New How-to Guides on GRC 10.0 available

Hi GRC folks,
just to let you know that the first three documents have made it on BPX.
Just go to http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/grc -> Key Topics u201CAccess Controlu201D
Of course the docs are also visible in the article search on BPX.
There is more to come after they have been reviewed, so be patient.

Simple how-to guide to adding windows 7 64-bit to mavericks as a virtual machine (Virtual Box)
Why use a Virtual Machine: Sometimes you need to run a windows only program.  A VM lets you do that without rebooting your machine.
How is it different from Mac Boot Camp: Boot camp allows you to run windows but you must reboot your machine. It is faster and smoother than a VM (and with fullscreen details below), but you have to reboot for each use.
Is it possible to have a VM and Boot Camp: Yes, and I do this because sometimes I want to use a VM quickly without shutting down, sometimes I want the advantages of Boot Camp
How do I get Windows in Boot Camp: how-to here:

Locate your image (iso) file, example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
Download Virtual Box Virtual Machine Player:
    https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
    Install Win 7 OS:
    Open Virtual Box
Choose “New” (Note: Once you click new it will require you to complete the process of creation, no option for quit.  If you make a mistake or are not ready, just finish it and then remove it and delete all files)
Name: “Windows 7 Virtual” or as you choose
    Type: Microsoft Windows
    Version: Windows 7 64-bit
Memory: I suggest 1GB if you have 4GB available, 512 MB may run slowly.  2GB+ of 4GB may slowdown your MAC OS running while the VM is running.
“Create a Virtual Drive Now” option
File Size: 25 GB should be the minimum selected, I used 25GB because I expect to use the drive to store very little.
    HD type: VirtualBox Disk Image
    Storage: Dynamically Allocated
Locate your new VM and click Start (again you will not be able to quit once you start, if you make a mistake continue until the red quit icon appears then remove the VM)
It will ask you to select the files for the OS.  Select the ISO file, for example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
Proceed to setup Win with your preferences
Type product key from your OS purchase or an existing one that you are moving from another machine
Note: Screen resolution may be very limited on the virtual machine.  I use resolution 800 X 600 so that all of the desktop is visible.
I suggest using a windows gadget to view the CPU and Memory usage > On desktop mac-right-click i.e. separate fingers and click both > Gadgets > CPU Meter
Enjoy having Windows on your Mac!

I have found a solution to the screen being smaller in the windows 7 virtual machine.  First right-click in the desktop region and select screen resolution.  It is probably set to 800 X 600 by default which is much less than the screensize you are using.  To determine your native screensize, go to your mac and finder > applications > utilities > hardware > graphics displays.  Mine is 1440 X 900 for macbook air.  Then go back into the virtual machine and sceen resolution settings.  Choose a screen resolution which is slightly less in all dimensions so that there is no clipping and you do not have to scroll when viewing.  For me this was 1152 X 864.  Then exit saving changes and with the VM in view press command - F (or at the menu bar View > Switch to full screen), which puts you in full screen mode.  Now you should have a screen with minimal gray empty space filling the majority of your screen

  • Master data on the fly - How to guide - Error

    Dear experts,
I am trying to implement the solution for creating master data on the fly in a data manager package as proposed in the how to guide for BPC 7.5 (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/f08895ab-f152-2e10-7d8b-950a8e5eba0c). We are on 7.5 NW SP 09 and apparently the included solution is not working properly.
The installation as explained in the how-to-guide was successful and all the files could be transported into the system. Furthermore I created the package as indicated.
When trying to execute the package and adding a new member in the costcenter dimension (P_CC) the package status is successful. Nevertheless no new masterdata was created.
I observed that in UJFS a new file gets created for P_CC.xml with the new dimension-members but the corresponding xlt and xls files are missing. After processing the dimension in BPC Admin the old structure returns along with the xls and xlt files.
It seems as if the delivered BADi (ZUJ_IMP_DM_MDOF) is not working properly. Did anyone try implement the proposed the solution already and what was your experience? Did some of you already experience a similair issue?
    Thank you and best regards
    Felix

    Hi Felix / Carlton,
Master data on fly is mainly based on retrieving / updating XML file of the respective dimension.
SAP BPC 7.5 with SP greater than 08 will not support.
    Kindly check the note 1696602..N
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • How-to guide?

    Hey all,
As I am totally new with flash media server, I have some
    questions.
Are there some good how-to guides (not the manual, but really
guides that explain step by step on how-to make an appliaction and
    make it work to)?
Cuz I need to create an application, that can stream video on
demand, and I have a hard time doing it,... :(

FMS developer center has lots of good references and sample
    apps.

apart from it you may also look into
samples/applications/VOD/ source that is included in FMS3

  • Forms 6i to 9i migration: FAQ/Detailed HOW-TO Guide?

    Hi,
I've reviewed the two Migration documents I've been able to find on OTN but they are not clear on a couple of matters:
1.) In my migrated forms, I have a few multi-line text items. The Carrige-Return/Linefeed characters are displaying as a
square box at teh end of each line. My forms started out on MS Windows 2000 and were ported to and re-generated on
Linux (where my 9iAS Rel 2 Middle-Tier lives). Is there a way to fix this?
2.) The info on converting RUN_PRODUCT to RUN_REPORT_OBJECT does not give much info on how to
create the REPORT_OBJECT. Should I be looking for a "Migrating to Forms 6i" guide?
In general, is there an FAQ or HOW-TO guide for the migration - a checklist of sorts - anywhere? I'm evaluating the
move from Client/Server to Webforms. Since part of this would involve the extra cost of one (or more) Application
Servers, I'll need to have a list of application changes - if the list is small enough, the benefits (web-deployment)
could outweigh the costs (application changes, new 9iAS licences.)
    Thanks for any help
    Ted

It could be bug:1012647 (which is infact not a bug).
The widget when running webforms is rendered in Java. It MAY be that the interprets CHR(10)+CHR(13) together to display a
chararcter instead of the a new line.
Try and have a look at the data and see if you have CHR10+CHR13 in the data, see if yuo can change this to CHR(10) only and see
    if that works.
For more info on running reports - see http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/277282.pdf
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Grant Ronald
Forms Product Management Thanks! I've noticed - with my eval version of a production system - that the sqaure box only seems to be displayed with PL/Sql generated text where I do use CHR(13)||chr(10). I'll look into a PL/Sql search-and-replace.
    Thanks again.

    Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/HP-Officejet-6500-E 709n-wireless-issue/m-p/258853
I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing.

Burn this image file (.iso) to a USB drive or DVD-R:
    USB drive:
Get a blank USB drive with 8 GB+ capacity
Format this drive to Fat32 (Windows and Mac shared format), this will erase the drive!:
    Finder > Applications > Utitilies > Disk Utility > Partition > 1 > Fat32
Extract the image file to the drive exposing its files:
Finder > Applications > Utilites > Boot Camp Assistant
Click both "Create a Win 7 or later version install disk" and "Download the latest windows support software from Apple" and advance
Locate your image (iso) file, example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
Destination disk is your USB flash drive that was formatted to fat32, if it does not appear it may be in the wrong format
Click continue, this process takes a long time (30 mins - 1.5 hour estimated), it may appear that it is freezing because progress bar stops at times, do not stop it, let it keep running.  If you are unsure it is still going, open finder > click the drive > get info, and look at the size of the files.  Then close finder wait a few seconds, get info again and see that file size is slightly larger.  The final file size was 4+ GB for me
    or DVD-R:
I have not used a DVD-R but this is how I expect it to work:
    Insert black DVD-R
Finder > Applications > Utitilies > Disk Utility > Burn
Locate your image (iso) file, example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
    Partition HD for WIndows 7:
Finder > Applications > Utilites > Boot Camp Assistant
Choose the 3rd option Install Windows 7
It will ask you to select a size of your Harddrive space for Windows OS, this will eat up some of the free space on your Mac HD.  How much space is enough for a Windows OS?  Depends on how many programs you plan to install on it.  If you are just using for surfing web and running MS Office, probably 30-40 GB is enough, and this is what I did.  Remember this space will be used up from your existing HD and not usable when you are in Mac OS.  This process takes about 10 mins I think
    Install Win 7 OS:
With USB drive in port or DVD in drive, restart laptop.
It will bring up the Win 7 installer on boot up
Select the OS type that you have a registered key for
It will ask you to find a HD to use for Win 7 OS:
Select the HD you just created, if you try to continue it will complain that HD is wrong format (because MAC formatted it to a MAC compatible HD, we will fix this)
Select the HD, there is a button to the right for "advanced" I believe is the text of it.  It will allow you to reformat the drive, choose NTFS which it requires.  Then proceed
Proceed to setup Win with your preferences
Type product key from your OS purchase or an existing one that you are moving from another machine
    Select Default Boot Drive:
By default it selects Windows as your default OS to boot at power up, most people want Mac OSX to be the default, so this can be changed:
Finder > System Preferences > Startup Disk > select Mac
Enjoy having Windows on your Mac!

Why use Boot Camp: Sometimes you need to run a windows only program.  Boot Camp lets you do that with the speed and smoothness of a full windows OS.
How is it different from Mac Virtual Machine: A VM allows you to run another OS simultaneously while you are running OSX, while in a window similar to any other application.  A VM is not as fast, smooth, and may have limited screensize/view.
Is it possible to have a VM and Boot Camp: Yes, and I do this because sometimes I want to use a VM quickly without shutting down, sometimes I want the advantages of Boot Camp

  • The old and the new - how to do it? cross post in Community.linux-User International

    Hello,
Currently I have Netware 6.5.7 SB suite/ has GroupWise.
I want to move to the Linux platform with OES2/NOWS.
The "Boss" wants to keep the current domain: [email protected]
He wants to change it to a new web site domain name:
    [email protected]
I already have the web site redirected.
Type in old domain name and it goes to new domain name.
He will however drop the old domain in a few months after all customers make
    the change.
I am sure that this happens to many companies that change their domain name.
    How can I do this?
Can I use my old server (GroupWise/Netware) with the old domain email
addresses and the new Linux server with the new domain address at the same
    time?
Alternatively, could somehow redirect all mail from the old email address to
    the new one?
The problem is, I have a lot of email on the older Netware server that I
    still need.
Could it be transferred to the Linux server?
Any advice that you can provide will be appreciated very much.
    Thanks for your time,
    Jim

When I send an email it shows up in the sent folder as new, how do I fix this so it shows it as read automatically?

I don't want all my mail to be marked as read, just the sent messages. I set Thunderbird up on my new PC and whenever I send an email it goes to my sent folder like I want, but it shows up as a new or unread message. I have Thunderbird on my two other PC's and it doesn't act this way. On the other PC's when I send out an email, it shows up in my sent folder as read. That's the way I want it to act on my new PC. With the other two PC's I didn't have to do anything to the setting it was like that from the start.
I appreciate any help I can get in this matter. Thank you
