New user: Printing & tables

I installed the iWork08 demo earlier, which I'm considering buying, but it's very annoying that I can't save or print as it means I can't test it out properly because each day I'm effectively back to square one. What is the point in a trial 30 days long if test files can't be saved for later? I don't have time to spend hours and hours in one go making changes to see if it will do something, and all without saving.
Is there way to turn a selection into a new table? If so does, it affect formula and calculations in the table that are references to other tables and other worksheet? The best I've solution I've found is to duplicate a table then delete parts I don't want.
Can I print out a specific table? Or a specific selection of cells?
Can a selection of cells, or a whole table, be copied and pasted into other applications such as Pages or Dreamweaver?
Thanks for your help.

I hadn't got round to trying Pages or Keynote, or printing. Only I was getting the message about print and saving restrictions when I tried to save in Numbers, printing seems like it's all fine, I'm just not hooked up to the printer. Pages, Keynote and Numbers are all fully functional now.
I took Peggy's advice and deleted the preferences file, albeit for Numbers and now Numbers seems to all work fine too. Oh and I worked out my iDisk URL thanks to a screencast by DonMcAllister, I'm just wanting to to cancel the .Mac trial now so I can get different username.
Do you know if I can cut and paste cells from Numbers into a page in Dreamweaver? I can do that from Excel to DW on Windows and it's essential that I can do it on Mac.

  • Grant privileges  to new user + few tables

Hi all. How can I give my new user all privileges for inserting deleting records in some tables...
CREATE USER user1 IDENTIFIED BY user1

May be it will be better to make nobody the owner of the tables? It's definitely a good idea to make somebody else the owner of the table rather than SYSTEM... you shouldn't really be putting your own objects in the SYSTEM schema anyway if you can help it.
Whether NOBODY is the best schema to use depends on what you want the table for. If this is just a test system you are playing about with then it doesn't really matter... but if you are trying to put together a proper development/test system with a plan to move into a production environment then think through what you want (and whether NOBODY is the best name for your application schema).
Saying that, if this is just a database you are 'playing' with to learn some Oracle then you might want to look at granting system privileges rather than object privileges.
    GRANT SELECT ANY TABLE TO ALEX;
Will let ALEX select form any table (other than the data dictionary).
Again, though, a word of caution - if you intend to put this into a 'real' system (rather than just one you are learning on) then think it through and only grant what you need. If you go for the 'easy' system privilege now you'll find you'll always be stuck with it because you'll never be 100% certain that you can revoke it without affecting your application.

  • Created New User but Can't...

I have created a database 'ABC' with some tables.
Currently, only one user can access this dtatbase (The user who created it). I have created another user and gave him privileges (SELECT) to view all tables.
He can view them in SQL but can't view them in Forms 6i, He can log on in Forms 6i but directly gets some errors saying: "Identifier tablename must be declared", He gets some errors for all tables.
Why can't that new user access tables or view tables in forms6i??
    Thank you in advance.

I can see these in my user groups, and I can change the passwords on both as often as I like. But when I then try to logon, the screen just shakes and nothing happens.
I don't do Windoze, so haven't been able to test migrating from a PC.
There have been a few similar posts here.   Are you trying to log on to the new user account(s) via Fast User Switching?  If so, apparently that doesn't work.   You need to turn that off (via System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options. Remove the check from the Show fast user switching .... box.
Then log out of all accounts, restart, select the new account from the login screen and you should be prompted to set the password.
I'm not sure a screenshot will help (and to be honest I'm not sure how to do screenshots on the IMac - I've been a PC man for over a decade!).
In most places, Shift+Cmd+3 will print the entire screen; Shift+Cmd+4 will produce a "target" you can drag over a portion of the screen.
EDIT:  by "most places" I mean after you're logged-on, and OSX knows your preferences about how & where to put the screenshot.  So it won't work on the login screen itself.

The printer is meant to have a function calle dAir Print also that is meant to be used for Mac but I cannot figure out any of this! Why would the MacBook Pro not automatically pic up the printer? Please help...

If you have not already done so, you should read the user manual that came w/the printer and/or contact Epson tech support.

  • New User Database schema and table name

When i create a new user in Oracle Webcenter Spaces 11g, I am not able to get the name of the database schema and table, where it is stored. Any insight on this will be very helpful.

WebCenter (and WebCenter spaces) uses an 'identity store' instead of database schema for storing user information - in an 'out of the box' installation, users are maintained through an embedded WebLogic LDAP store.
See the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle WebCenter, p. 34-2.
At the end of section 34.4.1:
WebCenter Spaces supports self-registration. When new WebCenter users
self-register, they create their own login and password and a new user account is
created in the identity store. See also, Section 34.4, "Allowing Self-Registration".

    Hi All,
I have created one new User, and give GRANT CREATE SESSION TO USER. But after that from which grant, i would be able to create table and other object, specially for table. Thanks,

Granting Resource role will work in your case as it consist of below privs
    grant resource to <username>;
    GRANTEE                           PRIV NAME
    RESOURCE                          | CREATE CLUSTER
                                       | CREATE INDEXTYPE

                                       | CREATE SEQUENCE
                                       | CREATE TABLE
                                       | CREATE TRIGGER
                                       | CREATE TYPE         Please close the thread if you feel you have the answer and keep the Oracle forum clean.

  • Table or view does not exist with new user

I am having trouble getting a new user to be able to access the tables in the database. I have created a user just like normal and given it all the privileges i would normally give it. It is the only user other than the original that created all the tables. Every time i go to select from a table i get the error table or view does not exist.
Am i missing something? It is Oracle 10.1.0.2 and i have never had this problem with earlier versions.

You will always need to qualify the table name with schema name if you are accessing a table of some other schema except in a case that you have created a public synonym (with the same name as table). Suppose there is table table1 in schema schema1 and you are accessing it from schema2.
You will need to write schema1.table1 but if you create a public synonym
create public synonym table1 for schema1.table1;then you can directly write
    select * from table1;Sidhu

  • Making new user & granting select any table privilages

I want to make a new user account who have only select all tables privilages, i am trying this but it not working, please make correction...
    SQL> create user aaa identified aaabbbccc;
    SQL> grant connect, select any table to aaa;
But its not working.......Plz forward the right commands...

When you create new user, it has PUBLIC role privilegesPeter, what do you mean exactly ? The following is an extract from 10.2 documentation :
When you create a user with the CREATE USER statement, the user's privilege domain is empty. To log on to Oracle Database, a user must have the CREATE SESSION system privilege. Therefore, after creating a user, you should grant the user at least the CREATE SESSION system privilege.

  • Print Layout to User Defined Table

    Hello guyz..
I want a make preprinted for my user query from user defined table where the header information is from another query.
I guess, the base template User Report (system) can only show the repetitve data from one query but the header area is not,
could you help, showing the header information from another query ??
    Thanks Regards

The word is that you cannot use the PLD with user defined tables (i wish it was possible).  So in any case to do that you have to use third party tools such as Crystal Reports and Reporting Services

  • Problems adding new rows to a simple user defined table manually

    Hi
I have just created a user defined table ( SAP 2007 SP01 PL9 ) but when I try to add a line using tools ->userdefined tables I get the following error -
conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '-3 @GLMAP to data type int ( CINF )
The table is called GLMAP and I simply added 3 alpha fields
I  put 1 into all the fields on screen
Can anyone suggest anything please as ideally I would like the end user to be able to update this simple table
    Many thanks
    Regards Andy

I think in your case you have used  DBDataSource to display data from UDT on your form.
Easyier to use UDO than User Defined Table, because you do not have to programming at UDO based forms.
    What István tried to say:
Check your sp_transactionnotification procedure, maybe you have used @object_type variable as integer instead of nvarchar

  • Smartforms  how to print Table rows on to the next page automatically

if this question is answered pls point to the the link
    SMART forms:
layout :  Half of my A4 page is filled with templates, a small portion is footer, the middle portion is Table.
Note: i have set the condition for the footer as (tick the check box) "only after end of main window"
    Output:
the template is displayed the table is populated on the first page, no footer on 1st page,
on page 2 the table rows are printed (table rows were a lot) and finally footer got printed every thing as per normal
    what i want is:
instead of the table lines printed in the middle of page 2 (bcz my main window table is in the middle, top is templates)
i want the table lines (after filling the main window table lines in the 1st page) to continue to print from the
top of the page on page 2 and immediately after the table rows finish. footer must be printed....
what should i be doing to get this output

    dear bob,
yes i have done that already as u said, when i do it......
i created a new page (next page) directed first page to next page
on the next page my layout is like below
removed all the templates dragged the main window to the top of the page......
when i check the result, there is an empty line as the first line in the table (2nd page)
and also the footer (again a template) on the first page, which is ticked as ( print after end of main window) is NOT displaying.

  • How to grant new user permission when the acct is created from application?

Our application team will randomly create users in DB. But the new user need to have the permission of "execute on DBMS_SNAPSHOT, DBMS_STAT, DBMS_SYSTEM" being granted from sys. We need to grant it automatically after the user is created. I was thinking about using DDL "create" trigger or just DDL database trigger. Once the trigger is fired off, issue the grant statement. We can capture the create even for the user, but got error when running the grant in the trigger or from the procedure called by trigger. My guess is that the "grant" is a DDL and DDL trigger cannot start another DDL statement. I also think about put the insert trigger on the sys.user$. But oracle would not let trigger being created on the sys tables or views.
What can we do now? The other option, I am wondering if there is a system package that can call external program (like Unix shell script) from the DDL trigger, to let the shell script do the grant, since this may not be considered as the same execution tree. Do we have such package to call from database to the UNIX shell script? Or for such need, do we have any other option?
    Thanks for help!

The application teams do not have the sys permission. If the application has privileges to CREATE USER, it can then issue GRANT
    Change the privileges.
But they want this being resolved from DBA.DBA did NOT make this problem.
The flawed application created the problem.
Alternatively CREATE PROCEDURE that can issue GRANT & have application call this new procedure.
