New MovieTools project to help gather useful JMF utilities

Hi,
I wanted to announce a new project called movieTools on java.net that may be helpful to folks working with JMF. http://movietools.dev.java.net
I started this project because I was spending a lot of time pulling my hair out trying to understand how JMF works (and I consider myself a decent Java programmer). It's a set of tools to handle tasks that would be useful to the vast majority of Java users who want to make movies or stream data but find the particulars of the JMF interface daunting. Instead of dealing with JMF Buffers and Sinks, you can deal with an interface that asks for BufferedImages.
This project was started with the generous contribution of source by some folks on the JMF-INTEREST mailing list. If anyone is interested in tools that let competent java programmers (but non-JMF gurus) use JMF, please have a look at the project.
Also, if you have developed useful tools that you'd like to contribute, please do so. :)

Javafx use jmf and capture audio device

Hello, I noticed a problem with the use JavaFX and Java Media Framework (JMF), in a project javafx call Java classes using JMF, but are not recognized PC audio devices, in fact when I executed 's the code CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList (null), displays the error: "could not commit protocolPRefixList", without recognizing any audio device. Instead I call if my application using JMF, outside of a JavaFX project, the devices are found and everything works properly, perhaps this problem depends on the security settings of JavaFX, or inability to use JavaFX is that jmf interfaces with audio and video devices?

I'd use jmf and javafx but it was not for capture devices.
If you use jmf there are native libraries.
The thing i found was about the java.library.path wich is overriden when you start javafx that jmf can't load approriate libs.
Try to compare the System.getProperties for java and javafx then you should find where is the problem.

but you can get plenty of code to get started on making your own video conf. application using JMF here .

I want to import an MP3 or any garageband compatible file into a new garageband project. I am using existing learn to play tracks and I create a guitar track to play along but I would like to import other external tracks. Suggestions please.

VoIP using JMF - RTP tx, rx - doubt

Hi, I am computer engineering graduate from India doing a VOIP project.
I am using JMF to develop the software and I have a few doubts :
1. There are quite a few techniques for RTP transmission :
a) Using RTPSocket and a custom UDP handler.
b) Using RTPManager to start a session.
c) Using a medialocator (rtp//inet addr.port//ttl) and a Datasink.
and may there are other methods too ?!
Now which of these should I use so that I have the best quality voice ?
Please advise.
2. Secondly, I read that H.323 is the ITU-T standard for multimedia networks. Is it necessary for my software to adhere to this standard ? If yes, how can I go about it?

well friend it depends totolly on you, what sort of thing u want to do i mean using media locator to send and recieve the media streams u can only response to single stream.While using RTPManager u can have mutiple streams in a session and using custom UDP protocols u can have much more controll over the media stream.
I think u should send me a little detail about what you want so that i can guide u properly.

Help Configuring PHP Server with new Flex project.

Hi,
I'm curious if someone can help me with a frustrating problem.
While creating a new flex project, I can't seem to validate the configuration of the php server. I keep getting the message: "Cannot access the web server. The server may not be running, or the web root folder or root URL may be invalid."
I'm running MySQL, PHP and Apache 2.2. These program have worked indepentally without flex, so I know the program isn't with the install of the stack.
For my web root I entered: "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs" the location where I installed Apache
And for root url I'm using "http://localhost"
The other wierd part of this is that even though Flex would not validate this connection, I went ahead and started the project anyway and made a succesful connection to mysql, obviously though when I tried to launch the project it couldn't connect to the server.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated because flex is pretty much useless to me unless I can figure out how to connect with php and mysql.

Using selected clips to start new iMovie project

This must be a fairly simple question. I've searched on the Apple discussions and haven't found the answer. I've imported a large video into iMovie. I want to choose only a selection of clips to do a second iMovie project. Is there a way to select them and begin another project? Thanks for your help.

Unlike earlier versions of iMovie, iMovie HD lets you Copy and Paste clips from Project A to Project B. That may be the easiest way.
When you Copy and Paste a clip, iMovie delivers the source file of the clip to Project B -- the entire source file. (This is so the clip in Project B inherits the non-destructive editing feature it had in Project A.) To avoid iMovie duplicating a source files multiple times, Copy and Paste all the clips you want together.

Like that thread, you could export the clips you want to the camera, then re-import them to a new project.
iMovie HD also a new Save As command, which lets you duplicate the entire project. You could use that instead, then discard the clips you don't want.

Can you afford a new Thunderbolt case and cable? any case with FW800 is going to be slow 72MB/sec and less, and any new 1TB drive is capable of 75MB/s minimum up to 125MB/sec.
Thunderbolt storage can of course when setup properly reach 100's of MB higher using multiple drives.
Use what you have for a system backup or for secondary backup storage.
you might be able to take the drive - most cases allow you to open and swap drives - and use this:

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you don't have it on your computer (audiobooks go into the Books part of your iTunes library) nor on a backup, then if it's still in the store you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

Why would you need to ADD a new Client. Unless the APE sytem is completely different then any other Wireless router the printer should get an IP address from the router. That is IF the printer is setup to get an IP from the LAN DHCP server.
Now you may want to make that IP it does get a Staticly assign IP address so it never changes, which will screw up printing if it does change. But i don't know if you can do that with APE routers.

How do I do the importing.

If the video is already on a DVD:
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:

Good news and bad news:
The bad news is that you need CS6 or higher to open 6D RAWs. (The 6D didn't get support until Camera Raw 7.3; 7.0 premiered in CS6.) You can choose to upgrade (I'd recommend skipping CS6 and go straight for CC 2014 for $10/month) *OR*...
...the good news is that the DNG Converter can help you convert your RAWs into DNGs for use in CS5 and Lightroom 3.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the page that opens.
Select the System keychain in the list of keychains in the sidebar of the window. If you don't see the list, click the down-arrow icon below the sidebar.
Then select Passwords in the Category list at lower left. Click the Kind heading in the list of keychain items to arrange it by Kind.
Locate the AirPort Disk Password with the name of your Time Capsule. Double-click the item and check the box marked Show Password in the inspector window that opens. You'll be prompted for the administrator login password. Make a note of the AirPort password, then close the inspector window and delete the item.
Also delete any other AirPort DIsk Password items for that same Time Capsule, which may have had a different name in the past.
Quit Keychain Access and try again to back up.
