No Artwork Displayed

I have got a 30GB Video and am running iTunes 7.0 and have set it to Display Artwork on iPod. I have downloaded all album artwork and the iPod appears to update correctly but I am not seeing any artwork on the iPod.
Any one get any ideas how to correct this???

You guys have two different issues and thus two different possible solutions:
MrChris: click right on your iPod in iTunes, select: Show artwork on iPod (or something in that direction, I have iTunes in a different languge). If that doesn't work, try a reset or a restore with iPod Updater.
Why you're not able to upload new album art, I don't know. Usually a restore or a reset will fix the issue.
Gail: please install Firmware 1.1.1 using iPod Updater. I had the same issue when I was using 1.1. (from the information you've given, I cannot tell which firmware you're using, so I'm just wild guessing). If that doesn't work, try a reset or a restore.

  • Itunes artwork display issue and a fix for  'unknown error occured (-50)'

Too bad they dont have stickies. This would be a great one.
This is a thorough fix for art work and the -50 error.
If you see artwork in itunes, first verify that the artwork is in the mp3 tag using a program like "tag and rename" http://www.softdepia.com/tagrename_download1291.html
If the artwork shows up in tag and rename, then you added it correctly.
If the artwork isn't displaying on ipod, delete the song and retransfer to the ipod. Next make sure the "view artwork" check box is checked. To do this connect your iPod to iTunes and there will be a checkbox that should be checked to see if you want artwork to show up on your iPod.
If you get this message -
The ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (-50).
And have no artwork at all in you IPOD , dont fret. I am getting there..
NO you DO NOT NEED to FORMAT YOUR IPOD YET as commonly posted. I have tested and retested the following fix-
    Eject IPOD. Kill ITUNES.
    Backup the following files
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Music Library.xml
& anything in the Previous Itunes library folder
and delete them. More info on these at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93732
Dont worry, its much easier to recreate the database than to wipe your IPOD.
Next Start up ITUNES. Plug in IPOD. You now should have a empty database.
At this time, uncheck copy ARTWORK to IPOD, and when it's done deleting artwork, CHECK Copy ARTWORK to IPOD.
It now should sucessfully display ARTWORK and not get the -50 error!!
Now, goto you ITUNES Music folder and drag to the library and it will add you music back in, including your PODCASTS.
All you need to do is click the RESUBSCRIBE button and you are back in business!
IF this fails, which i cant DUPLICATE anymore, try this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300248
Its the DREADED IPOD FORMAT article.
But you probably wont need it if you follow all these steps.
Post back if this doesnt work and if it does, give me some credit;)

Just as an fyi, to shorten this procedure instead of deleting the files i found out you and open the .itl files and delete all the lines in it so its an empty file.
Then open itunes, and it will rebuild the database with the files from the .xml file.
This saves you from having to rescan the songs..

  • IPod Classic music artwork Displayed on TV????

Is there a way to display my iPod Classic music artwork to my TV like my Zune does?

You cannot drag and drop photos. Read your manual and you will quickly find out it mentions nothing. However in ITunes, click edit and preferences while your IPOD is connected. Click IPOD tab and you will see a photos tab. Designate where your photos are you want to snyc.

  • Album artwork display

When I hook up my 4gig Nano(2nd gen) to my car stereo the album artwork on the screen is poor quality. My friend's 120gig displays HD quality. What does his ipod have that mine doesn't?

Could be that your friend is adding artwork to his iPod at better quality resolution. I usually look for a minimum of around 300x300 if I'm searching Amazon or Google images, the ideal being 500x500 or 600x600 (I think 600x600 is what iTunes usually supplies).
Whatever resolution your friend is using, it won't be HD quality. The iPod isn't capable of displaying images at HD level.

  • Itunes - No artwork displaying in Library/Music Store/Pocasts etc.

I have just upgraded to the latest version of itunes and wthis worked with no problem for a few days - I then had to do a system restore and re-install this and now all I get where the artwork should be is a blank white space (library) or black boxes in music store and anywhere else (pocasts etc) that should display artwork. When downloading a podcast to my ipod the artwork is now missing from th ipod itself (although all previous artwork is there).
Any ideas on how to fix this much appreciated.

    The mystery continues...
I now notice I can't play any music or videos in itunes - I can select the item but it doesn't play at all - the diamond doesn't even move...
    Help!!!!

  • Problems with artwork displaying in iTunes but not on iPod screen

    I have iTunes (7.6) and a 5th gen, 80GB, firmware 1.2.3 iPod.
Not infrequently, I find that a song's artwork is visible in iTunes, but not on the iPod itself. Sometimes the artwork is displayed simply as a black rectangle on the iPod.
The converse situation also sometimes happens - when album info is retrieved from the CDDB, sometimes album artwork is also retrieved - but this is not displayed in the iTunes software, only on the iPod.
And yes, the "Display album artwork on your iPod" checkbox is selected in iTunes.
Does anyone have any more info about this?
Are there any restrictions on image file formats? Maximum size? Type? Interlaced or not?
Last time I asked this question I got zero response
It is an irritating problem, cos there's no way to check what the artwork looks like on the iPod without disconnecting it from my PC :/

OK to drag this thread back on topic:
I think the "sync" thing is irrelevant anyways.
What I tried in the end was viewing my iPod in iTunes,
navigating through to the check box for "display album artwork",
    UNcheck it, and click apply.
At this point, iTunes said, with NO confirmation "Are you sure?" dialog, "DELETING ARTWORK ON iPOD" !! :-O I was not pleased
However I then re-selected the "display album artwork" box and clicked Apply. The process took about 10 minutes to complete.
When I then disconnected the iPod, the black squares were gone, and the artwork was NOT deleted (phew!) and was displaying correctly. I was pleased
The amount of "other" megabytes on the display in iTunes for my iPod's contents had shrunk.
I dunno what all this actually did - are the artwork files embedded in the MP4 files on the iPod? Or are they stored seperately and linked to them?
I'm wondering if the "black square" thing is caused by an MP4 having an embedded image, and there also being a conflicting image file elsewhere on the hard drive? But this is just guessing.

  • Artwork displayed incorreclty after update to version 3.1.2

Afte downloading and installing software update 3.1.2 for iPod Touch album artwork is not displayed correctly while playing songs.
In the general overview of the albums the album artwork is displayed correctly but when you select and play a song it shows completely different artwork (it uses album artwork from a podcast).
I had hoped that removing the podcast from library and syncing ipod would solve the issue but then album artwork from another podcast is displayed while playing a song.
I removed all podcasts but then no artwork at all is displayed.
Any one else out there with the same problem and how can I solve the issue?

Tried that, even re-imported all songs again in iTunes and sync with iPod but to no avail.

  • Artwork display when connected to docking station

I have a 6th gen Nano & when it is connected to my docking station I expected the album artwork to be displayed continuously rather than fade out after a few seconds. It did stay displayed once, but only once & I have never managaged to get it to happen again. Should I be able to achieve this and if so how?

While syncing or processing in your dock, the Nano typically turns off the Nano display so it can update you with the progress of your sync. As a result, you shouldn't see any album art until the USB cable is disconnected from Nano.
The only exception would be if the Nano wasn't completely seated in the dock/USB cable, which would mean that you could still see the album art.

  • Apple TV/iTunes 10.5.1 - incorrect artwork displayed

I have exactly the same problem. Everything was ok before I d/loaded and installed iTunes 10.5.1. One thing though. If I play music to Apple TV from my iPad 2, it works perfectly ok. If I play through my iTunes on Windows 7 (32 bit) pc, the artwork starts correctly, but is always one album behind thereafter. This is when the shuffle setting is on and selecting all music.
Is there a fix or workaround that anyones knows about????? It is so irritating.
Final point, the iPad 2 was my first venture into Apple products and Apple TV (2nd generation) was my second. I have since had to return the iPad as the home button stopped working after 4 months, which was replaced. I was hoping to 'show off' the Apple TV to some friends on Saturday - don't think this will be possible now.

I think it is just a bug, but it in very frustrating. I was using just now for about an hour and suddenly the correct artwork appeared for what was playing....but then all went wrong again!!
Apple, please, please issue a patch for this. It surely cannot be too complicated to correct.

  • Artwork displayed in coverflow problem

When I use the coverflow view the majority of my artwork is replaced with the iTunes program window. It actually looks like you are looking at a section of the coverflow window itself. Everything was fine and one day when I started up iTunes this weird problem started. This is happening on a G3 iMac running 10.3.9. I installed the recent update iTunes 7.5 and it did not resolve the issue. Also, the proper artwork is in place when viewed in any other way except coverflow. If this quirky issue has already been addressed please direct me where to look because I could not find it in my search.
    Thanks

A better way to describe this issue is that in coverflow instead of the album artwork there is a image of a portion of the iTunes coverflow window. It is weird because the artwork is correct for the albums if you check it elsewhere in iTunes. Thanks for any help. If you need more info because this is hard to describe please let me know.

  • Album artwork display on tv from ipod

Wonder if anyone has been able too, or knows the process too,use the video jukebox and or album cover art from ipod to tv? I have the dock and av cables.

No, sadly not an option. Sorry.

  • My artwork no longer displays correctly after updating to iTunes 10.5.

With the most recent iTunes update, the artwork is no longer displayed properly.  The songs on my hard drive display fine in iTunes. However, the artwork for songs on my iPod do not display in iTunes (I have limited space on my computer's hard drive, so when I manually add songs to my iPod, I delete them from my hard drive, therefore the songs on my drive and on my iPod are different). Thankfully, the artwork does display properly on the iPod itself.  So it is not a corrupted artwork issue.  When I am playing a song from my iPod through iTunes, it WILL show the artwork, but ONLY if the playing song is highlighted.  Once I highlight another song, the artwork display window goes blank. This is regardless of whether the artwork window is set to "Now Playing" or "Selected Item."  Also, if I change the window setting to "Now Playing" and I highlight a song other than the one playing, the window automatically reverts itself back to "Selected Item" and again no longer displays the artwork (unless I go back and highlight the currently playing track).  Additionally, when adding artwork through the "Get Info" display for groups of songs, it will not display the artwork in the "Get Info" box after I have added it to the file(s) as it used to do prior to updating the software.  This is true for songs both on the iPod and on my hard drive.  The artwork is indeed being added, because when I click "ok" and then play (and highlight) the song, the new artwork displays.  This is really frustrating!   (I should note that I tend not to use "automatically download artwork" because most of the music I listen to is quite obscure and often does not have artwork available by iTunes without me adding it myself).
