New in 3.4 - ReplicatedCache startup timeout triggered while resyncing

Something changed from Coherence 3.3 -> 3.4 in handling or setting-up the start-up timeout of the ReplicatedCache service. There was no problem in 3.3 but in 3.4 the service start-up times out while resyncing caches. I found out that the time it takes to time-out is equal to the cluster's packet publisher's resend time-out (which according to recommendations should be set to max(60 sec, 2 * greatest GC pause). In my situation I set it to 5 minutes (with greatest GC pauses of about 1 minute or so). But with large caches this is not nearly enough (it takes up to 30 minutes to resync caches in my situation).
I worked arround the problem by creating a subclass of ReplicatedCache with an overriden getStartupTimeount() method and configuring it in the tangosol-coherence-override.xml in place of the default ReplicatedCache service.
Maybe a "startup-timeout" configuration parameter should be adequate here.
Peter

Hi Peter,
Yes, this is indeed a new "deterministic" behavior in 3.4. I will open a corresponding enhancement request.
The important question though is: why does it take so long to replicate the caches in a first place. I just tested a replicated cache with 200,000 objects (not optimized Java serialization) totaling 100MB and it took about 20 seconds to start a new node (relatively slow development machines). There must be something else going on in your environment if it takes so long to start a replicated cache service. Do you see any "remote GC" messages? What is the Publisher success rate during the start? Did you run the datagram test?
Regards,
Gene
Correction: I was wrong in the original suggestion that the service would not be stopped.

  • Timeout error while running Report

    Hi
    All,
    Windows 2000
    Oracle Report builder 10g
    Oracle developer suite 10g
    when I had OLD computer i was able to run report more than 10 minutes. Now, I got NEW computer and i am getting TIMEOUT error while running report more than 10 minutes.
    Any clue?
    Thanks,
    Vishal

    As Fs says it depends on how you're running the report.
    If you're running via a server then you need to make the change on that server or amend the URL you are using to run the report to add the enginereponsetimeout parameter.
    You can amend this parameter on the server either by using the Application Server Control as I described in my last post or by directly editing the config file. This file will be called <reportservername>.conf and can be found in the oracle_home/reports/conf directory.
    In this file look for the engine tag and see if the engineResponseTimeOut property is set.
    E.g:
    <engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1" maxEngine="4" minEngine="1" engLife="50" maxIdle="20" callbackTimeOut="90000" engineResponseTimeOut="5">
    </engine>
    This value is in minutes so increase to a time larger than that it takes to run the report.
    If instead you're running the report via Report Builder on your own PC then look for a file called rwbuilder.conf in the same location on your PC and make the same change as described above.
    If this property isn't in the file then the engine isn't supposed to time out at all so the problem may well be something different. But to discount it try setting to a large value like 30.

  • Outbound IDOC not getting triggered while new master data is created

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to trigger an outbound idoc for Cost Center master data when ever cost center is being created or cost center is being changed. (Usinf COSMAS)
    I have successfully made use of change pointers and now able to trigger the idoc when ever Cost Center is getting changed. But while creating new Cost center, IDOC is not getting triggered.
    I used the function module MASTERIDOC_CREATE_SMD_COSMAS for triggering the idoc.
    Could one of you please let me what would have gone wrong? Since IDOC is getting triggered while changing the master data but not getting triggered while creating new master data.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Vinoth

    Hello,
    when you activate BD21 for a message type, it creates a entry in the SAP tables. that these Cost Centers have been sent already and any susequent changes to this will trigger a IDoc.
    As for BD16, scheduling it wont help as, you need to specify the selection criteria, and i do not see how you will be able to dynamically get the selection criteria.
    Try BD95, and BD59 to create a change pointer for a field, so when ever this fields is modified (new/updated) an idoc will be triggered.
    regards,
    Abhishek

    The following line tells me that this is not a template file, but a document created from a template called index.dwt
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/index.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    This means that you saved a child document as a template file at some stage.
    If you go to Modify->Templates->Detach from Template, you can remove the template structure from your document. All you then need to do is to re-save the document as a template.

  • Msg regarding "Dgraph did not start in startup timeout of 120 seconds"

    Hi All,
    Baseline update failed with following error message.
    "WARNING: Component 'Dgraph1' did not start in startup timeout of 120 seconds.
    SEVERE: Server component 'Dgraph1' did not start in the allotted startup time.Refer to component logs in /usr/local/endeca/EndAppR7/./logs/dgraphs/Dgraph1 on host MDEXHost1.

    3| DgraphCluster.cleanDirs();
    4| DgraphCluster.copyIndexToDgraphServers();
    5| DgraphCluster.applyIndex();
    6|
    7|
    I've checked the dgraph1 logs and i don't see any difference than usual logs - like what i had yesterday.
    "all dgraph transactions completed"
    "Shutting down dgraph (pid=17398)"
    It had been running well as daily scheduled job since last 1 week.
    it has very small data to be indexed, just few MB.
    I've checked main application log, dgraphs logs, forge logs just in case, and process.0.log in PlatformServices. I don't see any useful detailed information to find out what causes this issue.
    And there was no locked flag on the application.
    to resolve this issue, i just started the Dgraph1 from Workbench and run the baseline update to make sure if it does not fail again. it ran well.
    But i'm wondering why... it happened.
    Can anyone kindly tell me the possible cause or where i can find out the root cause?
    Thanks,
    Edited by: julia on Oct 31, 2012 11:06 AM

    Julia,
    After you issue the start command (either as part of a baseline update or with a runcommand.sh Dgraph1 start), you should see your Dgraph1.log file (in [your_app_folder]/data/dgraphs/Dgraph1/) get updated with information related to dgraph startup.
    You should look there to see if your dgraph is actually starting in the 2 minute timeframe, the dgraph is up when you see the following line:
    pid=[SOME_NUMBER] listening for HTTP connections on port [SOME_NUMBER] at [SOME_DATE_TIME]
    If you don't see that, there is either an error starting the dgraph (you should see that in the same log file) or an error sending the command to start the dgraph (port 8888 not open, EAC Agent not running on the MDEX server, etc.).
    If you do see a successful message starting the dgraph, it's likely that the EAC Central Server (i.e. likely where you ran the command) was not able to determine that the dgraph started. It usually does this by issuing an admin?op=ping to the dgraph port so it's likely that port 15000 (or whereever your dgraph is running) is blocked between those two servers.
    Hopefully, that's enough for you to go on.

  • BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST is not triggering while creating/changing PO

    Hi,
    I am new to BADIs,
    I am trying to implement BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST in ECC 6.0. I have done the implementation and activated. I kept a break point in PROCESS_ITEM method, but the BADI is not triggering while creating or changing the PO. Please advice me what could be the reason behind this?
    I used the SQL trace but i couldn't get the BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST in the list.
    thanks in advance
    Regards
    Jagadish

    hello jagdish,
    implement   this user exit.....
    MM06E005...
    go to     EXIT_SAPMM06E_017   in that   then you can put a break point in the user defined function module.....
    or use
    BREAK  'C5133392'  (use your user in place of C5133392)....it will stop here while creating PO or changing PO...
    now you can do whatever you want to do in create or change PO using this function exit......
    perform the validations on import parameters.....to create  or change ....and activate the project....
    hope this will give you some idea and help

  • Patch 9239090 - ORA-04021: timeout occurred while waiting to lock object

    Hello Guys,
    I need help urgently to comlete an upgrade of ebs 12.1.1 to 12.1.3.
    We are upgrading ebs 11i to 12i going live this weekend. We have encountered "ORA-04021: timeout occurred while waiting to lock object" on patch 9239090 with two Workers:
    In adctrl:
    1 Run AutoPatch R120 AFUTLGRS.pls FAILED
    2 Run AutoPatch R120 AFUTLOGS.pls FAILED
    sqlplus -s APPS/***** @/u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/admin/OFPROD/out/p001invok.sql
    Connected.
    create or replace package wf_bes_cleanup AUTHID CURRENT_USER as
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-04021: timeout occurred while waiting to lock object
    I have done everything everything imaginable but cannot get pass these 2 failed workers.
    1) I have checked are there are no locks blocking on any objects:
    select s1.username || '@' || s1.machine
    || ' ( SID=' || s1.sid || ' ) is blocking '
    || s2.username || '@' || s2.machine || ' ( SID=' || s2.sid || ' ) ' AS blocking_status
    from v$lock l1, v$session s1, v$lock l2, v$session s2
    where s1.sid=l1.sid and s2.sid=l2.sid
    and l1.BLOCK=1 and l2.request > 0
    and l1.id1 = l2.id1
    and l2.id2 = l2.id2 ;
    2) I also checked and there is space in the database.
    3) From adctrl, I have tried restarting the jobs one by one but the worker 1 hangs at and eventually fails on several (12) attempts.
    4) The solution on Doc ID 1291064.1 is not the problem:
    SQL> select SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN, SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_PK, SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_UI, FORCE_LOGGING
    from v$database;
    SUPPLEME SUP SUP FOR
    NO NO NO NO
    5) Manual execution still gave ORA-04021:
    sqlplus -s APPS/apps @/u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/admin/OFPROD/out/p001invok.sql
    sqlplus -s APPS/apps @/u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/admin/OFPROD/out/p002invok.sql
    6) The alert log has no related errors
    7) I Finally, after over 6 hours of waiting, I could only get the patch to continue after by using adctrl option 8 to skip these two workers.
    After proceeding, I have yet hit two more errors and now stuck:
    I have hit another error with the same patch:
    create or replace package body FND_LOG as
    /* $Header: AFUTLOGB.pls 120 ...
    AD Worker error:
    ORA-04021: timeout occurred while waiting to lock object

    Not converting file for Invoker's Rights because it appears to be a package body creation script (based on the filename).
    File is: /u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/fnd/12.0.0/patch/115/sql/AFUTLOGB.pls
    AD Worker warning:

      This product is registered in the database but the above file does not exist in APPL_TOP.  The product will be ignored without error

    Can I stop and restart this patch 9239090?

    Hello,
    I later executed the failed jobs or scripts manually (successfully) for the patch to continue

    sqlplus -s APPS/apps @/u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/admin/OFPROD/out/p002invok.sql
    The patch ended with the following :

    what should iWell first of all you should stop using EXP for backups, it's quite unsuitable, and start using RMAN instead. Find out more.
    If you have a Metalink account you shoudl read Note:298968.1. But teh headline is there is a bug in 10gR1 which is fixed in 10gR2. This may not help you much. The workaround is to try running the export again later, which may not be any more helpful.

  • My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it

    My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it and has to be rebooted. I took it in to the Genius desk at my local store, but they couldn't find anything wrong and said that they have never seen this problem before.
    I Spoke to the IT support guy at work. He has the same problem with his new MacBook, but not with his older one. He suggested that it is a software issue with all new MacBooks and is connected to the timing of it going into sleep mode. Does anybody have a solution? Apple doesn't seem to have one.

    Try a SMC reset.

    Hi,
    I have 10.1.2.0.0 installed. I log into portal and time to time I keep getting the following error:
    Error: Timeout occurred while retrieving page meta data.
    Any ideas what might be the cause. It may work ok for sometime but all of a sudden I keep getting the above error.
    Thanks

    I could be the RAC, and have failovers etc. as usually this is associated with a performance issue or timeout... There should be something in the logs.
    What I recommend you is that you log a Service Request into Support... and supply the PDA (Metalink Note:169490.1).
    I hope it helps...
    Cheers,
