New iphone 4 do i need to charge battery
Hi I bought a new iphone 4 which was delivered today. It has about 40% battery life.
Do I charge it fully before use or discharge it fully and then recharge it back up.
Please advise and thank you.
Charge when it is most convient for you. If it is late, just use the iPhone now and charge it later, overnight. If you have a whole day before you, charge it now so it does not run out before late tonight.

If your phone is officially unlocked, you will get an officially unlocked iPhone if yours is replaced under warranty. Apple maintains a data base of officially unlocked iPhones & can verify whether your phone is officially unlocked or not. To be safe, point this out to the genius bar, if you go to an Apple store or whoever you talk to, if dealing with AppleCare.

chaminda.What is the exact message, and when do you see it? You don't need to deauthorize anything to register an iPhone.
You can deauthorize all computers by going to your Account settings in iTunes and clicking "deauthorize all". But that won't solve your problem, because your problem has nothing to do with the number of computers authorized. -

New iPhone 4 Activation Help Needed
Well, I upgraded to a new iPhone 4 and ordered it on Saturday and it was delivered on Monday morning.
I now cannot activate it. I inserted the new Micro Sim into the phone and then connected it to iTunes and iTunes 10 opened.
It went through a lot of things and then asked me if I wanted to upgrade the software to OS 4.1, which I did and it then kept telling me that activation may take sometime. I successfully downloaded 4.1 and then the phone seemed to sync, but now, when I disconnect from iTunes, there is nothing about the phone being activated and there is no signal.
My old iPhone 3G however is still working and has a signal, but I can't use my iPhone 4. I tried connecting my 3G to iTunes and it came up with the summary info. and showed my phone number, however, I then connected my iPhone 4 and it showed summary information, but no phone number. No info re activating comes up at all and I am at a loss to know what to do.
Any ideas about what to do? I don't need to select contracts in iTunes, as I did all this on the 02 website when I upgraded and because it is an upgrade, I get to keep the same phone number as before.
What do I need to do or should I just go into a local 02 store and ask? I would just love to start using this new iPhone 4 now that I actually have it, but if it won't activate, then I am at a loss?

I had the similar problem when I got mine 2 month ago. I ordered mine from AT&T, upon receiving it, i went to the apple store to get it activated (since I had no internet connection at home), but to find that it was waiting for activation, the genius was puzzled to why it wouldn't activate. So I had to go to the activation site on the AT&T part and activated from there, then it worked.
so you'll probably have to contact your provider to activate your new iphone. Good luck. -
New iPhone 4 unlocked keep on restarting, and battery does not charge
I have boght new iphone 4 8g unlocked in US last week, to use it back at home(Azerbaijan) but, phone keep on restarting, and battery charges strage way. Each time it restarts with friggency of 5 mins, it shows different procetage of battery charge. Could you please advice what can i do ? And how to check what is the problem?
Reset, Hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself.
Clean iPhone Dock Port with a clean dry toothbrush.
Try different, new USB cable.
Try charging on Mac, PC USB or try different, new charger. -

Activate new Iphone with Wifi but need to log-in on Safari first - how do I do this?
I have just received my new iphone 4S and would like to activate it. I am trying to use the wifi network we have at work but on my old iphone, every day I would have to open safari which would then pick up The Cloud network and prompt me for a sign-in username and password – no problem. Unfortunately, when I try and select this network to activate my new phone, it doesn’t allow me to open safari first to sign onto the network and thus allowing the activation to continue. Is there any way around this??
Many thanksYes, that's the only options. If the wi-fi network requires that you authenticate using Safari, then it's not appropriate for activating your iPhone.

Please someone help. I am a recent iphone user and recorded priceless video and pictures of my brand new baby. I never got a chance to back up my phone and i plugged it into my computer which instead of charging it reset it to factory. PLease someone help me get them back. I tried holding down both buttons like everyone said and this doesnt work. My phone was shipped new from Ontario to Sask and took about a week to get here,Could it be because my battery is so low? And shouldnt it power on when it's plugged in or show a phone charging icon or have some lite on? My laptop won't even discover it when I plug it in. When I first took it out of the box i called virgin mobile.The lady told me to put sim card in because it did turn on at first and was asking for sim card so i put it in and all kinds of languages were displayed so i clicked on english and then then somehow shut the phone off because i wasnt familiar with it yet i have no idea how i shut it off.Anyway, I read a bit further and saw where the power button was and tried to turn it back on. No luck the apple logo appears with what looks like a hairline crack on the apple itself and a very thin blue bar no thicker than a pen stroke its about halfway right behind the apple logo like its going to power on but it doesnt, it just goes black.Then when I hold the 2 buttons down, the home button and the power button at the same time, the apple logo flahes on about every 3or4 seconds as tho its going to turn on but it doesnt, occasionally the bar comes up with the logo but not every time.What can I do? Will it work if I let it charge for a couple hours? Does it need a couple hrs and shud there at least be a charging icon showing me its charging?? I have it hooked up by USB to my laptop charging.My computer and Itunes doesnt even acknowledge its even there. PLEASE HELP? Thanks so much!
Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -

I have been looking at getting an iPhone 4. I currently am with Verizon but both contracts (cell and data) are up so I was thinking about their iPhone 4. I have no idea if there is a difference between the way ATT deals with the calls, texts, internet and a carrier like Verizon. I am assuming the phone is the same and the OS will be the latest and the same. I did read that Verizon uses the CDMA network not the network 4GLTE. I guess when the 4G network is more of a network they might offer the option to choose.
Does anybody know if tethering is available with any of the carriers yet or is that what either 3G or 4G should help with? If so, since 3G has been a network for sometime, and a darn good one at Verizon, what is the deal with tethering. I remember going with my friend when the iPhone first came out and ATT told them that a "concept" called tethering will be out in about a few months. I do not think after 5 years it has been out.
I am open to all kinds of advice, cautions, suggestions, etc. as I embark on this new endeavor. being a tech nerd (in a negative way) I am nervous about how to deal with all of the functions without ruining the p[hone, which is what I usually do to the computers. I would like a super heavy duty case with a covering for the display (that allows the touch function to work). If there are choices with the iPhone 4, I would like to hear people's opinion of certain ones. Even apps. is it OK to get them on the apple website or iTunes or both? Are there apps that have been checked by Apple and are like Apple certified?
I would like (but not sure if it is possible) to be able to travel and use the internet out in the desert, for example. I have a Verizon MiFi2200 and I use that for my MacBook and it works great. Do they have something like that for the iPhone.
OK, that should be enough for now. OH, one more thing. Does it matter if I get applecare right of or wait until the initial warranty is about to expire before I purchase Applecare. I realize the phone sup[port will not be available to me if I wait but the genius bar and sending the camera in will be.

AT&T Do not open my new iPhone to sim free :( NEED HELP PLEASE :(
I just bought an AT&T iPhone 4 from eBay and i live in Israel.
I need to unlock the phone because our "Carrier" {ORANGE} do not work if the iPhone not sim free.

AT&T rep say that she cannot help me if I'm not an AT&T customer, I asked them what can i do? I bought the iPhone from eBay and the person that sold me the iPhone also send me an AT&T Sim card and when i insert to the iPhone and open the iTune i saw the old number so i told to the AT&T rep that i have an old AT&T Sim and if she can open the phone? She say OK took my IMEI number and then suddenly she ask me what is the 4 social number digit of the Sim holder? I told her i don't know i bought the phone from eBay i only have the person name, Sim number and paypal confirmation, i don't know the social number... then she say that she cannot do nothing...
Please help what can i do?

The iPhone 4 I mentioned above was bought from eBay I have problems that the iPhone is locked to AT&T carrier although the previous customer graduated his payments to the company.
In the last few days I called (1-800-3310-500) and Corresponded ([email protected]) with AT&T number of times and ask from the represent to open the phone to Sim free because I live in Israel and my Carrier is “ORANGE” and when I remove AT&T Sim and insert my local Sim, the phone not working. I told them that I can send them the PayPal transaction confirmation on the Acquisition and the IMEI on the phone.
They say that only AT&T customers can ask to open the phone and I'm not a customer thats why they cannot begin the apply request to Apple.
I love Apple products and I use them every day and very happy.
When someone say to me change to Android products I tell him it's like to compare between BMW and Subaru cars, ofcource the BMW represend the Apple IOS system.
I think what AT&T doing is Bullying!!!
