New Ipod Touch- don't know where to start

I have been using an older ipod for years and have several thousand song/pictures in it (and itunes)... I just got a new touch model and want to know if I can just plug it in to my computer and download from my current itunes... if not, what do I do... I hope I don't have to go through the process of downloading all my discs again!
Thanks for help!

Hello JMD6496,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Yes. Simply hook up your new iPod and sync away. There is no limit to the number of iPods you can sync with one iTunes library, account, or computer.

  • Multiple problems with 80GB classic, don't know where to start.

    Hey guys,
I got an Apple classic 80GB for my bday early August and lately i've been having so many problems i dont know where to start, i'll try to explain them as best as i can.
*problem 1:* Whenever i plug my iPod into my PC, it locks up the system for about 5 minutes, then comes up with an error box saying that 'There is a problem with your iPod yadda yadda restore etc'.
I proceed to restore the iPod, then once its restored and reconnects itself, it repeats the cycle by freezing then telling me to restore. The only way i can do a restore and have it not give me an error is if i reboot when it is disconnected.
*Problem 2:* When i finally get it up and ready to sync, i go to sync all my files (About 2000 songs). It gets to around the 1500 song mark then says there is an error and the iPod disconnects itself.
It then instantaneously reconnects itself and starts syncing from where it left off.
Once it has then sync'd all of the music ad tells me its ready to be ejected. I eject the iPod and disconnected it.
I then go into the iPod and it has no songs/videos/photos, yet it has still used up about 15gb. If i reconnect it, it will just sit there for 5 minutes not syncing, it will then randomly say the sync is done and it will eject itself.
FINALLY after all that i have my music on there
*Problem 3* Once the songs are on the iPod, it becomes insanely laggy. If i navigate to a song and press play, it will take about 10 seconds for the actual song to play. The delay is just as bad for next song, pause etc. Even using it in my cars head unit causes it to lag.
*Problem 4* If i do get a song playing after all that, about 1/5 songs will just randomly skip to the next song without letting it play through.
I have all the latest iTunes/Firmware/Drivers for everything on my PC and iPod.
I have sent it back to Apple for repair yet they could not find anything wrong (Yeah right :|)
If anyone out there could help me please, im at my wits end with this infernal machine.
    Thankyou

*Outdated operating system:* Cant be, im running XP SP3 with the latest updates
*Computer needs updates:* I've got the latest drivers for all of my hardware, including BIOS
*Software interference:* THe only other program i have running in the background is Kaspersky Antivirus, but that is disabled when i try to sync
*Damaged Files* Possibly, i played through the album where it froze at and even reo-imported it, it seemed to play and import fine
*Unregistered .dll files (Windows):* Tried this fix, but it did the same problems as the original post. Such as freezing on a certain song, then reconnecting itself only to put the music on there, yet it is really laggy
*Damaged disk structure:* Tried this fix, didn't help
*Corrupt iPod photo Cache* I have never tried to put photos on it, so i dont see how this could be it.
*Lost connection:* Checked it, it's very firm and unlikely to come loose.
*Conflict with third-party hardware:* I dont have any connected, nor have i ever
*Bad hardware:* I tried it on all of my 8 USB drives. I dont use any hubs or firewire cards so this couldn't be it.
Also i forgot to add that 1/5 times i go to restore, it locks the computer up and windows gives me a 'delayed write failed' bubble

  • Battery on brand new iPod touch drains when synced to a mac and now it won't charge. If you're thinking of buying a new iPod touch, don't bother. The batteries don't work.

The battery on my son's brand new 64G iPod touch drained while it was synced yo the mac. Now it says 100% charged when it's connected to a charger, but drops to zero as soon as it's disconnected. It would appear that, either the battery is faulty or the battery indicator is faulty. iPod batteries are not supposed to drain while syncing. And rechargeable batteries are supposed to recharge after they have drained. Maybe I'm missing something simple here, does anyone know what it is?

  • Disabled Ipod Touch/Don't know passcode

I recently received a used Ipod touch, 64 GB.  I can't access it.  It says Ipod disabled, connect to Itunes.  I DO NOT know the passcode.  I try to reset, but can't, as my Itunes does not recognize the Ipod.  Can I use this Ipod?  Can it be reset without the current passcode?  Thanks

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • I'm new and I don't know where my toolbar went that had the applications, places, etc. in it.

I"m trying to find my "applications" to go to the scan feature, among other things. It seems to have disappeared. I went to " help" but they're talking about a top and bottom bar. I don't have a bottom bar and the catagories on the bar on the side are not useful to me.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi and thank you for responding. I don't have a gray Firefox button on the tab bar that I can see.
I press F10 but nothing happens. I go to View Toolbars and the ones I have checked are Navigation, Add This (which I have no idea about) Bookmarks, Add on bar (don't know that one either) and Tabs on Top (which I don't get either).
Any other ideas? And thanks in Advance

  • RAM and Activity Monitor questions M.B.P. Is sOoOoo slow and I just don't know where to start..RAM and Activity Monitor

So I am really unsure where to start but I def need a little help getting to where I want to be or feel I should be.  I understand that I am pretty much filled when it comes to the RAM on this machine but I need to figure out how to lower it.  I back up my machine about once a week which is longer than I would prefer but due to the way Mavericks has been acting I cant deal with the long backup process.... WHY?!?? may be your response to that and I will fill you in.  My external Hard Drive is a 1tb Lacie and its about 2 years old.  In that time I have dropped, lost, threw and slept ontop of it.  Causeing minor damage (each time) to the casing.  So now becomes rather hot and I kinda dont want it to burn out.  When I first updated to Mavericks the backups were fast and went along mb by mb...now though, the updates drag out for 3-5 hours and update kb by kb.  Tried some of the "solutions" posted on here but none seem to work any more than me consistantly purging my system while the backup happens...kinda why I dont have time to do it everyday like I'd like.
ANYWAY can someone please fill me in on a way, program, application, anything that will help me lower my RAM?  Because in the spirit of honesty I just dont have the extra funds to snag some new RAM or another HD.  I am almost at the point of saying "F**K IT" and wiping everything off the computer so its as close to empty as can be and manually, one by one redownloading what I want/need.  But I dont have the time to accomplish that either.  PLEASE lend me your ear and help a brudda out with some information from that exceptional brain of yours.
Below is a copy of my machines "report" from EtreCHECK and I am including screen shots of what the (Mavericks) Activity Monitor currently looks like in ALL PROCESSES.  PLUS it kinda seems that I have WAY TOOO MANY processes going on in the ACTIVITY MONITOR and have NO clue how to lower the amount.    Will truly appreciate any help anyone can toss my way.
        THANK YOU

Mavericks is designed to use as much RAM as possible. Free RAM is wasted RAM... it's RAM that's not working for you, not doing anything helpful. Seeing your RAM full is not an indication that there is a problem. Seeing your memory pressure graph spike would be.

  • Hi,I am unsure if I have a safari or modem problem. It only happens when I use my macbook pro, my HP windows is fine. Internet crashes on modem and then a message that safari is not connected. I don't know where to start sorry I am not technical at all.

Hi there, my internet is crashing everytime I use my macbook pro/safari it happens roughly every 2 mins, it can happen on any website.
I am not technical at all and I am at a total loss of where to start with this. I did a bit of research on the internet but no luck in finding any
    help.
Basically I am not sure if it is a modem of safari problem. I have no problems when using my HP on without windows explorer on the internet.
I am working wireless ADSL 2 - Bigpond - 2 Wire 2701 HGV-W and a macbook pro purchased around 5 months ago. Since the purchase date
I have had problems with internet.
Safari brings up a page you are not connected to the internet. I then look at the modem and DSL and internet lights are both flickering and or/off.
They then re-set themselves. I then have to re-set preferences on safari and quit and restart.
I have also tried using with cable into mac and modem and no difference.
I can only figure that maybe Safari is not compatible with the modem? could this be the case?
Thanks for reading and any assistance would be appreciated.

There's an Apple help page on the DNS problem - at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408
The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
    Network section.
In Network - click  on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
    either these, from google dns
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
    or from OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport)

  • Help! Don't know where to start...

How do I add a download (Adobe Reader) link to my website so if visitors don't have Adobe can download the software.
Also, I want to be able to add Adobe fillable (is that even a word) to my website, http://www.momentumcares.com
The guy that I had doing my website is no longer an option. Is this something that is relatively easy or should I just hire a webmaster, or whatever these guys are called?
Yes, I'm a newbie to website  and Adobe. If I've put my question in the wrong forum please forgive and transfer if necessary. Will you email me if you move the question.
    DW

You can use ANY of the apps Pat mentioned to CREATE the fillable form in PDF format.
Integration into your website is another task altogether. There are several options and the fine folks over in the Dreamweaver forum can and will advise you on what's best for your situation. I personally use a script called PDFObject to "embed" PDFs into the page directly. It's pretty much a "plug and play" script, but you HAVE TO know what goes where and how to amend the code as necesary or it won't work properly. Again, people in the DW forum can help with that, but if it's not something you're comfotable with, it might be time to seek out a new webmaster.

  • Guided procedures scenario, don't know where too start.

    Hi all,
I am totally new to the CAF framework.
I've done a lot of reading and also did the tutorial "My first process".
    The scenario:
I need to have a scenario where a user fills out an interactive form and submits this form. The data is also submitted in a SQL database.
His manager (a dynamic user) has to approve this form.
After the approval the form has to go to the inbox of a department where they can fill in additional information.
After filling in this information a feedback has to be sent to the user that filled in the form.
    Problems:
    - After doing the first tutorial i wanted to do some more turorials to learn more about guided procedures. All tutorials that I have found requires some beginning point like a Web Dynpro CO or something else. Are there more tutorials that guide you trough a process from scratch?
    - The tutorials that I have found with Interactive forms are designed with the Adobe Designer, not with the NWDS designer. So if you want to add a CO Interactive form you can't use this one because you don't have a .XDP file.
    - Is there a clear tutorial how to add a user dynamicly? For example in the tutorial "My first process" you have to add users while initiate the process. I also read the blog "Passing email address for Interactive Form step". But here the user still have to define to wich email address the form has to be sent. In my scenario the right email address is already in the Adobe form so I want to sent it to that email address.
    - Does a user always has to go to Guided Procedures > Runtime in the portal or can you make your own menu items for starting a process, approve a process etc.
I know it are a lot of questions but I hope that you can help me out with at least some of them because it is really dazzeling right now.

The scenario you mentioned should be possible using GP.  In response to your questions,
    > The tutorials that I have found with Interactive forms are designed with the Adobe
    > Designer, not with the NWDS designer. So if you want to add a CO Interactive form
    > you can't use this one because you don't have a .XDP file.
Adobe LiveCycle designer comes packaged with NWDS.  You can download it from service marketplace and run it standalone:
How to assign Dynaminc Approver in GP
    > Does a user always has to go to Guided Procedures > Runtime in the portal or can
    > you make your own menu items for starting a process, approve a process etc.
No, the runtime doesn't have to be used.  Check out this thread for more details:

  • I don't know where to start............

I'm horrified at the treatment I have had, all I wanted was to move home and I have been treated like an idiot, my BT move was cancelled and nobody at BT can tell me why, I had to sign up as a new customer, I was guaranteed my original (40 year) phone number back, they sent the email with a different phone number, I phoned up again and was told they couldn't guarantee my old number back but they would try once my contract started, next day its all cancelled again and nobody knows why,  they say technical issues, I phone again and same old same old, I have to sign up again, go through all the details and set up and someone was to ring me today, this afternoon, that's what I was told yesterday so they could expediate the whole thing as none of it was my fault, now here I sit at a quarter to 5 and no phone call yet, I'm using a dongle which was lent to me or I wouldn't have any broadband access, all the people I notified of my change of address and the phone number now have had no way of getting intouch with me since the 20th when the phone and broadband were switched off at my old address, everytime I phone I have a hard time making out some of the people, they try their best to be helpful but I find the language barrier difficult, I want to know I have somebody I can contact without having to go through all the options and waiting, a few times when I rang at first BT kept saying you're not a customer and ending the call.

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

  • Tiger seems to restart the GUI after minutes - don't know where to start.

    Hi,
To start, I apologize if this is not the correct discussion forum to place this post in!
I have had a 17" Powerbook for a number of years. Recently the hard drive failed, and I replaced the drive with a newer larger capacity drive. It was actually fairly easy!
Anyways, a couple of weeks has gone by, and a problem has developed. I believe the issue existed before the hard drive failed, but that being about 4 weeks ago I can't exactly remember.
From time to time, the GUI seems to restart - if thats possible. Watching on the screen, after a certain keypress it seems like I'm logged off, then logged back on. It only seems to happen when I'm using the system - writing an email, using excel, using iPhoto.
Digging through the system logs, this seems to come up right before (WindowServer.log):
Jun 26 18:02:35 [64] "loginwindow" (0x3f4f) set hot key operating mode to normal
Jun 26 18:02:35 [64] Hot key operating mode is now normal
Jun 26 19:04:02 [64] kCGErrorFailure: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled by application "Safari" for over 1 second. Server has re-enabled them.
Jun 26 19:04:04 [64] kCGErrorFailure: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled by application "Safari" for over 1 second. Server has re-enabled them.
Doing a ps aux right after the restart, from terminal, I see that this processes seem to be the ones which are restarted:

I've read through most of these forums over the past couple of weeks, and went ahead and cleaned my caches, zap'd my prom, and actually re-installed OS X from scratch 2 times, and I still have the issue.
On the weekend I went ahead and created another account, sean2. When using that account I don't seem to experience any of the restarts. Does this make any sense?
On the last os X install, I used the system for a while before installing iLife 06, and didn't experience any restarts either. Could something with iLife be running in the background causing the restarts?
Or is there a better way to troubleshoot this? I am a very experienced unix person if that helps!

Do you get anything in the Crash Reporter section in the logs (Console > ~/Library Logs > Crash Reporter). You said you re-installed the system. Did you do an archive and install or did you "erase & install"? It seems to me that you went fro the former. To begin with trash the com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.systemuiserver.plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and restart. Any better?

  • I'm having lots of problems with my Macbook, don't know where to start.

I've got an Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook, about 4-5 years old, running 10.5.8. It's set up with two logins, one each for my wife and I. We're having problems with several things:
Every time I open a PDF, Acrobat asks for my administrator password and reinstalls itself.
We use OpenOffice - but every time we quit the application, it opens right up again and recovers the last doc we were working on.
We use two airport express routers - one to create the wireless network and run the printer, one to stream music to the stereo, mostly via Airfoil. It seems overly complex, but the cable comes in one end of the house through the basement, and the stereo is at the other end of the house upstairs, and it worked fine until last week. We've lost contact with the stereo AX, and even plugged in with an ethernet cable I can't set it up - I can go through the menus, and when I try to finalize everything it just sits there blinking amber and eventually I lose the connection with the AX in the basement too - but I get it back upon restarting the computer.
My wife is having problems with copying and pasting in Firefox/Yahoo mail using her login, but I can't duplicate them in mine.
Firefox forgets things in my login that it remembers in hers - like it won't ever open to my homepage, always the "thanks for updating" page. I've googled that and found a few references to the problem, and tips for fixing it (deleting a few files), but they haven't worked for me.
We have intermittent problems with permissions - occasionally I can't write to a folder I created.
In the past I've been able to download HD video direct (without converting) from my Panasonic Lumix LX-5 camera through iMovie, but last time I tried the files were greyed out and unavailable.
A few months back everything froze and it wouldn't start up. A friend, who is a Mac IT guy, had a look at it and reinstalled the system, and it's worked ok since, with the exceptions noted above. We do back up regularly with Time Machine, and for most of the time I've had the macbook I used Saphos antivirus, until I read it could cause problems with Time Machine, at which point I uninstalled it.
I'm not a computer guy, I just want to have a reliable machine I can use every day without having to sit down and reconfigure some settings to get it to work. I have no idea whether these problems are related, or totally random, or a result of something I did. I half want to just forget it and replace the laptop and the one AX I can't get to work, but if it's a relatively simple fix, I'd realy prefer not to spend the money right now.
Any recomendations would be appreciated, and feel free to ask for further information - hopefully I'll be able to provide it!

Just curious. Have you opened disk utilities application in the utility folder and select your drive, and run repair permissions. This may or may not help. It also may take awhile if it has never been done. Good luck!

  • Don't know where to start with replicating ZFS in a two node cluster

I've got two systems in a lab I'm trying to use to make a ZFS based SAN for a VMWare cluster. I have experience with Linux and Gluster which was easy to have Active/Active High availability, however the benefits of ZFS I'm ok with Active/Passive. The issue I can't get around is finding out the solution in Solaris 11.2 that will mirror the data from the primary node to the secondary node and allow the secondary node to serve and receive data when the primary is down. This is a lab, so I'm not prepared or able to purchase a solution like EMC until I already have some proof of concept. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

    Hi user8777368,
for me this sounds like to failover the zfs filesystem from primary to secondary when the primary goes down. In such a case you can simply use the SUNW.HAStoragePlus resource with property "Zpools" to failover the zpool from one node to the other. The disks where the zfs is located should be in SAN and accessible from all nodes in the Solaris Cluster. There is no need to replicate data in such a scenario. An example is available in:
Solaris Cluster How to use ZFS and Zpools with HAStoragePlus and to Get it Mounted Correctly (Doc ID 1019912.1)
    Does this help?
