NIC issue

Hi,
I am trying to configure 2 ports from a 4 port Ethernet GigaSwift card to connect to different networks. The NIC's first port bge0 works fine and it holds the main ip of my server. i.e
bge0:
ip: 1.2.3.4
netmask:255.255.255.240
The second port bge1 has been configured and the system recognizes it however I am not able to ping any other server within this network i.e.
bge1
ip: 10.11.1.52
netmask: 255.255.255.240
The route added for this latest one is:
route add net 192.168.22.0 10.11.1.49
Do I need to specify a port when I add the latest route for the bge1? Any comments and suggestions will be greatly welcomed.
Thanks.

hello,
Your route add command says to get to machines on the 192.168.22.0 network send the packet to the 10.11.1.49 machine.
can you ping that machine?
does that machine know how to get to the 192.168.22.0 network?
do machines on 192.168.22.0 know how to get packets back for the
10.11.1.XX network?
have you tried traceroute?
there are some rules about 10.XXX networks and routing that might be getting in your way. I am sure some network savvy person will correct me there.

  • HP Elitebook 840 NIC issue

Strange issue.  I have an Elitebook 840 with Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit.   Once installed, I copied the driver disk to an external drive and installed the drivers.  All the drivers have installed with one exception.  When the NIC driver installs, the system freezes.  No mouse movement, nothing.  I do a hard shut down and reboot and it freezes on the Welcome screen. If I reboot and go into Safe Mode (No Network) it loads up.  I remove the driver and reboot and it boots up fine. I have searched far and wide for updated drivers and cannot find any.  Even the driver on the HP site does the same.   Anyone have a suggestion?

Use the free version of the utility called WhoCrashed to see what specifically is causing the crash.
Have you tried the older version of the INC driver found here?

  • Dual NIC Issues

I am trying to run my Arch computer as a router to allow another computer on my home network to use the internet (probably using IP Masq.) The issue is that when I plug in two nics into my computer my ADSL connection will connect but I will not be able to go anywhere on the Internet and when I plug my cat5 cable going to the other computer no lights come on the nic. Yet when I plug in the DSL cat5 cable (into the alternate nic) the lights come on solid and I  can longer even dial after running adsl-setup again.
Taking a quick look at ifconfig it seemed that both cards were working and so was my ADSL connection. So I turned of the nic I wasn't using, disconnected my ADSL connection and tried again. Again it connected but I couldn't go anywhere. I then ran hwd -s and found that though it saw my two cards their aliases at the end were both eth but I when then ran ifconfig it was clear that both an eth0 and 1 existed.
Please help anyone I am so confused.

    Thanks everyone,
I have the two nics coexisting now and I am trying my best now to figure out how to get the computer my client computer on the net. SO far I have my eth1 and eth0 cards routed and I have setup a  gateway for the client and assigned it an IP address (keep in mind the client is an ugly WIN 2000 NT MAchine  :x ). I have my Masq firewall setup but I am stuck until I can figure out more.

  • 100Mbit NIC Issue

I am currently using CVI-RT 9.0.  I was told to post my question to this forum (versus a CVI forum) since it involves a RT matter.
I am having a problem with my system when the NIC is set to autonegoiate or 100MBit.  I get erratic system behavior.  At times the system seems to work fine.  Other times I get network timeouts.  However, when I force the NIC to 10MBit the problems seem to go away.  I had previously posted this issue in the CVI forum when using an earlier version of CVI-RT.  After many messages indicating that I was probalbly doing something wrong, I eventally heard that there was a problem with the stack and this issue was under investagation by R&D.  Is there still a issue with the stack related to the 100MBit speed setting?

    Hi Tom,
I was able to find the report that was filed before.  Unfortunately it is still under investigation.  The ID number for this issue is 102172; when a new version of CVI-RT is released you will be able to use that ID number to determine if the issue has been fixed or not.  Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but we are working to fix this issue.

  • NIC issue's with DMM

Has anyone had any issues with the DMM NIC.  I have been having a considerable amount of dropped frames and duplicate transmissions, I think my NIC1 is going bad, when trying to utilize NIC2.  The NIC never comes ready, but I have link status.   Are their any specific port settings I can mannually set, or a way to see which NIC it is pointing too.   Are their any limitations with using NIC2.

Really? I use youtube every day (yes, everyday for a solid hour) and I don't experience poor video quality. I also prefer the iPad youtube app over using my desktop. I don't have to deal with flash and I it is a lot more immersive of an experience with the iPad because of the excellent app design it has. If you have a problem with not being able to use flash to watch TV or other videos on specific websites you should contact them and request them to support HTML5 for mobile devices.

  • MSI H77MA-G43 ESXi NIC issues

Hello, I've read that numerous people on here have got this board to work with ESXi, I was wondering if you anyone had any issues with the onboard NIC? As my install isn't picking anything up, and I was wondering if you had to do anything special to get it to work?

check the socket pins under the CPU as it should automatically switch to PCI-E video card and your symptoms sound like the pins are bent under the CPU (random reboot and failure to access BIOS) and are not making appropriate contact!
also what PSU do you have?

  • Multiple NIC Issues

Hello everyone. I'm in the process of certifying a system with four dual-port gigabit ethernet ports. I can pass all tests with only one of those dual-port cards enabled, but when I have any more I fail the test.
My question is has anybody had any luck with >2 NICS using the same driver? Specifically an Intel e1000g driver?
    -James

Kevin, will this fix the problems with trying to do installations with
multiple NICs, or is that still out there??

Trying to get 3Com cards working under Solaris is a career, or even a career-limiting move.
I find that Solaris is very happy with the Intel PRO/100 card, all the way back to version 2.5.1
Solaris 8 (or 2.8, whatever you call it) is far more aware of recent network cards. It even recognizes network cards integrated on the motherboard.
    Good luck.

  • ...on-board NIC issues with K7N2G-ILSR

After reading several posts on this issue, it sounds as if a ton of people are having problems with their K7N2G-ILSR on-board NIC.  My problem is pretty strange...  When i'm on the internet (WinXP Pro, cable modem/Linksys BEFSX41 firewall router), my NIC works fairly well.. maybe 90% of time.  I can also 'connect' to other machines on my LAN just fine.  However, if i attempt to transfer data between my K7N2G-ILSR and another PC, the LAN conenction icon flashes back and forth between 'connected' and 'disconnected.'  I also have this problem when i try to download anything...  It's driving me friggin crazy!!
I haven't tried the MAC address solution (copying the NIC MAC address into the BIOS).  Before i give that a shot, does anyone have any updated news regarding this issue?
    Thanks for the help...  Mike

I like to contribute a little. I bought a mother board K7N2G-ILSR upgraded my PC. First, I booted up with Windows 98SE most of hardware is working include on-board network port which connected with RoadRunner cable modem except not USB 2.0. I have decided to upgrade to Windows XP SP1. My first try of upgrading to  Windows XP looks okay for most hardware, then I found out that network is not working. After several investigation, I see no MAC address show on network driver property. I reinstall (restore from backup) Windows 98SE then network is worked fine. I memo the MAC address. Again, upgraded to Windows XP SP1, enter the MAC address into NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Controler's property "NetWork Address". After rebooted the Windows XP the on-board network port is working perfect. This must be glich in nForce2 driver.

  • Solaris 10, PCMCIA NIC issue

I've installed Solaris 10 3/05 on a Dell Inspiron 8100,. A pcmcia controller does not appear in the autoconfig scan. The NIC is a DLink PCMCIA card, and the o/s does not see the interface. Any suggestions?

Were you ever able to get the nic card working? I am trying to get a D-Link DFE-690 working on my Dell, and am not sure if I should just take it back. One of the Sun websites show a 3Com card as Solaris 10 compatible, but I have been unable to locate it to buy. Seems it came with a Toshiba laptop.

  • Mini server second NIC issues

So i got a apple usb>ethernet conveter and went ahead and setup a PPPOE connection to my modem over the usb>ethernet connection. Snowleopard sever sees this and can access the internet fine. The internal NIC is still connected to the rest of the network.
After this, I run the gateway assistant under server admin>nat>info.
As this usb>ethernet was not part of the original setup nor is the nat, the defaults overide my settings. This changes the DHCP range from 192.168.10 to 192.168.1 and therefor upsets my dns.
i managed to get back into change my dns after waiting around for server admin for 10 minutes but things started to go majorly wrong after that and the system would hang, become un-reposnsive and just plain not work.
I have restored form a time machine backup from before all the damage was done and all is right again. I really need to get this working but am not sure if I should start from scratch again - i have a backup of all the user profiles/group profiles and i can step through all the services again.
When is a good time to run the setup for the gateway assistant or will it come up during the setup if i start from scratch?
I just need the gateway to work so i can do nat properly, firewall properly and have all the services connect properly both inside and outside. inside is fine right now, its just the outside world that we have problems with.
any help is good. let me know if you need more info - sorry - it's been six hours of constant back and forth with the server now. grr...

    I see that router does:
    IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz
    IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac 5.0 GHz
Can you set it to try a 2.4GHz band ONLY?

  • HP Omnibook 6100 Internal NIC Issue

    Hi
I have a HP Omnibook but the internal NIC is not working
    the settings etc are:
    Intel Pro/100 VM
    chipset 82557
    mem D0200000-D0200FFF
    I/O 3440-347f
    IRQ 10
    PCI Bus 2, Device8, Function 0
got this info from windows 2000, checked with solaris config assistant, devices, and all settings are the same
    the prtconf -pv shows
"model: 'PCI: 103c,1a - class: ethernet controller"
    "name: 'pci103c,1a'
    so it sees it
but when I enter the info in driver_aliases, and master file
    iprb "pci103c,1a"
the system goes to config assistant and sees multiple network cards, when I select the one i know it is
from above info, bus 2 device 8, it does see the MAC address, listed in the bar on top of the screen.
I suspect that the problem is in the fact that there are
more devices that use pci103c with sub 1a
    any clue is welcome

  • Neo FIS2R LAN / NIC issue?

So I have put together a new Neo FIS2R computer in the following setup:
Neo FIS2R with Gigabit LAN and SoundMax audio
    Corsair xms twin 256MB pc3200 (512MB total)
    2 WD 120GB SE HD
    ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
    Apple Cinema display 23" LCD
    Windows XP
My problem is that my network connection is sometimes intermittent.  For the most part, it tends to stay connected, but occasionally it prompts me to work offline and some programs that use internet access fail to detect a connection.
I have ruled out the router and I think I have ruled out the OS, since I have another computer with the same software configuration running on the network and it never has these problems.  I can only imagine that the Neo LAN has an odd configuration or potentially defective electronics that sometimes act up.
Is anyone else having intermittent network problems with this board?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Not sure if the same problem but a couple of ideas. My connection never drops off after boot but every 5th boot or so I would have NO connection at all. I installed the Intel Network Utility(on the MSI CD) and used it to manually set my network speed(in my case 10Mbs Full Duplex) instead of the default "auto". This fixed my problem completely. I am on a cable Lan broadband network.
Another idea; is this happening after coming out of suspend mode?

A material called gallium nitride (GaN) is poised to become the next semiconductor for power electronics, enabling much higher efficiency than silicon.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology spinout Cambridge Electronics Inc (CEI) has announced a line of GaN transistors and power electronic circuits that promise to cut energy usage in data centres, electric cars, and consumer devices by 10 to 20 per cent worldwide by 2025.
Many of these power-electronics systems rely on silicon transistors that switch on and off to regulate voltage but, due to speed and resistance constraints, waste energy as heat.
CEI's GaN transistors have at least one-tenth the resistance of such silicon-based transistors, which allows for much higher energy-efficiency...Read More

  • Communication issues between domain controllers

    Hi everyone,
I am experiencing some problems in communication between domain controllers in our organization
We have three domain controllers, one of them is a Windows 2003 server service pack 2 which is physical (controller A), another which is Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 (controller B), also physical, and a third one (controller C) which is a Windows 2008
service pack 1 and is virtual.
I have problems with this last DC, it won't respond to pings, or DNS query. I can't Access it by remote desktop client even when it is enabled. I cannot update it, it prompts error messages if I try to do so.
This problems are solved if I reboot it, it will work fine some hours or days, but not much longer. I have checked event viewer and I didn't found any message about this.
I read some time ago it would be great to have a DC in a virtual machine, so I did it, but is it right?
Do you know what might be going on with it? would depromoting it and seting it up again the best solución?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards.
    David.

This sounds like a NIC issue, which is odd since it is a virtual machine.  Have you checked the host for any logs about the client?
I think the first thing I would do is destroy the current virtual NIC card and add a new one.  Since this has nothing to do with Active Directory I would also suggest you post this in a forum of for the Host (VMWare or Hyper-V).
