Newsletter help!

Hello,
I am creating a newsletter that has 3 columns and I am trying to make the text lines up at the bottom of each column, so that it is a straight line across and looks neat. Does anyone know how to do that?
Thanks,
Molly

From the Helpfiles:
i Text Formatting and Word Processing > Balancing columns (text blocks only)
Balancing columns (text blocks only)
To make two or more columns align:
1 Use the pointer tool to select two or more columns (or text blocks) within the same story.
2 Choose Utilities > Plug-ins > Balance Columns.
3 Select an alignment option and specify where you want leftover lines added when text cannot be divided evenly among the selected columns, and then click OK.

  • Pesky Newsletter -  Help?

My mom's got this newsletter in her inbox. When she opened it, a box popped up telling her it needs her user name and password (from the website, not her email) before she can view it. She doesn't remember which password she used, and the website for some reason doesn't have a 'forgot your password?' link.
If she presses 'cancel', the box disappears for about one second before popping up again. If she closes Mail and reopens it, the same thing happens. She has no way of checking her other emails, or deleting this newsletter. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi hpnut!
You can try to go and delete this email directly at the source. Go to Home > Library > Mail > and select the folder that represents your POP account. (Ok I'm assuming your using Mail with a POP account). The folder should have a long time including your email address and the name of your POP server. Once you open this folder look for your INBOX.mbox and open this. Now you will have all your actual emails in icon form. Your gonna have to look a little but if you get the date from the email that's giving you problems and you sort the list of emails in this folder by date it shouldn't be too much work to open a few emails until you find it. Once you find it delete it from your INBOX folder and it's gone. Hopefully this would solve your problem...post back ok?

  • Help with Newsletter Extension

This is my first time installing a Dreamweaver extension, and
I found this one on the Adobe Dreamweaver Exchange page. I'm
running Dreamweaver MX on a Mac with OS X 10.4.10.
The extension seems to have installed properly, but when I
use it to insert the Newsletter, the first dialog box asks for me
to create a password and set email quantity limits (which I doesn't
seem to be the problem), but upon clicking "ok" I get an error that
says "Unable to create data structure".
The tech support person for the exchange company (and their
FAQ) says I just need to change the "links relative to document"
radio button (from "links relative to site") on the advanced
settings for the website, but I have no such option. There is no
radio button, and no option in the preferences for it either. I
have tried this on four different websites that I maintain with DW,
and that option never appears so I doubt it has to do with an
    individual page.
Is there any way to change this option, or is it something to
do with my version of DW? Any ideas would be great, since the tech
person seems to be out of ideas as well.

    Hi
You have posted this question in the wrong section of the forum, this is the html5 section, you would be better advised reposting in the extension developers section.
As for your problem, you have used microsoft word or similar to develop the code, and the javascript should be in a separate file. Can I suggest that you read the following, which will explain extension development in dreamweaver -

  • Email newsletter? format help...

    hey there,
i'm trying to send an html document via email to a client,
but when i run my tests to my own email (aol account) it always
adds it as a 'side' attachment giving you options to 'view',
'download', or 'save to desktop'. What i want is the html document
to show up IN the email as a viewable piece, not a side thought.
How do I make this happen? Is this done by changing settings in
email, changing the way i attach when i send, or changing something
about my code in dreamweaver? please help..thx...

  • Hi guys i really need help with a newsletter set up

so my newsletter that i am having difficulty with is 4 pages with a 3 column and each page needs to have a headline and sub headline the problem i am having is creating enough space for the sub headline with enough room for the text i was wondering if anyone has a mock set up file that i could use to see where my margins are off by any help will be greatly appreciated.  oh and the size is 8.5x11 mine just doesn't seem to look right.

Alright. I'll ask what I'm sure everyone else is wondering...
Have you ever done this before? Have you opened a book or watched a video?
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but the questions you're asking are so basic that I'm a bit concerned about what's going to happen when you run across something complicated.
I strongly suggest that you buy Sandee Cohen's Visual Quick Start Guide. About $23 at Amazon: http://bit.ly/cO6rsz.
You should also consider a month to month subscription to Lynda.com. At $25/month it's a bargain.

  • Help w/ Newsletter created in Photoshop becoming pixelated when emailed

    Hi all,
I created a newsletter using Adobe Photoshop. However, when I use an email client to email it out, it becomes very pixelated. I have changed the dpi and it still becomes pixelated. Currently, the newsletter is set to 100 DPi but still becomes pixelated. How would I be able to fix this? I use iContact to email the newsletter and the actual image (bc it is rather large) is hosted on Photobucket. Early thanks for the help!

Photoshop just doesn't do Newsletters very well.  Even MS Word would be better. Much better.  If you can use something like inDesign, or MS Publisher, and save as a PDF, your text will be perfect regardless of how much you zoom in, and it would produce a much smaller file size.  Plus you can have live links (hyperlinks), or hyperlink the images to larger versions (if you have somewhere to put them online.  With inDesign you can doo all sorts of wonderful things making a really impressive document that would be fun to create, and impress your readers.

  • Help with a newsletter template

i am trying to do a newsletter and new to mac and having some issues with some things.
    1) how do i change the picture? there is already a picture in the template newsletter, but i want to change it to one of my own.
    2) when i create a text box how can i have it with a border? nothing fancy, just a black border like the other ones in the template.
    3) how do i change the spacing of the letters? it was a style in the template, and i finally figured out how to change it to a regular text, but i want to use that option some where else.

    Hi Kelly Siech,
    Welcome to Pages discussions.
    1) how do i change the picture? there is already a picture in the template newsletter, but i want to change it to one of my own.
    A. By keeping your photos in iPhoto then at the top of Pages open Media then drag in your photo. Check the help file if you have further question on using Media or watch the Pages video at the Apple site.
    2) when i create a text box how can i have it with a border? nothing fancy, just a black border like the other ones in the template.
    A. Click on Inspector Graphic Inspector. Again first read the pages Help file.
    3) how do i change the spacing of the letters? it was a style in the template, and i finally figured out how to change it to a regular text, but i want to use that option some where else.
A.In the Pages help file type Kern. If you didn't know to use Kern, then using letter spacing would have provided the same answer.
Click Help Pages User Guide. The following is in that user guide PDF page 129:
    Using Advanced Typography Features
Some fonts, such as Zapfino and Hoefler, have advanced typography features, which let
you create different effects. If you are using a font in a text box that has different
typography effects available, you can change many of the effects in the Font submenu
of the Format menu. For example, you may be able to adjust the following:

  • Help required with a newsletter...

I have created a newsletter in illustrator 2x A3 back to back that will make a 4 page A4 newsletter. The problem is i now need to send it via email, but the file is going to be far to big. How can i get round this? Saving in PDF has shrunk the file a little but not enough. Do i need to shrink the images all down or resize the whole thing as it wont need to be A4 to send through emails??
    Any solutions guys?

What i have got is 2x A3 images which i will print back to back and then fold in half to create a 4 page A4 newsletter. Getting this printed is no problem as i can pop into the printers locally with my artwork saved on cd. The problem is now that the organization i am making the newsletter for have come to me at the end of my volunteer work and asked that i save the newsletter so that it can be sent out via email as well. They want it broken down into A4 pages rather than the A3 layouts i created for the printers. They want it to be a single attachment that will flow vertically from page 1 to 4. I have tried to break this down into one single illustrator document but as you can imagine the length is very long and the artwork included bumps the size of the file up beyond what emails will allow. This is ultimately were my problem lies, creating the newsletter for email.
My apologies if i am confusing you or still have not included enough info for you to help me, still getting to grips with the world of design and finding my feet in the industry. Any information you can pass my way is much appreciated...
    Thanks guys.

  • PLEASE Help with Newsletter Page Setup

    Hello all,
I am working on trying to re-create a newsletter using InDesign for a client who had previously done all "design" in Microsoft Word.
It's admittedly been awhile since I've done much page layout or work with imposition, and my brain is completely cramping when trying to figure out the correct way to set things up first of all, and then to send the finished file to the print vendor for output.
    Here's what I know...
The newsletter is to be printed two-up (according to printer) on 17"x22" sheets of paper, with printing on both sides.
When folded, and with all contained pages stapled together along the fold, each page of the finished newsletter is to be a full 8.5"x11" in size.
Currently, I am working within a Document Setup of "Facing Pages" at 8.5"x11" in size, but have a feeling that either this is: a.) not correct, or b.) not the most efficient way to get what I'm looking for; possibly it's both!
I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any insight, help, and guidance you're willing and able to provide me with.
    Many thanks, in advance!

    Sorry, Bob.
I'm trying my best to be clear, but simaltaneously include as much information as possible. Perhaps my wording is what's fogging things up. I'll try to re-hash:
The FINISHED SIZE of the newsletter is 8.5"x11". To you, the reader, this 8.5"x11" would be the size of each page.
The PAPER SIZE of the newsletter is 17"x22". The printer will be printing two-sided (front and back) and two-up on each 17"x22" sheet of paper.
Once printed, each 17"x22" sheet will be folded in half to essentially created 4 readable newsletter pages at a size of 8.5"x11". The folded sheets are fit inside of each other in the correct order and stapled along the fold into sort of a booklet.
    Hopefully this helps.
Again, I am essentially looking for help regarding two separate questions:
What Document Setup will I want to work in as the designer?
What steps do I need to take once my layout is finished to get the printer a two-up imposition in PDF format that will achieve all of the above? This is what he has asked for.
    Thanks again!

  • HELP: creating an e-Newsletter in Outlook2007

    Hi,
I am wondering how you can use a very basic one page website
    created in Dreamweaver CS3 as a e-Newsletter in Outlook2007.
In the past on Outlook2003 it was a simple matter of
copy/paste but seems things are different.
Any help would be great. A tutorial link would be ideal! I
ahve been searching through the web but haven't been having much
    luck.
    I did find:
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338201.aspx
    which is a validation tool?
Thank you in advance to any help.
    Kind regards,
    Nick.

    Hi guys,
escargo: We run XP Pro here and only Outlook2007 and dont
    have access to anything previous!
Joey: We will prob get a third party involved to distribute
since the user base exceeds the 50 by a huge amount but we would
like to develop the actual page inhouse if we can.
Building eNewsletters is a new thing for me so not sure of
the limitations. It appears as though you can't do repeating
    images?
We would like possible to use the layout in the below link:
    http://www.liquidm.com.au/pub/web/GC_email_layout_v2.jpg
Both sides need to repeat out if possible.
We use Outlook2007 on XP Pro here.
Any help would be tremendous! It is prooving difficult to
    find tutorials on the subject.
    Thanks,

  • My newsletter in pages has 2 blank pages 5 and 6.  I cannot delete them without deleting pages 3 and 4. Help

My newsletter has 4 pages that I want to keep.  Somehow, it added page 5 and 6.  When I try to delete them, the program deletes page 4 as well.
I need help.  Everything I read does not work.

    Hi bb,
What template did you use to create your newsletter? Word Processing or Page Layout?
Menu > View > Page Thumbnails. Click on a Thumbnail. Are several pages surrounded by a yellow border? If so, they are all in one Section. Deleting one thumbnail will delete the whole Section (pages 4, 5 and 6).
    Go to Menu > Insert
If the first Menu Item is Sections, you have a Word Processing document. Delete the content of a page, not the thumbnail of a page
Do you have any Section Breaks?
Menu > View > Show Invisibles to see Section Breaks, blank paragraphs etc. that might be causing a new (unwanted) page.
If this does not help, please reply with more details.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • I write a newsletter...in order to add the previously saved articles to the form, I am forced to use the form as a draft in order to go back and forth. Extremely irritating and awkward. please help

The newsletter is for nurses. I save "blurbs" from articles w' the link all month long. I then pull up the form for the newsletter and (while on AOL) I used to diminish the form copy the "blurb" and enlarge the form and paste the article. Although this sounds awkward, it was relatively easy and quick. I then posted the completed Newsletter form on our website.
However, since I acquired DSL and using Firefox.....I am in a quandary. I can not do as I have previously done. I am forced to make a draft of the Newsletter, copy the ''blurb'' , pull up the draft and paste , then save the draft. Very very awkward and and can become confusing if interruptions take place. Then, send a notice BCC to segments of 10 members or more (there are about 800 members) that the newsletter is posted. What an ordeal. I finally figured out to make the roster a 2nd draft and the form letter a 1st draft. Saving each over and over. Exhausting. The Notice is monthly....
