NI XML DAQ Schema ?

I would like to know if NI, an alliance member, or someone else has come up with, or is working on a DAQ schema for at least the common NI DAQ boards? We seem to use (*.txt) configuration files more and more, which tend to be long and rather ugly text files that in most cases, are handed off to the customer for their use. What usually happens is that they hand it off to someone else and file inputting errors occur, then one of us gets a phone call, which leads to loss of program time & dollars.
So, I looked at the OpenG LabXML DOM parser as a common architecture for parsing and have started writing an XML schema that would at least allow (the user to edit the XML configuration using validation against the *.xsd schema file, via a LabVIEW XML config
file editing s/w program. The validation check against the schema code is also in the main data acquisition program. In summary, this greatly limits editing mistakes by the user.
I would like to incorporate the most common boards we have first, like the 6031E, and the 6508E and the 6509E. Soon, I'm sure we'll like to incorporate the M-Series common boards too. Before I go and "finish" this venture involving most of the DAQmx properties and methods, I was wondering if I am re-inventing the wheel?

Hello Karl,
Although your idea of applying XML to your measurement system sounds like a good idea, I believe that you will be the first that I have heard of doing such. NI does not have such a application as you are intending to build, nor do I know of any plans to include one. Good luck on your development.

    You must specify either the Name or Guid of an enumeration of type Custom.CI.Enum.PeripheralDevice.Type.

    for enumerations created in the console.
    you can check this by finding the enumeration in the XML or by using the the

    Get-SCSMEnumeration | ?{$_.DisplayName –eq “Printer”}

    Get-SCSMEnumeration -Name "ENUM.210ADA2282FDABC3210ADA2282FDABC"

  • IllegalArgumentException - error validating xml with schema

    I'm trying to validate an XML document using the following:
    JAXP 1.2
    Xerces 1.4.4
    JDK 1.4.1
    The xml is valid and I can confirm it with XML Spy when I point it to the schema definition. But, I get an IllegalArgumentException when I try to do it in my class.
    Here's the code...
    public static final String JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE = "http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage";
    public static final String W3C_XML_SCHEMA = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema";
    public static final String CIS_SCHEMA = "D:\\dev\\xml\\cis.xsd";
    public static final String[] SCHEMAS = { W3C_XML_SCHEMA, CIS_SCHEMA };
    private static DocumentBuilderFactory dbf;
    private static DocumentBuilder db;
    try {
         dbf.setNamespaceAware(true);
         dbf.setValidating(true);
         dbf.setAttribute(JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE, SCHEMAS);
    } (catch ...) {
    I get the following error:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage
    Any ideas?

    When I tried this with Xerces SAX, I got---
    org.xml.sax.SAXNotRecognizedException: http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage
    Maybe Xerces has not implemented the schemaLanguage property.
    I have been successfully using Xerces-dependent properties to do validation:
    XMLReader parser = saxParser.getXMLReader();
    parser.setFeature( "http://xml.org/sax/features/validation", true);
    parser.setFeature( "http://xml.org/sax/features/namespaces", true);
    parser.setFeature( "http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema", true);
    parser.setFeature( "http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema-full-checking", true);
    if (noNamespaceSchemaLocation!=null) {
    parser.setProperty(
    "http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation",
    noNamespaceSchemaLocation);
    if (schemaLocation!=null) {
    parser.setProperty(
    "http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-schemaLocation",
    schemaLocation);
    Also, as DrClap pointed out, for the schema location I use URIs.
    Please let me know if you got the jaxp schemaLocation property to work and how you did it.

  • Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build

    The following code works fine with JDeveloper 10.1.2 with the xmlparserv2.jar file provided with JDeveloper.
    =====
    XSDBuilder schemaBuilder = new XSDBuilder();
    URL xsdURL = new URL(schemaUrl);
    XMLSchema xmlschema = (XMLSchema) schemaBuilder.build(xsdURL);

    However when I try to put this in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2, I get the following error:
    ====
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build
    ====
    It seems like the oracle version is different in app server 10.1.2.0.2 that that of JDeveloper 10.1.2.
    When we rename the parser, the application works BUT the Oracle Enterprise Manager does not work properly as it depends on the latest version of the parser.
    Please help.

    I am able to reproduce this problem. I have a jar file MyLib.jar which contains a class MyXmlUtils with a method called validate. This JAR file was created in JDeveloper 9.0.5.2.
    Now I create a Test class in JDeveloper 10.1.2 and use the method in the JAR file and it crashes in build method. The error says "NoSuchMethod".
    However if I import MyXmlUtils class in to the Test project, everything works fine.
    What is going on here?

    XMLSchema xmlschema = (XMLSchema) schemaBuilder.build(xsdURL);
    dp.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
    dp.setXMLSchema(xmlschema);

  • Validate XML using schema

    Hi,
    I want to validate a xml from a schema (xsd). Can I uses a parser (any parser - xerces perhaps) and read the xsd into a String and then pass that string object to the parser?
    So instead of this:
    SAXBuilder builder = new SAXBuilder("org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser", true);
    builder.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema",
                        true);
    builder.setProperty("http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema"
                             + "/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation",
    LOCATION OF XSD);
    Can I replace "LOCATION OF XSD" with a String argument that represents the contents of the XSD instead of the location to the xsd?
    Thanks

    A Schema validator could be used to validate your xml with a schema.
    TIBCO XMLValidate is a schema validator.

  • Undigesting XML with Schema and Rules

    We currently use a Digester with schema and rules files to digest an input XML and automatically build our Java objects. What I'd like to know is if there is a REVERSE process? Is there any class or utility that can take those Java objects and build an XML file?

    Ask Microsoft why IE6 does not validate. Normally server-side developers do
    not rely on a browser to validate XML against schema or DTD but validate XML
    on the server. The same is true for XSLT transformations...

    Hi everybody,
    I'm trying to validate an XML file with a schema but it doesn't seem to
    work.
    I open the XML file (that doesn't match the rules that are in the schema)
    with a IE6, and there is no errors...
    I have the same problem with a DTD (its reference is in the XML file like
    shown in my book)...
    Does the validation process have to be done by a specific application ?For
    the schema ? For the DTD ? In other words, does IE6 make the validation
    process automatically ?

  • Question about validating xml against schema

    Hi,
    I am new to JAXP. I try to validating a xml against a schema. I wrote following code:
    SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
    spf.setNamespace(true);
    spf.setValidating(true);
    SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser();
    sp.setProperty("http://java.sun.com/xml/properties/jaxp/schemaLanguage",
    "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema");
    sp.setProperty("http://java.sun.com/xml/properties/jaxp/schemaSource",
    "mySchema.xsd") ;
    sp.parse(<XML Document>, <ContentHandler);
    but when compile, it has error: can't resolve ""http://java.sun.com/xml/properties/jaxp/schemaLanguage", and
    "http://java.sun.com/xml/properties/jaxp/schemaSource".
    It seems it didn't support above two property.
    I saw some code in forum is:
    fact.setFeature("http://xml.org/sax/features/validation", true);
    fact.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema",true);
    fact.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema-full-checking", true);
    SAXParser sp = fact.newSAXParser();
    sp.setProperty("http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation",schemas);
    Why sun tutorial use property:http://java.sun.com/xml/properties/jaxp/schemaLanguage
    and someone use:http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation
    where to get information about setting properties for SAXParserFactory?
    Thanks

    In the past, ColdFusion's XML validation mechanism seems to have had issues with schemas that contain imports, e.g., http://forums.adobe.com/message/155906. Have these issues still not been resolved?
    Do you not think that perhaps you're answering your own question here?
    I don't see an issue about this on the bug tracker.  It might be an idea if you can get a simple, stand-alone repro case together and raise an issue (and post the reference back here and against that other thread so people know to vote for it).  If you post the repro case here too, it would be helpful.

    Hi, I'm developing for 8.1.1.5 for generate XML XSD schema and found out there's an option when generating XSD schema in tools wizard to include the length information.
    There's a vanilla BS in 8.0 that i used (EAI XML XSD Generator) to do the same thing as generate schema through tools wizards but now in 8.1.15 i couldn't get the length using the same vanilla BS. Does anyone know how to generate XSD with length information using vanilla BS?

  • What is difference btw schema.core.xml and schema.user.xml in OVD

    Hi
    New to OVD, I'm looking at Oracle's OVD configuration properties Docoument
    I'm confused with list of schema files on OVD especially difference between schema.core.xml and schema.user.xml
    In the oracle document it mentioned  as below.
    Typically, the last file identified is schema.user.xml. Any and all changes to schema are applied to the schema.user.xml file to ensure standard files, such as schema.core.xml, remain unchanged between releases, but can also be virtually modified by having the changes in schema.user.xml override default-shipped schema in schema.core.xml.
    If you are installing a manufacturer supplied schema (in DSML form), identify this file in the second to last file in the list of schema files. This will protect the distributed manufacturer file from modification while allowing local customization, which is then stored in schema.user.xml.
    Based on above two paragaraphs i came to one understanding but i just want to hear from you what exactly its trying to say about those two files.
    Not sure what exactly above mean can someone explain lettle in detail

    Hi,
    The LDAP schema used by OVD is shipped as  several XML files such as schema.core.xml, schema.cosine.xml, schema.inetorperson.xml, schema.nis.xml etc. depending on in which RFC the attribute and object classes are defined.
    All changes to these schemas (if any) are always applied to schema.user.xml, so this file contains all the custom attribute types & objetclasses.
    Hope this clarifies a bit

    Hi,
    I found the solution in the following post:
    Validate xml with DOM - no grammar found
    Sep 17, 2003 10:58 AM
    The solution is to add a line of code when parsing:
    try {
    Document document;
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    factory.setValidating(true);
    factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
    factory.setAttribute("http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema");
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    document = builder.parse( new File(PathToXml) );
    The errors are gone !!!

  • Xml vs schema validation by java multimapping: ParserException

    Hello guys,
    I was looking for an answer everywhere, but with no succes.
    Problem:
    I am using SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0
    My interface mapping looks like this:
    1 XML INPUT ---> JAVA MAPPING ---> n XML OUTPUTS
    O found out, tha by setting occurence to "0..onbounded", causes, that also input is comming as "0..onbounded" xml. That I don't understant, but OK, can live with that. In runtime it looks that on the output, my xml root element is wrapped to this structure:
    <b>Messages
    |__Message1
        |__SDS_XSD_ZPPM_POB</b>
    What is frustrated problem for me, that I need to validate on the output in my Java Mapping the xml document against the schema but I always get this error:
    <i>Fatal Error: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.ParserException:
    ERRORS :
    cvc-element : element information item '/:Messages[1]' is not associated with element declaration and do not has an attribute information item among the element information item's [attributes] whose [namespace name] is identical to http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance and whose [local name] is type.</i>
    This is the begin of the xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Messages xmlns="http://xxx.sk/is_xx">
       <Message1>
          <SDS_XSD_ZPPM_POB>
    This is the begin of the schema definition:

    <xsd:schema targetNamespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge" xmlns:p0="http://xxx.sk/is_xx"
       xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge">
       <xsd:element name="Messages" xmlns:p0="http://xxx.sk/is_xx">
          <xsd:complexType>
             <xsd:sequence>
                <xsd:element name="Message1" form="qualified">
                   <xsd:complexType>
                      <xsd:sequence>
                         <xsd:element ref="SDS_XSD_ZPPM_POB" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"
                            xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" />
                      </xsd:sequence>
                   </xsd:complexType>
                </xsd:element>
             </xsd:sequence>
          </xsd:complexType>
       </xsd:element>
    Without validation everything works perfect.
    CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH SOME CLUE?
    Thanks a lot
