New Web Host = No iPhone Email

The company I work for hosts their own email via a Microsoft Exchange server and everything was working fine until they switched to a new web hosting provider and now my iPhone cannot send or receive email.
The new web host changed the MX and A records and everyone else can send and receive email from their computers just fine, just not my iPhone.
We've tried rebooting the iPhone and the server, but nothing yet.
Any ideas on where the problem might lie?

I found this link through another thread and realized I had the wrong email associated with my Apple ID.  All is goo now.

  • Looking for new web hosting

I'm currently hosting my site through GoDaddy. Plain and simple, I am looking to switch from them because of the way they choose to advertise their product. I'm looking for a new web hosting company to host my site and need some help finding a good one.
As for price, I'm looking for something in the same price range as GoDaddy. After a little research, these are the few that I've found:
    iPage
    BlueHost
    InMotion Hosting
I'm pretty confident in my ability to choose a good one, but I just want to be sure there's nothing I'm missing about web hosting that would make it smart for me to avoid any of the above. Just a few notes about what I'm working with:
My site was made in DreamWeaver. The entire site is 17 html pages. It just contains mostly text, some spry and some embedded video, so not a lot needed for data usage.
If there is any other information needed for you to help me, let me know. Thanks!

If I were you I would go check out reviews on webhostingtalk.com .  Very reliable forum for reviews and sometimes hosts like those post specials over there so you don't start off paying full price.

  • Connecting Dreamweaver to new web host

Fist, I have to say that I am very frustrated with Adobe support. I
have never tried to use them before, and at this point would not again. I spent almost 2 hours on hold
in the course of 4 calls trying to reach tech support. Finally, the 3rd
operator told me, after another 10 minutes on hold, that my program is no longer supported.I have
Dreamweaver MX 2004 and have been very happy with it for the 6 years I have been using it.
Recently I changed web hosts and I can no longer get my pages to upload to the net. I'm sure it is probably a simple need to change some info in the system, but I'm lost. At first I could not connect at all, so I went in to the "manage site" and corrected my password. Now when I click to connect to remote host, the plug comes together and I appear to be connected. When I click on "Put", the page appears to go through, and the FTP log says the transfer is complete, but the page does no appear on my site. I have spoken to my host and everything appears good on that end. I'm not sure where to go from this point. I did have someone transfer my web site files from my old host to the new one, and the site seems to be functioning fine on the net, but I can't get it to make any changes. I had someone go over my site and optimize it, so there are some changes from the site that I had Dreamweaver on before. Is it possible that I'll have to completely download my site back onto my computer so that I'm working with the current pages from the web?

Sounds like a Host Directory issue.
When you connect to your site via FTP, you are probably not in the web folder.
The Host Directory field in the Remote Server category allows you to set the default folder for FTP.
When you connect via FTP, do you see any folders?
If one of them is named 'web' or 'html' or 'www' then that is probably it. You will see your existing site files.
Let's say it's 'www'. You would put that in the Host Directory field. Now when you connect it will go directly to that folder.
Once the Local and Remote sides look the same, you are ready to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • Moving iWeb constructed website to a new web host

As we all know, I hope, MoblieMe will no longer publish web sites constructed with iWeb after June 30 (bummer).  I have successfully used the FTC option in iWeb to, relatively seamlessly, publish my site on PowWeb, a commercial site provider.  I am hopeful Apple will continue to support iWeb since it is a very user friendly authoring tool even though I will be publishing on PowWeb.
My question is....since Apple is forcing us all to move our sites, many supporting businesses we run, will Apple, if possible, provide a "pointer" service so that is someone uses my old web site address after June 30 (web.me.com/name), a pointer or hyperlink can be seen directing the searcher to my new web site?  If this is possible, I would think it would be a nice gesture to Apple's loyal customers who are being forced to do this re-publishing due to Apple's product upgrade.  If not a pointer, does anyone have a feasible alternative to suggest?

In your profile you say you use iWeb 08. iWeb 08 has no FTP (not FTC) option.
Anyway, no, Apple does not provide a pointer service. Being a loyal customer or not.
You can duplicate the index.html file in your site as many time as you have webpages, rename them to the pages you have and edit the url redirect to your new website.
And if you have Personal Domain enabled, then neither you, nor Apple, have anything to do.
You delete the CNAME record where you host your domainname and point it to your new website at PowWeb. Your visitor won't notice.
And note that Apple never supported iWeb assuming you expected updates etc.. So continue using iWeb while it lasts.
And browse this forum. Similar questions have been discussed for the past year.

  • Upgrade to iWeb 09 before pub to new web host?

I never bought iLife 09 because in the last year I've almost exclusively used aperture and Photoshop for my photo management and post processing. I have a fairly simple website for our local community clubhouse and recreation area whose rentals I handle. I do have a few photos on it, but the only "complicated" feature I need is for it to be password protected in some fashion. Nothing on it is sensitive or the like; it serves primarily to provide information to homeowners and an attractive place to park much used pdf files for downloading (a rental application, map and directions, a calendar link, etc.).
I had put it together and published it about 8-10 months ago, well before the dumfounding announcement regarding iCloud. Since it has not yet been advertised or quite ready for use by our homeowners, I will be finding another web hosting site before doing so.
One problem I was having recently, when testing to see how a password worked, was... whoooops! It didn't. A few other things were weirdly buggy.
I will go ahead and buy iLife 09, just for the upgraded iWeb if you guys have good arguments for doing so!
Please forward any thoughts or recommendations (including best web hosts). I already have a registered domain name.
    Thanks!
    Sal
PS-I guess I might also finally have to upgrade to SL, which I resisted due to reported conflicts w/Photoshop CS3. I just don't quite know how I will work it all out. Oh, yeah, I really didn't need this kind of "creativity" from Apple right now, and I suspect I am not alone. I'm caught berween a rock and a hard place.

The latest version of iWeb has the advantage of giving you two other options to publish apart from MobileMe.
If you don't need to optimize your website files and add SEO tags, the built in iWeb FTP is just as easy and convenient for one click publishing.
When you migrate to a "real" server, you can password protect individual folders if you wish rather than having to protect the whole site.
Some guidelines for choosing hosting are given HERE.

  • Changing from MobileMe to new web host

    Hi
I have been running 2 small websites, created in iWeb and hosted by Mobile Me (but originally the domains were bought from another provider).
I'm in the process of changing hosts from MobileMe back to the original provider, before moving on to iCloud.
My new hosting account has been set up and is ready for upload and configuration.
    So...
I'd like to know please, how do I upload my website to the new provider?
Do I go into my MobileMe account/Personal Domain/Remove Domain?
I'm nervous to click on "Remove Domain"- is it a DELETE button (and I loose everything), or is will it open a new window with directions/instructions?
    Thanks
    A

Thanks, I feel I'm getting closer!
I should also have said that we have a family MobileMe account - with 3 different user accounts, each set up for the 3 different websites (presumably I log on to MobileMe 3 times, once for each account?).
    1. Once I remove the CNAME do I write anything in it's place?
    2. When I do go into my MobileMe account, and I click on "Personal Domain" in the left hand column, I don't get a "Disable" button, only a "Remove Domaine" button - is this what you mean?

  • Setting up Business Catalyst Web Hosting & Email

I'm a new CreativeCloud subscriber and want to use Business Catalyst (BC) to host two sites I have presently hosted with Yahoo. Switching a site over to BC can be tricky as I need to point my DNS to BC and figure out how email will work. The help pages for email on the BC help site is vague and only offers an example if you happen to use Google Email App (Gmail). I have previously set up my Yahoo email account using POP3 to receive my domain based emails. It works great and I would like to continue using Yahoo to do this. But the settings for POP 3 are not provided by BC. Can you give me any more information about this? Is it possible to use Yahoo to receive my domain based emails?
The other question I have is about how timing and how to move from Yahoo to BC upon updating the DNS to point to BC; what is the best way to do this to insure that the site isn't down at any time? Should I simply point the DNS to BC and once it's active I can cancel my Yahoo hosting? How can I tell when the DNS has switched?
Do you have any other cusotmer support infrastruture, other than this discussion based tool? Do you provide customer support by phone? I'm concerned about switching over to a new web hosting tool that doens't have good and imediate customer support. I've used discussion baesd tools before and they can take a long time to get an answer and occasionally the problem is never answered.

    Hi Jsokko,
What you need to do is log in to admin console on your site and add a domain to it. That is step 4 in this article http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1741. Then you need to either redelegate DNS to us or point the A-records to us. See step 3 in that same article.
If you decide to redelegate the domain name to us you will need to create an MX record that points back to Yahoo. Ask Yahoo support what their MX record is and once you obtain it you need to set it up under Site Settings > Domain Names. You should set everything up at our end first before redelegating to avoid downtime.
Finally, our support team can be reached through Help and Support link in admin.
    Cheers,
    Mario

  • Changing web-hosts, do I need to save email files on computer, before the MX records get switched?

    Hi,
Recently I changed web-hosts and still have my email accounts set up with my old web-host, with the MX records pointing to the old servers.
I set up Thunderbird accounts and opened my existing email accounts through IMAP, it shows all current email and files, that I want to keep.
    My questions are-
Do I need to save my email files on my computer first or on Local Folders on TB?
Once the MX records are pointing to new web-host, then add back the files?
    Thank you for help!

Providing you can still access the old server and emails are still there.
Synchronise your mail folders to get a copy of the server folders onto your computer.
    Then stop synchronising.
    go into Offline mode.
    Move emails into Local Folders.
emails in Local Folders will be stored on your computer.
When all emails are safely in Local folders, then you can delete the mail account.
Be aware that if the emails have been removed from the server and you synchronise with the 'empty' server, then your Thunderbird folders will get updated to match the server and you will lose those emails.
Also in Offline mode you could create a backup of those emails.

  • Which web hosting company for my iWeb site?

    Hi everyone.
I was going to let my iWeb site just die with MobileMe, but decided to go ahead and get hosting for it to keep it online.  I'm trying find advice on which company to choose. After looking online I saw this one company called Little Oak is a mac web hosting company, and they are offering a 25% discount right now to host websites (http://www.thewhir.com/web-hosting-news/web-hosting-sales-and-promos-roundup-jun e-29-2012
Can anyone vouch for their reputation?  Or can you offer up any other companies that I should consider?
    Thank you.
    Anne.

I use Little Oak for my site, and I can genuinely recommended.  They are great.  And in regards to pricing, it is relative.  You can find really budget and cheap hosting, you can even find free hosting.  But you usually get what you pay for.  I would stay away from free hosting if you want decent service.  I really like and value the service I get from LO.  And that 25% coupon looks like a good reason to try them. I've called or IM with them at all hours of the day, and always get great service.
Its true that most web hosting companies offer similar prices and packages, what you really want to see if a companies reputation for service, because when things go wrong, you want to be sure you are going to be taken care of.
I'm sure whoever you go with, they will be able to help you move your site over.  Here is a help sheet from Apple to get you started: (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4686).

  • Lion and web-hosting

If I upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard, must I find a new web host, such as GoDaddy, for my iWeb-designed websites?

My iweb.app got moved over with my upgrade to Lion. Still available on older iLife DVD only.
iWeb is no longer being supported however. MobileMe.com is being phased out as well and replaced by iCloud.com.
Sooner or later you will have to find new host, whether you continue to use the depreciated iWeb.app would be up to you.

  • Every time I try to open a new web page a window pops up saying the certificate for the page is invalid?? It won't let me on my emails or Facebook

Every time I try to open a new web page a window pops up saying the certificate for the page is invalid?? It won't let me on my emails or Facebook

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are several possible causes for it.
Back up all data, then take each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Date & Time
Select the Time Zone tab in the preference pane that opens and check that the time zone matches your location. Then select the Date & Time tab. Check that the data and time shown (including the year) are correct, and correct them if not.
    Check the box marked
              Set date and time automatically
if it's not already checked, and select one of the Apple time servers from the menu next to it.
    Step 2
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
If the problem is not reproducible in safe mode, then it's caused by third-party "anti-virus" or "security" software. If you know what that software is, remove it as directed by the developer after backing up all data. If you don't know what it is, ask for instructions.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemCACertificates.keychain
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open. The dialog should show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section.
    Repeat with this line:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
If instead of the Info dialog, you get a message that either file can't be found, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it by pressing command-V. Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
    Step 4
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the upper left corner of the window, you should see a list headed Keychains. If not, click the button in the lower left corner that looks like a triangle inside a square.
In the Keychains list, there should be items named System and System Roots. If not, select
              File ▹ Add Keychain
from the menu bar and add the following items:
    /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
Open the View menu in the menu bar. If one of the items in the menu is
              Show Expired Certificates
select it. Otherwise it will show
              Hide Expired Certificates
    which is what you want.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them has a blue-and-white plus sign or a red "X" in the icon, double-click it. An inspection window will open. Click the disclosure triangle labeled Trust to disclose the trust settings for the certificate. From the menu labeled
              Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
    select
              no value specified
Close the inspection window. You'll be prompted for your administrator password to update the settings.
Now open the same inspection window again, and select
When using this certificate: Use System Defaults
Save the change in the same way as before.
Revert all the certificates with non-default trust settings. Never again change any of those settings.
    Step 5
Select My Certificates from the Category list. From the list of certificates shown, delete any that are marked with a red X as expired or invalid.
Export all remaining certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
              Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Export each certificate as an individual file; don't combine them into one big file.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
    Step 7
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    /var/db/crls
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "crls" should open. Move all the files in that folder to the Trash. You’ll be prompted for your administrator login password.
Restart the computer, empty the Trash, and test.
    Step 8
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open -e /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in the same way you launched Keychain Access.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                              localhost
    255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
    ::1                                        localhost
    fe80::1%lo0                    localhost
If that's not what you see, post the contents of the window.

When I got my new iPhone and was trying to switch everything over I accidentally set up a new icloud account with one email and had one on my old iphone with another account. Does anyone know how I can merge the two accounts?

You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'.  When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone'  Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted.  This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

    You cannot merge accounts.

I deleted my old email address and added a new one, after my iPhone died iCloud keeps popping up asking for the password of my old email address. I can't remember my password and the account is still gone, it pops up every few seconds. How can I fix this?

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

I created a new ID for my Iphone, because the old ID was an email address I no longer have. Also, the phone wouldn't recognize the password I have always used. Now the problem is when I try to update my apps, it automatically wants to use the old ID. I've set the new ID for the phone, but it defaults to the old one when asking for a password to update apps.

That's because all apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to obtain them, & can only be updated using that ID.
To use your new ID with these apps, you'll have to delete them, then repurchase. Or, contact iTunes support, explain the situation, & ask that they add these apps to the download queue of your new ID.
