New PO document type

Hi experts
We plan to create new doc type for return Po.What we should do for all related setup?
eg: copy one current document type ? assign document number range?  others?

If you feel that system should not allow you to proceed further wihtout without flagging the return check box at line item level, you have set it in configutaion and the step is as follow..
First you have to creeate a new field selction key under Materiaal Management --> Purchasing >Purchase Order>Define Screen Layout at Document Level
Select NBF field selection and click on Copy icon
Change the Field slection key code and description as you like, say for example ZNBF
Now double click on created field selection by that you will get list of field selection group
Double click on GR/IR Control, system displays list of fields with different options of selection and by default you can find all the fields are have been checked under optional entry
Check on Requried Entry check box of field "Return Indicator"  and save it.
Now the next step is assigning the newly created field selection key (ZNBF) in to docuemnt type
For this, click on Define Document Type, select the newly created field slection key for the newly created PO document type for return and save.
Now when you try to create PO with the newly created document type, system will not allow you to save the document until unless you check the retrun item check box.

    I have a requirement to create new PR document type and replace existing PR document type.
    What are the pre-requistes for replacing the existing document type?
    How will it impact on business process?

    Create new document type copying existing one but dont delete the existing doc type as it will affect the old PRs.
    To stop usage of existing doc type you can remove its number range assignment so that no new PR will be created using that doc type.
    For new doc type you have to assign number range.
    Assign field selection key.
    If you have used doc type as characteristics in release strategy then maintain new doc type in release startegy.
    Also check whether the new doc type is linked to purchasing doc types such as PO/RFQ/Contract.
    If you have activated version management for PR then maintain new doc type in version management.

    General procedure when setting up sales document types
    You have three options for configuring new sales document types:
    1. Change an existing sales document type.
    2. Copy an existing sales document type and change it according to your requirements.
    3. Create a new sales document type.
    Recommendation
    For small changes, SAP recommends that you copy similar existing sales document types in the standard SAP R/3 System and make the appropriate changes. Small changes might, for example, be, a changed description, a different number range or a different increment for the numbering of items.  The name is to start with the letter Z as SAP keeps this range free in the standard system.
    This procedure has the following advantages:
    All the specifications of the existing sales document type are copied. In particular, the data concerning, for example, partner determination, pricing or document flow which you would otherwise have to edit manually is copied.
    You can test your new sales document types in respect to the settings made without having to edit the other settings.
    When copying sales document types, item categories and schedule line categories, the SAP R/3 System automatically creates a log with the copied data. Using the log, you can check whether all of the copied data applies to your sales document type or whether you need to make changes.
    Actions
    1. If you need to make further changes, you should define new sales document types. To do this, you enter an alphanumeric key with a maximum of four characters for a sales document type and a textual description for the key.
    2. Maintain the specifications on the detail screen according to your requirements.

  • Unable to assign new sales document type to sales area.

    Hi,
    I had created new sales document type. While I assigning to sales area it showing error " Define <XXX/XX/XX > first as a general sales area." I had already created sales area in enterprise structure. I had configured Combine sales org, dist channel & division also. Kindly help me on this.

  • Creating a new PR document type in SPRO

    I am presently doing over the Release strategy for PRs within our company but there are some new departments to be added.
    I need to create new PR doucment types for these new departments,how do i do this?
    I am presently in SPRO,pathway Purchasing>Purchase Requisition>Release Procedure>Set up procedure with classification>release strategy.
    Transaction <b>OMGQ</b>. How do i create a PR type for a new department,
    e.g.Decision Support Services will need a PR type ZDEC to be created.

    Have you replicated the Same document type rom R/3 into the SRM system.
    Are you using Extended Classic Scenario (ECS) ?
    The solution proposed in this post won't work in your case:
    Using the BADI BBP_TARGET_OBJECTS to determine the backend doc type will only allow you to determine the follow-on doc type for each SC item: RS or PR or PO.
    With this BADI, you set 1, 2 or 3 in ITEM_DATA-OBJ_TO_GEN.
    But it does not provide you with the choice of the R/3 doc type (PR01 or PR02) for each "follow-on" doc type (PR).
    There is a BADI to change de backend Doc type or the backend doc number: BBP_SC_TRANSFER_BE Determine Number Ranges and Grouping in Backend Documents
    You can, independent of the standard, use the method GROUP_RQ to create a separate grouping for purchase requisitions.
    In the standard, the system creates only one purchase requisition in the backend for all purchase requisitions with the same backend document type . If the document types are different, the standard creates a separate purchase requisition for each document type.
    So you can use this BADI and its method GROUP_RQ to group material items in one side, and service items on the other side.

    1. You can create new PR and PO docu types at the following path:
    For PR docu type:
    First you need to create number range for docu type or you can use existing number range also. The path for creation of no. range is
    SPRO>Materials Management->Purchasing->Purchase Requisition->Define Number Ranges
    Then create PR docu type at below path and assign no. range to PR docu type here only
    SPRO>Materials Management->Purchasing->Purchase Requisition->Define Document Types
    For PO docu type:
    Follow same procedure as mentioned for PR docu type. Path is
    SPRO>Materials Management->Purchasing->Purchase Order->Define Number Ranges
    SPRO>Materials Management>Purchasing->Purchase Order->Define Document Types
    If you want to create PO referencing new PR docu type, link the PR docu type to PO docu type at below path:
    SPRO>Materials Management->Purchasing->Purchase Requisition->Define Document Types--> Link purchase requisition - document type

  • Problem while print preview purchase order for new document type

    Dear Experts,
    I have got the problem as below and need your helps.
    I created a new purchasing document type and then created a new PO with this document type. PO was created successfully in the system. I added a message to print out PO with the followed parameters as NEU output type, 1.Print Out medium , VN partner function, dispatch time is 3 ( Send with application own transaction).
    Then, I clicked Print Preview button on the ME23n screen, the error message bellowed was shown
    "The combination of  document type
    and Purchasing organization is invalid.
    please check the document and change it.
    unable to print the form"
    I really want to print the PO with new purchasing document type on the existed purchasing organization, Could you please help me identify the problem and solution for this issue?

    Please let me know why we check the new document type in Program, Routine and From of NEU output type?
    p/s: I compared the version the program, FORM and routine of NEU output type and found that there is no the differences btw DEV server and QAs server. However, An PO created susscessfully in QAs server, but the error was happend in DEV server.
    Could you please come with the other posible causes and solutions for this issue?

    Follow the below path;
    Spro  Materials Management  Purchasing  Purchase Order  Define Document Types
    You can copy one of the existing document types or create by your own. But donu2019t forget to link this new PO document type with purchase requisition in order to be able to use it as reference. Also if you want you can define new number ranges for your new document types.

  • Message output for New Purchase Order Document type

    Hi experts,
    I am having trouble getting a Print message output for a New Purchasing Document type that I created.
    Steps that I followed are:
    1.Created a new Document type NS via customizing.
    2.Assigned the new Purchasing Document Type NS to Output Type NEU which is linked to our customized form for Purchase order display. I used MN04 /NACE to do this step.
    Now the message output gets created for my new document type NS but I am unable to display the message.
    Notes:
    -There are no release stratergies in place for document type NS
    -The NEU format works fine the other document type NB which we use for Standard POs.
    Are there any steps I have missed? Please help to resolve the issue.

    here enter your doc. type execute
    maintain the condition record
    NS  VN(function)   1 3 EN and click on communication and maintain
    Or goto NACR here put EF and NEU and select the last combination "Purchasing Output Determination: Document Type"
    maintain ..
    NS  VN(function)   1 3 EN and click on communication and maintain

    Copy Message type NEU and create your OWN , and assign new form to this message type , insert this message type in Message Schema
    Below is the path :
    SAP Customizing Implementation Guide >Materials Management>Purchasing>Messages>Output Control>Message Types>Define Message Types for Purchase Order : Here you can assign your new form and maintain all the setting like NEU
    Message Determination Schemas -->Define Message Schema for Purchase Order
    Insert your message type here
    In order to trigger the Print at document level automatically you have to maintain Condition records

    1) suppose you want separate report for import PO and domestic Po in t-code like ME2N,ME2L in that case we have to define new Po document type so we can get report by document type same will applicable to Asset purchasing also
    2) you want different pricing procedure assignment in MM then in that case Po document will help like import and domestic pricing procedure
    3) suppose IN service Po user may forget to use item categories D or he may used different item categorizes other than D so in that case we can define new document type and allow only item categories D so he can not use wrong item categories in PO

    Diagnosis
    Settings have been made in Customizing specifying that document type ABCD is normally to be used for supplying plant 6600 and receiving plant 7700. However, you have chosen document type MNOP.
    Procedure
    Please choose the document type that has beem defined (ABCD).
    Further notes
    If this message is a warning, you can also continue with the originally chosen document type MNOP. The ordering process will then be handled in accordance with this document type.

    Hi,
    You have created new document type for STO is MNOP & check the new STO document type MNOP is assigned to Supplying Plant, Receiving Plant or not. If not , just assign in following path:
    SPRO --> Material Management -- > Purchasing-- > Purchase Order-- > Set up Stock Transport Order--- > Assign Document Type, One-Step Procedure, Underdelivery Tolerance
    Note:
    As another document type ABCD for STO is assigned to Supplying Plant, Receiving Plant, so system showing error message.

    Hi,
    If you don't want to see the SAP Standard PO Document Types in Search Help of ME21N or any other Transaction then the only option is to delete these document types from config. (Path: - SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Define Document Types).
    But it is not recommended to delete the SAP Standard PO Document Types since in future if you want to create any new PO document type then you need to by copying SAP Standard PO Document Types.
    It is suggested to control the usage of SAP Standard PO Document Types by Authorization using Authorization Object M_BEST_BSA (Take help of BASIS Consultant). By this SAP Standard PO Document Types will be visible in the search help but user will not be able to use these.

  • Determining document type:  Debit Request vs Sales Order

    Our scenario:
    o     Business activities that are not our core revenue-generating business and currently invoiced out of FI-AR (FB70)
    o     Intend to change the billing process to invoice out of SD instead of FI-AR, one of the reasons is being able to capture SD related data for reporting purposes
    o     Different material masters but no more than 10 records, has yet to decide if the same material type
    o     Different pricing (procedures?)
    o     Relatively simple processes
    o     Same customer base
    o     Share same business attributes as core business like PO #, PO Date, Vessel #, etc. Therefore the new document type may want to reference to the underlying contract/sales orders.
    o     Different revenue account assignment
    SAP refers Debit/Credit Request as complaint process but this type of billing has nothing to do with complaints.  It's just a different type of billing.
    Questions:  We are trying to decide whether to create the new sales document type as Debit Request or another Sales Order type.  Or does it matter?  How are these two different and what are the determining factors? 
    Appreciate any suggestion on how to tackle this.

    Yes, it does matter which way you go.  Suggest you consider what the business flow  is in more detail  and then look further into what types of SD docs most align with the business flow at hand.
    Some very general things to keep in mind:
    Debit/Credit Request:  not relevant for ATP, billing occurs without delivery processing. Generally used for billings for price adjustments to what'd been invoiced or credited previously. 
    Other order types:  can be relevant for ATP, require delivery processing before billings can occur.
