I am new to solaris, could you please any provide best practice or step-step procedure document for the below requirement.
Requirement.
1) we have a sun cluster configured with orace-rac already one active/active oracle resource is configured and running.
2) I have a 100GB shared disk assigned to this cluster node.
need to create metaset and soft partition using this 100GB. and the same need to be configured in rac-cluster with new resourcegroup.

Using webutil you can. As in documentation APIs function names are still identical as they were in d2kwutil. Just little change like CLIENT_WIN_API_ENVIRONMENT......

In such case failover will depend on RAC instead on Weblogic.
Oracle will never recommend such way.
Please try to use Mutli datasource to implement such failover and in older version we have 60 seconds for failover time.
But we can change but adding one Bug (currently not remember).

I successfully installed Oracle Grid(clusterware) and Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.1.0 for RAC containing 2 nodes on Linux 5.3 64 bit.
All the clusterware services and ASM instance are running fine on both nodes.
Now im planning to create database manually on node1 (RAC-NODE1).
1) configure the environmental variables as follows

I successfully created the database, once i restared the database it is unbale to mount because of unbale to open +CTRL group file.

one more thing i need to know.., whenever i rebooted nodes, both of raw devices and asm disks are come to default permission brw------, i have to change every time to brw-rw-r--. is there any way to make these disks and devices permissions make permenet.

Is there a way to export settings for a resource group in new portal?

The old portal allowed you to export the XML for the settings for a VNET. I don't see the equivalent feature in the new portal. I'd like to be able to download a copy of the settings for an entire resource group to use as a template file for creation of
a new resource group deployment using the New-AzureResourceGroupDeployment PowerShell script.

We have the syntax for saving the settings for a resourcegroup on new portal but that saves it on JSON file.

Hi,
I need some help, I'm going to setup oracle HA under sun cluster 3.1. We will put 1 oracle instance but will be having several database instances running. My question is do I need to create a seperate resource group for each database instance?

If serveral oracle server instances depends on a disk storage resource in a resource group, can these oracle resources be seperated into different groups? In other words, is cross-group resource dependency allowed in Solaris?
One more question on oracle resource. Supposing there are a few oracle server resources and one disk storage resource in a resource group and the oracle resources depends on storage resource. if anyone of the oracle resources failover, wil it cause the whole resource group to failover? How about if the storage resource fails?

Similar logical host resource configured on 2 different resource groups

hi,
I had an issue with logical host setup as follows.
Background
We had a failover resource group RGA which is running a critical Oracle instance and listener process.
It has a logical host resource ora-lh-rs configured with logical host pointing to VirtualHostA.
I need to create another failover resource group called RGB with another Oracle instance.
Now at present this Oracle instance (Not under cluster control yet) is listening to the same logical host - VirtualHostA as RGA.
When I create this new resource group RGB, I need to configure it to share the same logical host as RGA.
The problem is if I need to add the logical host resource ora-lh-rs with VirtualHostA to this RGB, I foresee that there will be an IP address conflict if I failover RGB to the other cluster node (If my guess is wrong, but logically there should be an IP address conflict if SUN Cluster does not block me from adding the same logical host resource to RGB).
Question
Is there any other way to overcome this issue other than to configure the second Oracle instance to listen on a different logical IP?
To add, RGB is a less priority Oracle instance and will always need to be with RGA on the same node.
Any suggestions are welcome. My apology if this question sounds stupid as I do not have an UAT environment to test.

Thanks very much for your kind advice. I must say that I have very little experience with SUN Cluster so I beg your pardon if my concept is too superficial.
The reason why I cannot put both Oracle instance in the same RG is because that' s my boss initial proposal. I will speak to her again on the log_only option.
But can I confirm that the command looks like this after I add the resources to RGA.
scrgadm -cj rgb-ora-rs -y Failover_mode=LOG_ONLY (Oracle server)
scrgadm -cj rgb-lsn-rs -y Failover_mode=LOG_ONLY (Oracle Listener)
scrgadm -cj rgb-hasp-rs -y Failover_mode=LOG_ONLY (HA Storage Plus)
As for the logical host questions, it has been legacy that both the Oracle instance listens on the same logical IP(Just that the new and less critical Oracle instance is not under cluster control yet)
But my gut feel for the reason behind this is that the less important Oracle instance is always running on the same node where RGA is running (since that Oracle instance is used for data warehousing with data replicated from the more critical Oracle instance only) else it is meaningless. Thats my guess why ony one logical IP is used.
If the direction is still to use RG_affinities, then if I tweak the following steps a bit will it work?
1) Create RGB.
2) Activate RGB - scswitch -Z -g RGB
3) Offline RGB - scswitch -F -g RGB
4) Failover RGA to the other node
5) Failover RGB to the other node
6) Offline RGB on the other node
7) Failover RGA back to the original node
8) Failover RGB back to the original node

Create VNet in resource group using PowerShell

I need to create a VNet within a Resource Group. The old portal lets me create a VNet but places it in a "Default-Networking" resource group which is not what we want (we have a naming convention to follow for programming etc). The
new portal lets me create a Resource Group but not a VNet. I am not a dev, I am a sysadmin so I do not use Visual Studio (which Resource Manager seems to be made for). I have tried using PowerShell (in ARM mode) by first making a Resource Group, and
then running a PowerShell command in an attempts to create a VNet and add it to the Resource Group:
New-AzureResource -ApiVersion 2014-06-01 -Location "Australia Southeast" -Name devausevnet -ResourceGroupName devausevnet -ResourceType Microsoft.ClassicNetwork/virtualNetworks
I got an error: "New-AzureResource : InvalidAuthorizationAppId: The appId <blah> is not allowed to make requests via API for 'PUT' operations..."
I tried doing this by making the resource group at the same time as calling the creation of a vnet via a template as well, but after prompting me for the values for the vnet, that got the exact same error.
I have found a page that suggests ARM is not yet able to create a VNet via PowerShell.

OK, so how am I supposed to create a VNet in a Resource Group that has a name other than "Default-Networking" please?
While I love the direction Azure is heading, I am becoming very frustrated with the number of things like this that seem to be partially functional in the old portal, the new portal, PowerShell etc. If
there is no cohesive means of doing this as yet, is someone able to provide a work-around? Note that it is not yet even possible to rename a Resource Group otherwise I would have simply done that.

Based on my experience, there is no resource type for virtual networks in Azure PowerShell. In addition, to define a virtual network, you need to configure the address space as the property. The article below may be helpful to you:

Supplier Group Creation Error in SRM 7.0

Hello,
We are on SRM 7.0, SP 9. When creating a root supplier group using tcode PPOCV_BBP in SRM, we are getting a "DATA_LENGTH_0", "CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS" error in the program "SAPLRHOMDETAIL_PP01".
This error happens during the new supplier group creation process, when we change the default name of the vendor group with a custom name and try to save the new supplier group.
Please let me know if any one has come across this issue.

Oracle RAC 10g , is it possible OS different version

Dear all,
we have two node Oracle RAC 10gr2 on Red hat 4. Now the plan is to add a new node to the exising Oracle RAC . The new node is Redhat 5.4.
is it possible to add this node to the existing Oracle RAC.
The only the difference is OS version, existing setup is Redhat 4 and new node having Redhat 5.

Oracle documentation says the following:
Oracle Clusterware and Oracle RAC do not support heterogeneous platforms in the same cluster. For example, you cannot have one node in the cluster running Oracle Linux and another node in the same cluster running Solaris UNIX. All nodes must run the same operating system; that is, they must be binary compatible. Oracle RAC does not support machines having different chip architectures in the same cluster. However, you can have machines of different speeds and sizes in the same cluster.

we can see some additional clarification:

I have a challenge here...Would appreciate if anyone can help me..
I have to install 10.2.0.3 Oracle RAC on windows 2003 server 64 bit.
My issue is now the server names and ips are set and I am going to install the RAC.
But the client need is that after one month, they need to change the names and ips of the servers (a one time change).
Because according to their server naming standards, current production servers are having the acceptable names and ips.
The installation was on a 32 bit OS, so they are facing out of process memory errors. Thats why they are going to 64 bit OS on new servers.
After the new servers are ready, the data will be migrated to new server. After a month, they need to change the names of new servers to that of the old (current production) servers.
Could anybody help me by giving me information about how to change the NAME and IP after a RAC installation ?

Oh I'm not sure why you can't get answer from rac forums.
change ips ... that's not much the problem... you can use
oifcfg - Oracle Interface Configuration Tool -> to help change IPs (change subnet -> interconnect + public)

How to change the primary node for a resource group. Solaris cluster. 3.2

I have searched for hours to try to find this answer.
I want to change the primary node of a resource group.
example.
log-rg runs on node1.this.com it will list node1.this.com first when you do clrg status.
But we run it on node2.this.com
A reboot will have log-rg run on node1 after a reboot. We have to switch it by hand to run
on node2 .
I want it to know that it should always try to first run on node1, but still failover to node2 if the situation arises.
scswitch -z -g log-rg -h node2 (and all the fully qualified versions of this command)
would not work.
How tow can I change the primary node for log-rg (logZ) from node1 to node2???

Show current configuration for RG:
clrg show -v log-rg
For change order Nodelist you can:
clrg remove-node -n node1 log-rg
clrg add-node -n node1 log-rg
But tis command more destructive. It may be problem add-node back to this RG.
I don't know why Validation of resource log-tiv in res group log-rg on node1 failed.
Need more know about configuration, resourse type, etc.
May be it's better create for test small RG and try move and change resource.
Nodelist - say candidates for run this resources. But at this moment RG can run on any from this list.

No Resource Group created

Hi,
all I have an Azure Test account and I wanted to set up a SharePoint Testfarm.
Nearly everything works fine, but the field, where I have to type in a resource Group NEVER turns green. No matter what I put there.
Any Ideas? Did I miss something upfront?

Since the portal is still in preview, we might not be able to provide an immediate solution to the issue.
However you can try the following steps and let us know if it works.
Try using a different browser and check
Clear cookies and temporary files in Browser and check again.
Have you tried creating a new Resource Group after some time, and did it work.
