NI Week MH DDK demos
These are the register level programming demos I used in my presentation during NI Week. The E Series demo was also shown in the NI Hands On booth and the Apple booth. The 4452 DSA board examples will run on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, while the ESeries examples will run on a PDA as well.

One of my favorite features of LabVIEW 8.6 is Linked Tunnels. I can't believe I haven't written a nugget about these yet! In case you haven't heard, wiring tunnels in multi-frame structures is a lot easier in LabVIEW 8.6:
See those tiny white triangles on outer edges of the string tunnels? Those indicate the input/output tunnels are "linked". There are two equally awesome use cases for linked tunnels:
You are adding a new pass-through wire on an existing case or event
structure that already has a bunch of frames. When you pass the wire
through one of the diagrams, if you right-click the output tunnel you just created and choose Linked Input Tunnel > Create & Wire Unwired Cases
to link the input and output tunnels that bookend that wire, it will
automatically wire up those tunnels in every other frame of the
structure.
You are adding a new frame to an existing case or event structure that already has linked tunnels. When you add the new frame, all linked tunnels will already be wired together on the new diagram.
I like this feature so much, I tried to figure out a way to show it off in my NI Week 2008 keynote demo. But since Tim only gave me 10 seconds to write my VI, I wasn't quite able to squeeze it in.

Using this feature when creating State Machines or Event Structures will be very useful and highly appreciated.

Duplicate Files in HTML Output

I did a lot of experimenting this week inserting Captivate demos into my project. Today, while trying to determine why my output is over 1 GB in size, I looked in the !SSL!\Multiscreen_HTML5\desktop folder. I see many, many copies of folders related to these videos. There's a set with one timestamp containing "Video Topic 1", "Video Topic 2", etc.; there are many similar sets with different timestamps.
I should be able to delete all of these, right? Wont' anything that's still needed will be recreated when I Generate a new output?
Also, does anyone know why all these duplicates appear?

When you say "Multiscreen", you may not realize it, but you are creating many different outputs.
So let's assume you add a Captivate video to Topic "V" and that video is in SWF format. If you generate Multiscreen output and you have a profile enabled for iPhone, Android Phone, iPad, Android Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire and Desktop, that's a total of six profiles. That means your output will indeed have six copies of the SWF. One for each of the profiles. Each profile has its own complete set of output files.
The only way to reduce the number of output files is to reduce the number of profiles you are generating to.

Curtain image does not appear in Curtain Mode
Although, ARD 3 has been touted to put up a nice red curtain image in place of a lock whenever Curtain Mode is implemented, for some weird reason, all I keep getting is the lock image.
Is it just me, or is everyone experiencing this?
Does anyone know a solution..?
Thanks to Steve I've managed to overcome the custom Locked Screen Picture issue in ARD 3 (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2221150�) but it would be nice to see the curtain as well.

PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3)ARD does not put a curtain up. It will only put a lock up. Butl the curtain idea is still there in that it will let you still work on the computer so the user can't see what you're doing.
I was at Apple HQ this week and they demo'd this feature and the demo didn't have the curtain either. I think they just didn't implement the curtain image.
There may be a hack to implement it but I haven't been pressed to figure it out yet. An idea would be to replace the lock image resource with a copy of the curtain image resource and call it the same name as the lock image resource. It may not work and might show up incorrectly. (not full screen) -

I don't know about the CDs and stuff but would like to tell you a few things.
One should have a strong domain experience to enter into FICO and morever it is always better to learn from a training institute rather than from a CD.

I have revamped my website and for some reason I cannot get
the whole .swf to show the text after i put it through Dreamweaver.
when i look at the .html file and play the .swf file everything
works just fine. I have this as my home page and need all my text
to show properly.
I have links within the website going back to home page and
the .swf file show the text like it should. Is this a Flash 8 issue
or a Dreamweaver problem?

I cant hear anything ??? No sound at all????
I dont get any sound out of the ipod. I use this in my car with a adapter for the bottom of the ipod. All of a sudden it just stopped playing music! I detached itand hooked it up to my computer and it synced fine. I updated it and it still wont work! I tryed the earphones and they dont work either! Vey strange! PLEASE HELP!
I had the same problem a few weeks ago after demoing the AUX input, connected to an Apple dock, in my car for a friend. I had plugged it into the dock and then the headphone jack. When I reconnected it to the dock, I had no sound. I had to reset the iPod three times before I got the sound back. I'll never plug the AUX into the headphone jack again.

2 weeks ago,i have bought ipad mini ,on its backside of box ipad mini white 16gb demo is written. My problem is why demo is written? Or i bought the demo version?
Take it back to the store from which you purchased it and ask. If you bought a new iPad it should not have Demo on the box.

Logic Pro 7.2 full EDU shows that the demo will expire in 17 weeks

like I wrote in topic. My Logic Pro version 7.2 EDU which I updated from version 7.1 EDU (did install only with 7.2 install and 1.2 content disc) shows in the splash screen at startup that its a demo version and it will expire in 17 weeks, and if i like it I should buy it.
I have already tried to update the xskey but its already uptodate.
How can I fix the demo message???

Cannot open file, Photoshop is not compatible with this version of photoshop. 2 weeks
This has been a problem for almost 2 weeks now. Cant save any work in photoshop, files are unretrievable once closed. I get the same error message. I spent all of last week online with Adobe Tech support, screen sharing conference etc, now iMac isnt working properly. AAARRFGGHH.
Same prob on iMac and new Macbook pro
Last week Adobe via screen share uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop, took a few hours and still nothing. I have lost many hours work here. Cant reach Adobe and I am really pissed off. Cant reach a human via the support emails they aren't working. I have asked to speak to a Programmer or Manager for help with this and I have received none!

I should add that last night I tried to contact Adobe to see what the hold up was. I went and tried to open up the case file (No it had not been withdrawn and was still active), but it would not open. So, I started up a new support file with a whole new case number, I received an email this morning from Adobe saying that I would have to communicate with them through the original case #. Went to respond to this email today and the NEW case file had been withdrawn.
Yes, I have read all the user forums on this stuff for months, NO I am not using any Anti Virus stuff, No I did not upgrade my Macs at the time of the prob appearing! Thanks

Can anyone help me with a 3 week old Infinity Conn...

Let me get it out there, I'm bored of BT, I'm bored of BT India and I'm bored of customer services moving you round to someone else and lying to you about what they said. You find someone who says they want to help, then you call them back and they deny even talking to you for example. BT India all seem good guys, but they just say the same thing. I had one bloke last night tell me that the picture on the new Infinity purchase page of BT.com was a HH2 and if that if I couldn't see it, I was looking at the wrong thing. I left BT in 2007, when I'd had enough of poor service, slow speed and being forced to use a Netgear G at my own cost - but I digress
I had Infinity installed 3 weeks ago. The Engineer was great. He installed new cable from the pole, rejigged my wiring internally, tested it all, stayed for ages and made sure ALL of my equipment connected, yes Desktop, 3 lappies, XBox even making sure Sky was showing 'connected' - top bloke. When he left, he had his laptop and my laptop, both top end machines with N cards were showing 38MB's speed, the Ipad which gets a bad press because they don't utilise the N connection was getting 20MB and all my other machines got 18-20MB on G cards - which I was told was because of G (I still don't know this to be true - but seemed reasonable) - I even had a demo of 4 machines actively streaming iplayer to give me the WOW factor
So, here we are today. I've given 6 hours to BT India over 4 days. We've tested everything twice, changed and swapped wifi adapters, moved the HH2 around the house, connected by wire, not by wire, changed through ALL the channels, TWICE, amended the box settings, run speedster and speedtest.net and all we've proved is that the most I get is 20MB on wire, BUT this only then transfers to 10MB at best on any device. This is on a isolated device, tried at different times of the day etc etc.
The best quote I've had from BT India, was - 20MB, that's not bad is it. Well it's not bad, but I'm paying for 40MB and I'd like to give WIFI a bash if that's ok with you mate
I get connected to a lady in the 'disconnections' team Monday because BT India was unable to help me further. She looked at her system and concluded that the tick was in the wrong box her end. She apparently unticked it, reticked somewhere else, told me to give it 24 hours and any problems give her a call on her direct line.
I waited - no change - in fact BT Speedster last night told me that my profile had now gone down to 19MB max - so I called her today where I got a stroppy colleague, who insisted she couldn't help, no-one would have told me that, didn't know what was going on and she was happy to disconnect me, but I'd have to pay about £200. Did I want to do that - if not, I need to phone technical

You can't complain to anyone because no-one takes responsibility. You can't get a new Hub because the ones they sell here now http://bit.ly/cOKodz are in fact HH2's honest Guv, despite the lights being horizontal instead of vertical and a different shape and size. How do BT get away with this?

Kindly help me resolve the issue.I have done this install probably 100 times and I still get this error sometimes but it always turns out to be user error (yeah that does make me feel dumb!). It happened again last week.
It's usually the last part - the connection factory. You have two values to enter:
JNDI Location: enter eis/DB/soademo.
xADataSourceName: enter jdbc/soademoDS.
My problem usually turns out to be I enter the wrong JNDI location here. Note that it is soademo, not soademoDS and that this JNDI location is not the same value you use when you enter the JNDI location on the data source.
And, case matters.

App Store: Where's the DEMO versions?
Hi All,
Am I the ONLY one that think it should be a piece of cake for Apple to enable a 1-2 week demo period of apps from the App Store?
I know, I know - it's only 1-5 bucks, but hey - maybe the app simply does not handle the data for Your country, or maybe it does not play Your favorite radio station.
Right now I'm holding back A LOT on the pay button, simply because the only info I have about an app is the screenshoots, the intro (selling) text + reviews (if there is any). I want to TEST the app before I buy it, and 1-2 weeks would be more than enough.
Let's hear it for a DEMO option for the paid apps!That's an excellent idea. It would require cooperation from the developer to use the DRM API, and it would still be up to the developer if they wanted to offer a trial. Moving from Palm, where most apps had a trial period, I really miss it.
