New Internet Service, Do I Need to Reset E2500 Router?

I had temporarily used my E2500 router to work with a wireless broadband source by connecting it to a Cradlepoint CTR500.
Now I will be connecting the E2500 to run (permanently) with Time Warner Roadrunner using a Scientific Atlanta WebSTAR DCP 2100 cable modem . Since I am changing the source of the internet, do I need to reset the E2500 back to the factury defaults and then perform a new set-up on it using the Cisco Connect software?
The cable modem is currenlty connected via ethernet cable directly to the PC. I had read that removing the ethernet and cable connection from the cable modem and powering the modem down for 10 minutes will cause the modem to "forget" the PCs MAC address.  Once the PC's MAC address had been "forgotten", connect the modem's ethernet cable  to the router, which will make the modem pick up the router's MAC address, and eliminate the need for cloning the PC's MAC address. Does this sound correct?

Unplugging the power to the cable modem for 30seconds should be good enough. As for the router, you should be able to get by without a reset if it is set to DHCP for the internet connection type.
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Ordered new Internet service a month ago and still nothing!

At the end of August I placed an order to upgrade the speeds to my Internet (sounds good so far doesn't it verizon). Well it's now September 28 and I still haven't received anything from these people. I've called about 5 times in the past month, the first call I was told I don't need anything done because it's just an upgrade to speeds and should take hold within the day. The second call I was told I need a new o n t box (a211 instead of the box iI have now) and they would have to send a technician out to do so. The tech guy walks in my door looks at my router and says everything is fine and walks out the door. I check my service the next day and low and behold no upgrade. Call 3 "sorry about the inconvenience we'll be sure to fix the problem, transfer transfer transfer, the problem was we're seeing that the tech guy put in order completed but it's not showing the new o n t box was installed! We'll get a tech guy out ASAP! Day of installation nobody shows. No we're on call 4, (at this point I'm calling to cancel because this is absolutely ridiculous, three weeks have went by and I'm still waiting for the new service at which Verizon would be getting paid a higher rate from me and they are treating the situation as screw the customer we don't need him or his business) " we understand your frustration but if we can fix the problem would you be willing to try again? We can set up a new appointment for you ASAP and get your new service up and running. I will personally make sure the work gets done correctly as I am leaving notations in bold and all caps on your file. " I myself was exhausted by the ordeal but did want higher speeds on my Internet so I said" sure we can try again". This is where the biggest load of bull came in. The tech guys come to my house and state "the order that was put in was a repair job and not an installation so they can't do the work"! Are you **bleep** kidding me! Is this the way you people at Verizon do business! The worst part of it all is the fact that over the phone your reps seem to know what their doing but can't communicate it to the rest of your people to actually get the job done. UNACCEPTABLE! Call 5" once again I'm sorry for the inconvenience and the trouble we've caused I understand that you want to cancel by now and I would too if I was put through this ordeal but can we try one more time to rectify the situation, if we try I can offer bull**bleep** deal after bull**bleep** deal and get your new service installed at your discretion"? The kicker is I accepted the **bleep** deal because I really need a higher speed Internet. Let's see if they add more fuel to the fire or actually fix the issue. Verizon practices in customer service thus far has been absolutely deplorable. Try thinking about the customer for once and not your bottom line! If they do screw up again I will cancel service and go somewhere else for television and Internet service.

    TOBY

    Hi Toby
Welcome to Adobe Revel! You do not need to download anything right now. Currently on a PC you access Revel via adoberevel.com on a web browser.
Here are some useful links for you that might speed up the learning curve. They show you how to do things in the browser version as well as Mac and iOS. PC users can not edit using adoberevel.com. The apps include editing. Since Elements versions prior to version 11 do not connect to Revel, you can save to your hard drive and upload to Revel from there.
You can sign up to be notified when a Revel app is available for Windows and Android by going to http://www.photoshop.com/products/revel ….scroll down and look on the right side where it says "coming soon- Notify me" for windows or android. Click and you can sign up to be notified.
In the coming months, we will expand Revel onto new platforms, devices, and file formats.

  • Do I need to reset the router when switching between Win and Mac?

I just set up my new Mac Pro with OSX 1.5.2 and Win XP using Bootcamp and it all works fine, but I have one question about connecting to the internet.
I have a Belkin pre-N wireless router. I am connected using an ethernet cable.
When I switch between OSX and Windows by restarting the computer, is it necessary to restart the router while the computer is off so that when it comes back on it can locate its proper connection?
When I was working on my old PC and my new Mac Pro, I noticed that if I just took the ethernet cable from the Mac or PC and connected it to the other machine, it couldn't find the internet unless I turned off the router, waited a moment and turned it back on again, connected to the other machine and then started the machine.
As the two OSs are now in the same machine, will this continue to happen or can I simply switch between operating systems without having to re-initialize the router and connect it before turning on the computer again?
I haven't tried it yet because I am afraid to screw things up, so I am continuing to turn off, restart the router, re-connect and turn the computer on again. That work perfectly but it is tedious.
Can anyone please advise on whether this is necessary or not?
Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Luis:
You should be able to leave the router on and switch between the two OSes. Try it. Worst thing that can happen is that you would need to restart the router.

  • Connecting to home internet via airport - always need to restart the router

I set my home PC as the main station to connect to my ISP. With a wireless router (linksys Wireless-B), I used to share the internet connection to other wireless devices, for instanace, my palm and ibook, my sister's notebook PC and Pocket PC. once, I took my ibook to an internet cafe, which gives free wireless connection facilities. My ibook obviously scanned the wireless network, and was connected (as I noted from the Summary of the "internet Connection". but, when I activate Safar, it said that it could bring me to any website because my computer is not connected to internet. it's very strange, as the Internet Connection said it's connected to the wireless network. The Safari page suggests me to run "network diagnosis". i follow the instruction, and it says I should restart the router and then it would work. I didn't succeed. A while later, it connected. I thought it was okay.
Then, this problem comes up even when I am using my home's internet connection via the airport. I use DHCP to connect to my home internet connection. though the airport summary page said that it's connected to my router (the IP address is my router's address), again, Safari said my computer is not connected to internet, so it didn't work. I followed the instruction of the Network Diagnosis, it again asked me to restart my router device. I also noted from the Airport Section of the Network Perference that, it says the airport has a self-designated IP addres, so it may not connect to the itnernet. later on, I retarted the router and the modem (without turn on my home PC), the ibook connected to the internet.
i checked the router setting of my home PC. I'm sure that it's open to all wireless user. Strange through, after I update the settings (even though i didn't make any changes, perhaps the action of 'save settings', it's kind of equivalent to the action of restarting it), my ibook's connection works. When my retarted my PC and ibook, the connection problem comes up again.
it's very frustrating. Does it mean that I need to restart my router everytime? What about if I want to connect to wireless hotspot outside?
    Please please help

Your problem description is complicated, making it hard to figure out what exactly is wrong. Unfortunately, WiFi does this quite often.
To avoid this kind of problem, you should set up different Locations in your Network Preferences for different places that you connect up. That is, make one location for your Internet cafe and another for home. Leave the Automatic location alone.
For locations you know you are going to connect by WiFi, go to Network Port Configurations and drag Airport to the top of the list to give it priority.
If you have a location, where you want an ethernet connection or want to use your internal modem only, then drag those options to the top. Get the idea?
MacOS seems to get confused sometimes when you switch back and forth between different connections all the time. This will not happen if you tell MacOS where you are by explicitly setting a location.
To get out of a situation where MacOS thinks you are connected to non-existent ethernet connection, go into
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    and delete the NetworkInterfaces.plist file.

  • Do I still need to reset my router?

I moved my cable modem and router (Linksys E1000) to a different outlet, so I had to power everything down. It's now set up and running again, and I know it's working fine because my laptop connects wirelessly. However, my desktop, printer, and TV won't reconnect. All of the devices show my SSID as the first available option, but I get error messages when I try to connect - my desktop says to reset my router, my TV says to check my connection.
Would I be able to resolve the issues on my other devices by resetting my router, even though it's working fine with my laptop? I'm reluctant to do so only because I don't want to risk losing the currently working connection to my laptop.
Update: I just tried connecting my phone, and it's asking for my network password. I tried both the router's PIN, as well as the passphrase. Neither works. Error message says network password is incorrect.

Wow.  I solved it - didn't know I needed to enter the dashes in the security key.

  • Need help! New internet service and now some web sites won't load

I just switched from Comcast cable internet to qwest DSL. I use Safari for my browser and my wife uses Firefox. I cannot get past the login portion of these sites:
    flickr.com (or any yahoo-related site)
    usbank.com
apple.com discussion forums (I'm on my PC-based laptop posting this)
Being that all of my PC-based laptops can access these sites just fine, I know it has something to do with the Mac.
First, I've emptied and cleared all my caches, deleted all cookies, reset both browsers, restarted my computer about 10 times and still cannot get past the login portion of the sites listed. I can get to the first page, but then when I go to login, it freezes up.
Had this problem with facebook at first too, but after doing what I talked about above (resetting everything), I was able to log into facebook.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.
Just as an FYI, I had no problems accessing these sites with my cable internet modem.
Oh, I'm also using Safari 5.0.3 and firefox 3.6.13 (have the same problem with both of these browsers on my mac).

    Hi,
    Try repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.
If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your Mac. If that didn't help, go to Safari / Preferences - Autofill. Make sure *User names and passwords* is selected. Now open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete all keychains related to the sites you have problems logging in.
Relaunch Safari and try those sites. You should be prompted to save the login data to a new keychain. If that didn't help, login to another user account. Launch Safari. If you see the same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Select MacintosHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
If Disk Utility reports, you will have to boot from your install disc to make repairs, instructions here.

  • I have a new internet service provider and router and need to re-connect to my airport express. However, Airport Express is not showing up. Also, when I launch Airport utility (new and 5.6), it shows no available devices. What am I doing wrong?

    iMac (2008), 10.7.5
    Airport Express (2008)
    Comcast wifi router

The AirPort Express must be reset back to factory default settings first, and then reconfigured again.
    To reset the AirPort......
    Power off the device
    Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button first, then continue to hold the reset button in for an additional 10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the AirPort back into power
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart
Try using AirPort Utility 5.6 now to see if it will "see" the AirPort so that it can be set up again.
If you are using AirPort Utility 6.x, you must first click on the Other WiFi Devices tab, then click on AirPort Express to start the setup wizard

  • TC not working on new internet service provider.

I had my time capsule all set up and running fine before. I moved and got Time Warner Road Runner internet. Now my TC won't connect when I plug the modem into it and I get the flashing amber light.  When I plug the cable into my computer the internet works fine. Also I can see my wifi network name on my computers but its not connected to the internet. I don't have my Mac desktop with me yet which I used to configure the TC the first time. I have just my PC laptop and iPad. Do I need the desktop before the TC will work? Or should I be able to connect. Also I don't want to mess with the TC too much just in case my desktop is messed up after the move. Thanks!!!

How do I reset the ISP to the MAC address?
    To clarify:
    "MAC" = "media access control"
    "Mac" = Macintosh computer
You may have to call your ISP and ask them to reset the modem so that it accepts a new client.  This may involve resetting the MAC address to that of the Time Capsule.  If they need that address, it should appear on the case of the Time Capsule.

  • Reconfiguring time capsule with a new internet service

We previously had our network setup and was using a cable internet provider.  Last week we changed over to internet through the phone line and I cannot get the time capsule to reconfigure.  Any ideas?  I have tried all of the tips, tricks and troubleshooting; short of a full reset for fear of losing data stored on the time capsule.  The time capsule is flashing amber and is not showing up on any of our AirPort Utility scans.
I have tried powering down both the internet router and the time capsule and have checked all connections.

Firstly let me assure you .. no reset will wipe data from the hard disk.. that takes a deliberate and confirmed action via utility.. no other way. So do full reset... and it will work fine.
Secondly remove devices from the network.. plug it into your computer.. fully isolated and do the setup.. then plug it back into the network.. it is much easier and using ethernet is the only way.
For adsl modem router you have choice to either bridge the modem and run pppoe client on the TC .. this is complex in that every modem is different and your ISP must support pppoe.
Or just bridge the TC.. this is easy.
Open  airport utility and go to internet tab.. (v5  different for v6)
On connection sharing select off (bridged mode.).
Update the TC.. put it back in the network by running ethernet from LAN port of the modem to the WAN port of the TC.

  • Need to reset password, lost install disc

I have a wireless router, Model WRT54GS v7.  I moved recently, and I need to reset the password to connect wirelessly.  I've lost the install discs during my move.  What do I need to do?

The reason why the admin is no longer working as the router password because you might have setup a router password, not knowing, during the first time you setup your router...If you remember the router password when you first used your setup cd to install your router then enter that password else you need to reset your router and re-configure it...
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

I went to SICF and navigated the path and saw that my Internet service weas not avialable there. In the previous versions when i worked on external ITS there was not other setting requried when I created a new Internet service . I just had to publish it and it was able to be executed. Is it different in ECC.60? do i need to create an entry in SICF? There was no entry avialable for my Service ZOVT in SICF even after I published it.

    Hi Sammer,
yes you need to create service in SICF..After that you also need to connect the service to respective application which you can do it through service options on double clicking the newly created service and provide the GUI link at settings tabe..
The same should be called up in SE80 with the respective settings...now publish it internal as webgui/its. (ECC 6 internal ITS)..
    Thanks

  • Deployment of Internet services

    Hi All,
We are in the throws of planning to move our production data centre that currently resides with the business to a professional facility that is roughly 3kms from the current business premise. We currently have 2 x 2Mbps services deployed in the data centre. Our plan is to deploy new Internet services in the new data centre and route traffic from our business premise through these.
My question is, do you, in your designs, also deploy Internet services with the business or just move them to the data centre? I am thinking the latter options as if you host a connection with the business it could be difficult to host Internet facing services without deploying these with the business (DMZ, email, etc).
Just looking for some feedback on how others have designned their networks?
I guess another issue is content filtering (browsing).
    Thoughts?

I guess you are asking about the Network Key or the Security Key needed to connect the Wireless Network on the Wireless computer...If yes then, you can get the key by loging into the setup page of the router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...Under the Wireless tab, click on the Wireless security tab to get the password..
If the admin password is not working then, you need to reset the router and you need to configure all the settings again on the router as per the ISP settings...
If you are planning to replace the router then, again you have to configure the router as per the ISP settings..
