotus Notes via a Domino server)
The SMTP settings are all correct in BPC WebAdmin, the servers have been added to the allow list on the mail server and the port is open.
Anyway, when I try to send mail from a client (using the Offline Report Distribution Wizard), I get the following error:
"The transport failed to connect to the server".
At SAP's suggestion, I ran a test by installing Office and a BPC client directly onto the Web Server.
When I ran the wizard from the server, the email sent perfectly.
The problem I have now is that although I informed SAP of the test outcome, I haven't heard anything back in about 3 weeks, and I really need to get the reporting email system up and running properly.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this?
It's as though the system is telling the client to send the email itself, via the forwarding server, but this would mean allowing every user PC to access the mail server.
Hope you can help, but thanks for looking either way.
    Craig

    Hi Ludovic
The problem turned out to be mail server white-lists, due to the way that BPC sends emil.
Although you setup the email account/profile on the server, it actually sends from the client PC of whichever user makes the email request.
Our system is only configured to block all email requests with individual exceptions (ie a White-List).
It needed the PC of every user who would need to send email from the BPC system to be added to the white-list.
This is why it worked from the server, as we had added the server address to the list as part of the testing.
Not reall y a BPC problem, more of an issue with functionality due to the method that it uses to send the messages.
    Hope that helps
    Craig

  • New iPod only works if mouse is unplugged and vice versa

Hey everyone, I've been reading around the boards and I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem as mine. I just replaced my 4G iPod with a new 5.5G 80GB Video (the 4G was experiencing the Freezing problem). Anywaym I first connected the iPod to my computer, and it wasn't recognized by both my computer and iTunes. So I started swapping USB ports and forgot to plug in my mouse, and then vuala! the iPod was being read.
So I plug my mouse back in and nothing, the mouse wouldn't function. So I unplug the iPod and then plugged in the mouse, and once again, magic. What the **** is going on with these devices? When they're both plugged in, the iPod doesn't even show up in the Device Manager so I can't change the drive letter or anything.
I wouldn't be as bitchy about this problem if iTunes was easily controllable via keyboard commands, but it isn't, so it's virtually impossible to add new songs or remove songs from my iPod.
    Custom Build   Windows XP

Sorry for the double post, but I was wondering if this solution would work:
I don't need to have my iPod plugged in via USB all of the time, I can use the AC Adapter, and say I want to transfer songs over from my hard drive to my iPod, I'd be able to transfer those songs/videos from one Hard Drive, to another Hard Drive right?
So would I be able to transfer my stuff to one of my internal hard drives, swap my HDD with my iPod, and then transfer the songs/videos into the iPod from the other Hard Drive? And then when it does transfer, I'd be able to remove the songs from the internal hard drive, and then manage the playlists through the external drive, right?

  • New email in notification center only if it's exchange?

    Hi,
I've recently changed my iPhone's e-mail settings so gmail is IMAP instead of Exchange. This is so Mail can use all my email aliases without crazy workarounds. However, I'm no longer seeing any new emails coming in via the notification center, e.g. on the lock screen. I see them come in with another account that's remained exchange.
This has prompted the question: are new emails only shown in the notification center if they come from an exchange account?
    Thanks if you can help.

    Solved.
It does work with IMAP as well. However, any e-mails bypassing Mail's inbox, will not be displayed in notification centre. This is a problem for me as I use filters to divert everything into folders. Works fine with Exchange because you can choose to push certain folders. That said, IMAP is a better option for me because of aliases and the need to send from them as well. So it looks like I'll have to think creatively about my filters or cut down the folders.
Thanks to everyone for trying to help.

  • Mail not showing new emails

    Hi all
Since installing Lion my Mac mail program has undergone some changes, mainly for the better, but one is really bugging me.
When i received new mail under Leopard i used to get a blue dot by the inbox etc and a number count on the mail icon in the taskbar.
Now i don't get either unless i select count all boxes in the prefferences which is good except any mail in other boxes does not get hightlighted so i have to search manualy throught them to find the unread mail.
    Anyone else having this problem?
I have tried rebuilding, selecting inbox only and all boxes to be counted but still have same problem.
The new email sound works but nothing visual.!!!
    Cheers
    Kev

any luck with your problem TSG?
