New to Java cant get it to compile in msDOS

Using SDK java 2 version 1.4.0. Checked my personal Computer folder types.
In folders in windows 98 do java file types open with javac.exe or java.exe? Tried both. When I try to compile a simple tutorial HelloWorldApp.java , it gives me a message that javac cant read it. The path is OK on MS DOS since it recognizes the javac command. I should be having no problems with tutorial. Did I mess up the links to the class and java file types ?. Microsoft tech support fixed a problem when I opened some demo files into the wrong programs and it was permanent.Then I tried to reset the right exe files to go with the file types but I am not sure. I have tried re downloading the software several times. Should I buy a sun software or are these downloads bad?

I'm from UK, although I've used one for ages I am new to computing itself and very new to programming - in fact I haven't started yet because I cannot get my JDK to work!! I have downloaded it successfully, it is installed and I have verified the version from athe command prompt. I have written a programme as detailed in my Programming with Java book, and saved it with a java file extension and I am sure it is correct. But when I try to compile mit I get "'javac' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
My book has no further advice on what to do - can anyone on this site offer me any help please.

Make sure the path to the javac.exe is specified in the environment CLASSPATH, otherwise you'll have to instruct your command window to point to the java/bin directory every time you wish to compile something... Not fun... :P
After that, just follow the instructions pointed at the tutorial...
Check out the installation doc at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/install-windows.html , specifically, the heading: 5. Update the PATH variable (Optional)
If you're new to java, I recommend getting an IDE to simplify things: www.jcreator.com is nice and free, try it out... ;)

Cant get it to compile

Got New computer and cant get itunes onto new computer

I Have a little dilemma. Ok BIG dilemma. I cant get my old iTunes onto my new computer because my old computer was bashed in by my ex-best friend. I can't afford to fix it so I decided to get a new one!
My little brother always messes things up and already got HIS iPod on MY new computer. Along with HIS music. I'm just wondering if and/or how to get my old iTunes onto my new computer. I will be very grateful to whoever helps me.

New to wireless Cant get airport express to join airport extreme network

So... I just got this MBP yesterday along with airport extreme and airport express. I got the base station set up i just cant get the express to connect for the life of me... help anybody? Everything is in range i know that for a fact. I just cant get it configured and i already looked on the airport express support page and followed the instructions and i still can't get it. :-/

You can't use Bluetooth to pair iOS devices with other iOS devices or Computers (Macs or PCs) as it's not part of the OS.
You can connect iOS devices to some bluetooth enabled cars, speakers, keyboards etc. Apple provide a list for supported bluetooth profiles here:

New to IOS cant get it to function correctly on BMW F30

Hoping somone can suggest a fix. Have made a partial move to Apple as spotify integration on Android is pants with BMW vehicles. However at same time whiel I can get my Iphone 4 to conenct to the car and load spotiy once playing I cant see any track info progress. All I can do is load a playlist. Cant skip tracks or anything.
Any suggestions how I can fix this. Plan was to use the iphone off line and just sync back when in WIFI range of the house. Rather not use mobile data. This certainly was not an issue when I first tried it when I buying the car back in November

I have just bought a new ipod shufle and cant find the sync button. The problem is that i have an old shuffle already registered. I have downloaded the latest itunes on my laptop but cant see my new ipod listed anywhere, can anyone help please?

That's not a problem. You can connect multiple iPods to your computer at the same time, and each one appears separately in iTunes.
If this is the first time you are using iTunes 11.x, the sidebar (along left side of window) may not be visible. If so, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Make sure you are using the USB cable that came with the shuffle, if your old shuffle is a different type (2nd gen). When connected, it should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES. If you connect both shuffles at the same time, they should both appear under DEVICES.
If that does not happen, please post back.

With the new firefgox I cant get any of the "movies" I just get a green screen.

When I click on a news story that has a video I get a green screen in the area where the picture should be. Everything else is fine.

Cant get my imported compilation to group in itunes

My wedding album was put together by a friend, its almost 4 hours long, he put it together as a playlist then burnt that to cd's using itunes. When i import those cds to my itunes the only way i can get the songs to play in tcorrect order is when importing i copy the track list to a playlist. after import when in my Music folder all the tracks are split up, iv tried going through my music folder > selecting each individual track then > get info > and changing the album and selecting part of a compilaton and all the other online suggestions but still i tunes splits everything up..... headache!
any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks lots

When you say you have tried "all the other online suggestions" that is rather vague because my online suggestions may not be the same as somebody else's and I presume you have not tried all x-thousand pages of Internet search results. What have you tried?

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields. If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty.

this is my question, my main comouter at home has Vista on it, my remote computer has XP on it, i have a dlink router, i had the cam working for a minute on my remote computer, and when i had to reboot, i lost everything,... the cam was plugged into the remote cam , unplug and nothing works, any great suggestions for this,

You should be able to do a google search to find the latest firmware for that camera. Looks like it is Version 1 (and they are up to Version 3 now).
I would start by updating the firmware.
Did you set your camera to have a static IP address? I struggled A LOT with this as I am not a network type guy, but what I found most helpful was to set a static IP address on the camera (and set one outside the normal range) (I used 192.162.1.67). Rebooting routers, etc, caused all of your DHCP ip addresses to renew and change, and I *think* that I was ending up with IP address conflict of some sort.
A real network expert might be able to help more.
