New to xMII

HI Experts,
I am new to MII and got new requirement in MII.
I need to capture the data of Process Order from SAP and sent to MII. Please suggest me how to approach this scenario. Whether to use BAPI or IDOC or any other way to do it??

HI Radhika,
First You have to cinfigure SAP server details under the Data Services.
Then go to BLS ,click Logic Editor and use JCO Action block under SAP ERP Interface.
In JCO Actionblock configuraion select the created SAP System alias and in webservice details search for required BAPI.
And pass the input parameters to execute that BAPI if needed.
Save the output in xml using xml saver action block or map data to the document action block.
You will see the desired result.

Read Idoc Data In xMII 12 BLS Transaction

Hi All,
I am new to xMII.
I followed the instructions suggested in the Document "How to Send an IDoc from the SAP R/3 Enterprise to the SAP xMII IDoc Listener" By Diana Hoppe and Michael Appleby written on 04 Dec 2008. It was pretty simple and i was able to complete all the steps.
In the Message Monitor in xMII 12.0 i am able to see " 5 Messags Found" and they are listed below in a grild with the server name, Message Name, Message Type etc
Example
Server Name Message Type Message Name Message Category Received Time Processing Time
MII_IDOC IDoc LOIPRO01 MII_IDOC 2009-07-10 02:11:25.911
Now i would like to know how do i read the contents of this IDOC i.e Production order? Is there a sample or stepby step guide which explains how i can get this data into an xML message in a BLS Transaction?
Are there any simple steps to be followed to get this data from the IDOC?
Please help me undestand this. Thanks in advance.

I had Pre ordered your book and I just received a copy. The first impression wrt the Contents & Coverage of the book looks excellent.
Congratulations to you and Abesh on this achievement. Writing a book on a topic which there has been no book written earlier is a great feat on its own.
Will be spending more time with the book today evening.
My Expectations from this book:

3. A Reference book for the current implementation I am doing with a customer :).

BTW u2013 First thing I checked in the book was steps on how to read the data from the IDOC in the Buffer and that has been explained pretty well and in detailsu2026.. Thanks again for that.

XMII Content

Hi,
I am very new in xMII area and trying to setup the system from the dashboard side.
We have installed the xMII system successfully.
I wanted to know if there is any preconfigured package / application ( Like SAP PI/XI - we get content for SCM ) with dashboard in xMII which can be deployed and configure so it can connect to SAP R3 and start displaying different animatedobjects.
Is there any link where I can get list of deployable application for xMII

How to create users in xMII 12.0

Hi,
I am new to xMII 12.0. I know how to create users in xMII 11.5 Menu->Security Services->Security Manger->User Management.
But I am having difficulty in creating users in xMII 12.0. Can someone help in this regard.

R/3 to xMII

Hi All;
I am new to xMII .I want to send data from R/3 system to xMII and represent the data in a dashboard.
I have configured the connection from R/3 system to xMII system and am able to send the IDocs successfully.
I want to know that what needs to be done in xMII now(what action needs to be added in the logical editor) to show the data in a graph in xMII.

If not, then read.
If yes, then strange! Then simple explanations for IDoc are as follows
iDoc stands for intermediate document, that is a standard data structure designed by SAP for electronic data interchange.
SAP R3 can generate iDocs, for asynchronous mode of data transfer to requesting work stations. BAPI is the synchronous mode of communicating to R3
xMII can listen to iDocs sent by R3. Configure iDoc Listeners under data services with appropriate Server properties, Client properties and routing rules.
Once this is done you can find iDocs being saved in your server (default location : <Installation Drive>:/Lighthammer/JCO/Output/ ) after you execute a transaction that generates them.

You need to create distribution model for message type to send IDoc to xMII as xMII doesn't cache the metadata of the IDoc and requests it everytime it receives an IDoc message. If you logical system, partner profile and RFC destination are ready along with the xMII IDoc listener setup you can try sending IDoc to xMII.

Workflow in xMII

Hi All,
I am new to xMII, I want to send and IDOC form SAP to xMII. I have done the configuration required in SAP and configured IDOC Listener in xMII. Now for the workflow which interface i have to use, how do i know whether the IDOC has come into xMII. Can anyone help me with this workflow?

Routing rules specify how incoming iDocs are processed. They are processed based on their message type. If there is no routing rule for the message type received, the generic * rule is used for processing the document. The IDoc is written to the directory specified in the Path field. You can also forward it to Business Logic Services for processing by specifying a server and transaction. The document is passed to the specified transaction input parameter. Therefore you can either check that folder that you specified or you can write a BLS transaction that notifies you of when a new IDOC comes in.

XMII SSO with Sharepoint

I am new to xMII platform and would like to know few details on foll:
SAP ECC users are authenticated on their own LDAP server.
We are about to create a manufacturing portal using sharepoint that will access iview-webparts from MII platform.
Sharepoint users will be on ADS. Now how do i achieve SSO between Sharepoint and MII.
Do i use credential mappings at Sharepoint side or is there a better way to do ? like SAML, etc

LDAP should work for your scenario. Sharepoint Active Directory can also use LDAP.
I assume you are talking about SharePoint 2007. If so, it does support LDAP authentication by using the LDAP membership provider. Have a look on the link

Initial need on xMII

Hi Friends,
I am new to xMII.
I gone throu installation documents and completed xMII in my local sandbox.
I Copied and Created a new Data Server using MS Sql Database. But when I try to Create a Query Template using TabQuery I unable to find out the Data Server name there.
Can you please guide me what else I need to do and also please direct me how to integrate Frontpage/Dreamweaver in xMII?

Hi.
With xMII version 11.5, we are using Frontpage as editor when making irpt pages for xMII. It is right, that there exists plugins for Frontpage and Dreamweaver, but we are not using them. When you have worked a little with xMII, I think it is quicker to do without them. You will copy and reuse instead.
Some are using Visual Studio for editing, especially when making javascript files for your xMII pages.
Another usefull tool is Stylus Studio if you are going to make style sheets, xslt's. With this, you can debug.
xMII version 12 comes with editor for queries, transactions and irpt pages. I would still use stylus for xslt's

Create Logical System in R/3 system

Hi all,
I am trying to define logical system for xMII server in R/3 system using SALE transaction. But the logical system for xMII server doesn't already exist. So I have chosen to create one. Seems there is format like <sys_id>'CLNT'<client>.
1) How to create logical system for xMII server in this format?
2) How does R/3 know in which host xMII server is running? Do we specify that somewhere? Is there any other configurations for linking xMII host and logical system?
I am new to xMII and so not aware of the steps. Please help me out.

Welcome to xMII.
Though i nvr used such things from the SAP R/3 system side, i think the logical system name format must be something like SAPSYS<Number> for SAP Connection BUSCON<Number> for Business Connector. After hving defined the Logical System in R/3 System, u need to configure the SAP Business Connector Interface Action in xMII-based Business Logic Services.

RFC_READ_TABLE

Hello,
I´m quite new in xMII.
I tried the function module with a table.
I set an OPTION and 2 FIELDS. In SAP it worked. I get an entry for DATA/WA.
When i try this in MII and put a tracer to the response of the JCO/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/DATA/item/WA there is no return!
For Request-Input I use the tablename in QUERY_TABLE and a xml-document with two rows for the FIELDS. Is this right? How can I tell the function module to use 2 entries in FIELDS (e.g. ARBPL and SUBSYS).

The Execute Function is checked and i tried it in SAP and it worked. There is exact one output.
I just used the example from other threads which worked.

Weighing Scale integration with SAP ( Packing Station)

    We need to have our Weighing Scales integrated with SAP to capture the READINGS for parcels / cartons / shipments automatically.
    I observe there is a provision for maintaining RFC connection , Scale Checkbox etc in SPRO--->Logistics Exec ---> Packing --->Set profile for packing w.r.t HUPAST tcode ...
    Would you plz help me with some work-arounds ...???

    There is XMI technology available that can be potentially leveraged for this type of requirements in integrating any electronic gadgets talking to SAP ....
I think SAP XMI will be vry useful for this.
XMI is having ability to capture real time data from other system and update accordingly.
It has have connectors which will capture values from other system and pull in SAP.
How to Integrage Weigh Scale with OPC server via xMII 12.0

I am new to xMII. We want to integrate shop floor weigh scale into SAP PI Sheet to read the value from weight scale into PI Sheet. We have the infrastructure Ohaus weigh scale, xMII 12.0, SAP ERP 4.70, Kepware OPC Server, installed xMII framework for UDS and UDS 4.0. We are able to integrate the OPC Data tags into SAP PI Sheet successfully. But we need help to integrate weight scale with OPC server to read the scale value into OPC data tag.
Can any one give the steps to integrate weight scale with OPC server?

Problem in spc chart

HI All,
I have three requiremnets --
1. To calculate the upper sepcification limit and lower specification limit based on a calculation by taking values from a table.
2. I have to generate to two spc charts one is based on date and another based on order number. Both the fields are present in the same table. But when user input as date, date based chart should be displayed and same should be applied to oredr number.
3. Is there any way i can display multiple spc charts in single output page.

I have to take the input from sap r/3 in xmii do some calculation and show in spc chart.Like this i have to generate so many dashborads.
Requirement is that all the dash boards should be visible in a sngle page itself.
As i am new to xmii, id ont know how to integrate this with html and java script to do this. can u please let me know the prcedure.
One more requiremnet is, i have to set the specification limits based on the input values retreived from r/3. Dynamicall it has to be caluclated and should be set to it.
please help me in completing this scenario.
